Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I think the work was finally done very well. but the cost was high.

The work was very good. The guy who came out was very considerate and nice all the way around. We had shopped around and they gave us a good price.

Everything went well. They found that tree roots were causing the problem. They were able to take care of the problem. As a courtesy, he went and cleared our line until the water district took care of the tree roots.

They did great work. They were very friendly and installed the water heater in a timely manner. I was impressed with their work.

Totally unprofessional, very rude, perhaps due to the late hour (between 9 and 10pm) but no excuse for a company that advertises 24 hour service. Quoted $5900 for a job that should cost no more than a few hundred dollars. Did find a reputable plumber - total cost for the work was $875.

When the tech came he said he didn't have the equipment for the job because he needed to do a bomb test. He called the office who told him they don't do bomb tests anymore as it's against code and he would have to do a sniffer test. The technician did not know how to do a sniffer test and they would have to have someone else come out for it. I didn't have much confidence in their service after that and am calling someone else.

I had a slow leak outside in my yard . I called Roto-Rooters to fix it as I had used their services a few years ago and was satisfied. The guy who came said he would charge $180 for diagnosing and apply this to the cost if I chose to go with the repair. After a while and a lot of digging, he found a small leak in the sprinkler pipe, fixed it and put the dirt he had dug back on the pipe - the area looked ugly but he told me that it would settle with time. He said he has to charge me for 3 hours ($180 x 3 !) - this after doing the work. Way beyond the estimated 1 hour he said it may take! I could only haggle him down to $350. Over the next few weeks, the area was still wet and oozy. I had such an unpleasent experience that i did not want to call / talk / deal with them again. I called another plumber who fixed it, explained that the previous repair probably gave way because the weight of the dirt was too much before the glue could dry up ( he was supposed to give about two hours for the glue to dry before packing the dirt back on). This time around, my new plumbers mixed sand and clay to make the packing lighter and even fixed the area with a patch of grass! The cost - $100! What a difference !! Several days in advance, I made an appointment for 9-11am and received email confirmation for that time. At 10:30am on the day of the appointment, they called and said they were running late and it would be 12 or 1pm before they arrived. I asked them to try to make it by 12pm and they said they would call to keep me updated. At 1:30pm, I called back to find out where they were and I was transferred to dispatch. I sat on hold for a while, but dispatch never picked up. So, I called the main number back and then I was told that my appointment was really for 9am-1pm. I told the lady she was wrong because the confirmation email they sent me was for 9am-11am. The lady proceeded to argue with me about what my actual appointment time was. I then pointed out that it was already after 1pm and no one could tell me when they were going to show up. I canceled the appointment and hung up. Very unprofessional. It was clear from the attitude that they do not need my business.

It went really great. I would highly recommend them.

Overall, everything went smoothly. Vernon Gay was our technician and again, very professional.

My putside faucet was cracked and leaking. They replaced it. They did a good job, they were very responsive, but I let the guy take me for too much. Took him 15 minutes and charged $300.

The technician that was here, Brian Joseph #828, was excellent! He was very professional, customer oriented and was a pleasure to do business with!

They were very unprofessional and it seemed like they wanted to do a deal under the table. They did not seem to know what they were doing either; took them a long time to find any blockage.

Another company tried to charge me $1198 for the exact same work. The young man, Jimmy Malitz, did a great job. He is very professional and cleaned up everything. I would highly recommend him. The shower is working great.

Friday they came in with the line to fix the plumbing, but they couldn’t get through and break the clog. They said they would come back. They came back an hour and a half later with an acid to clean out the drain. They poured it and it just settled. So they poured again and the acid came back up in kind of a spray mist all over the sink and marble countertop leaving black dots all over the sink. It was an acid reaction that caused the explosion. They used SOS pads to get the spots. But there was a spot of a 1 and a half inch grey spot from the acid in the adjoining sink from where the plunger they used to plug up the acid from spewing further. They said they would come back to fix the major spot in the sink with a stainless cleaner. They never came back, so I eventually called and asked for a manager and after I explained the situation, she explained that she was an accountant, but that she would have the manager call back. She called back a few days later to let me know that they hadn’t forgotten me. It has been about 2 weeks since she called back. I still have not heard anything back since nor have I spoke with the manager.

They unclogged it. In the process they caused water to spill from the attic into the level below. Their price was outrageous. They did get the system working.

After making appointment, someone in their office called and told me a technician was on the way. Three and one-half hours later never heard anything from anyone again, although I called to find out where he was. When someone finally arrived, he was arrogant and rude. Sent him way and no service was performed.

I couldn't be happier with the way I was treated by this company and its employee, Hector. Hector arrived when expected. He was friendly, respectful, and conscientious. I led him to the kitchen where we'd had a complete plumbing blockage to the point where the sinks would not drain at all before we left for a three-day trip out of town. We left the sinks, completely clogged and half full of water on Friday evening. We got back home late Sunday night, and I called for a plumber this (Monday) morning. I told Hector what we had done the previous week in our many attempts to clear the blockage. He listened patiently, and then turned on the water to begin his diagnostic procedure. As the water poured out of the faucet it drained right away. Hector put the sink stopper in and filled the basin with water. When he removed the plug, the water drained so fast that it made a whirlpool and a sucking sound. I was astonished. My husband and I had wrestled with that sink for three days last week! Apparently, something we did last week worked while we were out of town. We fixed our own problem and didn't need a plumber after all. I was baffled and embarrassed. Hector treated the situation with humor and understanding and was gone in less than ten minutes. I'm very impressed with Hector and his company. I will most definitely use them when I eventually have a plumbing problem that sticks.

The initial contact was excellent. The dispatcher could not have been better - she kept me informed as to where and when the technician would be here. He was very professional and seemed to know what he was doing, but the pricing was not very well explained; went from $380 down to $300 pretty quickly. Again, I should have requested other quotes, my fault, but I just feel like $300/hr. is a little bit much. We had had the same thing done about 3 years ago and were charged $160.00.Maybe, if David had called back as promised, I might feel different.

Sales office lady argued over the house number provided, but otherwise the employees were professional and they were here within hours of the call for an estimate.

My washing machine drain was stopped up. I have home warranty insurance and called them to send a plumber. It took twodays to get someone out and when he came, he just stood there and told me my problem was not covered by my home warranty company (it NEV ER is!). He proceeded to tell me what he COULD do and what it would cost. The cost was outrageous! He took my service call fee ($75) and left. He was supposed to call me back with an estimate to install a cleanout and clear the drain. I have called him everyday for the last three days with NO RESPONSE. Thru Angie's List, I found this company. I called and they came out the same day. The young repair techs were polite, personable and knowledgeable. They quoted me a price and did the work quickly and neatly. I would certainly use Roto-Rooter again. I was totally pleased with this experience!

I was stunned in several ways with Roto-Rooter. Firstly, they were able to confirm an appointment about two hours after my initial call. A guy called when on the way, a very professional touch. He arrived, assessed a very simple situation...the drain was clogged and he could use a machine to clear it out, but the second shock came with the cost....250$ !! However, what could I do, he was there, he had responded supremely fast, and we needed the service. So i agreed. In keeping with a really professional service call, he had worn booties on his shoes, and was super careful bringing in the heavy machine that would root out the drain. He knew what he was doing and explained along the way. He cleaned up afterwards and the drain has performed well since then, so although I'm unhappy with the cost, I'm happy with their service and will use again.

We were told by an A/C repairman that we needed our drains cleaned. We called Roto-Rooter and they said our drains were fine and the service was not necessary. I appreciate honesty and will definitely use them for future problems.
