Renaissance personal are courteous and professional. Management always responded to my email on questions and concerns. I'm sure that Renaissance have done a lot of good constructions in the past albeit I was disappointed with the door replacement they did for me. They lacked detail in construction that I had to point out to them. After three trips the door was finally acceptable . Poor framing to start with was the major issue. I feel if I had another problem with the door they would honor their warranty without question. L.W. Carpenter

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that we were not able to completely satisfy your requirements during the initial installation of your entry door. That, of course, is always our ultimate goal. I am pleased to know that we were able to make the adjustments to your entry door to your satisfaction. We will not stop until you are completely satisfied. Sometimes, in this construction business, you find unforeseen issues that make installations more difficult than first expected. That is the nature of our business. If there is ever an issue with your door unit, we will certainly stand behind our warranty and be there to take care of it for you.

A lovely man named Derrick came to visit us with various samples, etc. He patiently answered all of our questions and instilled a lot of confidence in their company and their products. He's obviously very knowledgeable and he was very upfront with us about his pricing. If our home had potential to be worth a lot more, I would've used him for sure because we could have recouped that money easily. They obviously have a great product - the price was just higher than we could afford.

After 23 years, most of the original double pane wood windows on our home had failed. The seals were broken and the argon gas between the two panes of glass had escaped and the windows were clouded over. There was also a lot of rotted wood. We decided to go with fiberglass so we would not have to replace the windows again in our lifetime. It was expensive but there were a large number of windows. The sales experience was good and Wayne Culver was very knowledgable. However, the best part of the experience was the installation. That may be hard to believe because most times, once the sale is made, the installation can be a really trying experience. If you can get him, ask for Philip to install your windows. He was absolutely meticulous. His work and work ethic is exceptional. The care with which he did his job was what you yourself would do if you had the skills. We have a lot of custom interior window trim on this home and each window was installed perfectly without any damage to the interior window trim. That was hard to do. After each window was installed, he would wipe down the outside glass with window cleaner. His helper, Carlos, would clean up any debris that fell into the garden after each window was installed. None of my plants were damaged during the installation. The installation took 2 weeks. and each day before they left, the yard and garage were put back in order. At the end of the installation, they went over each window to make sure everything worked properly and all the screens were installed. Before they left, Philip showed me a section of inside molding where he had to splice together two pieces because they did not send a long enough piece. If he had not pointed it out, I would never have noticed it. The fact that he did point it out demonstrates his exceptional work ethic. He ordered the molding and came the following week and replaced it. I cannot speak more highly about the quality of the windows. They look and work perfectly. They have really changed the look of the house. We've had so many positive comments from our neighbors and friends. However, while the product is top notch, the installation team of Philip and Carlos, was what made this experience exceptional.

We were worried about how this job would go, but Renaissance did a very good job and exceeded our expectations. It took them five days to replace all windows, but we cared more about getting it done right rather than getting it done fast. We were there to ask questions and during the installation for things to be done the way we wanted. They were very responsive. They took good care of the house, and they worked to minimize wear and tear during the installation. When they were done, the new windows looked great. Seven months later we have not noticed any cracks in the caulking, which gives us confidence they used good construction materials as they promised they would do.

I contacted this company and had them send someone out to write up a bid for my job. The salesperson came within a reasonable amount of time from my initial contact, but said he was only able to give me bids for installation of the doors, themselves... the electrical, drywall patching, outside and inside painting, outside and inside landing construction would all have to be done by other companies. I asked him to go ahead and write up a couple of bids for me, one for installation of double doors, and one for a single door, and he went away promising that he would. I never heard from him or his company again. Evidently, they didn't want the job, after all.

We are sorry that you thought we were unresponsive to your request. As you said, our salesman did meet with you about your project and suggested that you hire a general contractor because what you were asking us to do was beyond our scope of work. We are a window and door replacement company. We do not specialize in electrical, plumbing, painting or concrete work. Our salesman did tell you that we would have to subcontract out the other trades, but you were against that idea. He did supply you with a verbal quote to replace just the doors while he was at your home. Again, we apologize for not being able to handle your project.

They were very professional. They had a sample of the windows and I originally called them for windows but then I decided my door was the priority. They were attentive to problems. I was very pleased and the installers were wonderful. They cleaned up after themselves and it was just wonderful. I got no problems.
Description of Work: I used Renaissance Windows & Doors Inc. before I joined the Angie's List. He is the one who told me about Angie's List. I last used them about a year ago. I ordered my doors in March and they installed it in May. They also running specials that could be anywhere from 20 to 30% I think. The sales manager came out and he is very patient. He brought another guy who did the measuring and I had specific problems and he is very attentive to problems that I had and he made suggestions and I just felt like I was in good hands because I has had previous carpenters talking me about the door situation and he said that the problem with the existing door that I had is that it's not the right size for the opening and it did never occur to me that that was the problem. They put in beautiful molding around the door and just fit in with the rest of the existing molding. They had a work area for themselves but they also installed the plastic wall sheathing that came into my house but it didn't allow insects or debris from their work to get into the rest of the living space.

I live in a townhouse and wanted to replace the four single-pane aluminum windows that were installed when the townhouse was built more than 30 years ago. When standing next to these old windows, you could feel the heat during the summer and cold in the winter. Very energy inefficient. I looked at the various types of windows that included vinyl and fiberglass, and spoke with different contractors. I had heard of Marvin windows (and the quality) but thought they would be too expensive for what I was looking for. I happen to see Renaissance Windows and Doors at a Houston home show and decided to compare them to other windows seen at the home show. WOW?WHAT A DIFFERENCE! There was a huge difference in quality with Marvin Integrity windows compared with other windows I saw. I was impressed. After getting estimates from all of the contractors, I chose Renaissance and Marvin Integrity fiberglass replacement windows, because of the overall quality of the windows and installation from reviews and referrals. Sure, the windows were a bit pricy. But I found especially with Renaissance, you get what you pay for. I had the windows installed last spring. The installation went like clockwork and the installers kept everything clean. I can?t feel the heat or cold when standing next to or touching the window. My electricity bill is now much lower.

It was great! They were reasonably priced for the windows. The service was fine and top rated. There was a small gap as they mis-measured a little bit. They used filler and after the trim was installed, you couldn't see it. We considered hiring them for the installation of a door, but the estimate was too high.

At our first meeting, Wayne Culver and his associate from Renaissance brought door and window samples to my home. He called to confirm the appointment, and they arrived on time. I wanted to replace the master bedroom windows upstairs and the rear entry patio doors, which consisted of one operating door and a stationary door. From my research of replacement windows and doors, I had decided on fiberglass, although I was still uncertain of which configuration. I also wanted to get rid of a very narrow transom window above the doors if possible. I have high ceilings downstairs, so the possibility of 8-foot doors was appealing. My old doors, which were not the original doors, had been installed before I bought the home and were wider than the original sliding glass door opening. Every time I turned the doorknob from the outside, I hit my knuckles on the doorframe. I had assumed that there would be brickwork involved in a door replacement to correct the problem. Wayne explained that the correct door size would eliminate the problem. He also told me that a wood Colonial 3.5" trim would cover the missing sheetrock on the interior. That was such a relief. (Two years earlier, I?d had a painter/sheetrock contractor look at the problem. That guy never mentioned that the doors I had were too big for the opening. I am so glad I waited.) Wayne and I went outside to look at the brick and consider window colors. He offered practical advice on the different options on the upstairs windows as well as one opening onto the front porch. I never felt rushed or pressured, even though our meeting was after work hours. Wayne left a written quote that day. When I called him with more questions over the next couple of days, he quickly responded. I made a decision within a couple of days, and Wayne made another after-hours appointment to come to my home to deliver the final proposal. Once again, he confirmed the appointment and arrived on time. I opted to wait on the windows for the time being, so the final proposal was for the 8-foot Neuma fiberglass French door system with the ¾ Low-E laminated impact glass. On his advice, I chose the doors to open toward the outside since they are more secure with high winds. The quote included removal and hauling away of the old doors and transom window, as well as trimming the exterior with composite trim and, if necessary, textured siding to match existing Hardi-plank siding. The interior would be trimmed with 3.5? Colonial molding. The installation was a wonderful experience. Two installers arrived on time. They laid tarps inside and taped them down. They hung clear plastic from the ceiling with support poles to keep the construction dust on their side, not to keep me from seeing what they were doing. They worked efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. My doors have a lifetime warranty and are beautiful to behold. I am very pleased with the service provided by Renaissance Windows and Doors and would definitely choose to do business with them in the future.
Description of Work: -Removed existing patio door and transom -Installed 8' Neuma fiberglass French (patio) doors -Exterior composite added where needed to complete install -3.5" interior wood molding added to replace old wood trim -Complete cleanup of all materials and waste -Hauled-off old doors and transom

Excellent Service, very professional. After replacing all our windows, we noticed one new window installed just a bit out of alignment (it was tight up and down). We called them back and no questions asked they completly removed and reinstalled the window. Now a year later and we have had zero issues, and no regrets. They were not the cheapist bid, but service was top notch and the fiberglass windows are fantastic.E

The professionalism of each and every person we encountered with Renaissance Windows and Doors was exceptional. From Forrest Crump the sales rep, Jim O'Malley, to the work crew to the office staff, everyone was professional and respected our property. The last hour of each work day was spent removing trash and waste both indoors and out and vaccuming the floors of dust and debris. All our questions were answered patiently and they pretended we were not in their way. Our new windows are even better than we dared to expect. We raised our thermostat (in Sept) by 4 degrees and when the temperature cooled we turned the ac off and opened our new windows!! With the windows closed we no longer hear the noise from the metrorail, ambulances and traffic around the med center 3 blocks away. We do not hear the cheering crowds from the Rice Football field or general neighborhood sounds. The windows open and close easily and seal tightly. I recommend the company and the product to anyone looking for quality windows and skilled craftsmen for installation.
Description of Work: We initially contacted Renaissance Windows and Doors ( along with 3 other contractors from Angie's LIst) last spring but we never followed through. When we decided we were really ready after researching everyone and every type of Window we chose to get the Marvin Windows with Renaissance. After we agreed on a price to replace 24 windows and the outside frames, Jim came out and measured each window before placing the order. We were kept informed of the expected delivery and start date and BINGO....the crew was here on the date promised. Our home was built in 1926 and has developed her own special tilt over the years. The crew worked very hard to fit each window to the unique shape it has developed over the past 84 years. I stopped by one day and one fellow was hand carving a piece of wood to fit perfectly where it needed to go. Due of the special nature of our vintage home the job took 5 days rather than the 2 days expected. At the end of the job, Jim O'Malley (I forget his title but he was "in charge") met us at our home and showed how to use and clean our beautiful new windows and was willing for us to inspect each and every window with him. Unfortunately we did not have the time to do this but it was reassuring to know the company stood by the product like that.

Renaissance was selected to do the work after consideration of numerous Angie's List top-rated contractors in my area. Though the job went well overall, there were some disappointments (see below for specifics), so even though I have indicated that I would work with Renaissance again, I would probably do so only after considering other companies as well. I got quotes for installation of 16 windows from Derrick Wilson at Renaissance and two other Angie's List top-rated companies in the area. After making the decision to go with fiberglass windows, I narrowed the list to only Renaissance and one other company since they were the only two on my list with significant experience with fiberglass windows. The quote from Renaissance was slightly over $20,000. I selected Renaissance to do the job for the following reasons (in priority order): 1. The appearance/style of the Infinity Windows offered by Renaissance most closely matched the style of the existing windows. This was an especially significant issue since I live in a townhouse which is connected to my neighbor's townhouse, with both houses having almost identical exterior style. Therefore, the replacement windows needed to be very similar in style to the existing windows. 2. From what I could determine, Renaissance had somewhat more experience installing fiberglass windows than did the other companies considered. 3. The Infinity fiberglass windows offered by Renaissance were made by Marvin which is a very well-established company in the U.S. with a good reputation, and I was able to find favorable information about Marvin from Consumer Reports and other sources. Now that the job is complete, even though I am generally quite satisfied with the end result, there were a few significant disappointments, as follow (in priority order): 1. I feel like I was somewhat misinformed by Derrick Wilson either on the ability of the Renaissance crews to prepare the Infinity windows for installation of burglar alarm sensors, or on the adaptability of the Infinity windows to the installation of burglar alarm sensors, or both. Derrick said that the installation crew would drill holes in the new windows and pull wires so that the installation of the sensors would be a quick and easy process for the burglar alarm installer. This did not tun out to be the case. The Renaissance crew installed the first two windows without drilling holes and pulling wires for the burglar alarm. I had to then remind them that burglar alarm prep work needed to be done as had been promised. Since these two windows were already installed, the installers had to remove part of the interior window trim in order to access the wires and drill the required holes in the new window insert. This remedial work was performed in an efficient fashion with no apparent damage to the interior window trim, and on all subsequent windows this burglar alarm prep work was performed during window installation as had been promised.
