They came same day and gave an estimate and actually put an additional spring, given the original installation was only one spring. Very professional.

He is incredible. I like his knowledge expertise and fair prices. I rate him very highly on every aspect of the service done by him. I wouldn’t use anybody else but for him in the future.

Everything went as expected and then exceeded my expectations with their professionalism, knowledge, and service.

I have to say that I think these people are wonderful! I had bought a "special" and didn't know if it would turn out to be legit or not, or if they would come out and find all these things wrong which would run up a big bill. But they just came in and got my garage doors and remotes working beautifully. I could not ask for more..........and they were just SO NICE. I'm glad to have someone now to rely on for garage door work.

We had contacted Bob back in March to repair our garage door that had begun splitting. In June, we finally decided to have the door replaced. Bob honored the quote he provided on his March visit. He does subcontract the garage door installation and the folks were on time and installed the door, rails and springs efficiently. Bob and Terry came out to install a Liftmaster garage door opener. They also programmed the openers on both of our cars and showed us how all of the buttons worked. We would recommend Bob to anyone needing this work done.

Spring broke Saturday morning on our 2 car garage door. Bob came out within 2 hours of my call and replaced the single spring with two new springs. He also replaced all the rollers with nylon rollers, oiled all hinges, and readjusted the chain. Took him and his partner about 30 minutes total. Very quick job. The only con was that he just started working right away without even discussing cost. The final cost came to $225 which seems a bit high for the amount of work they did but I'm no garage repair man and needed the door fixed ASAP. I'm overall happy with the experience, just wish it didn't cost me so much.

My residential Genie Screw Drive garage door opener failed to open the door. After disconnecting the carriage by pulling the overhead release and hearing the screw turn freely I knew it was most probably the carriage screw. I review the garage door companies here on Angie's List and selected Quality Door Service. I called the office about 10 AM and they forwarded the details to the owner who was out making service calls. With in 5 minutes my call was returned and luckily they were in my part of Houston (Timbergrove.) The owner arrived as estimated around 1 PM - quickly described the problem and gave me a repair price less 10% for being an Angie's List user. He and his helper repaired the door and lubricated the screw and rails on the repaired door and adjacent door. They then briefed me on proper seasonal maintenance (lubrication) for the doors. The are very personable folks that understand their business - quite helpful. Will use again.

Excellent experience overall. The tech even gave me step-by-step instructions to perform future services myself and told me what type of lubricant to use. The tech was on-time, called in advance to confirm his arrival, and was very professional.

In May, I had a very important meeting and found that my garage door wouldn't budge -- 2 hours before the meeting. I called Quality Door Service and Bob and his trusty helper were at my house in 45 minutes. They immediately went to work and replaced the single spring that I'd had for 17 years with 2 springs, which Bob said would work better for lifting the door and not straining that single spring. They were done in about 15 minutes and I was able to make my meeting on time, worry free. I called him this morning (7/5/12) because my garage door was making an awful noise and jerking violently when I put it down. He immediately realized that the hinge was cracked and went on to replace that, put a brace/strut across the door with the trouble spot, replaced the switch that moves back and forth with the mechanism and replaced my dry-rotted weatherstripping. He had to lower the right side of the door to make it seal properly, as I'm sure there has been some settlement in the foundation. When he was done, my door opened and closed beautifully, it is sealed about as tight as one could imagine and all was right with the world -- garage-door wise, anyway. He is just the best ever. He responds immediately, always manages to get to you within a very short period of time, does what he says he'll do, doesn't take a lot of time to do whatever it is and has you ready to roll (literally) very quickly. He knows everything there is to know about garage doors and their shortcomings and you feel completely confident about that. I'd recommend Bob in a heartbeat.

THE TWO GENTLEMEN THAT CAME OUT TO THE HOUSE WERE WONDERFUL AND GENUINE. I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE THAT I COULD CALL ON AND TRUST IF I EVER NEEDED THEM. I WILL USE THEM WHEN THAT TIME COMES.

Very pleasant; didn't mind our messy garage; explained to me how to maintain the door myself. He left a sticker by the control box to remind us of dates to lubricate - and to call him again for service. Very pleasant experience.

Bob was really good - quite the character! - He knew the opener was not that old - so didn't need to be replaced entirely - he weighed the cost of a new one against the cost of the repair - and gave us a door maintainence lesson - which was really helpful. We would recommend him without hesitration. He responded quickly - arrived when he said he would - took about an hour to fix the door opener -and cleaned up afterwards -

Showed up on time very next day first thing in the morning. After the call we couldn't be happier. Lost very little time in getting in to work.

I didn't go through with the deal because they could not service this brand of garage door. They were very professional and nice guys. I would recommend them to anyone.

EXCELLENT service from Bob and his Team! Very professional, courteous and considerate group of people-- My phone calls are answered promptly. Bob and his team give you a reasonable "window" time. They call 20-30 minutes before arrival. The estimates for repair and for replacement are very reasonable. They worked quietly and efficiently and left the garage and surrounding areas very clean. I have no complaints. I wish that I had been on Angie's List and found out about Quality Door Service earlier when I had my previous troubles with my garage door. I know they are getting a lot of praises (and rightly so !) and probably a lot of business (they deserve it !) but I hope that they continue to keep up this wonderful work as they continue to grow I am very happy !! Now I ask you readers--how many times have you ever said that when you are paying/ spending money?

What can I say that 233 reviewers before me have not already said, and most of them probably more eloquently. Either he has 233 good friends whom he button-holed into writing a great review --I doubt that; but other sites do do that--OR he has 233 new friends and extremely satisfied customers. Add me to this second list to make that 234! First visit- fix non-operating opener. Bob showed up with his helper on time. He checked out the door and determined that the opener (operator/motor) was bad. (I kind of suspected that, but hoped he had some magic potion in truck that would make it come back to life.) He said that years ago Genie openers used to be the best in the industry. (I remember those days; that's why I put two of them in.) But now their openers only last about 5 years. (I installed 2 on this garage over the past 12 years. He's on the mark.) Replacement cost for a LiftMaster: $300. UGH. Home Depot had a closeout price on a basic Genie opener that I was considering for $100. (My labor is not included in that price, but I should be pretty good at putting them in by now.) Bob then lubed the door rollers/guides and spring for me. (I did not know the spring needed oiling, but it does in order to reduce rusting in our lovely humid climate.) Having never been oiled in the 12 years since garage was built, it was pretty rusty. Bob said there were probably a few years left in it. Replacement with a dual spring system: $300 UGH-UGH He told me to lube it twice a year, and what kind of lube to use. (NOT silicone --which the folks at Home Depot had recommended.) Total charge: $0. That is unheard of. Everybody charges for a service call ... EXCEPT Bob. Hard sell? Not at all. He was half way down the driveway when I flagged him down to get an estimate to replace the whole door, itself, as well as the spring and opener. He ball parked it at $1000. And then he left. The garage door itself was pretty flimsy-- builder's grade, 26 gage. I have been having all sorts of trouble with it. It took quite a few hard fouls from the so-called basketball games my son and his friends had in the driveway. It makes lots of weird noises and bangs pretty badly. I had added 8-10 braces (3-4 ft in length), held in place with about 100 screws, to keep the thin door from flexing (oil canning) as it opened. It looked pretty bad; but the braces helped, at least for a short time until another panel begins to flex and break down. So I am looking at $300 for 2 openers over the next 6 years, or have Bob do it once for $300, and I don't have to lift a finger. Pretty much of a no-brainer there. And add in another $300 for the spring, and I am in for $600 and I still have the flimsy door that will need more bracing and more screws before I sell the house. It will definitely look like crap by then, hurting the house's resale value. At this point, I normally go back to Angie's List, and get 5-10 quotes, interviewing the salesmen in the process to a**** the quality of the company. I then compare the quotes, making adjustments as needed to get a fair comparison. Lots of effort; but NOT this time. I had complete confidence in Bob's knowledge of garage doors from the few minutes he was with me. His price estimate seemed reasonable. And even if he was high by $50, i figured I owed him at least that much for his no-charge service call. Great Business Model. So I called Bob back and arranged for an install on 7-May. 2nd visit -- install new door and opener. About 1/2 hour before they arrived, the install crew gave me a call to let me know they would be on time.The two man crew went straight to work, like a well-rehearsed dance. No wasted motions. Each man knew exactly what he needed to do. A couple of hours later the installers were wrapping up, and Bob showed up with the new opener. They left for the next job, leaving Bob and partner to install the opener. About an hour later Bob let me know that he is done. I looked over the invoice-- just as we had agreed $990, b/c I got a third remote. Oh but wait! There is an extra line item. A $20 discount for being an Angie's List member. Bob had remembered that from the first visit and AUTOMATICALLY, without my asking, gave me the discount, bringing the bill to $970. With other Providers, you have to remember to show them the coupon before they deduct the discount. (I even had one who told me there was not enough margin on the bid to give the AL discount.) How did it go? They hauled away the old door and parts, and cleaned up after themselves. I got everything I expected, and more at a reasonable price. Installation was competed in the 3-4 hr window that Bob had projected. I got a brand new solid (24 gage) garage door (with rails, opener, dual springs, 3 remotes) that runs much quieter. (My wife is happy; she likes the quiet.) And in 5-10 years, it will still bring value when I sell the house. (My son has moved out, so there will not be any more wild basketball games in the driveway.) Bob left me a spray can of lube, so i don't have to run to Lowe's for it. (Another savings). And I did not have to lift a finger. Best opener I ever (had) installed. Yes, I will be telling my neighbors and passing out his card. UPDATE -- 4-July 2012 Does QDS stand behind their work? YES About a month after the install, my wife noticed the door was "thumping" just at the end of the opening cycle. I called QDS, saying, "No big hurry; door works fine." Bob insisted on getting out ASAP. Shawn arrived a couple of days later, looked it over, re-lubed the spring and rollers, made some minor adjustments, and the thumping is gone. All with a smile on his face, in spite of the heat. I am happy. And more importantly, my wife is happy. YES-- QDS stands behind their work.

From first call to service, the job was done quickly and efficiently. Bob came to the house with all the right parts and tools and finished the job in under an hour.

Bob provided an excellent service. In addition to replacing the rollers and oiling the hinges and springs, as was contracted for in the pre-paid deal, he also troubleshot why the door opener light was not working (wrong bulb) and showed me how to do my own preventative maintenance. I highly recommend his services.

Overall went very well. I called he came in an hour and saw the problem and fixed it.

I would have been happy replacing the old unit, but he said the new ones are not much better, and I should get another 10 years from this one, that sounded good to me, didnt say sure lets price you out a new unit. Good guys to deal with, fair and up front honest.

Called Bob on Sat at 5 pm and he arrived Sunday (Mother's Day) at 9:45 am. Introduced himself and his worker. Two parts were missing from a 1984 Genie - we found one on the floor, he had the other. He replaced the motherboard and the receiver (I think), greased it and it runs like a top. In and out in 30 minutes. $79 - asked how I found him and gave the $10 discount immediately, without me saying a word. I would be thrilled if I could find this each and every time on Angie's List. I wouldn't hesitate to call Bob again.

They installed the opener, which is top of the line, and then instructed us on how to use the remotes, the door panels, and the defaults. The guys are punctual, professional, and personable. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TEAM!!

Called Bob on a Saturday morning; he called right back. I described mal-functioning garage door opener. He asked a few questions and based on my response was able to diagnose the problem quickly. Shortly thereafter, he and his colleague arrived, installed the replacement part, fixed the garage light, lubricated the system and provided instructions for maintenance. He knew exactly what he was doing and did it very well as well as with good humor. Door now works quietly and smoothly. I was very impressed with his professionalism.
