+ -1 moreBob and Larry came when they said they would and replaced the garage door opener. The job was quick and thorough. They also replaced a hinge and did not charge extra for it. The price was exactly what the quoted over the phone.
Description of Work: Bob and Larry removed the old garage door opener which was not working. They then replaced it with a Chamberlain Access Master chain driven opener. Also, they replaced a broken hinge and oiled the spring and all the hinges.

I was very happy with their work, so when my garage door spring broke in September 2012, I didn't even contact another company. These guys were at my home within 1.5 hours of my calling them that morning and got the job done in about an hour. They were very reasonable and I highly recommend them, and I have very high standards for repairmen and contractors.
Description of Work: Garage door checkup including examination/lubrication of all moving parts, checking spring tension, and replacement of old steel rollers with new polyurethane rollers, which are much quieter.

Description of Work: Bob and his assistant showed up on time. They replaced the rollers on both my garage doors. One of my units had not been working for over a year. they were very knowledgeable, figured out the problem rather quickly and fixed the unit. tuned up both units. lubricated both units. Gave me advise on proper maintenance. They were professional and friendly. I paid $40 for parts: springs for one unit; cables for another.

He also provided guidance for selecting the proper grade of steel for a replacement door that would avoid the problems we have had. They do not install garage doors on our side of Houston, so the information will be useful when we look for a replacement in a few years.

+ -1 moreI called the company because I wanted a diagnosis and repair of door problems due to loud squeeking of the door when raised and lowered. I thought I needed adjustments to the door perhaps. He simply squirted a little lubricant from a spray can to quiet the door which I could have been told over the phone prior. Perhaps I would not have needed an appointment and time taken out from my busy day to simply watch him spray lubricant on the door guides. Then he installed the promised key pad opener, about a $40 service. He spend just a few minutes total and left. Service was minimal in time and effort and over $100 was charged for a few minutes of labor and an inexpensive keypad. I had installed another identical keypad I purchased from Lowe's myself on another home and it is easy and cheap.
Description of Work: Door runners were lubricated with a spray lubricant and key pad was installed.

They oiled the garage door springs and rollers and explained what I should do in the future to get the most life out of my garage door. They also checked my old openers that were no longer working to reprogram them. The service was quick, but not at all rushed, and I really appreciated the extra instruction they provided. I would definitely use them again.

After Bob fixed them up, the noise level went down by several decibels and both doors moved a LOT more smoothly than before. He also gave us some tips on how to maintain the doors to prolong their lives. Great work and very professional. I would definitely use his services again.

+ -1 moreI had a wonderful experience with Quality Door Service. They arrived on time, fixed the problem, didn't try to oversell me, and were on their way in about half an hour.
Description of Work: I purchased a "Big Deal" for this company, so the price is the price of the Big Deal, and not the regular price for this service. The Big Deal was to have the rollers on the door replaced and have the door tuned up. This was something I needed badly, because my garage door was making quite a racket when it opened and closed, and I was also having trouble getting it to close. It would go part of the way down, decide something was wrong, and go back up. I had checked the laser repeatedly and it was clean and nothing was in the way of it, but it might take 5 times or more to get my garage door to close when I was leaving the house. When I called to schedule an appointment, I was delighted that they had Saturday hours, so I scheduled them to come out on a Saturday. They arrived on time, and quickly went about their business, checking the door, opening and closing it to identify where the issues were, and replacing the rollers on the door. They lubricated the hinges and the spring, as well. When they were finished, they reviewed with me the work they had done, and gave me instructions for maintenance I could do myself. It was to simply go and buy a can of Liquid Wrench and spray the hinges and spring but NOT the rollers, twice a year. They said they always recommend Easter and Halloween, to make it easy to remember. Even I can do that! They asked permission to put a sticker on my garage wall that had the name of the company and their contact information. I said that would be great, so they put it right by the button for the garage door. They also warned me that my spring was rather rusty, and could break any day, or might last for years, but would eventually break. I asked if I should go ahead and get it replaced, and they said no, just wait until it breaks. I was surprised by that! When it does eventually break, I will have their number on the wall of my garage. My door now closes when I tell it to, and it no longer makes that awful racket as it goes up and down. All I hear now is the humming of the opener, not the door. It's wonderful!! I really had no idea how much that door not closing was aggravating me, until I had it fixed.

+ -1 moreOn Saturday my tenant had informed me that the garage door would not work and they could not open the door manually either, luckily it happened while the vehicle was outside the garage as opposed to inside so they were not stranded. Sunday I made a trip to investigate and discovered that the spring above the door was busted. I left Bob a message on a Sunday not expecting to be called back until Monday for obvious reasons. Surprisingly Bob called me back Sunday evening and setup an appointment to meet me at my rent house on Monday. Bob replaced the spring & rollers for $200 as advertised and he even installed a second spring just in the event of the same situation in the future, at least you can get the door up or down until the repair can be made. As it turned out, the door still wouldn't move so we discovered that the coupler connecting the motor to the screw that drives the door was also worn out and busted. Bob stated that was an $89 repair however would do it for $40 since I found him on Angie's List. Bob also educated me on how to maintain the door, hinges and spring to get the maximum use out of it for years to come.

He explained all the pros and cons, he asked me about my goals and usage, and suggested one that was actually on my list. He was ready to schedule me the next day (Sunday), I asked for a weekday appointment and he accomodated. He called before arriving for the installation. He showed up with the openers and had them installed very quickly. He reviewed operation and maintenance, programed the vehicles that had the built in buttons and left a sticker by the opener should I have any questions. We are very happy with the set up.

The coupon was for "Complete Spring Garage Door Tune-up for Two Doors" and I interpreted it as a tuneup for the doors in the Spring. When I called him, he said it was a tuneup for the SPRINGS in the door. He said he would come out promptly and repair the problem but I would need to get a refund on the Angie's List coupon.

I was pleased, the guy is straightforward, honest, knows his work, what more can you ask.
Description of Work: Listen.... Use this company!!! The guy Bob is the best, most honest, professional guy I have come across in a long time. He fixed the garage door to perfection in about 20 minutes, no add-on charges, no sales pitch. Just honest, hard work. And now my 40 year old garage door opener is in perfect operating condition again. Totally happy with this company. Don't hesitate to use them.
