PULTE HOMES

So far, it's working alright.

We took possession of a new construction Pulte Home in August of 2007, paying approximately $300,000. This home is located in the Augusta Pines subdvision in Spring, TX. In May of 2014, less than seven years later, my wife and I were moving to a smaller home. Upon completeing the home inspection for the sale of the house, our roof failed the inspectors report! We hired a roofing specialist to inspect the home and he confirmed the asphalt materials were coming off of the fiberglass backing. After contacting Pulte Homes, they referred us to the shingle manufacturer;CertainTeed. CertainTeed has a rather involved warranty claims process, that would scare most people away. Regardless, we completed all the actions required for the warranty and Certainteed confirmed the shingles were defective, offering to pay under the terms of their warranty. Unfortunately, Certainteeds warranty only covers a prorated amount for the shingles; not their removal or reinstallation, underlayment or any other materials and labor. My initial estimates were in excess of $16,000 and CertainTeeds warratnty offer was for $2,035. I contacted Pulte concerning this and they said there was noting they would do for us! Here is what this all comes down to: 1. We wrote our Check to Pulte homes, not CertainTeed or the original roof contractor. 2. Pulte Homes sold us a house constructed with defective roofing materals. 3. We are assuming that Pulte Homes was not aware of the defective shingles when they sold the house to us. 4. Once Pulte homes was made aware that their finished home, sold with a 30-year roof, lasted less than 7 years, they should stand behind their product. 5. Pulte Homes is not standing behind the quality of the materials they use. 6. Pulte Homes does not care that they sold us a house made with defective materials. 7. We were able to negotiate the replacement of the roof for $11,425. 8. Less CertainTeeds warranty payment offer for $2,035, Pulte Homes should reimburse us the remaining $9,390.

We went to Pulte Homes and looked at the models and the sales representative was very helpful in showing us the floor plan that we liked. Their prices were quite good and they explained the home warranties and the building process. The groundbreaking was scheduled as soon as the permits were available, and the work crews finished the house on time. We moved in after the walk through and everything was just fine. They did an excellent job, and the house and yard were all cleaned up.

They did a fabulous job in our whole subdivision. The home was built to our perfection, and when we moved in they were great about coming out, and doing some changes for us. The house seems to be of good quality products on the interior, and we haven't had anything go bad with the house at all. We are pleased with the overall job Pulte did for us.

The house we purchased was built by Pulte Homes, and they did a very good job of building it. The house is a large two-story home with three bedrooms. Pulte homes were very professional, and punctual in getting our home built. Pulte also put the sod in the front of the house, and planted a couple of trees for us. We are very satisfied with our house, and up to this point, we have had no problems, and would certainly recommend them to other people in need of a home builder.
