I called this company about one known broken water pipe at my property and was told it could be handled with a same day appointment if I paid the $225 emergent appointment fee. The plumber called when he was on his way (after nightfall) and explained that many houses he had been to required full home repiping, something I made clear over the phone we did not need and that my wish was to repair the known broken pipe and then see if there are additional breaks after the first repair. Upon his actual arrival to the property, he explained it was too dark for him to do anything and he would have to come back the next day... no offer of a refund for "emergent service" which I paid a premium for. I received a call from Pickett around 8am the next day saying the plumber was on their way back. I expected a plumber to arrive by 9am based on this confirmation call, however they did not arrive until it was almost dark again that evening. They called me at about 5pm when I was not available to answer (as there was no heads up of their new arrival time) and then they sent an estimate for almost $15,000 for a whole home repiping, and another estimate for over $8,300 for addressing two horizontal pipes. I'm not new to plumbing repairs and this is absolutely a rip off considering the issue that we had. We had a different plumber come out and repair the issue for $600 because it was as simple as two broken pipes and a whole home repiping was absolutely not necessary for water service to be returned. Our repair was delayed two days because we relied on Pickett's promise of same day service. I had 6 tenants without water for two days because of the lies this company told me. It's been over a month and they have still not returned any of my calls or emails or acknowledged their failure to perform. Absolutely do not trust this company and don't make the same mistake I did, paying a premium for terrible service.

The work completed was the removal of an old faucet and installation of new faucet. I requested a quote over the phone, which should have been simple enough. The said an estimate was not possible over the phone. This should have been my first clue. Of course they charge a fee to make the trip, so once you have them in your house, you are invested. It cost me $426 (with a $30 coupon) to install a new faucet that took about 30 minutes!!! This was labor only!! That is outrageous. Most attorneys don't even charge at that rate! For this reason alone, I will not use them again.

I had a dripping shower head pipe, and had already bought (the same brand) shower assembly ($182) to replace whatever was broken, including the inner workings. It took him less than 30 minutes of work to put on my new assembly. He had to use a part- the cartridge , he had on his truck, which repaired the drip. He brought a helper, who looked at the 6 year old kitchen sink which was loose (had not been bolted down, just glued) and the kitchen faucet which wasn't pivoting properly because of the shifting sink. They said that the faucet was damaged (correct diagnosis), and that they were "not capable of bolting and then gluing the sink back down" , and told me to "call another plumber". (!!!) For their visit, they charged me $487 to replace the cartridge, and $260 to put on the new trim- unreal.

They were called out for an estimate to change a garbage disposal, I was quoted $687. The Disposal is less than $100 so basically they wanted almost $600 in labor for a 30 minute job, I hired Lowes to install it for $99, I believe theses guys just want to make money ($69.95) on an estimate fee

Instead of repining our water system in the house the repurposed the pipe by doing what is called Duraflo coding which seals the pipes for life. We have used for small jobs like toilet repair and drainage stoppage. I would tell anyone to hire them immediately. The prices are competitive and there are only one of two companies qualified in this area to do the coding.

Well, I have used them for a few years. This last encounter will be the last time I use them. First off, I was told that they would be at my house at 2 pm on a given day. I took off work early to be home. at 4:45 they showed up?? No phone call. I had to call them. I had plans and so they had to reschedule on my terms. 2 men came by to fix my drain shower. One of the men had to go back and forth from the bathroom to their truck through my kitchen and out of my garage. I am watching tv. they are in my home for over 2 hours. Upon leaving and paying my bill, I noticed my watch was missing. Well it wasn't missing. It was taken. I know it was there because I was going to wear it before they showed up to go to the store but I thought why? The man had ample opportunities to pick it up going in and out of house. My watch was on the counter. So in the future with another company, I will make sure nothing valuable is out in the open. After calling the company and telling them what happened, they said they would investigate. Well of course after 3 days, I had to call them. they told me I had to file a police report. I said why? what will come of it? It will be my word against the man's word. I don't even think they approached him at all and asked him. Oh well, that man has to live with himself if he even has a conscience. He will do it again I am sure of that. And finally, when I asked the other plumber if they were on Angie's List they said NO!! Well no wonder he lied. He knew I would post on here and I did. I am sure I will find a company I can trust the next time I need one here on Angie's List.

He wanted to charge me a service call after having them out last week. They left a gaping 2ft by 3ft hole in my ceiling, did not seal over it and all my heat was leaking. I found another leak after two days after having to go up there myself. I also had to clean up after them myself. They wanted to gouge me for the temporary clamp they had to put in.

The installation was completed between about 10am and 2pm. The original tank was not properly tied into the roof vent. The existing cold water feed had a very corroded junction. The existing drain pan pipe was elevated above pan height (presumably by careless HVAC guys routing it above support boards). The crew laid out drop clothes for their work and made their own site inspection to confirm the estimator's work before they proceeded. The estimator had overlooked the corroded joint in his bid and I missed that it wasn't there. The crew leader estimated the work and we agreed to proceed. The crew communicated well, were courteous and clean, leaving my home in the same condition it was when they started. Drop clothes and a vacuum cleaner used on the carpeted areas.

Called Pickett to do a simple change of waste disposal unit to one that we had bought. They advised there was a call out fee of $69.95 which would be waived if we went ahead with the work. They did not advise that they had a flat $358 charge for changing a waste disposal which is ridiculous. We paid the call out fee and sent him away. The next day we called Brad's Plumbing and he came out, actually took a look at the unit and was able to repair it for $130 labor.

They showed up on time all 4 days, did a thorough job on each side side of the pipes (hot and cold), were easy to work with and cleaned up afterward. They covered the steps and floors so there was very little to clean up. They did a great job and I'd recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: They coated all of the pipes in my house with what they called an epoxy. Most companies will only replace the horizontal pipes, but not the verticals. I hate to say it, but the vertical pipes develop leaks also. This stuff coats the inside of the pipes so you don't have to worry about more leaks. My house is 30 years old and has galvanized pipes. It was time to do something, and this was the most permanent solution I could find.

I was under the impression that they were going to send a guy out a few days before to map out where everything was on a floor plan. (water heaters, known wet walls from attic thru 2nd down to 1st floor, where dead legs might be, etc) This meeting didn't happen and probably cost some time on the end, as I was not aware that pipes ran under the slab of the master bedroom. Crew showed up pretty close to on time. I was expecting them at 8am and they were here before 9am. 3 guys, I think one of them was a real plumber and the others were helpers. They got the tour of where all the water heaters, attic access, bathrooms, kitchen and out door hose bibs were, so their count matched the quote. I knew they were going to have to cut some sheetrock to access the back of shower handles so I cut one myself cuz I wanted to save the pieces of an elaborately textured wall. They unloaded 3 pumps they put in my garage and unhooked a generator that was trailered behind a truck which was placed in my driveway. Then they put down mats and floor protections to cover my tile, stairs and carpets. I gave them a garage door opener instead of a key and left at this point. I returned about 6pm to check on them and they were already gone. The second day I came over about noon and they had said our subdivision guard had come by and made them shut down and leave at 5pm and that they may not be able to finish in 5 days quoted if that was going to happen every day. They said that when they shoot the epoxy in they have to blow hot air for 2 hours to keep it from clogging so they wouldn't be able to apply any appoxy after 3:30 if they were getting kicked out at 5pm each day. The 3rd day I was told they were 4 hours behind because of the 5pm stop time and they had run into some unexpected under slab lines running out to hose bibs in the back yard that were hooked into a toilet supply. They would attempt to make up the time but I should consider a Saturday finish with my living arragements. Well they didn't finish and get things cleaned up until Saturday at 10pm and I think it was cuz we had moved back in and were standing there watching them. The following day we discovered we had some grit in the lines that has caused problems with 2 sinks, the bath tub and 1 toilet not being able to shut all the way off. They came out promptly and cleared the lines but 2 handle cartridges were damaged and they had to order those. I believe the grit was left in "dead" pipe legs left from a bidet removed in a remodel. This issue might have been avoided if they had the pre-meeting we didn't have or if the lines had been blown clear Saturday after they finished, but the hour was so late it just wasn't done. Their clean up was a little less than I hoped for, for the same reason.
Description of Work: Complete epipe (epoxy seal inside pipes) of whole house. We were experiencing pinhole leaks from 31 yr old galvenized pipe. Options were a complete re-pipe (lots of sheetrock damage), the epipe (min sheetrock damage) and new pex run thru a/c ducts with old galvenized left disconnected (???). Process included disconnecting water to the house and hooking up hoses to all outlets in the home. Machines in the garage and driveway blew hot air back to the main thru the system. Abrasive granules were then blown back to sand blast the rust inside of the pipes. Then a 2 part epoxy and hot air was blown thru leaving the inside coated like really thin pvc inside my existing pipes. Hot side was blown back to the water heater connections which were disconnected. Air pressure was used to check the system for leaks prior to the water being turned on. Prior to the process, I had to move my washing machine and refridgerator out from the wall so workers could get behind the units. And I didn't have to move out but I can't imagine staying here during the expected 5 day process without water. I was quoted about $800 less by TDT - Texas Drain Technology but their waiting list was over 60 days longer (180 total) and when I called their salesman back with questions about the process, he was so busy he didn't remember who I was.

I had to pay a lot for a quote I got from them, which I thought was ridiculous. They are very expensive compared to the others. They made a decision that they are not going to come down on their price. They sent in two people. Their quote was fifty percent higher than the other company. I would recommend them to others if they have got a lot of money. There is nothing unprofessional about these guys, it is just that they were a lot more expensive. They are not a drop everything and get to you in an emergency basis kind of people.

Overall the job went very well. It was a lot of work and took about 7 days work to complete. Why all the work you might be thinking? I decided that if I had to replace failing galvanized piping, I was going to take care of everything at one time and do it right! The only original plumbing in the 31 year old house is some of the vent and drain lines. I'm a mechanical engineer, and was very particular about what I wanted and how I wanted it done. I went as far as to draw out the pipe routing and select the parts I wanted from manufacturer catalogs. I met in person with Mike 4 times (during my lunch time) to discuss the details of the work. He was very accommodating. One time that I came in he had drawn out a schematic of the three valve bypass piping that I requested for the water filter on his white board, making sure we were on the same page. During the job, the head plumber Chris was also equally accommodating when I requested that he change/modify something, even work he had already done. During the job, Chris accidentally damaged the top plate (dbl 2x4) of one of the kitchen walls. I asked them to have a carpenter come out to evaluate what needed to be done and to repair the damage. They had a carpenter come out and take care of the repair - no fuss, complaining, or push back. I am very happy with Pickett Plumbing and would recommend them.
Description of Work: 1. Whole house re-pipe: PEX piping, 12 port hot manifold, 15 port cold manifold 2. Install whole house water filter; hose water lines piped independently 3. Re-route / reconfigure drain lines in kitchen and hall bath 4. Re-route gas line in kitchen 5. Remove all old galvanized piping 6. Modify exterior main drain line clean-out

The things went really well. I have used them before. They have a warranty called as VIP club, where it is less than $10 a month, and it gets the customer once a month or once a year check-up. I had done it, and missed the check-up the year before. I didn't realize, until I called them this time that it is not like an insurance policy, where people keep paying and never get it back. When they came out, all that money was credited to me, and that came up the bill; so that was a pleasant surprise. It was much less expensive than I thought it was going to be, even with the unexpected refund will be peaks of membership. I was really happy with that. My daughter used them first. The plumbing work is always very expensive.
Description of Work: I contacted Pickett Plumbing, LP couple of months ago to do the general check-up, and they repaired all the small things. They fixed one leaky faucet, and rebuild inside of one commode.
