They damaged the walls and areas surrounding the windows. There is permanent damage now to my wood flooring in three areas. The caulking was applied very sloppily and looks like a child had done the work. One of the doors leak air underneath of it, which is a result of the installation not the product. When I have lawn care work done, particles of grass and dust come into my home. There were blinds installed between the patio doors and they do not close completely. I had to hire three different contractors to repair the damage, which required a lot of plaster and paint. I do not recommend using this company.

Everybody was very friendly including the guys that came out to do the work. They did a wonderful job. They measured it and got it installed. I didn't price it out because I was looking for the quality of the door.

Replace all windows in house. Salesman was good but then once signed contract everyone was incredibly hard to find. Windows were ok , not as good quality as I imagined or as the sample. Installation was hurrendous. They lied, they didnt show up sometimes because they were hungover, spray foam all over my fireplace, caulking job horrible, I can't even say how bad it was. My stomach hurts just thinking about it

I wanted to replace 5 windows, and called Pella having heard about their reputation for quality. The Pella salesperson was very good and seemed to handle the ordering details competently. I received an e-mail giving me two dates: (1) when another person would come verify the window measurements; and (2) the installation date. I made room in my schedule to accommodate these events. The remeasurement took place on the promised date. On April 21, the promised installation date, I called the Pella office and inquired about the time of day the crew would arrive. I was put on hold; eventually, someone answered and told me the installation person was not in the office and would call me soon. I never heard from anyone in that office. Later that afternoon I received a call from a Pella person wanting to measure my windows yet again. Obviously the windows hadn't yet been made. I asked him to look into the matter and let me know what was going on. He promised to call me by the end of the day. Didn't happen. So, today I attempted to call the manager of the Pella store. The receptionist told me he was on another line and transferred me to voice mail. I left a message describing what had happened yesterday and the lack of response from his employees. Obviously Pella wasn't interested in my business so I cancelled the project. I left my phone number in case he wanted to discuss the matter. Crickets. There is a lot of remodeling taking place in my neighborhood. I am a Director of my HOA. I will discourage my fellow homeowners from attempting to use Pella for window replacements.

I hope this will not come across as "sour grapes," because it is anything but. I have had respect for and several good experiences with Pella in the past. However, my most recent experience with Pella has tempered my former perception of the company. You asked, "What did they do and How did it go?" Answer: They Replaced one of two Pella doors that form a double-door unit. Reason for need of replacement: water leakage from outside, presumably through bottom of glass which was not adequately sealed the last time Pella installed the unit. It was a huge surprise to me when the recent installers told me Pella doesn't do the caulking around the glass and that we would need to get someone to do it for us. What that told me - if I were to accept the installer's statement regarding the caulking (or lack thereof) - was that Pella, in installing the original four doors across the back of our house, had never bothered to seal the doors. For $1,300, or any amount charged, I would think that Pella would want their doors properly sealed, so as to ensure their longevity. (PLEASE NOTE: Charlotte Howard, Pella rep. in Houston, was always very helpful and tried to get the best arrangement for me. Unfortunately, and certainly not her fault, there is very much lacking in this recent experience.)

The windows are beautiful. We had 2 separate crews because it was a 3 day job but they handled everything nicely. After looking at several different websites, I went down to the Pella showroom to talk to a salesman and see samples of windows and doors. A Pella salesman came out to my house and took measurements of all windows and sliding glass door. Then the Site Contract Manager came out and re-measured all windows and doors. A few weeks later the Pella crew came out to install all of them. They did a wonderful job and did an excellent job cleaning up inside and out. We did have 1 window that was not sized correctly and they came back out two weeks later to install that window. Overall I'm very pleased with the installation and the windows.

Sales effort was excellent. Installation start-up was a disaster. A total lack of regard for the area inside and outside where the old windows were being removed. As it was, homeowner was as home at the same time and confronted the supervisor which changed the way the installers were proceeding with the removal. Following the initial effort in window removal the proper shields and coverings were put in place and work proceeded without any further negative installation issues. Customer service rep was on location each day at start-up and at end of work day after the first day. Post installation outside clean-up was not satisfactorly completed and after complaints to GM at Pella it took three seperate times for clean-up to be completed. The quality of the Pella windows is excellent. We are very pleased with the final result. We would use Pella again with a stronger effot during the pre-planning and supervision during installation. The advantage with Pella is that we now know what to expect and can corrrect before installtion begins. Local customer service is excellent.
Description of Work: Installed 19 various size Pella windows, following the removal of the old windows.

I scheduled an appointment on the Pella website. Strangely it seemed like it worked, but I was told that I would be contacted to confirm my appointment. No one contacted me until I called myself the day before? (not sure I'm remembering correctly) and found that they did have an appointment for me. When the Rep showed up, she was on time and professional. She walked through the house and noted all the details that would need to be taken care of during the installation. She was fairly knowledgeable about windows. The one thing that I found questionable is that she neglected to mention that for a climate like Houston, the U value of the window doesn't make as much difference in saving energy as it does in a colder climate. Instead the shading coefficient makes much more difference for saving on AC costs. I had to learn this through my own research. In the end I decided to go with a thermally broken aluminum window. I am getting it installed soon so I will see how it goes. I think that overall Pella is fairly competitive in the fiberglass window market. Their fiberglass window seems to be bottom of the line in terms of price and also quality, but I think it is probably much better than most vinyl windows still and probably a better value than some of the more expensive fiberglass windows.

It turned out pretty good. The first bit of installation, I had some problems, but they came back and fixed it. We have been happy with the outcome. They got a more qualified crew to come back out and it was better. They made sure to fix all issues that we weren’t happy about. We would go back to them if we needed more windows. I would recommend them to others. The product is great and my only issue we with the installation.

They did a fine job. There was a broken latch and they came right back out and fixed it with no problems. They also came back out to fix the seal around the door with no problems. I would recommend them to others and they did a great job. Their windows do what they say they will and help cool the house and our power bills have gone down. They came when they said they would come, and did what they needed to do. They were also quiet and respectful of my need to work while I was in the house.

I have a 48page PDF with pictures. Since I can only put in 10000 charachters here is the short answer: When checking the with the BBB you must search "Pella Windows and Doors of Houston" As of 04/08/13 Pella hired an attorney to sue me, nevermind they never finished the job and my house is in shambles. Conclusion to my experience: 1. Update 04/01/13 ? All walls and insulation of the family room need to be replaced due to mold and water damage being found. Water damage is coming up from the floor showing clearly were it came from. 1. Last conversation with Pella Houston?s Mark Wagner was that the original doors had no water stains, we have pictures, and that we owe now $7000. They wish no more communication other than payment. 2. Ask yourself, If you were the customer what do you feel you should pay for and accept? 1. Whom is responsible? 3. 1st install Pella Houston sent installers that Pella Houston says do not install Doors. Admission by Mark Wagner, Justin Meyers, and Jose Castro. 1. Why would you send a window installer to a door job and more importantly 1 that requires house framing? 4. 1st install resulted in damage and health risks. 1. Water damage, resulting in carpet and mold removal. Pella Houston proves to be slow to respond, no resolution as of 02/25/13. 1. This lack of response forced us to pay out of pocket to resolve the situation to prevent any further risk to our infant. A fact that Pella Corp or Pella Houston failed to consider as they kept saying they will take care of it but could not state when. 2. After asking several times, Justin Meyers sent an email 02/22/13 stating that Pella Houston be willing to send a check directly to the flooring store for the amount of the quote $1690.22. I immediately replied asking them to send the check to me as I do not wish to put them in the middle and have yet another unpaid bill with a bank or company to deal with when the check does not get there. As of 02/26/13 there has not been any further response to phone calls or email about the check. 1. Update: With notice, on 03/07/13 a check showed up for $1690.22 after my continued talks with Wells Fargo, whom was made aware of the check. Assumption this was done to show good faith for potential litigation. 2. It would appear that Pella Houston and installers were very aware that mold was present as it had been 2 months since we had notified them of the water situation. 1. Why had no one from Pella Corp or Pella Houston come out to try and mitigate the mold and health risks? 5. 2nd installation was never completed leaving the house exposed to water from rain even after 02/12/13, the date Justin Meyers told us he would install the Head flashing. 1. As we watched the weather and realized large storms coming our way and nobody from Pella Houston is returning our calls. I made the house water tight by completing the outside job on 02/17/13 with parts from home depot to prevent further damage. 6. Wells Fargo has answered our first dispute of the $9789.07 on 02/07/13 in favor of Pella Houston and reinstated full charge. 1. With this letter/report going to Wells Fargo we hope they will find sufficient evidence to remove all charges and cancel the card. 2. Update: the 2nd dispute with Wells Fargo was found in our favor on 03/15/13 at 13:53 CDT. The charge has been dismissed in full due to breach of contract. 1. Note: on 03/15/13 just after 10:00am someone from Pella Houston dropped off the missing molding on the back porch of the house. 2. Note: on 03/15/13 at 10:22am Mark Wagner Operating Officer of Pella Houston called and made an off to settle for $7k. I counted with $2k and $5k respectively both were taken and considered. A return call on 03/15/13 at 11:40am from Mark Wagner said the owners rejected my counter and said $7k or they sue. I have not responded as of COB 03/15/13. 7. Pella Corp introduced me to Pella Windows and Doors of Houston without informing me that they are a different company with a slightly different name. 1. This prevented me from looking up the proper company in the BBB directory to discover not to use Pella Windows and Doors of Houston. 8. Pella Corp informed me that Pella Windows and Doors of Houston is the only Pella Certified installers in Houston, Tx and surrounding area. 1. Pella Corp stated clearly that a certified installer from another area was not allowed to perform the installation. 9. Pella Houston personnel and installers have made it clear that they have not, nor do they plan too, read and follow the instructions that come attached to each door. 1. It is also clear that the standard procedures that Pella Houston use can only result in trapping moisture between the door frame and house. 1. Why? They insist on putting shims through the caulk lines both on the bottom and sides of doors sealing large areas with no escape for moisture. 2. It is also clear that the standard procedures that Pella Houston use can only result in warping the door frame causing a crooked door. 1. Why? On both installs the installers were installing screws without shims behind them. (Pella instructions say specifically DO NOT do this.) On the 2nd install I stopped the installers and had them take the screws out and reinstall with shims behind each screw. They did so begrudgingly. 3. Note: Justin Meyers informed me that Chad and Justin now have an enclosed trailer. I found this appalling for 2 reasons: 1. This means that either Pella Houston does not verify what equipment the installers use or this is standard practice. (Besides I don?t really believe they got a new trailer, as if it matters to me.) 2. This means Chad and John are still installing doors and windows by themselves. Customers are going to have huge problems if not immediate in time there will be mold or other issues. 3. Update: On 03/15/13 Mark Wagner told me that Chad and John have now been trained to install Doors. (Why bother telling me? Still does not excuse Pella Corp or Pella Windows and doors Houston for their actions.) 10. Pella Houston personnel consistently lied to me about a variety of items in specific whom was to install the doors, when jobs would be completed, if they had purchased the parts, and the validity of the warranty.
Description of Work: Install 3 doors (Front, Back, and Sliding) Front door required reframming to widen the opening.

There were some problems with the windows that they built, so I called them and they immediately scheduled to come out. They were very quick and efficient with the work. It was covered under the warranty and it was free. When I had the window replaced last month, I had to pay for it.
Description of Work: Pella Windows & Doors - Houston came out and fixed the windows. I had existing windows, had to break in and they had to build new windows. They did the job with all that.

The crew arrived when on time and got to work dealing with the rotten wood on the casing for 2 of the doors. They were very professinal and willingly answered any questions. They installed a door knockere and peep hole in the front door. Great experience with Pella and I will use them again if the need arises.
Description of Work: Placed 3 entry doors with prepainted fiber glass doors. Included removing the old doors, the old door casings and one storm door. They poured quick setting concrete on two of the doors before installing the brass threshold. They put insullation around the frame so no light in visible. They put in new indoor and outdoor trim for each door. Plastic sheeting was put up to minimize the amount of sawdust, etc when removing the old door. The crew swept up any debrise. The crew did a great job.

The estimate was free. They were really expensive. I would use them if I win the lottery. It was around $800 per window for vinyl windows and $1,500 for wooden windows; that was with a 30 percent discount. They were really professional and have great service, but they were just too expensive.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from Pella Window & Door Company for windows.

I received an early appointment when I called for a quote, and the sales representative was knowledgeable and helpful without giving me a canned sale pitch or putting any pressure on me to purchase her product. Once I decided to go with Pella, she and a project manager returned to finalize the quote and measure all the openings. Each meeting took around 45 minutes. I received a 30% product discount from a promotion that was running at the time I ordered the windows, and a 2% discount for paying cash up front. I was extremely happy with the final price, and with the attention given to all the details of each product I ordered. The sales rep gave me a number of helpful and cost-saving recommendations on how to get the best results for the best price. Installation took place 4 weeks from the time I ordered the windows. The installers arrived on time and with all necessary materials. One installer worked inside the house, while one more installer and the project foreman worked outside. They removed one opening at a time. Each window was tarped inside to reduce dust, and the floor inside and ground outside the window were tarped to collect glass fragments. Each old window was removed, the frame cleaned and prepped, and the new window installed, sealed, and caulked before the team moved to the next window. The project took two days to complete. The final project looks wonderful. The windows are beautiful, quiet, and well-insulated. The fit and finish work is exemplary. The job site was kept extremely clean and left that way after the job was completed. I do have one small issue with a framing board that appears loose, and I plan to call and have that problem corrected. The installers were quiet, unobtrusive, and efficient during the entire job. I highly recommend this company for replacement windows, and am very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Pella replaced all our windows with Impervia aluminum composite replacement windows. They installed 22 windows in 19 openings throughout our one-story house. Installations included windows into frames and into brick. We had four picture windows and one awning window installed, with the balance being single-hung windows. The awning window required installation of a new supporting window frame, as it was installed in the kitchen, and the granite countertop and tile backsplash prevented the installers from cutting into the drywall and installing the window into the wall. Installers removed all existing windows, cleaned the new windows prior to leaving the job site, and removed all trash, packing materials, broken glass, etc. from the premises.
