 + -1 moreRichard was able to come the next morning after I called. He called that morning to let me know he was on his way. He was very professional and personable. He was very willing to answer all my questions. I will call him if I have problems in the future, although he showed me several ways to prevent future problems.
Description of Work: Checked both desktop and laptop for problems. Took desktop to his shop for cleaning as it was very dusty inside the CPU. Added utilities to help keep the machines running smoothly (i.e. remove spyware, etc.) and explained to me how to use them.

He deleted stuff we didn't need, fixed a Microsoft issue, he is certified by Microsoft, and loaded some good free antivirus software. He took the time to answer any question I had. He was efficient and now our computer runs very well Would highly recommend him.

 + -1 moreI called Richard today with a quick question regarding AnitVirus software. He answered my question promptly and pointed me in the right direction to get the download I needed. I have used Richard for the last 10 years for my PC help when needed. He is extremely knowledgeable and patient and works efficiently. He has helped me with my personal machines, desktops and laptops as well as business network and various machines there. He has also helped me father on many occasions with his PC woes. I would recommend Richard very highly and he is very fair priced and dependable.

 + -1 moreDid not come out to connect the printer. Would not use this guy again.
Description of Work: This is a follow-up to my January 26, 2011 report. I had U-Verse Internet installed few weeks ago and although I thought I was overcharged for what he did at the last appointment, (see report ) I thought I would give him another chance. I called to ask if he would come out and connect the priner to the U-Verse. His reply was, "I am getting ready to go out of town. Just put in the printer's CD. It's very simple. That's all you have to do. If I charged a customer $160 to set up a printer and remove a hard drive I would certainly make the effort to either set an appointment to connect the printer or offer to come out when I returned . The U-Verse was installed in June and I was not in a great rush to connect the printer. In fairness to him. I did not state this. He really didn't give me a chance to say anything. I put in the CD but was not able to get it connected. I will call another company.

 + -1 moreHe charged about $60 more than he quoted, and took a lot longer than was scheduled. He said he had a little trouble setting it up but did not explain the problem. He also removed the hard drive from my old computer. Have not had any trouble at all. Printer works perfectly, also fax, copier, scanner.
Description of Work: PC Dude set up a new wireless printer that was in the box. He was professional, arrived on time and did a good job.

 + -1 moreA guy named Richard came over and he was excellent. He had to go and get some other components that I don't remember. He installed Wi-Fi for my computer and it works really well what he has finished. The computer language doesn't come very naturally to me, and most of the time I have no idea what people discuss about it. I usually look around for a menu and he has been truly terrific about that. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of PC Dude about 4 or 5 months ago. He cleaned it up a couple of times. He put in Wi-Fi for my computer.

 + -1 moreRichard is quite simply "the best" at what he does. My wife praised his professionalism, his incredible knowledge, his skill, and his desire to make the computer fit her personal needs in the most efficient way possible. Most of all, he came to our home within one hour of her call to him.
Description of Work: My wife's computer had slowed to a crawl. Richard came within one hour of her call, spent 2 hours, and quite simply totally refurbished her computer to make it: fast, much more "used friendly", more organized, with a better organized desk top and a more logical icon layout, and installed monthly service programs to help keep it that way.

He was right on time, pleasant and professional, and did not suggest expensive repairs, etc. I had considered getting a new laptop and he said my current one was perfectly fine and functional -- I appreciated the information and the lack of hype on the need to upgrade to a new laptop.
Description of Work: My laptop had the terminal slow-downs. PC Dude cleaned up the hard drive, installed free spyware, and showed me how to periodically "clean things up" to prevent this from happening again.

 + -1 moreI can't imagine how Richard could have been more helpful. He explained every step he performed and often told me of any options. He was extremely efficient and courteous. Richard was very patient with all my questions and answered them to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: I could not start my computer due to "a corrupted or missing file". Richard came out to my house (outside his normal service area) and completely fixed and updated it. He also upgraded the virus protection and changed the security settings to be more effective.

 + -1 moreRichard downloaded a new driver that made the screen begin working again. Plus he also cleaned up my laptop (deleted a lot of software I didn't use after confirming with me that i didn't use it; changed my security software to improve response time; reconfigured my files to improve efficiency; updated software that I DO use). He had the laptop less than 48 hours. Plus he arranged to pick it up and drop it off at locations and times that were convenient for me as well as for him.
Description of Work: When fully booted up, my laptop would not display the desktop with icons. The screen was totally black. I could start and use it in "safe mode" but the screens looked strange. Plus it had become VERY slow.

 + -1 moreI could never have gotten that refund on my own. He is a great guy, he is fast, he is polite and punctual - he's just an all around nice guy. I can't say enough nice things about him!
Description of Work: He did several things for me. I had originally called merely to install a new modem that I had bought. Once he got here, he installed the modem and checked everything else. He discovered I had no virus protection, but I thought that I had. He got on the phone with the company that I had purchased Anti-virus from and got me a refund from them! He also had discovered a wire installed incorrectly which was slowing down the function of the computer.

 + -1 moreRichard was on time on both occasions of coming to my home. He was so nice, yet professional and thorough. He conscientiously sought solutions that would keep the cost to a minimum. The final cost was very reasonable. I got more than what I paid for in his customer service. Definitely, he will be the one I call in the future.
Description of Work: My computer suddenly crashed, and it could not read my files. I found PC DUDE on Angie's List and was impressed by the comments regarding his services. He arrived the same day he was contacted and worked on my computer. Since the hard drive was damaged, he took it with him in order to access the tools, etc. at his site. He was able to salvage 95% of my files, reloaded everything plus some extra helpful features to maintain my computer better. (He even gave me back my old hard drive in case there might be something important still left on it). The work was completed the same day, and we scheduled delivery the next morning. He took the time to explain everything to me and to give me some helpful tips. Great customer service!
