There service was very good. They were really prompt, flexible, and honest. The lady who performed the estimate was very responsive and understood our problems with pricing. I was able to express my priorities. The man who installed the insulation did a very good job and was very neat with his work.

Fantastic experience, Casey came out and did a very thorough job inspecting our house, and talking to us about our options. After asking for several bids from different contractors, these were hands down the people that did the best job of putting together a bid that I was confident would do what I was expecting. Upon approval they were quick to schedule the work, and did an excellent job with the installation. I couldn't be happier with their service.

The work was quoted in February. Susana O'Docharty was very thorough in providing multiple insualtion options such as in-wall, attic and even underfloor batting or spray-on insulation. I procrastinated until May, but Susana did not try to revise quotes in the lead up to what I assume is a busy summer season. She had ample opportunity to upsell me in the process, but actually advised me to go with the attic-only approach first since that should provide the most cost effective improvement. I appreciated the honesty and the lack of hard sell tactics. The work was done in one morning and the climate in the house is noticeably more stable. I probably only picked up one degree improvement on my thermostat, but I think it's significant. Prior to the work, the temperature always seemed a little warm whenever the AC was not running. Now, the house can remain pleasant for a long time after the AC stops. I think it has saved some start/stop wear and tear on my unit. I am very happy with how the attic looks, how the work was done and the performance thus far. Payless is an honest outfit with informed salespeople and good workers. I think the insualation solutions they offer are priced very reasonably for what you are get.
Description of Work: Payless installed 10" of Cel-Bar cellulose insulation in my attic. Cel-Bar is a blown-in insulation, so it cannot be rolled out or pulled back like fiberglass blankets. Work took ~3.5 hours including some minor clean up of old insulation. They also installed recessed lighting shield to prevent and leakage of heat and to protect the fixtures. Workers were courteous and professional. I stressed to them the importance of getting all the way to the outside wall and not missing any spots and they appear to have done a very thorough and attentive job. My front door did have to stay open for that time to allow the vacuum hose to go into the house, however I had no windows on that side of the house that could be opened.

Well, just as my previous report this experience was superb. In fact, I would rate this company A++ if there were such a category. Casey Wilson did the evaluation and proposal. She is one of the most expert, experienced, and professional people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She spent between 1 and 2 hours evaluating my situation and went over just about every corner of my property. In fact, during her inspection she found a water leak I did not know existed! Her proposal was quite expert and broken down into several recommendations depending on how much upgrading I wanted to do and how much I wanted to spend. I selected an intermediate level (brought my insulation up to R30 which is the minimum for HVAC performance. I put off some of her other recommendations (attic tents, etc.) for another time. I simply cannot say enough positive things about Casey. Now for the actual job. The workers, Raul and Santiago, arrived on time. They were efficient, courteous, pleasant, and professional. They cleaned up after their job and did their work quietly and expertly. I don't know what else to say. What more could one ask of them? The 'service after the sale' is also outstanding! Approximately 1 week after the insulation was installed by AC went out. I thought it might have been related to something they did in the electrical panel. I called the emergency number on Saturday morning and spoke to Elisa. She said she would send an AC repair person out that day! No questions, no hassle, just help. I was slightly stunned by this level of service. A very nice young man came out within a couple of hours and discovered that my switch to the AC unit had a broken wire. It had absolutely nothing to do with the insulation work. Just a coincidence in time. He repaired the switch and was on his way. No charge even though it had no connection to Payless!! I wish I could find other service companies with this level of service. I will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to all my friends and family.

The Estimator, Scheduler and the laborers were all professional and punctual. They wore booties when stepping on the carpets and floors. The final price didn't vary from the estimated price. Although the Estimator changed the original estimated price because the original price took into consideration of a 12 inch gap between the ceiling and the floor above. The Estimator came back a second time and confirmed that the gap was actually 18 inches. Also, during the insulation service, the laborers found out that the Estimator missed the estimation on shared walls. Those were estimated at 4 inches, instead of 8 inches. However, they didn't increase the charges. With any job, minor things happen; there were a few scrapes on the walls from the equipment and a few dirty finger marks. But these are minor and fixable. They insulated a "cold" room in the condo where the builder forgot to insulate. The builder didn't insulate between the floors. I could hear everything from the upstairs neighbors, including walking, talking and recently, their dog barking. After the job, I wouldn't say all the noises were eliminated; however, the soundproofing did make some noise reduction. Instead of hearing everything, the noises have been reduced to mumbled sounds, which I can live with. The only thing that I had to deal with after they finish the job was to re-paint the walls and ceilings.
Description of Work: The job included soundproofing and insulating the condo. The Estimator came out on time and gave an estimate. Three laborers came out for two days to perform the job. They moved and covered everything first. Then, they drilled holes, about the size of a quarter, throughout the ceiling and the walls. They pumped the fiber material into the holes. They filled the holes up with foam and speckling paste.

No problems at all. We added 10.6" of blown-in cellulose insulation to bring us up to an R-38 rating. The cellulose material is also insect and rodent retardant. We liked that! They came, they blew it in, they cleaned-up well and left!
Description of Work: Problem: Our original insulation had compacted down to an undesirable depth. We needed to add some to save energy costs. Got 3 estimates. Chose this company due to choice of insulative material ratings, and company reviews.

As you can see from the narrative above and the straight A's it went well. I believe I covered the story enough in the paragraph above.
Description of Work: Energy efficiency audit consisting of determination of number and significance of air leaks throughout the house and attic. Dan and Lane performed the service and Casey observed. They located and evaluated quite a number of air leaks, some significant and some not. They were right on time and quite efficient as well as very professional. They made some excellent recommendations as to what I could do myself (and save some money) and what they should do (which luckily wasn't as much as I feared it might be). They also made recommendations as to what I could do if I chose to later such as removing the insulation wrap (50 years old +) and sealing the main trunk line and re-wrapping it with new insulation. I decided not to do it at this time as that is a fairly large job and I wanted to have some additional insulation blown in first. They also gave me some excellent suggestions as to how I could make my air conditioning and heating units more efficient and save space in the mechanical room that housed the units. They were neat and cleaned up and the entire job took about 4 hours. Between what they did and what I learned I feel I received good value for my money. I'm glad Casey was there because she explained some of the details while Dan and Lane were working so they didn't have to slow down to do it (which they would have gladly done if she hadn't been there).

Go with Payless Insulation, they are fantastic "Do" chose Payless for your insulation needs. You won't be disappointed. "Do" get estimates from insulation companies not A/C companies. The A/C company's estimates were much higher. "Do" get insulation during the cooler months, a door has to be left open to get the equipment inside. "Don't" procrastinate (like I did) and get the insulation installed during a heat wave. I wish I would have done is sooner!
Description of Work: I called Payless Insulation to get an estimate on attic insulation. The estimator, Ken, arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and polite. He measure the house from the outside and in the attic. His quote was 300 to 400 less than the other three quotes we received. We gave him to go ahead, the office call back later that afternoon and service was scheduled the following day! The installers came on time, were very polite, the job was done in less than 3 hours. The installer did let me know that our new A/C was installed with lots of tape and the tape was coming off. I wish I remembered his name, he was very polite and I would like to thank him again for letting me know about the A/C. I did notice that the guys kept checking on each other, making sure each one was well hydrated. It was refreshing to see the installers following safety guidelines and not taking shortcuts. It was 100+ degrees outside the day they came out to install the insulation. Our electric bill has dropped about 150.00 each month. I can't give an exact cost savings because we had problems with the new A/C but the insulation has definitely helped. I can feel the difference in the ceiling, I can't feel the heat coming through. Payless did a fantastic job from start to finish. I would recommend them to anyone!

They turned my hot water heater off up in the attic. I called the company and they sent out someone who could speak English to turn in back on. They were clean and neat. They insulated the whole attic, and I told them that I did not want it all done, because I wanted to store some things up there. They did not understand. It all turned out good at the end. The estimator got here when she said she'd be here. She measured the house from the outside then from the attic. There was no haggling on the estimate, which was a surprise, but it was a reasonable estimate. I called her back after she emailed me the estimate and scheduled it to happen. The installers showed up on time and put plastic down on the carpets. They were very friendly. The job took 3 hours. They showed me the work when done. WOW! They did a thorough job! They showed me how to operate the attic stair tent and it is HOT in the attic. That is the idea. Keep the heat in the attic! I did a LOT of research on what materials were the best to use for insulation, and hands-down, the cellulose stuff they used has the highest R rating (R38?) and as it settles, it insulates even better! They ensured that the A/C units' pans were cleared and the pilot light on the water heater was clear and still on. They cleaned up the upstairs like they were never here. It is already cooler in the house upstairs! The installers had a lot of great things to say about the materials they used. They are confident that the house will be cooler starting today! Overall, a great experience! I recommend Payless!

Overall, I was satisfied with the job that Payless Insulation provided. However, they managed to crack the ceiling in one area, but the company responded quickly and sent someone out as soon as possible to repair and paint the damaged area. If I were to give the ceiling repairman a grade, it would be a "D". Their effort to match a textured ceiling was very poor. I'm happy with the insulation job, but disappointed in the repair job. Update: I reported the problem with the ceiling repair job, and the company was very persistent in making the job right. They sent their crew back out, and repaired the job to a satisfactory state. I was very pleased with their desire to make the job right, and I would recommend Payless Insulation to anyone else.

We had Casey come out and give us an estimate and she was very thorough in her measurements and in her quote. She offered a variety of options and choices. We hired them to blow in 10.5" of insulation in the attic of our 4,200 sq ft home and we also had some bats installed in another portion of the attic. The crew that blew in the insulation was here most of the day, were very professional and we loved the fact that they cleaned up very well before they left. Definitely some less expensive alternatives, but we feel it was worth the extra $$$ to do business with Casey.

Home is about 10 years old and original builder cut corners on insulation. Had noticed problems with hotspots in 2nd floor and air infiltration from attic to 2nd floor. After some personal inspection determined that: #1 There were open duct chases from attic through 2nd floor to 1st floor, allowing hot attic air to get in behind drywall in interior of 2nd floor. Unfiltered attic air was being sucked through these into the 2nd floor. #2 Attic insulation did not go all the way to the sill on the soffit ends. There were baffles every 5 or 6 bays and the insulation did not even go up to them, leaving about 18" of uninsulated ceiling. #3 Some areas under attic decking had no insulation and other areas had settled. Called Payless Insulation. The estimator Ken came out promptly and evaluated the space. He was professional, attentive, detailed, and honest. He stated clearly that most of my insulation was up to minimum code except the areas where it was clearly missing and that I could expect a small return on the investment but nothing dramatic. I appreciated that. He was also very knowledgeable and took the time to discuss the pros and cons of adding more blown fiberglass versus moving it and adding cellulose or other options. The estimate was $859.20. Keep in mind that they were doing about a half dozen small jobs, so each job ranged between $100-300. After approving the proposal, they called me promptly to schedule the work the next week, which was very convenient for my schedule. The two-man team arrived PROMPTLY at 8AM and assessed the situation. They were efficient, professional, and pleasant to work with. They asked questions about exactly what I wanted and protected surfaces from damage. These guys took the time to set the job up right. They first installed all the baffles and covered the chases. There was one they missed initially because I had covered it up previously, but as soon as I pointed it out they jumped on it. They even assisted me in prepping an area so the insulation would install better, which I really should have done before they arrived. They asked me to look at the work before they covered it, which also showed great customer and quality focus. Then they installed the attic tent. I was surprised by this but afterward realized it proved they were thinking smart and considering the client. This allowed them to ZIP UP around the hose to minimize fiber infiltration into the 2nd floor when they were blowing the fiberglass! They ran the hose through a 2nd floor window and I swear there was not a speck of dust after they were done. Once completed, they asked me to come upstairs and inspect the work. I was as blown away by the thoroughness. Not only did they get a good coverage at the soffits, and all the nooks and crannies under the decking, but they filled any low spots and topped off everywhere it needed it. Frankly, they exceeded my expectations. Cleanup was fast and thorough as well. After reviewing the work and signing off completion, I indicated I wanted to pay by credit card, which I did by calling it in. The amount quoted was the exact amount charged. Customer service there was friendly and efficient as well. Kudos to a fantastic company. Reasonable price for the work done, friendly customer service, professional proposing, and an awesome installation team. These guys represent the best experience I have ever had with a contractor doing work on my home. If you need insulation, don't use anybody but Payless Insulation.
Description of Work: Installed air baffles to all soffit cavities Sealed five attic duct chases (cavities that went from attic through second floor to first floor) Installed attic tent Blew fiberglass insulation around soffit cavities and any other areas where insulation was not present and topped off insulation in other attic areas.

The quote was given on January 26. The installer's arrived on time and had me walk them through what I expected. I added a twist to the original plan and they took it in stride. The 3 installers, headed by Raul, were very professional. Due to a mis-communication with the woman who quoted the job, we had not prepared the room properly. They worked around our junk without complaint. Raul used his head - when he found some existing insulation in the attic where we thought there was none, he worked around it, added a bit to it and used the extra to fill in some wall spaces that the quoter had missed. They left as little mess as possible and Raul was very thorough in explaining all that he did. He even insulated the attic ladder! The price was exactly as quoted. They worked from 9 am until the job was done at 5:30 pm with only a reasonable lunch break. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Insulation was installed in four walls and the ceiling of an existing room above our garage. It was a combination of "green" batting type and blown in.

Perfect service from the estimate to the new lower utility bills! They showed up on time (7:00 am) to my house in Dickinson - first thing in the morning so I didn't get to miss much work. They worked with me on the quirkiness of my job (broken attic stairs from previous A/C contractor, winding stairway, barking dog). They installed the product quickly and cleaned up after themselves. Very professional. The best part is I have truly realized the savings on my electric bill.
