Payless Insulation

My daughter got this company's number from my Angie's List book. Said she would highly recommend them to anyone with glowing marks on all aspects. I don't know the cost or actual date of service so had to guess on date. She did say the price was fair and they did an excellent job and made the least mess possible.

Casey Wilson gave us a written proposal for the work we wanted to have done to our house. The estimate was detailed and when the work was done - there were no extra charges. We didn't pay anything until the work was completed to our satisfaction. The crew from Payless arrived when they said they would and started working right away. The crew was pleasant and respectful of our property and let us know how they were progressing on the job. They spent 2 entire days completing the work and cleaned up each day after themselves. Because of the age of our house, we had no insulation in the exterior walls and needed more in the attic. We also had them install an attic tent above the access stairs in our hallway. Payless Insulation did an excellent job on everything. We have noticed a difference in sound and also heat. We have never found a good way to weather strip and insulate around the opening for the stairs, but the attic tent has done an amazing job. When the stairs are pulled down - you cannot feel any heat coming from the attic. We would recommend this to everyone - even people with new construction. We highly recommend Payless Insulation for the products we had them install and for the professional manner of their crew.

The free home energy audit went very well. Larry came ten minutes ahead of schedule, sat down with me to explain the services that he specialized in, listened to my concerns regarding my energy consumption, performed a thorough walk-thru of the home and did not try to sell me anything. He recommended additional attic installation after one year. In less than 30-45 minutes he completed the audit. Since he was honest, I asked him to give me a call in a year so that I could purchase additional installation through his company. The one thing that I really appreciated was the information he provided regarding home maintenance, such as filter replacement schedules for homes with pets, AC tuneups, thermometer settings, etc.

The woman who initially came out to give me an estimate was punctual and responded with an estimate via email very quickly. Further discussion via email and phone was always timely. When the installers came they were on time and kept things pretty clean. There was one issue during installation of the interior wall insullation where the sheet rock separated from the wall. I did not initially notice it but when I did I emailed them (a week or so later) and they scheduled a sheet rock guy to come and he fixed it up and repainted the wall. I was very satisified.

Casey called, made an appointment to come assess the house for insulation, arrived on time and did a great job finding out what was needed to better insulate my vaulted ceiling house. She discussed various possibilities for added insulation and subsequently emailed me a proposal. She was very professional, informed, open to discussion for various possibilities to achieve my goals of a better insulated house. She knows her business!

Called them, the est. was done next day and the insulation job was done in 4 days. Our small 30-year old townhome only had 4-inch fiberglass insulation in 1,000 sqft attic area. They did a fantastic job and also give us some suggestions regarding the attic issues. After a couple of months, we're sure that we're saving $10-20 on our monthly electricity bill. Already recommended the company to our friends and will us them again in the future certainly.

The bid was very thorough and the salesperson was very prompt and follow up with me. I decided to not do insulation at this point, but if I do I will call again.

KEN BARRON THE SALESPERSON WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. GAVE ME THE PROS AND CONS OF VARIOUS INSULATING MATERIALS, AND GAVE A GOOD PRICE. WORKERS CAME ON THE DAY PROMISED AND THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB. CLEANED UP AFTER THE INSTALLATION. ALL IN ALL WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS COMPANY, AND WOULD HAVE NO QUALMS RECOMMENDING IT TO OUR FRIENDS ETC.

We called them back to do more insulation after they did our entire attic along with walls of Master Bedroom addition. We used Cellbar and I can highly recommend it. The combination of this insulation and two new AC units resulted in our summer electric bill dropping from $300/mo to $100/mo. We also had the underside of our attic sprayed with a 1" layer of "sticky" Cellbar and have been very pleased with this application as it has kept the temperature in our attic much cooler than it had been. It has never been hotter than the outside temperature since then.

Very professional. Arrived for estimate and work on time or a little early. They did what they said they would do. And the benifit of the insulation is already evident. I would use them and reccomend them.

They came out took a look at the insulation that was installed in my stairwell and in the attic. I had a feeling that it needed to be replaced, and they also confirmed that it would be cost efficient to replace it. Suzanna Odocharty was Excellent she was very informative, she did her homework and provided me with booklets and pamplets with information and options for insulating my attic and stairs. She was very forth-coming and very honest she let me know about all my options. She even told me that I could wait on some parts of the service. I wanted to replace the stairwell insulation with something green, she told me it would not be cost effiecient to replace it at this time. I was looking to go with some greener options in terms of the types of insulations and Suzanna was very helpful with exploring these options. If I need insulation I will use Payless Insulation in the future.

We were very impressed. Ken Baron came out to give us an estimate within days of our initial call. He was punctual, brought brochures on the materials they use & took time to explain each item in the estimate. On the day of the work, three young men came out & did their job in a very professional manner. They were punctual, polite & did the job in a timely fashion. They cleaned up after themselves & when they left you would hardly know they had been here. We are very happy with the work that was done. We would recommend this company to our friends & use them again in the future.

The Payless team arrived on time and quickly got to work. They insulated our garage attic in a few hours and called the office to get our payment information. It went well, and I'd use their services again.

The crew arrived on time as scheduled. The team covered the hardwood floors and stairs with plastic and taped everything down securely where they were walking within the house. While the insulation work took place in the attic, the crew sealed off the doorway to the attic. The few larger items that I could not move in the attic were all relocated together in one spot and cover with plastic as well.

Very pleaswed with the product and service

The experience overall was very positive. I would highly recommend this company. Their price was also lower than several other estimates I had received. The insulation in my attic was very old and musty and caused a bad smell in the house. I requested an estimate to remove the old insulation and replace it with new. They provided a detailed estimate that itemized the costs for removing the old, installing the new, accounted for an area that was likely to be inaccessible (flat roof section), and even included a lower cost option than removal to eliminate the odor in the house. This was very helpful. The sales person was very knowledgeable and discussed the options with me without any high pressure sales tactics. I decided to proceed with my original plan. They were flexible in scheduling and accommodated my request to remove the old on one day and install the new several weeks later so I had time to complete some work that needed to be done in the attic. The technicians showed up on time and were courteous and professional. The lead tech kept me informed of the progress. The quality of the work was excellent. They worked hard to get as much of the area under the flat roof as possible (access is very very tight), but since they couldn't get 100%, they did not charge me for the area. They ensured the house and yard was clean before they left. I have noticed a big difference in the temperature in the house and the smell is gone. The insulation they used is efficient and doesn't irritate my skin or lungs like fiberglass does.

The work was done efficiently and in a timely manner. When they left the job was clean and we had no complaints.

It was in the middle of summer and bloody hot in the attic, but their workman did an amazing job anyway. I got other estimates from other companies and Payless is definitely on the higher end of pricing, but I went with them anyway due to the fact they've been around a long time and I felt comfortable they would stand behind their product. Ken Barron is not a pushy salesman and always returned calls when I had questions. I did the radiant barrier silver paint job on the underside of the deck, and I still kind of feel like this is a sort of unproven technology even with the slick brochures, but hey, this is Houston, and even if it helps only a quarter of what they say it does, then I guess in the long run it will help with the AC bills. I also went with the max amount of blown-in cellulose insulation, R38. It took two full days to do the job, one for the radiant barrier and the next day for the blown-in insulation. My attic area was a total of 1290 square feet. The house was definitely more comfortable after all was finished, so I know insulation makes a big difference and will pay for itself over time. Payless did a great job under blistering conditions.

It went absolutely flawlessly from my initial contact with them to the measurement and estimate and finally to the installation. Six men carefully covered the flooring of my home and then spent more than eight hours putting in the insulation. After the work was done they carefully removed the plastic and swept up any remaining debris. Their work totally exceeded my greatest expectations and I am a dyed in the wool perfectionist.

The company estimator came to my home and was very professional and we discussed different types of insulations (i.e. pros and cons). She was very informative which helped me to make a decision how to best conserve energy in my home. Work crew showed up on time and finished timely. Very nice employees and alerted me to the fact that another company had put insulation around my fireplace in the attic and they removed the insulation blown in by another company who should have never blown insulation on top and around the fireplace. Could have been a fire hazard. Thank you to Payless for a job well done.

Susana from Payless, showed up on-time for the estimate and did a very good job of explaining their product for both attic insulation as well as adding wall insulation. Our home is a 57 year old house in southwest Houston. It had no insulation in the walls and little in the attic. Susana was very professional and discussed their service very honestly. We chose to use Payless for the walls yet went with another contractor for the attic. The primary reason was price as Payless was ~$550 more expensive for the attic insulation. Payless installation team showed up on-time for the walls. It used a crew of 3 people. They did not have enough time to complete the job so they left without cleanup. Additionally the technician, who filled in the holes created in the process, did a very sloppy job. Since the holes are visible on my home?s exterior this was not acceptable. I sent an e-mail to Susana and the office manager, Sharon. Both folks responded the next morning. They apologized for the poor workmanship and had 2 technicians come back to the house. The technicians proceeded to fix all issues. In fact they took more time fixing the poor workmanship than the doing the original installation. The resultant job is excellent and I am very satisfied. Payless indicated that customer service and a good job is their #1 goal and they obviously stand behind their words. Note both insulation contractors I used are on Angie?s list and both are rated highly. I highly recommend Payless Insulation based on their customer service. I would never go with the attic insulation contractor. In my opinion, they have extremely poor customer service and they do NOT stand behind their work. My suggestion is always look at the rating histogram and review an poor ratings. That gives a good indication of a companies? approach of handling problems which can occur when doing any service.

The crew was scheduled to arrive "between 7:30 and 8:30 am". The company called me the day before to confirm time and scope of work. They arrived at 7:25 a.m driving an impressive, clean BIG truck with the company logo on the side. The team lead met with me and once again reviewed the scope of work to be done and the materials to be used. The objective was to insulate an existing attached two car garage, to make it suitable for air conditioning and heating. The company added blown-in insulation (celbar) to the attic and three outside walls. They also added insulation to the garage door. They insulated the walls by drilling three 1 inch holes in the sheetrock for each cavity between wall studs and blowing insulation into the wall until it packed tight. The garage door was insulated by applying 2 inch thick pads made of recycled denim (cotton) and securing it with metal bands attached with sheet metal screws. The insulation was compressed with the metal bands, forming a smooth layer of insulation that completely filled all the cavities in each garage door panel (16 panels). They tested the functioning of the garage door afterward to make sure the added insulation did not affect the opener performance. Prior to beginning the job, everything in the hallway of my house (access to attic) and the garage was covered with plastic to keep insulating material away from carpet and things stored in the garage. After the job was complete, they patched every drilled hole in the garage walls, removed the plastic and vacuumed. The garage and my hallway were totally clean after they finished. The supervisor took me into the attic with a floodlight to inspect the work done in the attic. The supervisor presented the invoice and reviewed the breakdown of all the charges. The total bill exactly matched the bid I had received two months prior to the work. One word easily describes this company: PROFESSIONAL I would use them again.
