Six month's earlier they replaced my A/C; however, I did not have my furnace replaced at that time. My heater was not working, so I called them out to inspect it. Randy came out and inspected my unit, showing me pictures of problems with my furnace and duct work! He informed me that my system needed to be replaced and that my other furnace would need to be replaced shortly. Randy gave me a great price for replacing my a/c system and an additional furnace, along with adding additional vents. The workers showed up promptly on the day that they said they would show up. It took them all day to complete the job and they were extremely professional, nice, respectful. They covered my stairs before bringing everything in and cleaned up everything after! I am very pleased with they work and will definitely call them in the future!

Outstanding experience all around. I had 3 other estimates, all recommending more tonnage than I needed. North wind also recommended changes to the vents to more efficiently balance air flow. They were always responsive, explaining every step. Technicians were efficient, polite and quick. The city inspector said the installation as “perfect.” And my electric bill is less than half what it was with the old system.

Northwind did a great job installing an entire ac system with new ductwork. The only hiccup was that they placed the secondary drainage on the front porch but they moved it to the original drain placement to my satisfaction. I thought the house was cooling fine but after the new system I realize how much cooler my sons bedrooms should have been.

The initial work performed by Northwind went well as did 1st Maintenance visit (a year later) when I purchased a maintenance agreement to cover the cost of that visit and the Fall unit check. The problem started during that next year. The system went down and I called for 24 service, which they offer. No one returned my call over the weekend so on Monday I called again. When I asked about 24 hour service the lady ignored my question and asked what I needed. Apparently they didn't have enough service folks because she told me it was going to be 4 days. With the AC out, lack of response over the weekend, her rude tone and the long wait for service, I decided to call another company. Since Northwind was not able to fulfill their maintenance agreement, I called back later to ask for a refund on the remainder of the contract cost. The rude lady turned out to be one of the owners. While we argued about the refund, she had the nerve to tell me what a good deal I had gotten on the system. Earlier this year, 4 years in operation, the copper coils were leaking and needed replacing ($1400 in labor) I do understand that the coil problem was industry wide but I have to wonder if they knew when installing a 2010 model. The biggest problem was the rudeness and lack of service.
Description of Work: AC unit replaced (Ruud, 3 1/2 ton). It was a 2010 model installed in 2012.

I had a new roof put on my rental house and the downstairs AC wasn't working. While the roofer was going to pay for the repair with his own AC company if they caused it, I wanted my own AC person to make that determination to be sure the roofer didn't try to claim it wasn't him. I had another AC company come out and they checked the system over, fixed a couple of things and said there was a leak in the system and told the tenant that they would need to contact me before doing any more work. I felt uncomfortable with some of the work they did and what they were telling me, so I chose to use Northwind to identify the leak. I asked a neighbor if they had a recommendation and while they had not used Northwind, they heard that Northwind had experienced techs. I called Northwind, told them I needed a leak identified and a determination if it was the roofer or not. They said it would be a $75 service call. I said if it was not the roofer, they had my approval to do the repair without contacting me as long as it was under $1,000. "B" for Punctuality. They called the day they were to arrive to cancel, but they did show up at 8am on the later date. "C" for Responsiveness. They first told me they needed warmer weather (75 degrees) so they put off coming the first time for about a week). But on the rescheduled day, it was 8am and in the low to mid 60's at best. When I heard the day/time they wanted to come, I called and asked them about this and the story changed.....now it was OK to come out when it wasn't as warm. Changing their story sounded like just a way to prioritize who they wanted to service, when. The technician came out, said their was a very large leak in the roofline near where the roof and the outside wall meet. He said it was most likely a nail from the roofer and he sees this all the time. I talked to the tech over the phone 55 minutes after he arrived and completed his work. The Tech seemed very knowledgeable, so I gave them an "A"...though all they did was put nitrogen in, went into the attic, heard where the leak was coming from. I expected a bill for maybe $100 (service call and nitrogen), but the bill was $169. $75 was listed as a service call that included in the description for that charge, identifying the leak. They then had a separate line item for $70 for a repair. $15 for nitrogen. $9 for a fuel surcharge. I called about this, saying they did no repair and why are they charging a fuel surcharge when gasoline prices are half what they were and the lowest in a decade. They said $75 was to show up and $70 was for the diagnosis. This is not what their bill said and when I placed the call to have them come out, and told them they were looking for a leak, they did not say the $75 was just for showing up. They said everybody has a fuel surcharge (my previous AC guy didn't) and it didn't matter that gasoline prices are half what they were. They also said the tech was there for 1 hr 20 minutes.....so the extra 25 minutes must have been spent visiting with the tenants or something. "B" for professionalism. The Tech was professional. If the office people would have cut even half the $70 fee and removed the unreasonable fuel surcharge, they would have had a new customer (for both my homes). If they had cut all of the $70 fee and the fuel charge, they would have had a new customer and a glowing review. Maybe they have enough business they don't care, but they don't have mine any more. So in short, if you use Northwind they may be good (can't really tell for sure), expect junk fees, charges beyond what you may have expected, scheduling delays and rescheduling. The roofer paid for the repair in the end, so that part was great. I have the old R22 freon, which is very pricey. His guy did the repair / charging the system for $600....amazing price!! If I need anything done in the future, I'm using his guy!!

We were very pleased with their work. We interviewed several service providers. They are locally owned. They are very knowledgeable. The president came out to meet with us and he was always available on his cell to answer questions or troubleshoot anything. His workers were very fast and efficient. We were under a kind of tight timeline between getting the work done and moving and they were very accommodating to that. They provided different options. We asked another service provider for some information and he said that he was not going to give any information whereas here the president gave us his ideas and solutions. We would use them again in the future if necessary.

Excellant!!!!!
Description of Work: I sign a yearly maintenance contract with this company for $160.00. This contract allows them to come out twice a year once in spring to check the airconditioner and one in fall to check the furnace. I am so glad I do this as they check and clean everything during these visits. If there is anything they see needs maintenance they will let me know so that I avoid a break during peak seasons I have used their services for about 6 or 7 years and highly recommend them. If you have an emergency they come out any time of day or night and because we signed the maintenance agreement we are charged a lower rate versus the afterhour rate if applicable. Their technicians are always professional, courtious and on time. I can not say enough good things about the company.
