First they wanted $200 immediately to run a camera in the line to look for the clog. I paid it and after running the camera, they said they couldn't see anything because there was water in the line - of course there is, it's clogged, that's what they were supposed to fix! Then they paced around the yard, looking in the wrong places for the city main line. After I pointed it out, they gave me a quote of $2400 to dig a trench in my yard to the pipe. They never once snaked the line, they never looked at the city cleanout. I sent them packing and a handyman looked at the city cleanout and it was apparently the clog was on the city side of the pipes. I called 311, they came out the next day and cleared the clog. After I complained about this terrible service on Nextdoor, the owner of Nick's Plumbing called me and refunded my money for the $200, that was the right thing to do and I was glad he did it. But having since seen numerous similar stories from other neighbors, I have no faith in Nick's Plumbing and will not use their services again.

Had two companies come out. Liked the professionalism of Nick's. And they did the work some day. Other company came me an initially higher quote, then lower quote, but then they didn't put any of that on paper ... and I just didn't buy what they were saying.
Description of Work: Had main drain line break and, with that, clog and backups. Also needed ceased up kitchen faucet replacement, new valve under same sink, and new elbow joint where my AC condensate dripped into.

Ron and his assistant did a fantastic job. Ron is very knowledgeable about pipes and in repiping a house. I like the fact that he gave me the bid plus did the job Other companies send out sales reps. Ron kept me informed during the 1 and a half days the project took. He also had no problems answering my questions. He was professional He went beyond the call of duty when he arranged for me to meet up with a sheetrocker when I expressed concern with finding someone to come out to repair the access holes made during repipe. He didn't have to do this. He coordinated several days in advance for me to meet with the sheet rocker plus Ron also came and explained what needed to be done. This was exceptional service. I felt very confident in Ron's abilities in working with my pipes. He also resolved a problem that came up by finding another way so he would not have to cut into my kitchen cabinets. He took his time. He and his assistant worked great together. They had great teamwork. Repiping a house is a scary experience. He made me feel at ease. They also did a great job picking up and cleaning up when finished. They were punctual. I received exceptional service and woukd use Nicks Plumbing again. If you need repipe work done Ron is your man.

They arrived a little late, said it would cost $600.00 to replace the faucet and the hose that connected from the wall to the faucet. I ended up hiring a handyman who only charged me $40.00 to do complete the work.

We have had our second - and last - terrible experience with this company. We had a very leaky shower (more than a gallon an hour) and a slow flush toilet and arranged for them to come out on a Saturday night between 4 and 7 to fix both. The plumber got there close to 7 and was on the phone with his wife who wanted him to come home and get her a Subway sandwich. I showed him the shower and he said he wasn't sure he could fix it. I showed him the toilet and he suggested replacing the entire inner workings for $289 and clearing it out for $114. I asked him if that would fix it and he said he didn't know. He told me the toilet was not a good one and that I'd paid too much for it anyway and he Disnt like working on that brand, a Koehler. Then I informed him his company - Nick's - had sold it to me and had told me it was a good product. His attitude was flat-out rude so I asked him to leave. He slammed away and drove off. Leak was still leaking, and toilet was not flushing. I called a different plumber I found on Next Door and everything was fixed in 40 minutes for $168, which included a $20 tip. What was so outrageous is this is the second time they have been terrible.
Description of Work: Nothing except be rude, waste my time, and leave me as bad off as when he showed up.

Leonard came to my home and was warm and professional right away. I told him the kitchen drain (disposal) side started to drain slowly a couple months ago. He ran the water and it did start to come up, had me run the disposal which sucked it down, then inspected it with a flashlight and was able to pull out a sandwich ziplock bag that had lodged itself right under the lip of the rubber ring of the disposal. He said it may have been the bag which I found hard to believe. But he was right. He checked the draining of the other sink which drained perfectly and since they both empty into the same pipe, there couldn't be a problem. Indeed, we tried the disposal side again and it failed to back up!! Just the plastic bag! I had thought and Rescue Rooter had suggested I have the drain hydro-jetted which would have cost me $300-$500. Nick's Plumbing and Leonard saved me money and restored my faith there are good service providers out there. Also, since that took just 5 minutes, I asked him about my A/C drain which goes through a bedroom pipe but had backed up once and seeped down to the first floor. I had rescue rooter out and one plumber cleared the line costing me $175 then when it clogged again came back to do it again for the same price. A third rescue rooter plumber recommended I regularly pour bleach down the pipe which seemed to help but it took a third plumber from there and now Leonard to inform me how to prevent a costly problem. Leonard showed me where to pour the bleach in the A/C unit in the attic. That took 5 minutes. Leonard and Nick's plumbing are honest. I asked Leonard whether their plumbers are commissioned and he said they are only paid by the hour. I may have found a keeper. Thanks guys.. keep up the good work.
Description of Work: Checked kitchen sink for source of slow drainage, found a plastic ziplock that appeared to have been there a while.. hidden under just the rim of the disposal so that I didn't see it even after brushing it. Helped me also find the A/C pipe in attic where I can pour bleach to clear it of algae.

Two gentlemen were sent out to my house, Kevin and Nathan. Kevin indicated that it was a blocked sewer . He stated that his truck did not have a camera . Nathan proceeded to the back yard with some equipment in which he ran it in the ground and then five minutes later came back into the house and told Kevin "Roots man". Kevin began negotiating with me starting at 325.00. Then he continued to come down and stated" I came do this without contacting my boss". I then made a call to the office and the lady that answered the phone was most pleasant and I made her aware of what was happening at this point and felt someone in the office should be aware. I let her know that I was very uneasy at what Kevin was doing and asked for the owner's name and email address. I should have guessed that they were in this altogether. Having spent half the night without the services of the restroom and having four small grandchildren in the house I wind up paying 235.00 for about 10 minutes worth of work and 30 minutes worth of bullxxxx on Kevin's part. He later adds insults to this situation and states that :his boss cannot guarantee any type warranty on the work. I then went to all of the areas and tested and found that one of the chains had slipped on one of the commodes and nothing was happening, even though he stated everything was working fine. I tested the bathtub and it was draining slowly but draining. The washing machine was draining slowly as well as they kitchen sink. Kevin advised me to call the city and tell them to come and check their side of the line. He did an invoice on his tablet which I signed and he stated he sent to my email. Sitting their at my table with my smart phone in hand I had yet to receive the email and I asked him what email address was he sending to and he stated to my work email. the 30 minutes or so with Kevin in the house, Nathan had quickly packed his little equipment and jumped in the air conditioned truck with no tv camera and waited for Kevin to come out. Lesson learned: Nick's Plumbing should have one of the investigative television stations do a story on him, his personnel and company and the Attorney General should get involved with his employees tactics. I think I just might look into this. NEVER AGAIN MR. SAAD.....never AGAIN Nick's Plumbing! If I had to rate your service there is no alphabet under Z would I give you.Keep the money!!!!!!

I called the company and asked for a gas tankless water heater to be flushed and wanted a washer and dryer connected. I asked the scheduler what would be involved in the service of the water heater. She said I would have to talk with the plumber. So I scheduled not having any idea of cost. They came at the designated time but the tech argued with my husband on the phone and then with me when he came. He didn't want to do the water heater flush even though we were past the recommended service. He informed me he would hook up the washer but NOT the dryer as he didn't do that service. After I explained my despair -that I was not informed when I made the appointment- that he could not hook it up, he finally he agreed to look at the dryer, The dryer hose had been crushed, so he didn't have to hook it up. He was very relieved! I called the office to discuss the problems but they never called me back.

He's started at the least invasive and the least expensive thing and walked all the way thorough, they finally ran a line down, they ran 60 ft of camera down there and found out that it had collapsed. The fact that they walked you through every stuff, they started with the least expensive and worked they way up showing you what was going on. The guys who came out and did the actual printing were extremely conscientous and they were very careful to dig around the tree roots that they had to go by. So they took their time going through it and digging around the tree root, they didn't cut any roots for the trees. They were fast, real quick, they were responsive within a couple of days they came out. They were able to put everything up together within this couple of hours and they were in and out of here, it was great.

What happened was he came out and he looked at stuff and he told me all this work I would need and what it would cost. It was expensive and I didn't feel it was warranted. So, I talked to a neighbor next door who turned me on to her handyman plumbing guy and he came out and took care of the immediate problem right away and checked everything and told me he didn't think I needed anywhere near the work that the plumber that came out had told me I did. So, in general I did not have a good experience with them and I never used them for anything else. I would not recommend them. I did not think they were professional at all. Mind you, this is just one individual in the company but it's one individual that I dealt with. I did not feel like was honest. Everything that they quoted me was over priced.

The toilet in my guest bath would not stop running. We couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong and eventually turned off the water to the toilet and called Nick's. They came out within a few hours, diagnosed the problem in about five minutes, gave me a quote, and made the repairs. They had replacement parts on the truck. If I had known what needed to be replaced, I could probably have done it myself at a fraction of the cost, but I didn't know what needed to be replaced. And frankly, there are two things I won't mess around with: electricity and plumbing. So although the price was pretty steep for 30 minutes of work and a couple of parts, I am happy with the outcome. I would definitely use Nick's Plumbing again.

We came home one evening and had sewage backing up into the bathtub drains. I tried to clear the lines myself with a garden hose but did not have any success. Based on the reviews online and a neighbors recommendation I decided to give Nick's a try. First, I did not take the time to get quotes. When none of your toilets will flush and sewage is backing up into the house price shopping takes a bit of a back seat. I called a couple of different companies but Nick's was the first to respond. The service technician came out the next day and brought a 150 foot mechanical cleaner. We were both shocked when he used all 150 foot and this did not clear the line. He left and went back to the office for a 200 foot high pressure cleaner. He did not charge me additional for this. While he attempted to clean the line he spent time with me and gave some good advice including recommended monthly flushing maintenance, cleaning products and general best practices. We were throwing eggshells down the drain and he advised that this is one of the worst things to put down drain followed by grease and oil. We've changed our habits quite a bit after this lesson. The 200 foot cleaner was successful in clearing the plug but due to the long run required I decided to also schedule a scope (video) and trace of the line. Note the line cleaning was around $200-$300 and the scope and video $225. I could not find my receipt for the cleaning. The scope allowed me to see that the line was unexpectedly running back under the house and then to the street. It also found a low spot where it appears water is collecting and could be contributing to the plugging. He provided me with rough estimate of what it would cost to dig the line up and check it if we run into problems again. I was very pleased with the service, promptness and professionalism of the service technician. I think I have found my new plumbers.

I had a toilet that overflowed when my washing machine was on. I called Nick's Plumbing and set an appointment and waited through my three hour window and they were a no show. I called and their consistently messed up phone machine left me no options of speaking to a real person. I did leave a message and a rather annoyed woman named Karen calls me. Throughout I told her that no one had come and she (with the sound in her voice like she's talking and rolling her eyes) said she needed to look at the schedule. She called me back and they were on "an emergency" and needed to reschedule. I have been a long time client of Nick's so I gave grace and scheduled for January 3, 2015 10-1. Again a "no show" I called (the phone machine system still flaky) and finally got thru to leave a message, 45 minutes later a still annoyed Karen calls me says she needs to look at the schedule find out what happened and will call me back. She has a way of making you feel as though you are putting them out. She called back and said they had "an emergency" (where have I heard that before?) and he could be there when they finished. I told her I had sat something up with someone else because I haven't had the most reliable experience with Nick's. She offered no apology, nothing. She hung up on me because I am assuming I was bothering her with my business. I went with Benjamin Franklin Plumbers (they pay you $5.00 a minute they are late) I am disappointed Nick's Plumbing has become what it has.

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the inconvenience that occurred. An apology was offered, a phone call was made shortly after the first call was made back to the customer to let him know that the technician was available, and also that he could be on the way and there with in 10 minutes. In the middle of speaking we were disconnected, not because we hung up on the customer. We do our best to be sure that we are on time and efficient. We apologize for the experience that you have had.

Thank you for the review. I would like to take the time to respond to the information that was left. We did schedule you from 11-2 On November 26th. We make every attempt to keep the time window that we give the customer, however on this particular day, we were inundated with stoppages and water lines that were broken. When each call is scheduled we advise the customer that we will call "At least 30 Minutes before the technician arrives", so that there is no missed work, and so that the customer is aware of when the technician will be arriving along with the name of the technician that will be servicing their home on that given day. We sincerely apologize for missing our window, and inconveniencing you.

There was never a 7:30 call made to my cellphone and I certainly never spoke with their scheduler. I understand that emergencies happen but when customers take off work for your services and expect a "First Call"... it is BAD BUSINESS to keep them in limbo. The only correct statement in your response is that when you called at 12:17p and said that there would be a tech available in 30-4min. Do you only have 1 technician?

Response from Nick's Plumbing & Sewer Service
The information listed is quite inaccurate. We phoned the customer before 7:30 making him aware that the technician had been on an Emergency and we would need to move the appointment to the next later window which is 9-12. The customer did call back in to check on his appointment and we advised the customer that the technician that would be covering that call would be ready in about 30-45 minutes. Another phone call was made when the technician was on the way and at that time, this customer declined to continue with a service appointment. It is unfortunate that emergencies come up but when they do, such as raw sewage spewing out into a home, those calls take precedence and we must attend to them in a timely manner. We keep the lines of communication open and make sure the customer is aware as to what is going on. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay caused you.
