The service person was extremely nice, able to clearly define the possible problem(s), and worked with us to decide how to approach the issue. The leak ended up being very simple to fix but I also feel confident that had it been more complicated, we would still be very satisfied. It was also nice that the service person was very honest about how simple the fix was and did not try to talk us into extra work or parts. The $189 service fee is a bit steep but Nick's professionalism, responsiveness, and expertise made it worth it.
Description of Work: My husband and I installed a new kitchen faucet and discovered a leak in the process. Nick's came out on short notice on a holiday. In the end, the supply line to our sink was only missing a gasket that the technician was able to easily fix.

He was very professional and very quick. We really appreciated the way he handled it. Overall, I think we are very luck to have joined Angie's List and found Hector at Nick's Plumbing. We wouldn't use anyone but Nick's from now on. Thank you Angie's List.
Description of Work: Hector Romero called me back promptly and said he was on the way. He arrived shortly, checked the drain line, gave us a price. He then snaked the drain at the bath sink and Roman tub drain line. He was very professional. It cost us $225.00. We asked him then for another quote to fix our gas line outside leading to our fireplace. He said he would be back the next morning. He called and was promptly here with his men and he had also contacted the gas company to inspect it. We haven't been able to use the fireplace for a few years. The men spent the day digging and runing 30 feet of gas line for fireplace at back of family and replaced 1/2 line with 3/4 inch pipe. They also installed 2 cut off valves to isolate any problems in the line, break l/3, re-path 10 feet off concrete to run, then laid concrete and replaced the dirt in th hole that was dug. It was an excellent job and all three men did a wonderful job under the direcction of Hector. We had already gotten another quote from another plumber which was $5,000. And he was going to tear our fireplace up to get into the room. Hector and his men did it in a very professional way and nothing was tore up except part of the sidewalk, and the hole they dug to get to the pipe, which they replaced and it looks even better now. I recommend Nicks Plumbing very highly.

Nick himself was not in the area but one of his workers was. The young man arrived within the hour and was very couteous and professional. We hit a number of complications in fixing the two bits of work that I wanted performed, so he was there about two hours. I was a little disappointed that the cost was so high, but I know that plumbing services are ALWAYS expensive, so I guess this goes with the territory
Description of Work: I initially called to have them come fix a leaking water line that suplied water to my water heater. But while I had him out, I also had him fix an upstairs toilet that was leaking from the tank.

The encounter with Nick's plumbing went perfectly. I was immediately put at ease by the knowledge of the gentlemen from Nick's
Description of Work: I discovered a water leak in an upstairs bathroom on a Friday evening. I called Nick's and someone came out immediately and after a great deal of effort discovered the leak in the attic. They stayed until the leak was repaired. I also had a water heater replaced by them and a faulty installation of a water filter done by Chavez plumbing repaired by them. I heartily endorse Nick's Plumbing!

It went very well. He was punctual and prepared to do the work right away. I thought the pricing was reasonable. He offered advise for dealing with water company since I expect a larger than normal bill. He also fixed a minor problem with the water hook up on my washing machine as well as advise on how to repair a leaking toilet. I was impressed with and appreciate the quality service I received from Nick's. Submitting review to Angie's is a bit problematic. Had word done at different property than home addressed used when registering. Selected "Other" button and filled out address info, but system would not let me proceed advising "Address is a required field".

I called several providers to get estimates. Nick's plumber was courteous, prompt and efficient in obtaining an estimate. The prices were reasonable, but I wanted a particular water heater, a Rheem, and not the one they would have provided, so I went with another contractor. One job I have not had anyone perform yet was to install new faucets and showers in the guest bathroom; the amount of time and labor for that is difficult to estimate, and their plumber was quite candid and open about the issue, insofar as how much the final cost might vary. Having done a lot of my own work in the past, I am fully aware of the "can of worms" possibilities, and I appreciate their honesty in assessing the possibilities.

While out pulling weeds in the flower bed, I discovered a lot of mud, which led to the discovery that there was a leak in the outside piping. It had apparently been going on for some time. I called Nick's Plumbing and made an appointment for them to come out the next day (since it wasn't urgent), which they did. In order to fix the leak, the plumber had to replace part of the pipe (tricky because it's old galvanized pipe) and replace the faucet head. The guy arrived on time and explained in detail what needed to be done.

Please see detailed description above.
Description of Work: Our water heater went out on Tuesday and Wednesday morning after searching through Angie's list and calling a few plumbers to see if they were available, Nick's Plumbing confirmed that they could come out that day and install a new water heater. We decided to go with a Navian NPE tankless water heater to replace our two 40 gallon ones in the attic. With electricity setup, an additional alarm system to shut off the water automatically if a leak is detected (future insurance of $400) and old tanks removed and new tank installed all was completed in less than 6 hrs. He did have to subcontract the electricity which was not an issue and the roofing was done directly. All existing lines /holes/etc were able to be reused and the area is very nice and neat with most importantly running hot water before Thanksgiving. I probably paid a few $100 more than if I waited till Friday but time was of the essence and with the 25+ years experience plus Angie's members recommendations, the goal was for a clean and efficient install right before the holidays.

They were very professional. They removed the two existing toilets and took them outside to the front lawn without dripping any water on the carpet as they went through. They then put together and installed two brand new toilets. They brought everything, including the toilets and all necessary parts. Josh then took apart the shower control and replaced the control module to the control. He then tested both the shower connections (hot and cold) as well as both toilets. They cleaned all of the floor beneath the existing toilets so that the new ones looked like they had been put into a brand new house instead of a 43 year old house. Everything completed in 1-1/2 hours and they left my house looking like they had never been there. They cleaned up everything and took all of the old toilets and parts back with them. The price was a little high; but they put in a better grade of toilet...so you get what you pay for. Great Job!
Description of Work: Josh and his helper completely replaced two toilets including all parts. He also replaced the control cartridge in the shower in the master bathroom.

I had a clog in my drain and my kitchen sink and dishwasher and washing machine wouldn't drain. I tried snaking it and using draino but couldn't get it to unclog. They were able to do it in 15 minutes.
Description of Work: They came on time, knew what to do, and did it quickly. Very professional. The only reason I gave them an "NA" on price is because I've never hired a plumber in Texas before and don't know what the going rates are here.

Nick's plumbers came and snaked the commode in an attempt to unclog the commode. When that failed, they went outside to the clean out to run their camera to the bathroom commode. They determined that the clog was somewhere near the commode drain and the fitting to the main drain pipe. With that information they told me they would have to work under the house and remove the pipes to unclog the system. They gave me a bid for $2000. I called a different plumber who came over and unclogged the commode for $365; he removed the commode and cleaned out the drain pipe to fix the problem. I still don't understand why Nick's plumbers couldn't figure this out since the problem wasn't complicated and only required removing the commode to clean out the drain pipe. Most of this was just common sense.
Description of Work: We had a clogged commode that needed to be fixed. Nick's plumbers came and diagnosed the problem. They used a sewer camera to determine where the system was clogged.

The rep was punctual and friendly. He did ask me if I had any plumbing problems and did listen/look at a few issues that I had. He strongly advised against doing a Water Heater Flush (which was the whole point of the big deal?) and did not provide any useful information on how to fix the problems. He did not even provide me with any estimates. I essentially paid $67 for a free inspection. I feel this was a complete waste of money and turned me off to "big deals" for quite some time.
Description of Work: Got a big deal for "Whole House Plumbing Inspection and Water Heater Flush". Got no water heater flush and some generic advice on fixing a shaky toilet. The rep told me that he did not recommend touching the water heaters as this may cause them to leak.

We had a supply line bust in the master bath on the 3rd floor of our home, we were not at home and had major flooding because of the bust. We read great reviews about Nick's Plumbing and decided to call them since this was an emergency and we needed to get this small (PVC) supply line fixed to have our water turned back on. However the "salesman" gave me a quote of $697.22 and said it would be a difficult fix to repair. Since my wife and I had no choice and were desperate we decided to allow him to do the work, and the difficult repair turned out to take only 10 minutes. I will never use this company again because I feel they completely took advantage of our desperate situation. I don't mind paying an emergency fee however when they charge you $337.74 for two parts, and $169.74 to apparently cut a small drywall hole, it is absolutely ridiculous. If you are in emergency situation look elsewhere, these guys are complete crooks in my opinion!!!

I called Nick's Plumbing based on reviews on Angie's List and neighbors' referrals. I spoke with a manager who also let me speak with Albert, a plumber, who was in the office. I explained the issue and within an hour, Albert came over to my house to perform an inspection. He used a moisture detecting tool and determined that the issue I was trying to fix was NOT related to plumbing. He advised that I not pursue any plumbing fixes that had been recommended to me over the phone by another plumber. I really appreciated his thoroughness and of course the fact that I wasn't charged for the consultation! I'll be keeping Nick's Plumbing in mind for future plumbing needs for sure!

After issues getting another plumber out, Nicks showed up very quickly (good). The plumber gave the quote was 49.99 for coming out and 117 to use the snake. After ONE failed attempt to use the snake the plumber said he had to pull the toilet. What he failed to mention was that to pull the toilet it was 220 dollars. This is a huge issue with plumbers. Any work has to be approved by the home owner after a bid is given. My tenant called and said that he had to pay on the spot and it was 370 dollars. He had no idea what this job should cost and I don't blame him. I have owned a number of homes and I am a DIYer usually, but I know what things should cost. Most people don't know and Nicks took advantage of this fact. They broke two rules that honest craftsman shouldn't do:1. They didnt quote the work in advanced2. Took advantage of someone who doesnt know any better on the final bill My advice is to use any one of the other highly recommended plumbers on Angies list. Their customer service after the fact has been very telling that they are used to dealing with complaints like this and are not willing to resolve any complaints even after they failed to follow their own procedures. Martin
Description of Work: I had a toilet that was backing up. Since this is a second floor apartment with very old plumbing there were small drips from the plumbing into the garage below about 1 foot below the toilet and then no drips past that. So it was clear that the blockage was very close to the toilet. I would have fixed it myself but I went on vacation the next day and left it up to my tenant to handle. I left instructions to get the toilet snaked... no big deal. This has happened before, in another house, and was pretty inexpensive.

Response from Nick's Plumbing & Sewer Service
The member was given a fair price upfront and agreed for our tech to do the work. After the work was completed; he called his landlord and at that time was told (by his landlord) he paid too much for the service. Our techs will not do any work without the customer’s approval. He informed the front office that our tech told him the price would be $117 if he didn’t have to pull the toilet; and the price would increase if he needed to pull the toilet and the price would be $252.00. At this time he agreed to the price and watched him perform the job. He was reminded of these events during a 30 minute phone call with us. Thereafter, saying he could have done this job himself; but didn’t have the time to do the repair. The bottom line is we were requested by the customer to do a repair, a price was given up front, and the customer gave his approval to perform the job. He was happy with the service and willingly signed the invoice that states: “I hereby acknowledge the satisfactory completion of the above described work” at that time he gave his payment and the tech left the home. After the completion of a satisfactory job, the member voiced his complaint regarding the price. Nick’s Plumbing manager (Gerald) called to apologize for the member's unhappiness. All the same, there wasn’t any deception in this business transaction. There was an honest day’s work for an agreed upon wage. For those reasons, there were no grounds for a refund.

Our garbage disposal became clogged up. Although we tried to take it apart ourselves, it was still leaking and clogged, so we decided to call Nick's plumbing based upon the Angie's list reviews. Nick's Plumbing was able to schedule an appointment for the same day that we called. The technician arrived on time and was professional. After examining the situation, he determined that the garbage disposal needed to be replaced. He had a replacement unit with him in his van, which was convenient, so that I did not have to wait for him to pick up a part or schedule another appointment for him to come back. Once I approved the estimate, he promptly replaced the unit in under an hour for the quoted amount. I would definitely use them again in the future.

Wow! I cannot praise this company enough for their professionalism and responsiveness. I had an urgent situation with a broken water pipe spewing water inside and outside of my home. The dispatcher said all her techs were busy...but somehow managed to get a tech to my residence within an hour. The tech's name was "Nick" (not the owner). He was courteous, extremely professional and thorough. He worked quickly and was candid with me about the problem and the needed solution. He wore booties into my house, he laid a blanket down to set his tools on, and he even brought in a shop vac from his truck after the job was done and cleaned up. I am a developer who owns many properties around Houston....Nick's Plumbing and Sewer Service is my new plumber!

The company did not provide an estimate over the phone, but was responsive, prompt and despite the $49 estimate charge, we made an appointment for only a few days after the call. The technician was perfectly on time and courteous, however the estimate was absurd... over $600 to flush a hot water heater ($259.47 for the flush and a $359.47 "attic access fee")! We live in a new home and do not have difficult access to our attic. Unfortunately we had to pay the $49 estimation fee. I do not expect to do business with this company again, and will do my best not to use companies that charge estimation fees in the future.

Poor communication with customer from the office to the plumber.Still appear to have some drainage problems, but we are cautious and run the washing cycle only when we are around to monitor it. If we do opt to have more work on our drain, we will not call on Nick's Plumbing.
Description of Work: Because I used Angie's List, the $179 price is after they applied the $10 coupon. Our old, reliable washing machine overflowed and when it went into the rinse/spin cycle, water overflowed the drain pipe and we ended up with water on the utility room floor. Called Nick's Plumbing because of the ratings on Angie's List. Very busy time of year so we were scheduled for 3 pm a couple of days after I called. Not an emergency since we were not going to use the washing machine until the problem was repaired. On the day of the scheduled appointment (3 pm), no one showed up. So, after 15 minutes and no call from anyone, I called the company. Apologized that no one called us and promised to send someone. Within 30 minutes after my call, Nick (not the owner) arrived. He apprised the situation and gave us 2 choices: roto-rooter the line through the roof and try to remove/disengage whatever was causing the blockage or cut through the sheetrock and remove the blockage that way. Of course, the second option was costlier, more time consuming, and would entail someone else coming out to repair the sheetrock since Nick would address only the plumbing issues. We chose the first option. My husband climbed on the roof with Nick as he used his roto-rooter. Nick was in and out within 30 minutes and gave us a bill for $189.00 (with coupon -$10) for a final bill of $179.00.

I called to make an appointment before noon and had to leave a message. I got a call back the next morning and I booked my appointment for 2 days later. I asked that they call when they get to my house (they usually don't with the first appointment of the day) because I have a gate outside of my community. He got there on time, was very courteous, introduced himself and put covers on his shoes so that he wouldn't track anything in the house. I showed him what needed to be done and he explained my options. He was good with my dogs and closed the door and the gate behind him each time he had to walk in and out of the house (this is a must for me as one of my dogs recently got hit by a car). He was quick, but thorough and when finished asked if I'd like to see what he did. I said yes and he explained everything and what I need to do to maintain it. I was able to pay with credit card which is very convenient. I would use them again and recommend them as well.
