The staff at the office was quick to respond to my request for service and gave me a time window when they could have a service man to my location. They called about half an hour before to let me know that they were on the way to my location. Albert was the professional that arrived to assess my situation and quickly identified the problems. He was very informative and gave me all of the options and let me know exactly what they could and could not do. He alerted me to potential issues that could come up during their investigation that could be an additional expense. I have a house built in the late 50s and he was experienced in those systems. After the inital inspection he needed to pick up the material to complete the job and he gave me a time when they would return. They arrived back when they promised and started right in on the job. The job required digging down to the sewer line that exited the house and putting in a clean out. They were careful with the landscape and kept their dig neat. Albert was good at keeping me informed during the process when I asked. They restored the area as close to the orginal condition as possible. I am happy with the work and their knowledge of old house plumbing issues. I will use them again.

Dispatch center was very curteous and professional. Technician arrived promptly, assessed situation, determined course of action and kept me informed at each step in the process. The technician was very knowledgeable and walked through the "what and why" for each step and then provided the possible solutions. The work was done within the same day.

Will did great. He was professional, courteous, and respectful. I felt comfortable enough to have him come while I was at work. My wife felt comfortable with him around. Being a structural engineer, Will has a very unique perspective on sewer line work. Not only was he concerned with the functionality of the sewer line, but also with the integrity of the foundation. In addition, Nick's Plumbing was the only company I found that offered a 10 year warranty of their work. Others offered a one year warranty. I highly recommend him.

We had them come out on short notice and they were very response to fitting us into their schedule on a Saturday. that part was great. However, their initial bid for the project was $1800, which seemed really high to us. they wanted to charge $400 for an assistant (novice plumber) to "help out". Then when it turned out they would have to shut off the water to our community, they increased the price up to $3000. This was crazy. The plumber that did eventually repair it for us (Best Plumbing) only took 1 guy 3 hours in the dark to fix it.
Description of Work: We got a quote from them to fix a leaking pipe in the front of our house (before it came into our irrigation system) and a valve that controlled water coming into our house.

Punctuality: They were scheduled between 2:00 and 4:00pm on Friday, Dec. 20. I had removed the the old stove top, an electric one, and installed the the new gas stove top myself and had it all ready to go, just needed hook-up. When they didn't arrive by 4:00pm I became concerned and called to confirm they were coming. They said they were running late but would be there shortly. This was important to me since we had disconnected the electric cooktop and were without a cooktop to prepare the evening meal. By 8:00pm they had never showed up. I called and they said they had forgotten us and would be able to come only the following day. They did come the next day and did the job in a satisfactory matter. It took them about 10 minutes to connect the stove top. Cost: When I called several companies to ask the price to connect the gas line to the cooktop I was told by Nick's over the phone that it would run between $175 and $225. When they arrived they did an estimate and it was actually over $400. This was a very straight forward hook-up only. The gas nipple was immediately below the cooktop and the cooktop was installed and access was easy as I had pre-removed the cabinet doors and shelves. All that was required was to install a flex line and a shutoff valve. It took them all of 10 minutes. When they quoted over $400 I was surprised after having given a pretty good explanation of what was required over the phone and being given a verbal estimate of about half that. When they finally did arrive I felt I had no choice but to accept the bid as I had been without a cook top and waiting for them for a day and a half in the few days before Christmas. Summary: If you need a competent plumber to do a routine simple operation and and arrive a day late and charge double the original verbal estimate Nick's will work out for you.
Description of Work: They connected a gas stove top to the supply line nipple and installed a red top shutoff valve.

Nicks Plumbing responded to my service request right away and they were curteous and professional. However, the technician tried to push additional uneccessary work and priced the completed work more than double of the actual cost. If you don't care about the cost, fine, but they are too expensive for me.

When the original work was performed on 7-1-11, the plumber showed up within the scheduled time, removed the inoperative waste disposer and installed the new waste disposer within only about 45 minutes. The plumber operated in a courteous and professional manner the whole time he was in the house. After the work was completed and before the plumber left I checked the function of the new waste disposer and also checked for leaks, but did not make any effort to examine the details of the plumbing work that was performed. At this point I was satisfied with the work that was performed. I was, however, somewhat surprised by the $650 charge for the work, since I could have purchased the new disposer at Lowe's for only a bit over $200. Since I was quite busy at the time, even though I had replaced disposers before myself I was willing to pay the $650 so that I would not have to take the time to do it myself, and I assumed that having a professional do the job would ensure that it was done well ... I was later proven wrong on this last point. Since the installation on 7-1-11, until Thanksgiving day 11-28-13, the disposer had always worked fine, and we had never noticed any significant leaks, but on 11-28-13 when preliminary cleanup after the Thanksgiving meal began, with both sinks and the dishwasher draining all at the same time, a significant leak drenched the cabinet under the sink and spilled out onto the floor. Since I had to abandon my guests to stop the leak and diagnose the problem, the party broke up early. After checking out the plumbing I discovered that even though the nut and washer were in place and intact, the drain pipe from the small sink was about 1/2" to 1" too short to allow a good connection to the junction with the drain pipe from the disposer. I initially wondered how this could have gone this long without leaking, but I then realized that we never actually filled up the small sink with water. We only used it for rinsing dishes, and since this involved straight gravity flow and a low volume of water we never noticed any significant leaks. Unfortunately, on Thanksgiving we had filled up both sinks with water and were also running the automatic dishwasher, and when all sources began to drain at the same time, the open connection became quite obvious. I called Nick's Plumbing on 12-4-13 and explained the situation to the scheduler, and at first she told me that it had been too long since the work had been performed to be covered under warranty. When I explained that no plumbing work had been performed on this sink since their work on 7-1-11, and that this was clearly a case where the faulty connection had been overlooked, she said she would send someone out to assess the situation, but that if the leak was not clearly related to the work they had done I would have to pay for any repairs. Since to me the problem was clearly the result of an oversight during the original disposer installation, I agreed to those terms. The plumber who performed the original work arrived promptly the same day I called, and first tried to blame the leak on a broken washer, which he showed me, however, when I had inspected the washer after the leak, it was in perfectly good working order. The only reason that it failed to seal was that the drain pipe was clearly too short for the washer and the nut to actually fasten down on the pipe. After trying to blame the leak on a couple of other factors, the plumber finally agreed that the pipe was too short and he agreed to repair it for only a service charge. After I told him that I would find another plumber who would stand behind their work to do the repair, he reluctantly agreed to make the repairs as a valid call-back at no charge. I agreed to that, and it took him only about 20 minutes to add an extension to the drain pipe so that it would seal properly. Currently the drain appears to be working properly. Though Nick's could have been insistent that the work was technically out of warranty, in the end they did fix the drain at no charge (as they should have), but it took some convincing on my part. I have used Nick's for other work, and have generally been satisfied with their work, but while this waste disposer work was finally made right at no charge, the effort I had to go to get this to happen did not leave the impression that the Nick's plumber had a great deal of pride in his workmanship. In the end I will probably search Angie's list for another plumber the next time I have plumbing work to be done.
Description of Work: Replaced a waste disposer under a kitchen sink on 7-1-11. I called them out again on 12-4-13 to fix the drain pipe that had been improperly connected on 7-1-11, resulting in a significant leak on Thanksgiving day 11-28-13.

He came without a shovel so I had to lend him my needle nose shovel. The price for just digging a whole to get to the leak, about 1 ft. by 2 ft., cost me $100.00. It took about 2 hrs to complete. I checked the next day and the leak was still there so they returned the next day. I found out the leak was on the city side and I had to insist Nicks Plumbing remain until the city showed up so I could I could be certain it was fixed. I am still waiting for Nicks to callback to set up my next appointment, as I purchased a club ratw warranty package and they are to come out to clean and drain my water heater. I have yet to hear from them. I would not recommend them again to anyone.

Found the water leak outside on Thursday night and called Nick's the next day just because their ad was the biggest one on Angie's List Magazine. I was told that they will be coming in the afternoon within a 3 hour window. About 2 hours before they come to the house received a courtesy call. Leonard came by at about 3 PM and I showed him the area where water was coming out. I had shut down the main water line from the street however the wet area was visible. He opened the main line so that he could see where the water was coming out. The area was just below the shutoff valve coming to the house. He said that it costs $499 just to dig up the ground and then whatever it costs in parts and labor to fix the problem. Initially I said OK and came inside and he went to bring me something to sign. I came in and told my wife and she jumped at the cost, and told me to get a second opinion (thank you my dear) . I went out and told him that $499 was too much and asked for a discount. Of course he said that digging is very difficult but I insisted on an estimate for the whole job. He came back with $499 for digging and $700 for fixing the PVC pipe for a total of $1200 with a 10% discount. I said that I want to think about it and get a second estimate, he mentioned that his prices are lower than xxx and yyy. He was courteous and left. Went down to the local ACE hardware store, asked for their plumbing expert explained the situation and he said that even if all the store employees came out on over time to fix the problem it would not cost me the $1200 that Nick's had quoted. Got the number of a plumber that gets supplies from their store. Meanwhile he showed me a way to connect my garden house to our neighbors using a small connector ($4.99) so that at least we have water overnight (Thank you ACE). The next before the new plumber shows up I dug around where the water was coming out and found the 1.5" line 1 ft below the ground surface. It took me 15 minutes to dig an area around and below the line so the plumber could work (compare this to the $499 Nick's was going to charge me). The plumber showed up at 10 am and by 11 am all was done, he left and came back 3 hours later to open the main valve and check his repair. Final cost Labor $120, pipe, cement and fitting $35 for a total of $155 and I gladly gave him a good tip. Compare the former to the $1200 estimate by Nick's which he wanted me to sign. I guess some vendors even though they are listed on Angies List, nevertheless try to take advantage of you when your are down and at their mercy.
Description of Work: The water line coming into my house sprung a small leak and water was accumulating on the grass outside, called Nick's to come and give me an estimate as they had a full page ad in the Angies List Magazine. Gave me an estimate which was exceptionally High.

My wife and I just moved into our new home and we are in the process of remodeling the townhome that we just moved out of . I thought that we had a serious (expensive-to-fix) underlying problem with a slow drip-drip of a leak that I noticed. Over a period of time, I would hear a small drip from the bathroom area over the kitchen after a shower or bath was taken. The stain could be seen in the kitchen ceiling. I thought that I we would have to go through the sheetrock to repair/replace a pipe. The Plumber, HECTOR RMERO arrived and was found to be EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL and Very INFORMATIVE. He started out asking questions regarding the problem. He then drew out an illustration of the mechanics beneath the walls and how the plumbing and drainage are expected to work. He would take the time to make sure that I fully understood before he moved on. To make a long story short, Hector showed how the need for replacement caulk, the small, thin, crack in the top of the tub drain played a roll in the drip. He also pulled up a small piece of carpet near the tub and showed how water, due to the bad caulking, allowed water to run down the side of the tub and caused the wood underneath the carpet to be soggy and soft. When I replace the tub (which I planned to do anyway) the problem will be resolved. All in all, Hector truly came across as if he was not just trying to get money from me.....Hector was trying to get BUSINESS from me. Well, he earned it. I will refer Nick's Plumbing to anyone who mentions that they have a plumbing problem and suggest that they ask for Hector Romero. I have to say, that, I was initially ticked off that Nick was a few minutes late, but, with all things considered, I thought that if he gave the previous customer the same service that he gave me, then, I understand and would be truly happy for the previous customer. In this day and age, you just don't experience that type of service.
