The owner cares more about her flower shop than your flooring. She doesn't know the difference between hardwood and engineered flooring. We were completely bamboozled. She had her crew redo our 23 year old solid red oak flooring as if it was engineered flooring. She caused $1,000 worth of damage to our walls and cabinets. She will now cost us thousands to redo the flooring properly. It looks like a child did a DIY project that went wrong. They even managed to glue nails and a penny to the flooring. The quarter round looks like someone closed their eyes while they mitered. The new flooring they installed in the bedroom is off level by an inch. Her solution is to spot fix our oil finished flooring while a 5 year old is in the house. Let alone us! She even admitted herself how disgraceful the job was. 2 reputable flooring companies looked at our flooring and said we were taken advantage of and they would have to be completely redone. Buyer Beware!!!!

The crew of 2 men arrived at my home, and got to work, using a commercial sized orbital buffing machine with a sand screen attached, they started dry sanding the floor. 25-30 minutes into the job I am told the wood stain finish in areas was being removed. A wood stain was tried, as to remedy the problem, but the stain did not work. The crew said the the floors were old, and this sometime happens, and the only solution now was to strip the floors and refinish 1347sq.ft of them for $3.00 sq.ft. James the owner has seen the floors and was aware of the age and condition and not a word was mentioned as to what could happen. I thanked them sent them on their way. I am left with half sanded floors, the finish ruined, and at my expense now have to have 1347sq.ft. completely sanded, and refinished. not to mention the time and inconvenience. There has been no apology, no offer to fix them. As a consumer you decide, but be warned. I'll be interested in any rebuttal's to try and refute of discredit my claims. Since my original posting on October 8th, we had a floor inspector licensed and certified by the National Wood Flooring Association of America http://www.nwfa.org, give us an independent unbiased opinion of my situation. His final analysis was that the floors are ruined and will have to be pulled up and replaced. Refinishing is not an option as the wood veneer is not thick enough to withstand sanding.
Description of Work: James Delony the owner came to my house so he could evaluate the cost of the job. James after looking at the floors, suggested we resurface the engineered oak wood floors to include wet/dry screening (buffing) top polyurethane coat to remove topical finish scratches, and blemishes throughout floor. Commercial clean floor with intensive ether/alcohol wood floor cleaner to rid floor of dirt, and debris on the floor Apply permanent Water base Finish with a catalyst hardener for max protection with a Semi-gloss shine

I have mixed feelings about my experience with this company. I hate writing bad reviews, and I usually don't have trouble with the companies I hire. The owner of the company was a very nice guy in person, but I still had a bad experience. Initially, someone other than the owner came out to my home, explained the hardwood floor resurfacing process, and told me he could move my furniture and replace it again for a reduced price of 100.00 (vs 150.00) IF I would remove all the breakables from my china cabinet. I waited a few weeks before contracting with them, then I asked for an additional quote to install some new floor boards, resulting in the owner coming out to assess the job. He also saw the furniture to be moved, which consisted of 10 furniture pieces and a dining room table set. Nothing was said about the china cabinet being a problem to move. He recommended refinishing with a less shiny finish than the floor's original finish. They arrived right on time on the day of the appointment. All was well until the original guy that came out to the house told me that he didn't want to try to move my china cabinet. (It is of average weight for a traditional china cabinet.) He said he didn't notice it before, which was interesting because he had asked me to empty it. There are only two pieces of furniture in the dining room, so I'm assuming he forgot about the china cabinet. He wanted to leave the cabinet in place without refinishing under it. I expressed concern about the floor looking different where it wasn't refinished. Then he said the floor might get scratched if he moved it and asked me if I would be OK with that. I said "no" to that. He asked if I was ever going to move it, and pointed out that the floor couldn't be seen under the cabinet. I explained that the furniture might be moved, and that the contract indicated the entire entire floor was to be refinished. He left, explaining that the rest of the floor needed to cure before moving the cabinet, but promised that he would come back out to refinish under the cabinet "for free", but didn't seem to want to schedule a time to come back. I was supposed to call him later to ask for this last bit of the job to be done. Before he left, I suggested that the lambswool sliders that he had borrowed from me to slide my heavy couch across the floor could also be used to move the cabinet. Later that day, I noticed thin shiny streaks throughout the entire floor. The floor looked like it had scratches. The owner came back out to see it himself, was very nice, and sent the same two workers back out to do a second coat. The floor looked nice when they left, BUT THEY LEFT AGAIN WITHOUT REFINISHING UNDER THE CABINET, saying they would have to come back because they didn't have something they needed to do the job. IDK Not understanding when they were going to finish the job or why they didn't finish the job on the second visit, I decided to ask the owner directly. I texted the owner's phone and asked when they could come back out to finish the job. 9 days later, there was still no response. I texted again and asked for a reply. This is the response I received from the owner's phone. It is an exact quote with no missing words: "My guys are coming out next Wednesday. I cannot just spend gas time, and labor making multiple trips out, so this will be the last time. Please understand if my guys cannot move the cabinet safely, then you will have to hire professional movers." I texted back and asked if the owner really typed that response. I haven't gotten a reply as of today and it has been almost 3 weeks, so that is why I am writing this review. By the way, I moved the china cabinet myself using the sliders I had suggested they try. It took me about 5 minutes and didn't harm the floor. They finally came back and refinished under the cabinet as promised in our contract. The floors look nice, but it was a major hassle working with this company.

Response from My Hardwood Floor Guy
This review really catches me off guard as I went above and beyond for this customer to save her old floors. To start these floors where so worn out, that they needed to be replaced as opposed to the resurfacing face-lift that we did. I saved her thousands of dollars as I gave her old worn out floors new life. Since the resurfacing has limitations, it was only natural the that the floors were going to have flaws as we did not sand the floors. I came back out after the service to inspect the floors and I elected to go into my pocket and re-coat the floors again, to give her a better finished product. In this business nobody moves furniture, but it is a service that we offer to help out our customers. With that said we are not professional movers, and I train my guys that if it is to heavy and can cause damage to the furniture or the floors, then don't move it. That is why when the discussion about the oversize China cabinet between my guys and the customer was discussed, they elected to come back after the floor has cured a bit. The customer then sent me a text telling me that we can move the cabinet, and then come back and move back after a few days later. I sent her the text that I cannot keep sending a crew back out multiple trips to move oversize furniture, and that if they cannot safely move it, then she will have to hire a professional mover . This was the only reason she wrote the bad review, she did not like that I stood my ground and was not going to keep losing money by sending crews out multiple times to move on oversize China cabinet. I am a firm believer in giving all I can to a customer, as if you look at the review we came back several times to make this right. She gave me a B rating in price, when I saved her thousands of dollars by saving these floors, She gave me a B rating in Quality, when that should be an easy "A", notice she had not complaints on the floor. She gave me a "D" in responsive when all we was respond by making all the needed trips to get this floor right. Finally an "F" in professionalism ,when all we did was show up on time to every appointment, work hard to get her floors right and in the end completed the job with satisfactory results. In conclusion, I think this review is nothing more than slander on our company. WE always strife to give the best possible service and use the best products in the business, and that will never change.
