Murphy's Corporate Lodging

We (family of 3 including a 7 year old) needed the space and features of an apartment with the convenience of a hotel while our house was being remodeled. Our Murphy's corporate apartment provided just that. I contacted Jennifer Dillard via email a few months before we were needing to move out of our home for remodeling. She sent me profiles of apartment properties in the area of town that I preferred. She also sent me a list of amenities. When we got a firm date for remodeling, she booked an available apartment. Jennifer and her staff were all great. The apartment came fully furnished, including a fully equipped kitchen, TV and DVD, cordless phones with answering machine, linens and towels, washer/dryer, vacuum, high speed wireless internet (AT&T), expanded basic cable (Comcast), local telephone service and maid service every other week. The complex we chose, the Alexan Post Oak, was new construction with modern design including granite counter tops, hardwood floors, 9 1/2 foot ceilings, large closets, a balcony, covered garage parking, gated access, fitness center and valet trash pickup 5 nights a week. For our 2 week stay, full payment was required up front. We were able to extend our stay a additional day when construction required it. At move in, Murphy's left one key in a lock box on the door and additional keys and remotes for the garage in the unit. Our unit was in very good condition when we arrived. Furnishings were almost new. Murphy's provided initial supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, laundry soap, dish washing soap and sponges. They also included hotel-like toiletries in both bathrooms and a welcome coffee basket. The two very minor problems we encountered were fixed very quickly. The problems were one key didn't turn in the lock easily and not enough plates/silverware for family of 3 eating 3 meals a day. The $169 per night was cheaper than 2 hotel rooms or a Residence Inn. Plus it had a real kitchen and the linens were first rate - the king bed in the master bedroom had 6 pillows!
