She was punctual and very professional. She took into account pieces of furniture we already had and our style. We loved almost everything she selected and she reselected any items we didn't love. I would definitely recommend Missy for large or small design jobs.

Missy's service and design style is excellent. This is the second time I have worked with her on a major project. She understands what I am looking for and is very respectful of the budget. She does not hesitate to intervene with the contractor when things don't go as planned which is not unusual when doing a large renovation. She is always prompt for her appointments and will call even if she is going to be only five minutes late. We have total trust in her and believe her to be honest and a person of integrity. Her fees are in line with others I have checked out and are reasonable in my opinion. The pictures I have included do not show the finished project with the accessories etc but I was going for a peaceful, spa like feel and she has definitely captured it.

I had good experience. They started in October. It's an ongoing process. She was very nice. She was very professional and very detailed.

When we found out we were moving to Houston, we were ready to give up our collection of “make do” furniture after years of traveling abroad for work. Our home was newly built with gray interior walls, white trim and hardwood floors throughout, a blank palette. We wanted to have a coordinated look that reflected us. This is the first time we consulted with a designer. She was upfront with her fees and her process. We viewed this as an investment and, upon reflection; her knowledge and contacts saved us hours of research and searching showroom floors. We discussed what we liked from the rooms featured on her website and then went shopping with her, so she could see what else we liked and how we responded to what she showed us. Missy is easy to talk to and most importantly an excellent listener. Missy showed us what we could achieve through custom upholstery and furniture, something we would not have done on our own. She guided us through the process of selecting unique fabrics that would work together with our chosen selection of chairs, sofas and pillows. We had not used rugs in any of our prior homes and we had a great time selecting them and love the look and function they provide. Missy suggested using shutters on the thirty-two windows in our home. That was a big commitment and the results were stunning. They look great inside and out, function perfectly and appear as though they came with the house. We specifically wanted a library. Missy has a “less is more” approach when it comes to the things we accumulate through the years. We agreed in principle, but told her how much we wanted a library and what that space would mean to us. She suggested a carpenter and together we met and discussed our options and timelines. The built-in white bookcases match the style of our home and maximized the shelf and storage space that we needed. When our books arrived from years of storage, Missy saw what we loved about the space. The rug, chairs, table and decoration perfectly completed the room we had imagined. The media room started with as a big blank square space. With Missy, we found a large comfortable sofa to anchor it. We needed storage in the room in addition to a cabinet to hold a large television. After looking at the options, we chose custom cabinets. They are slightly taller than most of the commercial available, beautifully finished and literally made for the space. We can’t imagine the room with anything else. She selected black lamps, which give just the right amount of light for watching a movie and a rug to tie it all together. Also this room provided the most wall space to hang the art we had bought over the years. She suggested re-framing three prints into the same size and color frame and now we have a statement wall that adds color and tells a story. Missy’s touch is found in every room of the house and on our front porch in the form of two orange rocking chairs and large blue planters. We couldn’t be happier.

Missy Stewart is awesome! She was involved in my kitchen/living area/powder remodel from it's inception. I had put necessary updates off for a long time because I was afraid the process would be just a huge ordeal. I'm a working mom, so I really didn't have time to shop/browse incessantly. Missy is a real pro, and not only made the process easy, but kind of fun! She has the gift of listening to all of your ideas and preferences and then processes them magically into a beautiful, cohesive plan for your home. Sometimes she offered suggestions out of my comfort zone or challenged me to look at a space a different way. I was always at first skeptical, but then the ideas would grow on me and then I would just have to have them! Or, if you have your heart set on something specific she can beautifully integrate that into your updated space. So the space will reflect you-only better! She will inform you a the latest trends and updates and how they could work for your space, yet she also has a keen sense of what is timeless and classic. And always she stays aware that this is YOUR home in which you will be living, so you must love the outcome. She makes sure of that! I wholeheartedly recommend Missy Stewart. Hire her and your biggest problem will be fielding all of the endless compliments you will be getting about your new look.

Missy was responsive and prompt to our appointment. She had a very good eye for incorporating all of the tones within our home, including coordination with our furniture and accessories. She had excellent suggestions for our master bathroom and paint that will make a big difference.

Sent an inquiry with some details about a project I need to do at my home. Took several days to get a response. The response was to quote me a ridiculous rate. She is entitled to set her fee but the professional response would have been to promptly decline to take a job of the size I described in my inquiry. Since she demands a huge minimum fee, that should be in the description put on Angie's List so that potential clients don't waste their time inquiring about her services unless her very high fee schedule fits their project and budget. Also buyer beware, she lists a service area of about 25 miles but fails to note that in addition to her professional hourly rate she charges fees and costs for traveling more than a mile or two from her office located on the eastern edge of her described service area. It also seems from going back and reading her reviews that some of her clients ran out of money to pay her during the job and had to finish up on their on own. This vendor may legally charge whatever she pleases but since her minimum rates are much higher than the norm she should post them in her listing so that she is not inviting inquires that will not make economic sense for the purchaser.

First I engaged Missy to remodel the master bath. It turned out so well I engaged her as my designer for the master bedroom. The pictures of the final results are GORGEOUS, but they do not really show how absolutely beautiful the real thing is! Missy has great design experience and impeccable taste. But above all, she is flexible and works WITH the customer. She was always cognizant of what I (the customer) wanted, as well as of my budget. The fact that we exceeded my budget for both rooms was me, not Missy. And I have no regrets. Once I saw how beautiful things could be, I realized that you get what you pay for. I gotta say, you can't beat custom ... worth every penny! I believe that my fabulous master suite will help sell my house ... when I decide to move; for now, I want to enjoy my new master suite. I could go down the list and point out all the amazing big and little details that were Missy's ideas / suggestions and that I would have NEVER thought of. Every time I take out my hairdryer that is plugged into the drawer (and never needs to be unplugged), open up the pull downs in front of my sinks, take my shampoo out of the recessed shelves in the shower, close the lid on the "soft close" toilet, use the dimmers on the bathroom and bedroom lights, look at the AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS custom drapes in the bedroom (not cheap, but -- more than anything else -- worth EVERY penny!), and just drink in the elegant simplicity of the master suite, I feel happy and "at home." (P.S. - I heated the tile floors in both rooms. That was my idea. People scoff at this because we are in Houston, but that is one of my favorite things about both rooms!) I paid Missy design fees, but was able to buy amazing and unique pieces that can only be purchased from vendors that sell to "the trade" (and the prices are very reasonable). Missy made the design and remodel projects fun and exciting. She came over to do the final staging for both rooms ... even helped hang towels and make the bed. If you want to have a positive experience with a designer, I highly recommend Missy. Finally, as indicated in the specific questions above, Missy is reliable, responsive, and professional. She honors her commitments, and has great connections in the design community. Don't hesitate to hire this woman! I have already engaged her to remodel my entire downstairs (living room, dining room, kitchen, and outdoor patio). I can't wait to get started :)

In one word, Missy Stewart is ?Great?!! Assuming that a more detailed review would be helpful, below are our observations and experience. We had been planning a complete kitchen remodel for years but didn?t know where to get started. We had talked to a couple of designers; however, they had their vision and didn?t seem to take our thoughts into account. We then became aware of Missy Stewart. She immediately responded to our inquiry and came to our home to understand our needs and desires. She truly listened! Remodeling can be overwhelming with selection of contractors, design, countertop, knobs, etc., etc. ; however, Missy made it easy. Based on her understanding of our style, etc. she would narrow down the selection to 3 or 4 alternatives. She would share her recommendation but also offer a couple of alternatives that we might not have thought of. Often she would make suggestions that initially weren?t to our liking; but then, after a few days that suggestion went from ?not really?, to ?it might work? to ?I like it? to ?it?s great!? Missy brings a unique skill set to a project. She has a construction background and a great design style. Missy can effectively communicate her design ideas with contractors. She is also able to hold contractors accountable. She can be as engaged in the project as you wish. Missy can be the ?project manager? or design consultant or anywhere in-between. We were so impressed with her that our project expanded from a kitchen design to a complete downstairs remodel. Her recommendations also take into account function and purpose. She helped transform a room that was rarely used to one that we now spend hours in. Missy has a great personality and makes remodeling fun. Even though the project is completed, we kind of miss her. We would definitely use her again!

Missy was a key factor in helping us buy some new furniture for our home. She talked with us to understand our style and some special requirements (we need pet friendly fabrics), took our input and came up with several options/selections for each of the pieces that we were looking to buy.. All of that work helped us make decisions fairly quickly. Missy also had several suggestions on accessories - rug, lamp, custom pillows, window treatments - that made our new pieces look finished in our home. Missy was diligent about follow up to help us keep moving forward and finish our project. I highly recommend Missy and would definitely contact her for future projects at our home.

She started to, but I ended up not using her. It was not any fault of hers. I just decided to go another direction. She was prompt, returned phone calls, and easy to work with.

We flew from Denver to Houston to collaborate with Missy Stewart Designs as we renovated, actually gutted, our 1910 home. I had sought her expertise before and Missy Stewart’s talent is unmatched in interior design. From our initial meeting to discuss our style, timeline and target budget through the final "grand reveal" of our new home, she exceeded expectations every step of the way. Missy has a "flare" that is able to marry traditional home features and furnishings with a touch of the unexpected to create spaces that feel comfortable and inviting yet fresh and relevant. Missy was exceptional at quickly interpreting our tastes and finding pieces that we fell in love with at first sight -- or when necessary, recalibrating on the spot thus contributing to the efficiency of the selection process. Further, we feel like we got exceptional furnishings throughout our home that can stand up to the wear and tear of an active family of 7 but that were within our desired budget and that reflect our personalities. During the course of our design and build experience, Missy always made herself accessible and continually provided interested, experienced and exceptionally talented advice (or an ear, when required) and her advice was delivered in a timely, candid, kind and professional manner. We would hire Missy again without any hesitation. We thoroughly enjoyed the process and LOVE the results of our collaboration!

This is our second project, the first by another design firm rates highly for finished product but the overall experience with them was SO poor they were not even in consideration. On the new project, our furniture was aged, mixed and out of date. We were ready to do something different an inspired by the many nice boutique hotels we have visited but knew we couldn't accomplish it on our own. We interviewed two designers found on Angie's list and chose Missy based on her reviews and our perception that she understood what we wanted to accomplish and she communicated well with us. We were not disappointed! While elements of this process are interesting for me, I give Missy and my wife all the credit for creating a beautiful new home for us. I felt Missy listened very well, stood her ground and made good arguments for what she knew was important to be sure that the finished product exceeded our expectations. She thought of many things that would have never crossed our minds had we just gone out to buy furniture. In detail Missy helped us first select an idea or theme for what we wanted. She then helped us select specific and some unique furniture, new and beautiful paint along with a great contractor and lighting upgrades which we would have never thought of. She also chose fantastic accessories and colors that compliment everything very well. She coordinated the selection of all of these so that it wasn't overly burdensome on our time and organized and directed the installation. The end result truly exceeded our expectations and we have had many compliments on it. We now truly consider Missy a friend and will use her services should we need them again and will certainly recommend her to others.

Missy is simply the best designer you can ask for. Her ideas are superb and she is very detail oriented. Her selections are based on the customers tastes. When I liked a perticular tile she was more than happy to refer me to a location where I might be able to get the tile from. I have no doubt she is the best designer you can find in Houston.

I would definitely use her again and may follow up when we move to our new house later this summer. She was a consummate professional!

It was good. She was very nice and personable. She gave me a lot of good ideas. I had her look at all the rooms of the house -- the main rooms and the nursery. She gave me great ideas for the paint colors for the walls too.

It was very good. She was very helpful and willing to go the extra mile. She always responded to our emails and followed up with us. I was very happy with the service. She gave us feedback on colors and furnishings. The scheduling was fine and she worked around our schedule and came after hours.

Missy has been a great help to us in making our new home look the way we want it to, despite the fact that we have a lot of odd, old stuff to work with! Missy has helped us integrate the old with the new in ways we wouldn't have thought of on our own. I've learned a lot from her. She has been responsive, insightful and professional all the way. She's also a lovely person and a pleasure to work with. I started with an Angie's List "Big Deal" but we've kept working with Missy because we have continued to benefit from her help. I recommended her to my daughter as well.

Missy is currently working with me on a bathroom remodeling. After months of looking at tile & granite, I turned to Missy for guidance because I was completely overwhelmed. Missy has been very professional and punctual. She has helped me tremendously make decisions, offering advice and alternatives, while trying to stay on a budget. I have now gotten several bids and ready to move forward. I could not have gotten this far without her! She has been a tremendous help.

She provided us lots of good ideas to use. We were very pleased.

Missy was great to work with. She was very professional and responsive. A great bonus that we had not accounted for was her ability and willingness to pass on her discounts to us. This offset the cost of her fee and proved to be a good value. Missy was honest, pleasant, punctual and now that we are in the house, we are able to see even more how her advice proved to be the right decisions for the overall design. We still have a lot of work to do and will not hesitate to bring her back for some finishing touches and additional projects.

I took advantage of a special offer on Angie's list for an interior design consult. After buying the coupon online I was contacted by Missy within 24 yours. She scheduled an appointment immediately. She was even willing to schedule an appointment outside her normal business hours to fit my schedule. On the day of my appointment she arrived at the scheduled time. She was warm, friendly and very professional. She listened to my concerns and then went to work. She really help me visualize where to place key pieces of furniture. She also gave me ideas on color schemes and appropriate sizes from my dining table and couch. The actual consult only took about an hour. She used the second half of time to seek out furniture pieces she thought would work well for my area. She continues to send me emails with furniture ideas. I got exactly the service I desired. I would definitely consider hiring her in the future. She is a pleasure to work with and has great ideas.
