After interviewing several other companies, we hired Missouri City Fence Co. to install 221 linear feet of western red cedar pickets on 2x6 ground contact treated pine boards with a gate. Mr. Mason's crew started on time and finished on time as promised for the agreed upon price. The material that was sent with his crew for the project was as discussed and excellent quality. His crew, Anselmo & Oscar, were professional, were attentive to detail, & worked well together. They were conscientious, answered any questions we had during the project, & left our property they way they found it. We were extremely satisfied and we would not hesitate recommending Missouri City Fence Company to our friends and neighbors.

I called Missouri City Fence on the enthusiastic recommendation of a friend. We set an appointment for 1 pm on a Tuesday for them to come out and give me a quote on the work. At 12 pm, they called and said that they would be unable to come out that day. We then rescheduled for the following Tuesday at the same time. At the time, I did caution and say that we were still waiting on the results of the property survey so that might delay our project. I was told that that wasn't an issue. The following Tuesday came and there was no phone call so I assumed we were still on for 1 pm. No one showed up and no one called. The only thing I can think of is that my hesitation on the property survey may have given them the idea that they could postpone/cancel, but a phone call would have been nice. Property survey is completed and line is marked now but I won't be calling them again.
Description of Work: I needed an existing fence extended and an electric driveway gate moved.

The boards were warping due to the warm weather and my gate would not close. They were amazing to work with. They got the job done in about 45 minutes. I did not expect them to be able to fix the fence the same day. They were the most reasonable and Tom is a nice family man.
Description of Work: They fixed the gate on my fence. They have also installed 3 sections of wood fencing for us in the past as well.

When we called Missouri City Fence, only voice mail answered and they never returned the call. This happened twice. Finally I was able to catch a 'live person' there, who gave me the cell phone number of the owner, Tom Mason. We had not dealt with him earlier, but the original salesman/supervisor, 'George', was no longer there (a warning sign, since 'George' had been decent to work with, & responsive, whom we'd coincidentally worked with before when he was a honcho with Houston Fence, a major fencing contractor). After talking to Mason, he said he would send out one of his crew to assess the situation. Nothing happened. Called him again a month later, and this time his crewman came out and assessed four posts were broken (who'd have guessed?), but these sections were 8' high and he never checked the actual posts which were on the other side. We agreed to the repair cost. They were supposed to fix the broken fence after the utility companies surveyed the area for lines, but Missouri City Fence never came back out to do the job. Then a month later I received a call from Mason, who asked if they could come out within two hours to fix it. Turns out that the period that the utility companies' survey expired was - surprise! - that very afternoon. Couldn't accommodate his last-minute request, so utility companies had to come out again and - you guessed it - Missouri City Fence never called to come out and fix the fence. Finally I called Mason again about just when, after three-plus months of procrastination, they were going to fix the fence. He then replied, "I don't think we can help you" - this after being strung on for three months and having previously spent $9,000 with them on that fence. Post-script: We had another more-professional fence company promptly complete the repairs that Missouri City Fence refused to complete. They said - and showed me - that the four replaced 4x4 fence posts had rotted through at ground level. I have never heard of 'treated' fence posts rotting through in less than 20 years, raising obvious questions about the quality of Missouri City Fence's materials.
Description of Work: In 2007 and 2008, Missouri City Fence installed approximately $9,000 of cedar fencing around our large residential lot. In the spring of 2010, one four-post section was obviously not being supported by its 4x4 posts, as it was waving in the wind. We called Missouri City Fence to assess and fix the problem at our cost, since the fencing was out of warranty by that time.

I am pleased with the quality and look of the fence. It is well-built. There were a few issues with the installation: 1. They did not call and tell me the exact day that they would start the work, even though I specifically asked the salesman to let me know. I only knew that it would be sometime in the next week depending on weather. 2. I was told that all the old posts would be replaced. I was told that the corner posts with concrete would be dug out and the non-corner posts would be cut off level to the ground so as not to show. However two old corner posts were re-used as they were too close to underground electrical boxes to safely remove. Also the worker was not going to replace 3 old posts close to the house because he said they were still good but I insisted that I wanted new posts so he replaced them. 3. I signed a contract for a 2 rail fence, but the worker told me that he made a mistake when he had almost finished installing 3 rails. I think it was an honest mistake. He gave me a choice of tearing out the 3rd rail or paying $1 more per foot to add the 3rd rail. I paid the dollar more per foot. My neighbor in the back complained that the new fence did not align exactly (taller by maybe an inch) with her do-it-yourself fence. The worker showed her that he was installing it at the proper height and that her fence was off. The new fence matched up perfectly on the other end. Our fence also does align perfectly with the neighbors' fence on the gate side, again by maybe an inch or so. The worker showed me that was because of the unlevel ground between the two houses. There is not a lot of space between the two houses. He would have had to cut off the bottom of the new gate in order to match perfectly and I did not want that.
Description of Work: Replaced old cedar fence in my backyard. New fence was 1 x 6 cedar, 6 ft tall, 3 rails, 4ft wide gate. Length was 219 ft.

There were a number of significant problems that required my getting involved. For the 75-foot fence, they followed a slight ground slope (about 18 inches difference from end to end) instead of keeping the top of the fence level. It was quite obvious that this slope gave an unacceptable appearance to the fence. I caught this before they started the pickets, and they were able to correct the problem. Even then, their first level line was off by about a foot and they had to re-do it. The crew installed the wrong 4x4 posts for the a/c enclosure and later had to rip them out and start over. When installing a latch on one of the gates to the a/c enclosure, they cut a chunk out of a picket, which looked bad. After this was pointed out, they fixed that problem. The entire shadow box enclosure was not well planned. Two sides ended with very narrow pickets, which is very unattractive. With a little more planning, the pickets could have been cut down a little in width so that it would come out even using pickets of equal width. They came back and did a partial fix of one of these problems, but it still isn't right. In addition, one of the posts isn't quite vertical so that the last picket before the post has a gap that varies by about an inch from top to bottom. One section of the 2x6 cap on the long 7-foot fence split within a week or two. They came back to replace it, but the first attempt was unsatisfactory as the end was not cut square and left about a 1/4 inch gap. The workman then had to do another fix.
Description of Work: Replaced about 75 feet of fence with 7-foot capped picket fence and replaced an air conditioner enclosure with a new 6-foot shadow box fence having two 4-foot gates.

The only problem I had with them was timing. I didn't really know when they were showing up. It wasn't a big problem, but I would have preferred to know exactly when they would be here. They did do a good job overall, though.

The fence was installed in two days. The crews workmanship was excellent. The only problem with the work was that the pickets were installed on the wrong side of the fence the full length of one side. When I called to request re-work, they said theyd have my salesman return my call, but I never heard back from him. Id recommend this company to other people, but advise them to take a closer look at the estimate.

Missouri City Fence Company seemed to construct the fence well and it is holding up real well. It is still level and I believe they put the supports in properly. They used quality wood and products. It was raining, but they still finished the job in two and a half days and didnt make a mess out of the yard.
