I submitted the request for a quote on their website and got a call back on the 2nd workday after. They promptly scheduled a day for an estimate, came out on time and assessed the reapairs needed. Once we signed the agreement to start work, they came out within a week and did the repairs - very professionally, on time, and they cleaned up the job site. This same company did a roof replacement on a previous home we owned about 8 years ago and I remembered being happy with their work at that time.

They gave us three different quotes like we asked for and explained each price. He was in our backyard for about a half hour taking measurements and sitting in the driveway for another 20 minutes to write up the report. He asked if we had any questions and let us know the quote was good for 30 days. I had previously had a bad experience with a different company for the same job so it was nice dealing with him. They were also cheaper than the previous company, too. We haven't yet hired them, but we are planning to use them when we have the money together.

They came out in a reasonable time period to give me a quote, about two days. They called before arriving, gave a written estimate on the spot. I kept it to show my husband and faxed it to them the next morning. They arrived a day earlier than expected to do the work! (they called first) and the work went smoothly. It was someone different than the manager who had given me the quote. I went out in the yard to watch for a little while. The workman politely asked if I had any questions, and did not seem to be upset that I wanted to observe him at work. I paid the manager in person when he stopped by the next day. I think that we paid a slightly high, but not unreasonable, price for the work done.
Description of Work: M&M put a moisture barrier around two skylights in our living room, then added flashing, then replaced the shingles and put a rainwater diverter above each skylight. The light that was leaking in rainy weather has not leaked since.

The representative was polite, professional, and helpful. He was on time for the appointment and measured quickly. When he was done, he went to his truck to prepare a bid. Before he left, I had a comprehensive bid package with a neatly printed bid and plenty of brochures. He spent almost 15 minutes explaining various options and how they would affect the price. He was very clear about the services he would perform if I chose to hire him.

Very well. Work was started as planned. Had to get started before settlement with insurer State Farm was finalized (that took much longer than it should). M&M was very cooperative and helpful with dealing with State Farm adjusters. As the work proceeded and additional damage was discovered, M&M was very reasonable in their pricing and performed the repairs on time and on budget. The job's supervisor Kelly Haygood did an outstanding job keeping the work moving and clearly explaining their pricing "in advance". He also took a personal interest in making sure that the work was performed to a high standard of quality.

Although M&M?s price was a bit higher than the other companies that gave us bids, we decided to go with M&M based on their ability to do both the construction of the roofing project, as well as the re-roofing (replacing shingles) of the rest of the roof, and their reputation on Angie?s List. -- Our service rep was Bernard. When he came out for the estimate, he was very thorough in his discussion of what would need to be done, and how it would be done and he provided us with a packet of information along with our estimate. We asked Bernard to come out again as we had a few more questions regarding our options in the estimate, and he obliged and again answered our questions. -- Once we chose M&M, and had our plans completed by another company, Bernard applied for the permit. Within a few days the permit had been approved, and Bernard called late on a Tuesday evening to let us know that they would be starting work in the morning. -- The first day started with an error. The workers showed up before Bernard, and started removing shingles from the garage apartment? unfortunately, the garage apartment was not part of the work they were supposed to be doing. Bernard apologized, and assured us that they would replace the area of shingles that had been removed. At the end of the first day, as the crew was cleaning up, we heard glass being thrown in the garbage and wondered what that was from. We later checked our garbage can to find beer bottles. We shared this with Bernard (since we didn't know when they had been consumed), and he talked with the crew and found out that when they had finished the work for the day, and were waiting for Bernard they decided to clean out their cars. -- Over the next couple of weeks, the work did not proceed very smoothly. I would guess that this had to do with the fact that they were working all day during the 100+ degree heat wave. We had a slew of minor errors and mistakes, including workers slipping and punching holes through our ceiling and breaking outside water spigots. Although most of the issues were minor, the workers would never tell us about the problems before they left, we would just find them on our own, which was a sore spot with me. However when we would alert Bernard, he would apologize and assure us that they would fix the problems. -- The biggest problem we had was when a storm came through one night and rained into our open roof. We had some minor water damage to an area of our ceiling and wall where the water came through. We called Bernard, who came out that night to put the tarp on. He again apologized, and assured us that they would take responsibility for any damage. -- Towards the end of the work, I noticed that they had not yet replaced the rotting fascia boards, which had been agreed to and included on the estimate. Bernard had forgotten this piece of work, but had the workers come back out to replace as agreed. -- When the workers had completed the work, my husband and I went out to inspect. There were a few details that had been left out, such as adding bead board to the underside of the new overhang to match the bead board on the existing overhang, and making sure that the boards of the overhang were evenly cut and covered by the metal trim. Unfortunately, this took another couple of weeks to get right, but it was made right in the end. -- In the end, the job that was supposed to take 1-2 weeks took just over 4 weeks to complete, plus another two months to get the inspection passed. -- Thankfully they fixed all of the issues (or in some cases reduced the price of the roof so that we could have us the damage fixed by a professional) that occurred, and the new roof looks nice and works as it should. -- It's a shame that the process was so painful and the communication was lacking, because the quality of work was good in the end.
Description of Work: Re-roofing of entire house, including a roofing build-out project in which they re-pitched the back half of the roof to match the front portion. Also had a Radiant Barrier sprayed on the underside of the roof in the attic.

We certainly strive to do our best for each and every customer and are concerned when we hear some less than positive comments. At times, errors occur and we work hard to handle each one with professionalism and courtesy. Miscommunication happens to all of us at different times although we try hard to give all our customers the attention they deserve. Our sales staff do handle multiple contracts every day and can get pressed for time and occasionally situations happen that are out of our control are make it difficult for everyone involved. We do hope to solve each situation quickly and to the customers satisfaction as best we can when these errors occur. The salesman involved did handle each instance to this customers satisfaction and they were please with the outcome. At times, again, there are situations out of our control that delay the work to be finished, (ex. bad weather, inspections delays, etc.) Many times more work is added on to the job per the customers request or as happens more often, issues arise that were not known before the job was started and time is extended again for those reasons. We do realize human error plays a part and for any issue where that has happened, we do apologize for the errors on our behalf. We hope this customer will give us another opportunity to please them.

It went very well. Rick Shelton was our rep and was very good. Price came in much lower than another estimate, and in-line with a smaller roofer. (Get at least 3 estimates is my advice.) I liked the fact that Rick suggested the roof was inadequately ventilated and offered to install additional vents at a low cost. M&M also quoted a price that included addressing any plywood replacement; another roofer's estimate did not include this. (We called a reference on the other roofer, who complained that they found damage and it was a big hassle with the extra charges.) Everything happened on time. They sent a large crew that completed the job in a day and they cleaned up well. The new roof looks great. The quickly followed up on a minor item where some phone wires were left hanging. I *really* liked the fact that they were willing and able to replace the satellite dish on the back of my garage saving me from the hassle of working with DirecTV. Rick advised they couldn't guarantee it would be aligned when replaced, but in fact it was. The HeatBloc 75 was an extra option we decided to go with at about $1000 extra. You may want to shop around and maybe you could save a little $$$ on that.. They sent a subcontractor the day after the big roof job and he did a good job, no complaints. The HeatBlock had a noticeable affect on the temp upstairs during very hot days. I looked in the attic and the HeatBlock was applied thoroughly on the roof decking.
Description of Work: Installed 30 yr GAF/ELK Natural Shadow Shingles on house & detached garage. Price paid included additional ridge vent, two new roof jacks, and application of HeatBloc 75 on underside of roof.

Because of my horrible experience with Brauns' (faulty work twice... never calling me back... not honoring their warranty), I was an extremely paranoid customer. but, I was also desperate to get my roof fixed. Braun's faulty work had also caused a great deal of damage inside my home... and I couldn't start on those repairs until I was confident that the roof was fixed for good. Anyway, from the moment I first called M&M, I was completely impressed with their customer service. They met me at my house (the manager for my area of town AND the guy who would be doing the work) and we tried to come up with the best solution. Rather than repair the roof with the usual tar-n-gravel (which nobody will warranty for more than a year), they suggested using an epoxy coating instead. That product is guaranteed for 10 years, and come with all kinds of added benefits. Anyway, they came back to my house again to answer all of my questions and were exceedingly patient with me... knowing that I had had a bad experience with Braun's. On the days that the epoxy was applied (it was a multi-day process), the REGIONAL manager came by to make sure the process was going smoothly. In addition, the INVENTOR of the product stopped by to make sure the application was being done correctly. Now... here's where I was INCREDIBLY IMPRESSED with M&M: The first time we got a big rain, there was one tiny spot that was still leaking. Immediately, they called me back, came out to diagnose the problem, and fixed it to perfection. Braun's blew me off for months, even when their work was under warranty. They treated me like a nuisance. In contract, M&M was great every step of the way... especially when we realized there was one tiny spot that still needed attention. That, to me, is the sign of a great company. Anyone can take your money... but to find a company that does great work AND has tremendous integrity is a real keeper. I will need to get my shingled roof replaced in the next year or two... and I definitely want M&M to do the work!!!
Description of Work: I had a flat, tar-n-gravel roof on an extension of my house. The roof was leaking, and I had initially hired Braun's roofing to do the work... which turned out to be a NIGHTMARE! Anyway, Braun's failed to honor their warranty, and caused me so many nightmares, that I decided to do the work all over again with a new company. Luckily, I found M&M! In a nutshell, they replaced my flat roof... but not with the usual tar-n-gravel. They used an epoxy coating that has completely put an end to my flat roof woes.

I called to get an estimator scheduled to look at my home for painting. This was done at the end of July. The secretary took all my contact information and said that she would have someone return my call to schedule an appointment. It is now the beginning of September and to date, I have never received a call back. Perhaps they just don't want my work, but out of courtesy, they could have called back to let me know that what was going on.

We are certainly saddened when a customer is not happy since we strive to treat each one with professionalism and courtesy. At this time, it is difficult to say exactly how this occurrence happened. We do show record of the call being received and we forwarded that information to a sales representative. Unfortunately, we cannot track each sales persons contact of the customer; when they call, what time, if information was incorrect, etc. Even with modern technology being good, there are times our emails, faxes or phone messages fail and it is possible the salesman did not even receive the request to contact this individual. We encourage our customers to call us back and make sure we have their information correct, since human error is involved and mechanical errors as described above do occur. We can get in touch with our personnel quickly in that case, to let them know of the delay and try and keep on track with a quick response time. According to our records, we do not show any further contact after their initial phone call which made us unaware of this issue till the report they posted on this website. The original salesperson was informed of this situation and was calling the customer immediately. We again apologize for the miscommunication and hope they will give us another chance to be A Different Kind of Contractor!

I was most impressed that in one day that had 75% of the home finished. They came back the next day to put another coat of paint. But overall, I couldn't believe how quick they worked. He was going through a slow season (because of the hurricanes that is no longer the case) and he came the next day and started working with his crew. They took off the old siding and put on the new and painted. I was so impressed with their service and how efficient they moved, that I would hire them again

My experience with M&M was excellent, the crew finished the roofing project in less than two days and cleaned up very well. A week later, I came home to a house with gutters on it. The work was completed within the time frame estimated to me by the project representative (Joe Harris), who made several trips to my home to discuss the project with me. When one problem was encountered (the wood shingles under my old roof, which is a very old roof base and is now considered improper installation) during the roofing, I was called immediately and given the option to replace the wood shingles with decking. A discount was given to me because the estimator missed this in the initial review, and so I was only charged for materials. Overall a great experience, my roof looks amazing and the gutters were installed without damaging the architectural features of my 1920s bungalow.

As the highest-rated roofer on Angie's List for a very long time, I am extremely concerned about the standard of quality of the companies rated lower than them. After I made two phone calls (one time actually leaving a message with a real person) and submitting two online requests to schedule an estimate for roof replacement and wood siding, I still had not received a response. This occurred over a period of about 3-4 months. Interestingly, they did respond to my husband (albeit a delayed response). M & M's estimate to replace our roof was, in comparison with the other estimates we obtained, the most expensive, yet consisted of the lowest-level (least expensive) replacement options/materials. As for the estimate to replace the wood rot, after taking time off of work to give the guided tour, the quote did not even include all of the areas where wood rot existed around our house. My husband followed up to request additional information and alternative roofing options, but we have never heard a word in response. Needless to say, we went with a different company who provided higher-quality roofing at a much lower price. I am truly disappointed that M & M was so unresponsive. Mind you, we live within 2 or 3 miles of their office, and I would see their signs in yards around our neighborhood. Despite the level of work they must have had since Hurricane Ike, I would expect a simple return phone call or email to tell me that they are too busy to take additional customers. Responsiveness, positive or negative, is basic customer service, and they did not provide it.

After this long period of time, the sales representative has recalled, to the best of his knowledge and paperwork he has retained, the conversation(s) regarding this customer. We have proposals showing 2 separate estimates: one for the roof replacement and one addressing the rotted areas needing to be replaced around the house. A follow-up call was made after sending the estimates to be sure the customer received them. He feels certain he addressed any further questions they had as best he could at the time. The roof estimate was the lowest type of roof as they requested in order to get the lowest price, presumably. The roof estimate included any rotten decking found to be replaced. That particular estimate also included any upgrades or better roofing shingles that the customer might be interested so they could have in their possession from the beginning all the choices of a cheaper roof or the most expensive roof. We also have notes stating the appt. was on a Saturday, so no recollection of taking time of work was mentioned to the salesman. We try hard to correct any errors made on our part when we are given notice to those mistakes. We also strive to make our customers satisfied as much as possible and to the best of our ability. We feel all our customer are due respect and importance and regret this customer feeling anything other than that.

I had no problem with his work. The roof seems to be fixed. I was pleased with him as the service was prompt and it seemed to be okay. A representative from their company called me the next day. He offered to come out on July 4th, which was a surprise and impressive. We scheduled an appointment for him to come out in the morning on July 4th. He called that morning to let me know he was going to be about an hour late. Upon arriving he gave us his M&M business card, a brochure on Simonton windows, suggested vinyl windows, and took notes to quote us on replacing nine (9) western facing windows on three (3) floors of our townhome and one (1) patio door with a suggestion for blinds between the window. He looked at the patio door, but he did not look at the windows, nor take measurements. He told us that he just quoted a lady in our neighborhood who has the exact townhome (there are other townhomes in our neighborhood like ours). He noted our email addresses; and, stated that he would email my husband a quote by Monday. Because we did not receive a quote by Wednesday, I contacted the M&M office to follow up. The person who answered the phone told me to contact the person who came out to the house. I told her I did not have his number to which she asked for the name of the contractor. I told her that I could not remember to which she replied 'ugh, well...'. Frustrated, I told her I requested a quote online. I asked if they had a system which kept record of to whom our request was sourced, and if she could look up the information by my name or address. She then asked for my name, confirmed our address, and gave me the contractor's name and number. I contacted the guy the same day, leaving a message. Because I did not receive a response, I contacted him again on Thursday. Still no response. Just before submitting this post, I saw a recent post from someone who encountered a similar experience. It seems the company is starting to slack on customer service and professionalism. Perhaps they should do a better job of managing their employees/contractors; moreover, take more responsibility in servicing their customers.

The Sales Representative did, in fact make his appointment on July 4th. He was running late but did call the member and inform her he would be late and continued to her house to measure the windows. He also did send her a proposal shortly after the 7/4/09 appointment time and did not know that she didn't receive it. We hope our customers take into consideration a holiday weekend can cause delay in getting the proposal back to them in a timely manner. He had assumed she had received it which he feels apologetic for poor communication and failure to followup with her after the proposal was sent out. In an effort to not be one of those "high pressure salesmen", he feels it was poor judgment to assume she had received the estimate and when he didn't hear back, assumed she had rejected it. The salesman has since emailed the member with this information and his sincerest apology on the miscommunication. In regards to the office call and confusion, our computer system will tell us who handles that service area and occasionally we have not been made aware if that has been changed by the area manager. In this case the salesman handling this file had changed and our system had not been made correct, thus the delay. We are certainly a company who believes each customer is important and need to be treated with respect and regret her feeling otherwise. The sales representative has also offered to be of any help on this project if they were still looking for a window quote or need further assistance in any way. He also has offered a discount for their inconvenience and trouble. We do strive to be a company that treats their customers with respect and want them to trust us as being A Different Kind of Contractor. Occasionally, there are mistakes made. We do all we can when we are made aware of those errors, to correct them quickly, effectively and as reasonably as possible for our customers satisfaction.

i started like anyone else with a phone call to M&M to set up an appointment for an estimate, within 2 days i was contacted by one of their contractors. i set up an appointment for him to meet with my wife saturday morning because i would be out of town. it was understood he would come to my house between 9am-11am. he called right before comming which happened to be just after 11am my wife missed the call and promptly called back after listening to the voicemail, once contacted he said he had already moved on to his next client. this was quite a disappointment considering he didnt mention any type of conformation and my wife waited around all morning specificly for him. the next issue was he failed to show up again for a similar reason this time he made it out but this time i simply gave up and went on about my day, however i did give him instructions over the phone of what i needed done and from there he drew up an estimate. once we agreed on a time frame and work to be done he was able to get the job done within a week, i was impressed by that. the workers were all well mannered and started at 7am and worked to 7pm and had the job done in 2days. the only major issue i had during the job was they started to remove roofing from my garage which was not to be done, he did however make it right and replaced the entire side of the garage free of charge. i was a little disappointed because he never actually called to tell me that his workers had done this i just so happened to be in town when it happened. overall they did a great job and would work with this company again, i believe that both of our tight work schedules somewhat hindered us from making progress any sooner.

Description of Work: An old wood shingle roof had to be removed first. Then a top of the line new roof was installed.

The sales rep/crew foreman, Dan Trevino, as well as the crew were great. They did both roofs simultaneously and got them done exactly when they said they would. They did a bang up job.
Description of Work: They replaced my roof and my mother's roof after a hurricane.

They were very complete in their inspection of the roof on a 3 story townhome. The guy went in my attic twice to check for leaks etc... The only negative was that the estimate was quite a bit higher than others. I still give them an A b/c I believe they would do quality work.

We apparently have a roof leak, so I consulted Angie's List for a roofing contractor and identified M&M Roofing. After first calling their office, I was told one of their roofing specialists would call me within the next 1 to 2 days. The following day "David" called and I told him about the leak we experienced during a recent rain storm. I also made the mistake of advising him that we had had an A/C contractor in the attic to inspect the A/C system (near the location of the leak), and that they had pointed out that the leak MIGHT be coming from the vent pipe penetration to the roof, but they thought it was more likely a leak under the shngles (either way, they hadn't installed the vent pipe, nor did they do roofing, so they were just offering an opinion). David immediately jumped on this and advised me that the A/C contractor should take responsibility for the repair, and that they would want to use their own roofing contractor, and if there was anything else he could do to please call him back - and then he abruptly hung up. I called him back and left him a message that I would like him or someone from M&M Roofing to inspect the roof and to provide the requisite repairs (I didn't even ask for an estimate first). He never called me back. I called their office again and related the story to the woman who answered the phone, and said I had heard about them from Angie's List, and I REALLY needed someone to fix my roof before the next rain storm, She said she would check into it and call me back. She didn't, so I called them back, related the entire story again to the receptionist, and asked pointedly were they interested in doing this work or not, and if they weren't to just please tell me so and I find another contractor. I was assured they would help me, and that she would have David call me back the same day. Over one week later I still haven't back from M&M or David. I can't comment on the quality of their work, but they surely don't treat their potential customers professionally or with respect. All I needed to hear was that they were too busy or the job was too small for them, but instead I've wasted well over two weeks waiting for calls that never come.
Description of Work: We experienced an apparent roof leak during a recent rain storm and had water dripping into our second floor master bath, and were seeking a roofing company to help us identify and repair the roof leak.

Response from M & M Roofing Co Inc
The following information is from the sales representative who handled this customer. Seeing as how time has gone by, he is recalling to the best of his ability the conversation(s) as well as he can recall. Sales Representative quotes: " He had said he had the A/C replaced and there seemed to be water dripping down the vent pipe. I suggested his A/C contractor review the problem due to the fact most vent pipes are changed out and most A/C contractors have their own roofing people to assist in this venture. I then gave him my cell phone number if he needed any further assistance and to date, I have received no such request." We are certainly a company who believes each customer is important and need to be treated with respect and regret him feeling otherwise. We strive to be a Different Kind of Contractor and try hard to make each customer satisfied to the best of our ability and handle any mistakes or miscommunication made as quickly and efficiently as possible.

A M&M representative showed up at the appointment time. I showed him were the leak was in the closet. Besides seeing the water stains on the ceiling he did not see any water damage in the attic He climbed up on the roof and did see some issues realated to the builder install of the roof but said that really should not be causing the roof leak. Then a void in the morter on a vertical piece of trim caught his eye as he was coming down. After seeing that he stating this is were your leak is coming from and asked if I had any caulk and that he would caulk it for me while he was up there which he did. I told him I had to pay him something for driving out and taking a look at it and he would not take any form of payment. He just said to call him in 10 years when I need a new roof.
Description of Work: M&M came to give estimate on roof leaking in master bedroom closet.
