M&M came out to do an estimate on my 3 story town home, they told me it is getting very difficult to find people to do 3+ stories, so they recommended that I should have them do the repair while they were there as it might be several weeks until they find someone to come back. The guy I spoke with was friendly and seemed knowledgeable.

Description of Work: I own a three story town home near downtown Houston. The home has a nice rooftop patio with a wonderful panoramic view of the city skyline. This patio acts as a great outdoor living space for us. We frequently use it during nice weather to eat breakfast or have a few happy hour drinks. The house rooftop patio developed leaks over time and water was coming into the house in droves during heavy downpours. Water was coming in through the old porous tile and the doorframe that was not correctly installed with underlaying flashing during original home construction. I contracted with M&M to help fix my leaking roof. They pulled up the old tile, pulled out the old doorframe, laid down new flashing, applied waterproofing layers to cover the patio, installed a new doorframe and door. Problem fixed, right? Not so fast... The first time it rained after the work was complete, I had a nice big puddle of water about an inch deep waiting for me. All the water was piled up on the side of the patio that was opposite the drain. No water has gotten into the house.... So that problem was fixed, and I am grateful for that. A brand new problem was created. Now I have an unwanted pool on my rooftop. Every time it rains I have to go spend 15 minutes sweeping the pool of water towards the drain to get it off the roof. The last thing I need is a stagnant pool of water on my rooftop acting as a breeding ground for west-Nile virus carrying mosquitos. This patio space has effectively been rendered useless as a living space for my family now. I called M&M to let them know about the new problem that they created on my patio. They told me that the system they installed was supposed to "hold water" and that this was "normal" for rooftops that have this system installed. What I do not think that they understood is that this "rooftop" serves as a living space for my family. Its like having an inch of water in your living room every time it rains. This is not acceptable. If M&M had been professional enough to lay down a simple level before putting on the waterproof layering, they could have diagnosed the problem at that time and could have come up with a solution to make the drainage function correctly. I asked the owner why they did not do this and he was speechless. He said that they would certainly start doing that from that point forward. Well, I guess I am glad that they used me as a "guinea pig" for these types of projects. Please be forewarned if you are asking them to do something similar for you. They are obviously amateurs when it comes to doing this type of repair. They may do an awesome job at your typical roofing jobs... But I think this was a "one-off" job for them that they took on blindly without really knowing what they are getting into. They should have been more proactive to make sure that the finished product would drain correctly. Based upon all the good reviews on Angie's list, I thought they would recognize that they made a mistake and that they would do whatever it takes to redo the project correctly. Instead, I got a reluctant owner who basically said "oh well" and wanted me to pay them as much as i paid them the first time around to redo the project correctly. The owner was completely rude to me on the phone and raised his voice at me several times. I feel like I have been robbed of $4,500. I asked for them to brainstorm some creative solutions to the problem that they created and they never followed back up with me. They do not "get" good client relations. I am in a service related industry as well. If I provide this type of shoddy service to my clients, I offer to do the job correctly without charge. That's good client service. I am completely dissatisfied with this company and wish I could go back in time and hire someone else who would have taken care to do the project right the first time. Think twice before hiring them to do this type of job for you.

Description of Work: Talked to Travis; he is currently trying to locate type of roofing metal we need. Never called me back after last conversation-called him, got voice mail, told him we were still waiting, guess we would have to find someone else-no response.

Description of Work: Replaced entire roof with composite shingles to match original shingles on the house to repair several leaks in the original roof. They were very prompt, arrived when they said they would, cleaned up after themselves and we haven't had any leaking issues since.

Description of Work: In January of 2012 Rick Shelton provided me with a fair quote to replace siding torn apart by a raccoon. I agreed to his recommendation of cement board, and work proceeded on time. I was delighted that the paint matched that of the rest of the house exactly. Since it's older and weathered, I worried there would be a mismatch, but no. It looked great. At the time of service Rick quoted me a price on replacing the roof since both Hurricane Ike and the raccoon did a number on it, too. In September I asked Rick if he would still honor the roofing price he quoted back in January. He did, so the crew came back out. The work was completed in a day and a half, the workers going strong until dark on the first day, the yard completely clean by the time they left on the second. Again, I'm delighted by the quality of the work, the quick completion, and the fair price for both projects. In addition to the good job, I have 10 year transferable warranties on both siding and roof. Today the owner of the company, Doug, called to make sure I'm satisfied with the work. That's great customer service. I highly recommend this company.
