Lopez Painting

Luis and his crew (including his son and daughter) were great. Luis came out to bid promptly and gave me a quote on the spot. I didn't get back to him right away thinking I could get a better price (initial quote was $4200). Everyone else was over $7000. The crew showed up promptly in the morning and worked diligently until at least 6:00 pm. Luis did not balk when I asked him to do additional things once the rotten siding was removed (i.e. add additional 2 x 4's, add insulation)in fact, they did more than we had specifically talked about just because it didn't make sense to paint one or two stairs, they did the whole thing. Although I might have gotten the work done for a little less, I'm not complaining, they worked in the worst heat. The crew as also very clean as far as contractors go. No smoking on the job AND they cleaned up and hauled stuff away on a daily basis. They were here Monday through Friday, then came back Saturday morning to put the patio furniture back in place once the deck had dried. I will say that the job could have gone a little faster had they used a nail gun, they're old fashioned I guess and did everything with nail and hammer. This is the second contractor I've gotten from Angie's List. I've definitely recouped my membership for the year!!

It went great. They did a really good job and finished all in one day. They were good about their turn around time. It was nice, because it was very convenient. The works looks very nice and professional.

I was extremely happy with my experience. I called Luis on a Tuesday, and he offered to come out and do an estimate that evening. He started the job that Thursday morning, worked all day on Thursday, and finished by about noon on Friday. For all three appointments he arrived a few minutes BEFORE the scheduled time!!!The quality of the work was excellent-- good edging, etc. I plan to hire Luis to paint four more rooms soon. I recently bought a house and have been having lots of work done to it by many different contractors. I can't stress enough how happy I was with Lopez Painting. Luis was responsive to my call and did exactly what he promised for a very reasonable price. I recommend him highly.

I called Tuesday, he came to check in the afternoon, and at 8am Wednesday he showed up with his daughter and began painting. They finished, did a great job.

They are professional and polite and prompt.

Very disappointing experience. I contacted Mr. Lopez due to the good Angie's List rating he has. However, I was very disappointed with the way he handled things. He came to see the work, gave me an estimate and agreed on starting the job the following day. However, the weekend before he left me a message saying that a big job, out of town, came up so he had to postpone my job by about 2 weeks. He proposed to send other guys in his place and asked me to call him at his cell to let him know if I agree with having other people taking care of my house painting. I called back and his daughter answered his cell. She immediately proposed to send other people. However, I told her that since I had references from Angie's List about him, I would prefer to have him doing the job. She said that she didn't know when his father was coming back. So, she was going to call him (although she had answered by call from his cell phone) to check when he was back and then she would call me and re-schedule my work. However, she never called me back. I thought: if this happens before starting the work, can we imagine what could happen if there is any problem with the job done? So, I did not call them back again. ($1,500.00)

Painting job was done very well. Team arrived one time and begin to layout drop cloths in all areas. Team had all of the own equipment and after the job was over cleaned up everything. Very very minor spots on the carpet and some areas towards the bottom did not have good coverage. I did not notice in my walk through. Company offers to come back with any issues.

It was a great experience. He was very prompt and did an excellent job. I called him on Tuesday, and he started on Saturday. He finished on Monday. I was amazed at how quick he and his team painted.

Lopez Painting did a great job on all painting and on the concrete water blasting. However, I know they did not perform a final inspection on their own. Therefore, I did a final inspection and asked them to touch up several small areas before I would pay the final retained amount. They did the touch-up work and we closed out the contract. They were very diligent and hard-working for the duration of the project. It appears to be a family operation and they just do one project at a time, but they provided a bid very quickly and completed all work in a very timely manner.

Couldn't be happier, in April I'm having him return to paint kitchen, apply trim and paint cabinets and walls.

Mr. Lopez was responsive and prompt, and seemed very professional. His price was competitive with the lowest bid I received; the only reason I did not hire him is that I had a personal reference and recommendation for the other low bid.

Mr Lopez was quite punctual in his appointments with us. He and his workers started right away and worked long hours in order to complete the job before bad weather set in. They performed all the work we agreed on, in an excellent manner. We are very happy with the result.

The painters all did an excellent job. They left no mess and never dripped or spilled anything. I gave them a "B" on price because I feel like they could come down on their prices a little.

I thought they did a remarkably good job. It did not take long. They look as good as new. I was impressed by how well it turned out. They were very nice workers. They left no mess behind and spilled no paint. They were very much professionals.

The job went extremely well. Louis Lopez met us at the house within 15 minutes of our appointment and we went around identifying repair points that we had found. He pointed out additional areas that needed fixing. We requested treated wood be used for repairs and a high quality paint with mildecide be used. Louis computed an estimate while we were standing there. The estimate was a bit higher than expected, but not totally out of line with what we expected. As the company was well recommended by Angie's List, we agreed to have them perform the work. We had to wait several weeks to get started as Lopez had a prior job to finish, and then we had house guests in. Finally, rainy weather in Houston prevented Lopez from starting on the targeted day. On the first decent weather day the painters arrived and efficiently began work. They took few breaks and completed all the work in two days. This is a 2700 sq ft, one story house with brick veneer and wooden trim. The garage is sided with wood.

I called Mr. Lopez and arranged to meet on a Friday at 5:30. It got late and he didn't make it that evening, we rescheduled for 12:00 Sat. He arrived at 1:30. His estimate was very reasonable, and they were available to start Monday. They did the whole job in 2 days, and were very neat and thorough. Mr. Lopez was very polite and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a cheap paint job that will brighten your house. it won't last long, but at the rate they charge you can have it redone every 3 years if you want.

Mr. Lopez provided an estimate for the job within 24 hours of me contacting him. Once completed Mr. Lopez went through the work performed with me and the few touch ups that were needed were completed as promised. I was very pleased with the time frame and quality of work.

They were a little over 30 minutes late. The job itself was satisfactory, but they left a large pile of washed-off muck at the curb that we had to dispose of.

I hired Lopez Painting for a small job to see if they could deliver quality work. I explained that I would need the entire interior of the house repainted and that the half-bath was a test. I'm afraid that despite this warning he still left paint brush bristles embedded in the woodwork, he left brush strokes in the paint, he did not sand the walls smooth after using joint compound to fill some uneven spots, he left little bits of gypsum debris painted onto the wall surface. It was a serviceable job but not one that you would expect to see in a high-end home. I will be hiring another painter to redo the work.

They came two days after I spoke with them, and painted the entire thing in a day. It was a family who came, Mr. Lopez and his two children who were in their late teens or early twenties. They worked quickly. Mr Lopez was very sweet. They use Sherwin Williams paint, and I had chosen from swatches from Lowe's, and had to match my swatches to their brand. They put two coats on all the areas. They didn't put a coat of primer on, which we knew ahead of time. They only used it in areas they repaired. They worked from eight to eight, straight. They listened to music on a small boom box that was played soft enough I only heard it when I went in the apartment. We are very satisfied.

On the day I originally called Lopez, he offered to come over for a quote at 6pm that night. At 6pm he called and said that he would call me in a few days to reschedule. It was the night before Thanksgiving so I was okay with that. He called again 2 weeks later and said he would come over that night at 5:30 for a quote. At 5:30 he called and said he would be at my home in 45 minutes. An hour later he called and said he was 20 minutes away. I tried to give him directions (even though he had had my address for two weeks by this time) and he kept saying he knew how to get to my home. Twenty minutes later he called and was lost again. He had made a wrong turn right after I had talked to him and was now more like 30 minutes away. By this time, he was 2 hours late for the second time and I was sick of waiting around for him. I just told him I would find another painter. I fully intended on hiring him for a pretty sizable job. He wasted a lot of my time and was very unprofessional.

They were on time. Went above and beyond. They aim to please.

Mr. Lopez and his crew arrived at 8:00 a.m. as promised, and except for a rainy afternoon, they worked until 6:00 p.m. every day until the work was done. They were all polite, quiet and hard working. They did not power wash all surfaces as the other contractor proposed, but I didn't need it. They sanded by hand, primed where needed, and painted by hand. Mr. Lopez even volunteered to place wood trim on a couple of small clear-story windows that the builder had omitted (for no extra charge.) The work was beautiful! There was no paint on the window glass and I could find no drips or spills on deck and sidewalks, no damage to landscaping, etc. and they even cleaned the windows by hand after the painting was done (leaving no streaks!) I know that the other contractor would have done more prep work, but the paint would not have lasted any longer: without lead in the paint, exterior paint lasts no more than three years anyway. At this price I can repaint 5 more times for less.

Luis provided an on-the-spot estimate that was significantly below others. He was ready to start work immediately. They completed the work in 6 days, working from about 8:30 am to 7 pm with minimal breaks. The crew was polite and friendly. They cleaned up each evening before leaving.

Lopez and his crew were hard-working and punctual, working 10 hours per day, Mon-Sat. They repaired extensive damage to the siding. The house looks beautiful. I think I got exceptional value for the money. Their estimate was 40-50% less than other bids. This is where I saw the trade offs between Lopez and other more expensive paint companies: Water-only power wash vs. power wash with TSP and mold inhibitor. Siding repaired with pressure treated wood vs original cedar. Some fascia repaired with partial vs. whole length boards. Two coats paint via spray gun vs. roller brushes. Regular primer vs. Sherwin Williams primer/ Sherwin Williams paint vs. Sherwin Williams paint with enhancing additives, hardening agents, etc. Sufficient attention to details vs perfectionist attention to details. Despite the trade offs, I saved enough money to paint the house twice over.
