Mentioned to realtor when looking at the house the shelves in pantry looked unlevel, she stated that the previous homeowner would have stated that and would have had it fixed and disregarded further discussion. Wish I had insisted on a level because it would have stopped the sale from occurring. House had sat almost 4 months empty. One shelf in the pantry is the most level and the previous owner had left paint and light bulbs on it, the shelf above my 5' head so there was something in the pantry when the home was purchased. I asked if their was a warranty for the house and was told just the standard. Apparently there is a one year warranty and the house is approximately 1 1/2 years old. With house ranging in the price that was paid, expect a better level of quality and communication. Builder's sales rep has received several emails from our realtor asking for someone to come look at the pantry and the response after 4 weeks of emails was that the house was over a 1 year old and warranty had run out. Emailed someone on their website 3 days ago and a rep did come out today, stated he was not interested in goodwill for the builder. Explained to him that we could not use the pantry as designed and I did not like broken pottery and cans of food hitting my shattered knee that is wired together. Told him I could not resale the house with the design flaw/sloppy workmanship. Cutting corners on a house whether custom or not is not acceptable. Told the builder's rep that I would appreciate his boss, the project manager to call me back today, said he would by this afternoon and I would have a verdict, did not know it was already a legal issue. Stated that I would rather not file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as mediation would have to occur and it would be ideal if we would could work this out for both parties. No phone call received from the project manager as promised. Discovered that the dryer vent is vented through the attic when the builder's rep said he would notinstall the dryer vent to the previous owners as it was not up to code. This was all new to us and he said since he did not install the dryer vent he was not responsible for showing us where it was or what to do about it, (yes a call has gone to our realtor), what an unprofessional demeanor. Builder's rep stated a carpenter would show up today and fix the pantry. Emailed him last night as a reminder that he was to have his carpenter here today, it took us several hours to dismantle the pantry and store all the contents throughout the house, he had said all items had to be removed. Did the carpenter show up this morning at 9:00 as stated to us and in his email, no. Did I take off work to accomodate them, yes. He could have been professional and called us. A lie is a lie. Keystone Classic Homes stated they would not come out and do the work as promised, they did not like my post on Angie's List and our demanding emails. Keystone never denied their poor work product. Have hired a carpenter to fix the pantry, he stated he had never seen such bad pantry shelves from a custom home, that it was done bad from the get-go, the pantry built would never support the shelves and the MDF was snaking on every shelf. Builders do make mistakes. 14 inch crack in the tile under the toilet in master bath. Another builder told us this builder knew that the poor tile work they did would result in this crack and of course the guarantee ran out 1+ years ago. Our neighbor who purchased a custom home 8 months ago has 2 hairline cracks in tiles. Shoddy work never ends.
Description of Work: House is approximately 2 years old, have not the specific date it was built. Paid in the range of $440-500,000. Expected quality from the builder. Every shelf in the pantry is not level. No support and the shelves made of MDF not plywood, all shelves in the bedroom closets also made of MDF, not level and shelves in bookcase made of MDF and one shelf has crashed with very little weight on it in the family room, I had checked that all the adjustable pegs were secure but did not pull them out, apparently it had crashed before as it reflected some of the painted peg hole ripped. One inch in a joint caused the AC unit to rust, required an AC person to repair, realtor paid the $270 to get that fixed. 1. Did email our realtor and the builder's sales rep stating bowls placed on a shelf came sailing off and broke. 2. Did call the builder's rep and state shelf in family room crashed and broke crystal and put 30 holes into the wood floors, response was "how odd". 3. Did receive email from builder's sales rep stating the 1 year warranty on the house had passed and nothing could be done about the problems we had. 4. Did email someone listed on their website 3 days ago. The builder sent out a rep today that stated his project manager would call us this afternoon with a verdict. After he saw me put a level on the shelves, he whipped his out (he took no photos), stated that it would cost them a great amount of money to come in and rip out the panty and do it correctly. 5. Did have another carpenter give me another opinion and it was that the builder should come rip it all out, use plywood not MDF and place support beams from ceiling to floor. 6. Did ask the rep if there was goodwill and pride in their workmanship, he said warranty had run past the 1 year and the house was just a resale.

Response from KEYSTONE CLASSIC HOMES
There are always two sides to every story. For those that are interested, we have posted our version of the story… Keystone Classic Homes is a mid-sized homebuilder based in Houston, Texas. We specialize in building high quality homes, generally priced from $300,000 - $750,000. We have two product lines, including semi-custom single family homes primarily on the west side of Houston, and high-end townhomes in high growth areas surrounding Downtown Houston. As the largest builder in the Weston Lakes community, Keystone Classic Homes has a long-term vested interest in the community. In fact, several of our company’s principals call this community home. Keystone closed on the sale of the home referenced in the related posts almost two years ago, and the home has since been sold to the people that posted their “review” herein. Prior to closing, the original homeowners (our customers) hired one of the toughest independent third party inspector’s in the business to perform a thorough inspection of the home. The issue with the pantry shelves that is referenced in the “reviews” does not appear in this inspection report. The original homeowner hired the same inspector to re-inspect the house at the end of their one-year warranty period, and once again, the inspection report came back with no mention of any issue related to the pantry shelves. Prior to the end of the warranty period, our construction superintendent made several visits to the home to assist the homeowner with other minor repairs, and he was never informed about any issue with the pantry shelves. Recently, we received an email from a local realtor notifying us that her clients (that purchased the home from the original homeowners) were having trouble with the pantry shelves and asked if we would look into it. Despite the fact that our warranty on the home had expired almost a year ago, and the fact that we had never even met the new homeowners, we agreed to look into the issue and see if we could help resolve the problem. We sent our construction superintendent over to look at the issue. While it was unclear whether the cause was related to misuse or a construction defect, we were willing to replace the shelves as a favor to the homeowners. However, despite the fact that we were doing the new homeowners a favor, they became very demanding of our schedule and also began introducing a number of new items that they wanted us to address, including some items that were installed after we sold the home. During this time, we noticed a post on this website disparaging our company and it became apparent to us that we would simply not be able to assist in this case.
