OVERPRICED!! They charged my elderly brother $4,000 for a tank water heater. The water heater costs $600 at Home Depot! Instead of repairing they pushed a replacement. They took advantage of an elder man. Obviously they don’t have a sense of honor!

Called, set appt., told me tech would come to house and give me estimate, he called instead asked me what needed done, i told him and he told me $345 for a 10 minute job. i know that because before my stroke when i could physically do it that`s how long it took. The commercial saying we will come and look then give you an estimate is bogus!! I`m on a fixed income and don`t need bogus companies in my life!! STAY AWAY

My husband and I have used John Moore services for nearly 20 years and have generally been satisfied with the work and customer service. Unfortunately, today we received a NOTICE OF INTENT TO LIEN regarding work that was done on our property in February of this year. At that time the John Moore representative offered and we accepted an option to pay our balance monthly. All was going well until it was nearly time to make the final payment. Apparently, the accounting department is not aware of nor are they in agreement with these type of arrangements for customers. It is unfortunate that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. The threatening letter that we received this morning was out of line. The John Moore representative agrees to send a letter that we are not in default once our final payment is made. WE AREN'T IN DEFAULT! They have the receipts! Be careful using this company. They respond quickly, but the customer service is spotty. DO BETTER MANAGEMENT!😡

If anyone who I’ve ever done business with deserved zero stars, it would be John Moore. Their TV commercials make my skin crawl and seeing another one just now featuring John Valentine and some of his employees sobbing with family trying to gain sympathy compelled me to write a review. These people don’t care about your family. Without having to read all the details, the short version is they had no program absolutely screwing my 78 year old mother when they had the chance and have since refused to make it right. Here’s what happened - remember the freak February freeze in Texas back in February 2021? Well mom had pipes freeze like so many others. In fact, she had 3 minor leaks in her attic. She called John Moore for repairs and they were there for 1 hour making the repairs. The bill? An eye-popping $800. My mom lives alone and didn’t know any better and wanted her water turned back on so she paid it. Since then she let me know and talked to other neighbors and learned how seriously price-gouged she was. After several calls and letters to John Moore (and later to the Texas Attorney General) nothing has been done. She’s given up trying to make it right and John Moore simply doesn’t care. Don’t do business with these crooks. John Valentine - dry your tears. Wipe them with the hundred dollar bills you stole from my mother. Shame on you.

Currently have a yard with a 45 foot trench in it and exposed pipes. They were supposed to be finished with this yesterday and now all workers have disappeared and no one is communicating with us. We’ve already paid them over $7,000 and one of the plumbers said the trench wont be filled until next week. We have a toddler, a dog and my wife is pregnant so this is a huge hazard and so irresponsible and dishonest. DO NOT use them.

I had a broken pipe in the bathroom and it needed replacing, the guy came out to give an estimate and upsold me the latest pipe that will expand 10 times it's size and shrink back, and if I used this type of pipe, I would never have broken pipe issues again. He proceeded to tell me the job was $3500 to fix the plumbing and $5500 total for plumbing and restoration which now John Moore does the sheetrock and paint. I asked my handyman how much for the restoration, he quoted me $75, while John Moore is charging me $2000 to do. The guy doing to estimate charged me $750 to remove the bathroom mirror so they could cut the wall behind it to get to the pipes and he wanted to charge me another $450 to put the mirror back on afterwards. I told him I don't want anything about the mirror on the job I was paying for, I would have my handyman take care of the mirror. I paid the $3500 for the job, turns out they still charged $750 for mirror removal which took weeks to get a hold of anyone to address for a refund. Do not trust, scammers and crooks.

I get sick every time I see thier commercials about being honest. I had them replace an entire AC and furnace and wanted a luke unit to what I had top of the line Trane. They put in a Lunex unit that was not even close to what I had. Not only was the unit cheap , noisy the installers were horrible. They damaged the outside unit on install, also they damaged my walls, didn't turn off the gas when then unhooked it and filled the house with gas. When they turned it on insulation from my attic blew out all the vents and I didn't have the same air flow as before replacing. After they left I decided to check out all the function and found out the furnace did not work. It took another three trips to get this thing working. My fault I trusted this company so be aware they are crooks in what they charged me. I would advise not to use them.

DO NOT USE! John Moore came out to my house for a plumbing issue which they claimed they fixed and charged me $225. The issue was NOT fixed, then they charged me another $400 to simply pull a toilet, show me I had one (1) break in my line and gave me an estimate of $12,000+ to dig under the house to fix the line AND refused to put the toilet back because the plumber claimed it was unsafe. Of course I called someone else for a second opinion. Guess what? I actually have 3 breaks in my line! I was charged $400 by this second company to have two (2) toilets pulled and put back, full static testing to ensure the plumber had a full understanding of the TOTAL situation. I will be paying $7,000 for the digging under my house to fix three locations. John Moore was more than happy to charge me almost $13k and guess what, I still would have had an issue because they were so sloppy in their work that they would have missed the other two breaks. Before writing this review, I tried to get some type of refund, however, the only John Moore was willing to do was give me credit for future work. Like I am really going to use them after they tried to rip me off! The TV commercials are fantastic and 100% fake and false. DO NOT USE JOHN MOORE FOR ANYTHING!

"Call John, get charged More" - they almost got their motto right ... Why? ... I needed a circuit breaker changed. I sent a picture and asked how much it was. "our technician will have to come out and assess before we could quote a charge. Standard four hour window three days later (to be fair, it was the holidays). Fortunately, he came out on the front side of the window. Assessment, it needed to be replaced. Cost $715 - not having time to do the research into things and it being the holidays, I just agreed. Maybe it's an expensive part? Maybe it's a complicated job? I'm not an electrician. Well, let me tell you ... Complicated job? No - two screws to take off the face plate, one screw to unsecure the wire from the main board, two screws to unsecure the wires from the circuit breaker, then do it in reverse. Five to ten minutes total. Expensive part? No - part cost $70 if you buy it retail Even if you factor in a service call fee of $100 (like you can bring your house to them, kind of like being charged for the table and service-wear at a restaurant - how else was my giving you money for the food I eat at your restaurant going to happen?), that works out to over $3200/hour for the ten minutes of work. Forget sending the kids to college ... if they work just ten hours a week and want to take three months off, they can still make $1.28M/year. ($3200 x 10 x 40) Conclusion - people with good advertising and too much greed taking advantage of a situation. When I called to try to remedy it, they said it was a standard charge, but did offer me a coupon discount of $50 "in good faith". That did not show up, by the way.

John Moore's salesmen must really believe we are stupid. We needed our water heater replaced. The John Moore salesman gave us an estimate of $5,000 to replace the water heater and bring it up to code. I explained to him that estimate was much too high, and that a Google search of water heater replacement costs revealed this cost should not exceed $1,800 to $2,000. We called another company (with many good customer reviews) and they were able to do the work for us for a more reasonable price of $1,800. Lesson learned: Never agree to have work done around your house without receiving several estimates from experienced companies (with good references) who have done this kind of work before.

John Moore Plumbing Services is extremely OVER PRICED! The service was good but the prices are ridiculous. I had a service to remove the toilet flange assembly and replace it with a new one after I tiled my bathroom. I could accept the $808 charge because they had to make 2 trips. However when I expected the toilet to also be installed on the return visit I was informed that wasn’t in the original price. I was quoted $778 FOR A SINGLE TOILET INSTALL! Since they were already there and I needed the toilet installed, I regretfully paid the price. For those of you out there wanting to install a toilet, don’t call John Moore. Lowes will install toilets for $250. We paid more than 3 times the price we should have paid with John Moore. Their slogan of “call John, get more” clearly means get more out of your pocket.

Scheduled an appointment for ac service 8/29/2023 @ 7/8pm, ac didn't come back on. Technician was scheduled to come out 8/30 between 12-4 (Joe Harb). Joe called around 1:34pm, informed me that the blower motor had locked up. GREAT! What's the cost Joe ($1599). Ok financing it is. Remind you its EXTREMELY hot. Financing approved, signed & complete. Joe phones back, I don't have the part with me but another tech does. He'll be here within an hour. Joe leaves! 2nd tech arrives @4:24pm (Troy). Troy installs the part and it OVERHEATS... Management was suppose to call me but that never happened. Now Troy's trying to sell a whole new furnace 16k total package OR 5200 for just the furnace. My ac is considerably old now and the part isn't available (lol). Umm Sir, so the part you brought to install fits what again? No thank you! Troy says we'll try to find that part and return @ 10 am 8/31. Still no update!!

Advertised a $99.00 unclog drain service, so we had them come out to do that and see why our hot water wasn't working. The $99.00 unclog cost us $314.00 because it was "not easily accessed" (took them 10 minutes to unclog) and quoted us $3500.00 to repair our water heater or $4500.00 to replace. We stopped them from the water heater repair and called another company for a second opinion. The other company charged us nothing to re-light the pilot light that had gone out. Sickeningly dishonest! I would NEVER use them again, and caution everyone to do the same.

This is my first experience with John Moore and probably my last. When I called the appointment setter she was very courteous and set my appointment. When the technician arrived I explained the problem I was having, I had a critter get into my attic and it chewed up about 6 feet of air conditioning duct and it was leaking, it had to be replaced. The technician went up into the attic, looked at the AC duct and said he would give me a price to repair it. He came back about 10 minutes later and said that the job was to small for John Moore to do because their contractors work on commission and that nobody would want to do it, he then said that the company would make him do it and he did not want to do it because it was to cramped in the attic. He said the only way that John Moore would do this work was to replace the entire air duct system in the house, I told him there was nothing wrong with the air duct system except for the part that was chewed up, he agreed, so he proceeded to tell me that I needed to have my air ducts cleaned along with a seal boot and DSV treatment and that would be a big enough job for them to do ($2600.00 for the job), I asked would that include repairing the torn AC ducts and he said no that job is to small for them to do and recommended I call a "Mom and Pop" AC company to do that repair. It looks like they have different contractors that do certain types of jobs and mine was just to small for anybody to do. The moral of this experience is if you have a small job that needs to done DO NOT call John Moore they do not do small jobs and will try to sell you something you do not need.

We call John Moore Services to come out to unclog a drain where our Washer hooks up to. When he got there he said we have cast iron pipe and they are all rusted. He wanted to sell us a whole new drain system for about $20K. I said I cannot afford that just try to use your drain cleaning machine so he did, but it wouldn't go down the drain only about three feet. So he stop and charge me $134.99. He left and I call a plumber a friend told me about. He came out and clean the drain for $200.00 and it works great.

I give NO stars to JMS. On Nov 17 their HVAC technician broke a water pipe in my attic resulting in damages costing $7657.26 in repairs. They still have not reimbursed me and ignore all my attempts to collect. Three employees from JMS were in my attic that day and not one advised the insulation was soaked. Their technician Charles James even said "no big deal - only a little water". By the time their plumber Clint Cangemi arrived to do the repair a bedroom ceiling was wet, the carpet was wet, the closet ceiling and walls were wet as well as the garage ceiling and wall. I had their plumber take pictures. I hired ServPro to do the repairs since I felt I could not trust JMS after all their lies. On Dec 13 their customer service rep Alicia Gbunblee called me saying "I'm calling to check on our offer of 500". She did not say dollars, just 500. I never received any offer, I asked what offer, who made it. Her response was "I'm just following up". I got no further info. On Dec 14 Monnah Pugh, customer service rep, acknowledged JMS caused damage, which was shown in the many pictures I sent JMS. Her acknowledgment email also requested invoices for the repairs. It is now Apr. 26 and I still have not received reimbursement. I caution everyone to not use this company.

We called the company to help replace a broken water pipe. We really needed some service since the water in our home could not be turned on until the pipe was repaired. The service man came and stated because it was a galvanized pipe, he couldn't touch or complete any service. We understood the original pipe would need to be changed to an updated material, but the representative still refused. He also mentioned we would need to update all pipes, and he gave us a quote of $16k. We had to go another day without running water. We ended up calling another company that offered several options and completed repair work the same day. The company has no regard to the immediate issues and wants to offer overcharged services that are not in the best interest of the consumer.

I recently had John Moore Plumbing services out to my home. The technician spent a considerable amount of time in the Attic checking the gas hot water heater. He said yes indeed I need a replacement and informed me that the current unit was not vented up to code. The quote given was over $4000. I wanted a second opinion and the New Company that came out gave me better news. Turns out that my current unit was up to code and was under manufacturer warranty. My dad always said always get more than one opinion on everything. Thank God I did!

So I had a water leak and called John Moore. The estimate was $2,142. I thought they were professional. Then they told me I had a bad valve on my water heater, they just happened to look when they were in the attic and also thought my water heater wasn't connect right and that their was a open rotted wood in the water heater vent., another $1,747, And then they needed to end cap my vanity sink before the water remediation people could build back the vanity that was $350.99 I watched John Moore , Turn the two faucets hot and cold hand valves off , unscrew the flexible metal water pipes and hand screw on two brass end caps in a total of 10 minutes. So for about $5,000 I am now John Moore's best friend. I found out later that John Moore's business model is to upsell the customer and that ALL John's Moore employees are paid based only on commission, not hourly or on a specific salary. I think maybe I get , but hey they were Johnny-on-the-spot and came almost immediately. I will never ever use John Moore again; they are not professional and told I needed a lot of unnecessary tasks done. Overpriced does not describe the cost. When you are charge 20 times what someting should cost it is pure robbery,

I am very unhappy with John Moore Plumbing. I had to have a 100' section of my sewer pipe replaced to the city line. It involved jackhammering through my pea-gravel patio (about 40 ft) and additional trench line through the yard (about 20 ft). It was a very expensive job, and I agreed to price. The job was completed in mid-May 2022. PROBLEM 1: The patio was poorly repaired. I understand that concrete related items are difficult to repair/match, but the job looked like a kid did the work. It really was very bad, and unsafe. In May, I asked that the job be done right, and the concrete guy did come out and look at it, and agreed to repair it. However, he was no show to several scheduled start dates. It is now Sept, and the job is still not repaired. In fact, the repair job is getting in worse condition. PROBLEM 2: The sewer pipe has now begun to to have issues again. I asked for them to diagnose the issue. I was told that plant roots have now grown in the 10 ft section of pipe between the house and the start point of the last repair. The tech is absolutely positive the roots were not there four months ago. I find it amazing that roots can grow so rapidly in the middle of a 1,000 sq ft section of concrete. Their suggestion is that I pay another large charge to bust through the other part of my patio. So, 1. The repair job they did to my patio was terrible. 2. The service to repair the patio is terrible. 3. The plumbing (sewer pipe) problem still remains, and I am expected to pay more to fix the same problem they were supposed to fix in May.
