I wish we had taken the time to more thoroughly research John Moore Services before contacting them to address an issue with a failure of our A/C system having initially bought into the company's advertising campaign hook, line, and sinker. Although we finally ended up canceling the installationb/ service call after contacting another, more reputable company, it was only after nearly 5-days without a working A/C system during record high temperatures. The original appointment was for between 9 - 11 am on a Friday and should have been the first call for the technician but we did not receive a call until after 10:00 indicating the technician was on his way. I had already taken it upon myself to perform some preliminary diagnostics on the system and was pretty certain that since the fan would start and then the circuit break would trip, the problem was probably the compressor of our 10-year old system. Upon arrival, the tech/salesman performed next to no diagnostics before offering 3 'repair' options from which we opted for option 3 (the most expensive) that included a new system consisting of an Amana/Goodman R410a condenser and evaporator coil and advised it would be installed at 1:00 the following day. One perk was the fact that he also offered the use of a portable A/C unit (8000 BTU) with the stipulation that the rental charges would be waved with the installation. The portable A/C was to be delivered between 3:00-5:00 pm that afternoon but despite phone calls every hour, was not delivered until 10:30 that night. Little did we know that this was to be a sign of rougher times ahead. The following day, we called at 12:30 to enquire on the status of our install and were advised the installers were tied up on another job but that a crew would be out between the hours of 1:00pm-3:00pm. Having heard nothing further by 2:45, we called again and were informed that the installers were having problems on the previous job and would arrive between the hours of 3:00pm-5:00pm - see a pattern forming here? Ironically the company's Quality Control technician stopped by around 4:00pm with the intent of inspecting the installers work (wife threatened to duct tape QC tech to a tree and hold hostage). By 7:00pm that evening, we received a call from a supervisor at John Moore indicating they were not going to be able to install the system and we would be reschedule for Sunday, between 9:00-11:00am. At that point I opted to head to the local big box home improvement store and purchase an additional portable A/C unit as the 'loaner' really was not cooling things off in our master bedroom. On Sunday, we called at 8:45am and the customer service representative informed us that the installers had left the office and were on the way and would call when 15-20 minutes before arrival. Obviously we did not receive any phone calls from John Moore and upon calling after it became obvious no one was enroute, the customer service representative again informed me that the installers were having problems on the previous job! Um, what? We were to be the first house on the schedule for the installers so how could they be having issues on a previous job? We were again rescheduled for 1:00-3:00pm and as that time approached, after another call, rescheduled again to 3:00-5:00, and finally 7:00 Sunday evening but alas, no one called and by 6:45 we were informed that we were being rescheduled for Monday morning between 9:00-11:00am - see a pattern here? Monday started out as a carbon copy of our Friday/Saturday/Sunday experience and despite a surprise telephone call from the installation/service desk shift manager at 6:45 Monday evening assuring me the installers would be out the next day, we had reached our limit. Having endured 4-days without A/C during record high 100-degree days and the uncertainty of not knowing what to expect next, 7:00 Monday evening I contacted another, smaller, A/C service company who despite being located in Spring, Texas responded promptly the next morning and installed a complete American Standard R410a system all in the same day! Following the arrival of the second companies technician, I again contacted John Moore customer service and informed them that based on the numerous reschedules and broken commitments, John Moore failed to live up to their commitment of customer service and that they were now fired and I cancelled the install.
Description of Work: Not applicable - John Moore was fired after 4-days due to a complete failure to meet commitments as well as a total lack of commitment to customer service satisfaction.

The plumber did what he was supposed to do and got the drainpipe unclogged so that the washing machine does not spout water outside and onto the floor of my garage like it was doing before he came out.
Description of Work: My washing machine would not work properly because the drainpipe was clogged. The plumber came out and tried to unblock the drainpipe, but he could not completely unclog the pipe. To completely unclog it would have been too expensive, as he said he would have to put a camera down the pipe to see exactly what was causing the problem. However, he did unclog it enough so that the washing machine worked fine afterward and has continued working properly ever since that time. Before the repair, there was water shooting out the drainpipe and onto the floor of my garage and since the repair, the washing machine has not done that.

When we originally called John More, we explained that we lived in a mobile home and wanted a new breaker box put in, or whatever else was needed to solve our problems for good, before anything serious happened! An appointment was set an the electrician arrived as promised. He looked over everything and told us what he needed to do, would cost a little over a thousand dollars! Since my husband and I are both disabled with a fixed income, we had to dig into our savings to pay him. We were told that he would have to come back the next day to finish the job, but on Saturday a different person arrived to tell us that he couldn't work on someone Else's job and tht our person had the day off. So we were stuck with no air conditioning in the main living area all weed-end, when the temperatures were in the mid 90's! A day or two later, another breaker started to pop. This was on the circuit for two very small, (5,000 BTU,) window air conditioner. For the most part, we didn't use the one in the guest room and turned the one in the office, off and on, as needed. At this point, I should tell you that my brother and sister-in-law lived in that room all of last summer, and kept the window air conditioner on 24/7, and we did still use the one in the office from time to time, and never had a problem with that. After a series of complaints to John Moore, asking for my money back so that I could hire someone who knows what they're doing, I was told that a customer service rep would call me back shortly to arrange a refund. When the customer service consultant finally did call, she begged me to let them and quot;make everything right!,and quot; and that they would send out a master electician, or senior electrician , or something like that, they guaranteed that everything would make be done correctly! I carefully explained in great detail , which actually boils down to the fact that and quot;this crap is worse than it was before you and quot;fixed it!and quot; He told me that it could be fixed by changing the circuits throughout the house, or something like that, and this would be considered and quot;a whole new job,and quot; which, of course means, a whole new payment! Call John, get Moore..... more misery..... more up selling,,,.. more taken advantage of..... more ripped off..... more scammed..... Shall I keep going or do you get the point!
Description of Work: Since we live in a large mobile home, and when we saw the John Moore advertisement on TV for a free inspection of our beaker box, I thought that this might me a very good idea for us, as our mobile home was over 12 years old, and we did have a small problem. Our master bathroom is quite large, so we installed a little 5,000BTU air conditioning unit in the window, The only issue that arrived from doing that was when the air conditioner was on, and I turned on my hair dryer in the bathroom, the breaker would "sometimes" pop. This wasn't a major problem but simply an inconvenience, because all I had to do was plug the hair dryer into another outlet in the bathroom, which wasn't on that circuit, end everything fine then. He also agreed to rewire the outlet on the island in the kitchen which had somehow become disconnect, so that I could put my new microwave back out it Before that, we had a smalled unit which we placed on the counter beside the stove and toaster oven, thus being very convenient for me. I could finally move the new microwave, since the outlet in the island was working again! After he let, I joyfully moved the microwave back on the island, where it belonged. However, much to my dismay, the breaker immediately popped again!

One of the electric box switches continued to trip and cause the lights to go out in one room. John Moore was called for a quote, was told that they had to evaluate before providing a quote. Representative arrived and was informed of the issues while looking at the electric box, requested a quote. The representative stated that the problem was a bad switch. Home phone rang, went to answer the phone. Upon returning to the outside, the representative was coming from his truck with a booklet. The representative was asked what the charge would be. The representative responded $379.00, sign here. WHOA !!! Sign here !!! That was the next question. The representative stated that he had completed the repair and payment was due. The representative was reinformed that this visit was for a quote in which a visit was required to receive a quote. The representative stated that he had already completed the job and had to be paid. Mad as Heck, the receipt was signed because the work was done. The main company was called and management was informed of the way their representative over charged us, mislead us and provided unprofessional service to us. They agreed that the representative was dishonest in his dealings to include over charging us. With all of this agreeing that they did they only reimbursed us $70.00!!! This was terrible. I WILL NEVER USE JOHN MOORE AGAIN AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES TO ANYONE!!! I even hate to see their commercial on TV now. No regards to their customer.

They are the worst home repair company that I have ever done business with. They made numerous false claims during my interaction with them. Not all things were resolved to my satisfaction, though some were resolved. They were making claims about code requirements. I enquired with the electrical inspector and it was false. I would never recommend them to anybody. Their price was outrageous. They were slow to respond.

Can't review John Moore services because they never showed up!!!!! Had an 5-8 pm window for service, did not show nor call. I called them a little after 8 and rescheduled for 8-9 am window the next morning, same song different verse, No Show! I called them at 10 am to cancel. At this point I joined Angie's List found an alternative company who was onsite within the hour, and promptly took care of the issue.
Description of Work: John Moore failed to show for two separate appointment times for a small water leak. Therefore no services were performed.

With the pest control service they have had to reschedule the dates and times because of issues that took longer with other customers. Each time, either dispatch or the technician, have called me on my mobile to let me know what time to expect them. After the phone call, they have arrived within 30 minutes of the call. The plumbing services came on a Saturday, no extra charge, and arrived 1st thing in the morning. Professional and fast service.

Overall, it was okay, but they didn't find the correct problem. I had to find a separate A/C man to actually fix the problem. They were good, but their top technician couldn't find what was wrong with the A/C unit. It was a simple problem. It was very aggravating. I had to call out my own A/C man that I've known for years. It took him a while to find it, but he found it. It was a simple coil that was only half-working. He should have known that. Their prices are outrageous. They did a couple of things to try to find the problem. I used him again at another location to put in a faucet, and it was way overpriced. They said that the work would fix the problem, but we were still having the same problem.
Description of Work: They tried to repair the A/C unit. I have also used them to put in a faucet.

Contacted for appointment for free estimate to have bath faucet replaced. Individual arrived within the time frame, reviewed the work to be done, gave an estimate, and scheduled to return the next week to complete the work. On date of service we were contacted by John Moore that the original plumber was no longer with them and they were sending someone else. Plumber arrived and gave estimate and scheduled to return the next Friday to complete the work. Second plumber did arrive, did an excellent job of completing the work. We had also requested a quote to install an additional faucet in our kitchen. We purchased the faucet. When completing this work it was discovered that a part was missing. Because of this plumber was required to return the next day, which he did and installed the kitchen faucet.
Description of Work: Replace bath tub faucets. Because of the type faucet originally installed this would require the individual to cut a opening behind the tub in order to replace the part. This required at least 6 to 8 hours to complete.

He was pretty good. I also got an estimate for some work that I needed done. I had the plumber run a camera in there to give me the condition of my piping that leads from my house to the city sewage. He gave me a report on the condition of the line and determined that I needed a new line because it is old. I spent about $180. He was on time and recommended what needed to be done.
Description of Work: I used the services of John Moore Plumbing about a couple of months ago to restore and repair the line going out to the city service. They also unclogged a drain outside because it was backing up in the guest bathroom toilet. So, they had to clear the main line coming out of the house. The plumber ran a line through it to clear it.

Electricians were prompt and worked diligently all day; however, one of the workers (apparent new hire) left without notice (to me or head worker) approx. 5 PM apparently because he thought the day should be over even though the job wasn't quite finished. Apparently he called and had someone pick him up since he arrived in the same vehicle with the head guy that morning. Also, the assistant (new hire mentioned above) stepped through the ceiling while up in the attic. He wasn't hurt but left a huge hole over the washing machine. We made arrangements with the company to replace a bent shower curtain rod (of which we haven't rec'd the check yet to date) and repair the hole in the ceiling. We will need to trim out the fuse box since the hole was cut larger than the box, and cleanup wasn't taken care of very well. Although the day had some mishaps, we do feel that the electricians knew their trade. Charges were expensive (esp. for the GFCI's) but we did feel safer that night with all the wired smoke alarms. Different workers from John Moore came on 1/20/11 and repaired the hole in the ceiling. They were very good workers, completed the job in a few hours, and cleaned up very well. This was done at no charge to us. Communication with the company has been efficient.

I called John Moore Services to have them check out a loud rattling coming from my HVAC system in my attic. The sound was keeping me and my fiancee up at night it was so bad. I called on a Friday thinking I would not see someone till Monday. To my delight, they sent someone out first thing on Sunday. The tech quickly diagnosed it was a pipe that was rattling against the blower. He put some rubber around the pipe and that was that. I asked him what the charge would be and he said "not a thing!" Wow! I was so impressed, I told him to perform a safety check on my unit so that I could give them more business right on the spot. I will definitely use John Moore Services in the future!

They showed up on time, contacted me to let me know they were on their way, but they have now contacted 3 times since I told them they were not getting the job. Each time I've told them they weren't getting the job because they were over $1000 higher than the other companies I had contacted.
Description of Work: I had them come out for an estimate - I needed a deck mounted bathtub faucet installed, kitchen sink & faucet replaced. I had all of the needed material - faucets, sink, valves, etc. The other plumbing companies had quoted me prices of $620 and $625. John Moore said it would be $1699!!!!! They couldn't give me any reason why it was a grand higher than the other two services. They didn't get the job.

Took advantage of my wife, who received the original service call, with a massively inflated service estimate. Originally charged me $430. We had a great experience with John Moore. I will DEFINITELY use them again. 1- They gave a service window and arrived within the window. 2- The serviceman put on blue paper booties each time he came inside my house. I really appreciated this little detail, as we have new, lightly colored carpet. 3- The serviceman was very careful each time he opened my front door to close it without slamming. The door sticks, and this was a great feat. 4- The price I paid came from a pre-determined list. We discussed my service needs, and he opened a preprinted, laminated book to point at the price for my described service. He did some extra work under the sink to get the disposal installed, but the price remained the same. I really appreciated the knowledge that this was the same price everyone gets. 5- Apart from the details listed above, the serviceman was clean-cut and friendly. He did his work in a professional way, shook my hand, and headed on about his business. They have a wide range of offered services, and I will use them again as we have other household needs. Thank you very much!

My experience was excellent. I called John Moore Services in the morning (I was actually referred to them by another company that was unable to do the work that day, they referred to a special that John Moore was running on drain clearing), and they offered me several 3-hour appointment windows for the same day. I selected an 11am-2pm window. I was told that I would receive two calls, one to confirm my appointment, and another when the techician was 30-45 minutes away (very helpful so that I did not have to be home during the full 3-hour window). I received the first (confirmation) call shortly thereafter. At noon, I received another call letting me know that they were still waiting for a technician to be available, which I appreciated so that I knew that I was still on their "active" list (as opposed to possibly falling through the cracks). I received the "technician is on his way" call shortly before 1pm. The technician (Jose) arrived at my house within the 30-45 minute window stated. I asked him if the "special" price would be applicable to my job, and he stated that the price was simply for snaking the drain, which was all I wanted him to do. He snaked the drain quickly and cleared the clog, and then asked me to perform several tests (flushing all of the toilets, filling/draining the washing machine) to ensure that the line was completely clear before he left. The "special" price was honored as discussed. He also told me about the likely cause of the clog (which would require a more extensive repair), but did not try to push any additional work on me. He provided an estimate for the additional work at my request.
Description of Work: The sewer line in my backyard was clogged, so a technician came out and "snaked" the pipe.

Our A/C unit stopped working during the night. The next morning I started contacting companies and John Moore Services was the first that could send an technician out the same day. When calling it sounded like I was speaking to someone in a call center so I asked specifically if they were located locally in Bryan or College Station and the operator replied yes we are a local company. I set up the appointment. The next technician would be out between 11 and 2. This was great. Beginning around 11 I started receiving phone updates on an hourly schedule that the next available technician would be sent to my home. The third call that I received at 2 pm said that the technicians were running late but as soon as one was available that they would be sent to the College Station area. This made me curious so I returned the call to find out that John Moore Services is located in Houston and that the technicians have to travel to College Station. I have been through this with another company. Once the technician arrives and diagnosis the problem then the have to go back to Houston to get the part if it is not on the truck (which it usually is not). I could not wait a week or more as I did the last time so I canceled the appointment and began my search again. I found a local A/C company that could make it the same day Dr. KOOL. Russell (Dr. KOOL) is a great local Heating/AC alternative. I will say that John Moore Services does have great customer contact, but they were deceitful in that they represented themselves as being local when they were not. I can not speak to their actual service quality or price as I terminated my appointment with them before the service was rendered.

I made an evening appointment with a window from 5-8pm. I waited at the empty house with my toddler for 3 hours and John Moore never showed up. I called to find out what was going on and no one could tell me, but they said it was too late to send a technician at that point. I rescheduled the appointment for the next day, and then thought better of it and called the next day to cancel. The plumber showed up anyway and told me there was a note in my file that said "angry customer." He explained that my call was dispatched and the plumber it was dispatched to went off duty instead of coming to my house. They never offered any discounts or apologies, so I elected not to use them, nor will I ever call them again.
Description of Work: None, because they didn't show up for the scheduled appointment.

Wow, these people are amazing. My A/C went out on Friday Afternoon in 100 degree heat. I called around and the soonest I could find someone to come out and repair it was Tuesday. I called around some more and found John Moore Services. They told me they could make it out that day sometime after 5:00. The customer service is excellent. Someone kept calling every hour to let me know they had not forgotten about us and they would be out to fix it. They made it out at 9:30 and the service repair man was great. He took a look at it and knew exactly what was wrong with the unit. I have had this unit serviced two other times this summer and this is the third time someone has had to come out and fix it. The repair man Gus was very courteous and knowledgeable. It was worth every penny. The A/C unit is cooling the best it has all summer. I will only use John Moore Services for my A/C needs from now on and when the time comes to replace the unit they will have my business.

We recently bought a house, so we wanted to make sure the A/C was in good working order. We decided to hire this company because they have a good rating on the BBB website (this is before we discovered Angie's List). The whole situation was sketchy from the beginning. I submitted an online request for service but did not receive a response. I should have taken that as a sign, but I did not. Instead, I called the company and scheduled an appointment for someone to come out to work on our A/C. We're not even sure that the guy that came out did all the work listed above. He didn't explain or show us what he was doing, and he kept trying to sell us extra products (some sort of drain alarm system in case of leaking water and extra freon). Our home was built in 2006, by the way, so the A/C system is not particularly old in our opinion. The guy also kept trying to tell us about his "friend's" A/C company and how they were cheaper than John Moore and that we could get a "special deal." It made us very uncomfortable that he was trying to sell us on a company he didn't work for. When we asked the name of his friend's company, he told us he'd give his friend our contact information. Very sketchy. Luckily, we haven't received any calls from the "friend." Anyway, we were blown away by the high price tag and lack of professionalism, especially since we aren't even sure what exactly was done. I know that we shouldn't make a judgment on an entire company based on one rogue worker, but it's hard to trust a company that lets such people work for them. Next time we need A/C work, we'll go with someone with great reports on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Had condensor and evaporator coil cleaned. Also had drain line cleared...at least that's what the receipt says...
