Very, very, very disappointed. John Moore has been our go to service company for years. We have been a loyal customer and have spent thousands of dollars contracting their services and recommending them to friends and neighbors. That is no longer the case. We called John Moore to replace a malfunctioning electrical outlet a few months ago. They did not quote a price for repair they just began repairing the issue. They billed my credit card twice for the service call. When I called to request the overcharge be credited back it took 2 months to receive the credit. They and quot;apologized for the inconvenienceand quot; and said they would mail a $75 customer loyalty card which I never received. The last straw came this past week. Our AC went out and we called John Moore. They gave us a 3 hour window that evening for when a technician would be out. When they did not show up or even call during the specified window I called to get an estimate of when the technician would be out. I was told they would be out and quot;sometime that night.and quot; Another hour passed with no update so I called again. They decided to cancel my service call as no technician was available. Again I received apologies and and quot;sorry for the inconvenience.and quot; It is sad to see a company fall so far from where they were. We had no second thoughts about calling John Moore or recommending them to others in the past. We will never use them again. I'm sure the company will offer the standard and quot; we apologizeand quot; and and quot;we are sorryand quot; rebuttal to this review. They need to spend more time resolving their internal issues vs apologizing.
Description of Work: John Moore has done electrical, plumbing and HVAC work for us.

Dear customer, Thank you for taking the time to submit feedback about your experiences. Upon reading your comments and investigating the concerns you raised, we too were very disappointed that one of our customers was treated in this manner. We understand that we have many competitors in the marketplace and that we can only succeed by ensuring that we place a high value on our customers and treat them accordingly. We also understand that a verbal apology does not resolve the problems you have encountered. Please contact our Customer Service department and ask for me directly and I will work with you to take actions to resolve your concerns and prove that our customers are very important to us. Thank you, Tom Cartledge Customer Care Manager

OK we did have a warranty on the water heater installation and John Moore honored it. We had no water pressure on the hot water only all over the house. I called early in the day and they gave me a "same day" appointment between 11 and 2 and said they would try to be there sooner if possible since I called so early. I got 1 follow up call at around 12:30 stating that they were still trying to make my 2 pm appointment time. At 2 I called them and they kept me on hold for 10 minutes then the line hung up. Called back and waited another 5+ minutes only to be told that the Technician tried to call to advise that he was on the way but that I didn't answer. I told them that was because I was on hold with them (John Moore)! Arghhh! Anyway, the Tech did show up and fixed the problem in short order and there was no charge. I honestly don't know if we will use then again or not. I think every plumber is high cost and John Moore seems to hold is reputation highly so maybe service would be more dependable.
Description of Work: Service call because we had no hot water pressure in the house. The Tech advised that is was due to the extra device we bought when the water heater was installed. (It is supposed to alert us if the heater has a leak.) So far our $100+ investment has only caused us problems rather than doing its job.

We discovered we had no hot water on Dec 23rd and were expecting Christmas visitiors so we called John Moore because they work 24/7. They came out promptly and charged a $250 trip charge which applied to the cost of the installation if we let them install a new water heater. They gave us 3 bids the lowest of which was over $2,200. We felt we had no choice given the holiday, our original investment, etc. The work was done promptly and with the sale of yet another device "you should not do without" for another $150. We feel the charges were too high but the job was done.
Description of Work: We had no hot water and were told we needed a new water heater. With a $250 service call if we didn't use them, we chose to have them install the water heater.

By coincidence after the house was sold but before I moved out, one of the other fawcets started a small leak and I decided to fix it myself. The plumming supply store charged $15 for the cartride and I fixed it in 20 minutes. I called John Moore to complain and they said that was a normal charge!$400 for 15 min work and a $15 part. I'm in the wrong business. No more John Moore!
Description of Work: Had a small leak in bathroom fawcet. Trying to sell house and needed it fixed. Plumber came out and was polite and gave me a free estimate of $399.99 to fix. I said OK and it was fixed in about 15 minutes with a fawcet cartride for a Moen fawcet. I thought the cartridge must have been expensive.

We were having an over the stove microwave installed and needed a dedicated curcuit installed. Because of the 2nd story above the kitchen, we had already been told (from two other electricians) that running wires through the attic and down to the kitchen would be nearly impossible. We essentially had to run a line outside directly from the breaker panel into the kitchen. So I already had an idea of what needed to be done. The other electricians suggested noninvassive routes for the new wiring (running a wire on the side of the house and coming into the kitchen through the hollow space above the cabinets and dropping an outlet from there), so that's what I was expecting from John Moore. Wrong! This guy said he would HAVE to tear though the sheetrock under our cabinets and then we would be responsible for replacing the sheetrock after he was done. Are you kidding me?! Tear through sheetrock and not even replace it? I asked him about going over the cabinets and he said it would be too hard because he couldn't see the wiring. Considering two other electricians already said they could do the work with no Sheetrock damage, I wasn't buying it. He seemed inexperienced. He then proceeded to quote me $950 and that's a and quot;discountand quot; from the $1200 it should have been. What a joke! I guess they pay for all those adds you see on TV by robbing customers who actually pay their outlandish prices. I went with a other electrician. Cost $300 -- and no Sheetrock damage. These guys are a joke. I will never use their services. I should have looked at their reviews before I even had them give me an estimate.

At John Moore Services, we understand that companies provide lesser quotes for the same service. That is one reason we never charge a trip fee and all of our estimates are free. Additionally, there are many factors that go into pricing. Employee benefits, insurance and training just to name a few. John Moore Services has been providing service in Houston since 1964 and we have over 500,000 satisfied customers. During that time John Moore has won several prestigious awards for service excellence...the most recent award is the 2012 Consumer's Choice Award. The plumber showed up 5 to 7 hours late without even letting us know about running late.My wife called at 3PM and the lady replied he was on schedule because it was 2 to 5 when she called.but he was way off on time. Thanks for listening to my dissatisfaction with the plumber
Description of Work: Left message on 6/3/2012 they called back that night at 930PM and said they could come the next day between between 2PM and PM.The lady said we would get 2 phone calls, one when he was on his way and one when he got close. We were home all day never recieved a call at all.At 930PM the door bell rung.I answered the door and it was John Moore,I told him we never got any calls from him,he replied he didnt know anything about calling. The lady that called us said it was policy. We went ahead and let him clean the line out.Tried to talk to guy a little could tell he wasnt in such a great mood.Probably because it was so late.was here about 10 minutes. What a experience.

I quit using them because they were too expensive and they kept coming out every month. I didn't need them to come out every month. They wanted to spray inside my house and I didn't need that unnecessary poison in my house. They would leave a phone message saying they would be out that day but I may not have been home that day. If I would have known when they were coming that would be good but there was a lack of communication. I will not use them again in the future.

Overall the work was done good. Just too darn expensive. The installation cost more than the top of the line faucet. I am considering not using them for anything. This firm has been in business a long time but they are starting to act like ARS. ARS bought Crown Plumbing Services and it went downhill from there. John Moore must have gotten some of their service people. It was like they were getting a commission for selling me the part.
Description of Work: I have an annual contract with John Moore for my A/C. I knew they did plumbing as well so I contacted them. I ONLY wanted a new kitchen faucet installed. I was quoted $100 to $200. The job took about 1-2 hours. In the middle of the job, the plumber informed me that I needed 2 new emergency cut-off valves. I had already purchased 2 at Lowes but the plumber informed me that these would not work and he just happened to have 2 on his truck. Unless the valves were gold plated, I could not see how they would cost $189 each installed. In order to install the new faucet, they had to have known that new emergency cut off valves were required. And the valves looked just like the ones I had purchased for $5.00 each. I felt that I was taken advantage of and requested a refund of some of my payment. My wife talked to them but did not get my money back. I am in dispute with them and have notified American Express.

It did not "go" because we didn't use them.
Description of Work: We got a price quote from John Moore about replacing a URD and their quote was way above what other electricians quoted for the same work. Our friend, an electrician in another city, told us that aluminum could be used that would be cheaper. John Moore only uses copper, which is way more expensive. Needless to say, we will NEVER use John Moore for ANYTHING EVER.

Dear customer, Please accept our apology that you were not pleased with the quote you received from John Moore. We understand that it may be possible, in some cases, to get a cheaper quote from other companies. In this particular situation, we quoted this job with copper wire because it is a superior product when compared to aluminum wire. Additionally, we also offer industry leading warranties on our electrical work. Due to it's superior performance, we typically quote these type of jobs using copper wire, however, if our customers prefer aluminum, we can adjust our warranty and quote to meet those needs. We appreciate you taking the time to discuss your concerns with our Electrical Department Manager. If there is anything else that we can do for you, please let us know. Thank you

They have been very deceptive and extremely dishonest with us. They say that they have completed the work and even had an inspection done. I called the city and they told me that no inspection had done. I've already reported their license to the attorney general. This company has given us a very bad experience. I'm not happy with the work that has supposedly been completed. My manufacturers warranty may not even be good because of improper installation, so the manufacturer can't be held responsible.

An assessment was done by the workers, supplies were purchased and the work began on a Tuesday at 10 AM. New line installation began and was done to the point of having to make certain connections to minimize time without running water. Minimal invasive cuts into wallboard and ceilings were performed decreasing the amount of sheetrock repair that was necessary. Steps necessary to keep debris to a minimum were taken and cleanup was done before departing every day. All services were performed by a licensed plumber and apprentice and completed on Friday at 5 PM. Services were performed in the time quoted and we were without water for 1/2 day totally and without hot water for 1/2 day. I recommend this company for any plumbing needs for the quality and consistency of thier work. The price is higher, but I am of the opinion that least is not always the best.
Description of Work: I had the pipes in my home completely replaced. The old galvanized pipes were abandoned and new PEX lines were run. Replacement included the feed line into the home from ground level, the pipes, feedlines and vales to all water outlets to include washer, hot water sinks and basins in baths rooms, shower and bath, wet bar and refrigerator supplies.

On the positive side, they came out promptly. The water had backed up into the house and they got dryers out to help the issue. I felt like their price was pretty high. After they fixed the pipe, they just left a huge dirt mound covering the pipe. They said the dirt pile would settle down after a couple months, but it didn't. I gave it a couple months, but it still didn't look good. I called them back about the problem, and they said they didn't do landscaping. They told me I should have called earlier, but at first they told me I should wait! I feel like their customer follow-up should have been better. The workers were professional, but I don't believe the manager handled the situation professionally.

The work was performed today, 2/23/12 by an inexperienced "Electrician" named David. He didn't even bid the job. He was slow, but respectful. He borrowed our tools, ladders, mounting screws and caulk because he showed up unprepared to do the job in it's entirety. He did the entire job in under 6 hrs. The lights are working now and I have learned a large lesson. I even had to provide this Tech with a trashbag so he would clean his mess up properly.
Description of Work: John Moore Electrician came to my home on 2/21/12 to relocate 2 exterior flood lights and 1 aux. light that entailed a need for approx. 28' of trenching to place 1/2" conduit with new wire and attach the 3 lights to poles that I installed myself. Maximum need of materials was 30' of 1/2" conduit, 8 elbows 10 unions and 2 guats. I even had existing conduit they could use if needed. My husband and I were looking at about $80.00 in materials and 6 labor hours of a John Moore Employee. The Electrian named Wayne overlooked the job and came to me with a 1 X 2 piece of paper with $2246 written on it. I asked him if he really wanted to hand me a bid that high for a job that wouldn't have cost my husband and I over $100 if we had done the work ourselves. I called John Moore ofc. to report what had just happened and they sent another "lead" Electrician out name Jimea to "reassess" the job scope. Jimea saw the job to be approx. $750, not $2246! He provided a bid sheet with the breakdown of all services and mat'ls to be used. We took that lesser bid, however, I feel that "price-gouging" occurred on the first bid. I will not utilize John Moore Services again just on principle, nor would I ever recommend them to my friends and family.

Not good. No diagnosis made by John Moore
Description of Work: We called John Moore because we went into our hall bathroom and saw that the floor was flooded. We cleaned it up and decided to call a plumber because we knew this might happen again. We called John Moore. The man who showed up at the door, was unexpected. They said on the phone they would call 30 min before they came, we never got that call. He also checked if we had a water leak, found we did not have one. He kept looking for our sewer drainage pipe and could not find it. He asked us if we knew where it was, how would we know. He then asked to see the water heaters. I stated they were in the attic. He went up there and said, " YEP, I can see where you DO have a problem!" HE stated these water heaters were over 10 years old and needed to be replaced right away. I asked if this was the problem for the flooding in the bathroom, he said no, not at all. He did not know what the problem was and could not find an answer for that. He went outside to the van, and after about literally 45 minutes later, knocked on the door and gave us a quote sheet that compared three water heater installation prices, the prices started at $3795. He stated the one costing $4995 was the best deal. Anyhow, we were not charged for him looking around and not finding anything and then telling us our water heaters were old. Thank goodness. A few weeks later, the problem was more severe and the hall bath and master bath flooded at this point. We called Red Lion Plumbers, they came in a jiffy from spring branch to spring area, diagnosed the problem, found the sewer drainage pipe, saw we had been flushing tons of stuff that we shouldn't have, we asked them to look at our water heaters to give us a second opinion. They did in fact agree they needed to be replaced, they came the very next day, replaced two water heaters and we paid $2195 for two days of service, a removal of a toilet and a new seal placement, and alot of professionalism. I believe it was a father/son duo, they did fantastic.

I just explained it all above. The plumber was professional and couteous. we are well satisfied with the work done. The prices are exhorbatant.
Description of Work: The work was done excellently. The cost to replace two flappers, reseat, and cault each of two toilets was extremely expensive. I complained to the company saying what I have just said. No explanation for costs was given, but they sent me a $100 off next work done before Dec. 31, 2012. That would still make the costs excessive for a job like this.

They were very responsive and offer a free quote. The plumber they sent was very knowledgeable. He worked efficiently and did a good job. On top of it all, he was a nice guy. I like using John Moore Plumbing because they have different specialists for each job.
Description of Work: I hired them to unclog our kitchen sink.
