They aren't cheap, but the guys who came were very personable and they were very kind. They changed some light bulbs which required ladders. I'm 74 so I really appreciated their assistance.

I was having problems with lights dimming and called for an electrical check. The rep was prompt and spent several minutes checking out possible causes. I was given some options with details as to what to expect from each one. I did not have the money for such a large repair, but was given a opportunity for financing. The project was completed in a timely manner and the agents took time to answer all my questions and show me how the new box worked. I have used John Moore for several years for different repairs and find them to be the best overall professionals. All of the employees, from the nice ladies that answer the phone to the agents who perform the work, are very service minded and go out of their way to do all they can to do the best job possible.

We were pleased with their temporary fix. We didn't use them to replace the unit though because they were twice as expensive as other estimates we got. They wanted to sell us a whole new furnace for $4,000. They were also high pressure sales.

The knob used to face up, but now it's reversed. I wonder why they coulnd't fix it so it was in the original position. They didn't inform me that this would be a change either. I was not too happy with a furnace installation they did in August/October because I had to repeatedly call them for the instructional booklet on the unit. I called a number of times and they never sent it out. They are prompt with arriving on time though. It was just this one incidnet. I had to figure it out myself. I have a standing account with them so they have payment options on big ticket items which is nice.

We had them come and we didn't have them do any work because the estimate was astronomical. It was hundreds of hundreds of dollars. As it turned out, it was a pipe that was not connected to the city sewer. We took care of it ourselves.

Everything was virtually impossible with them. I could not get clear answers. I called to schedule an appointment, but the appointment got shifted around a couple of times. Fortunately, I work from home so it wasn't that big of a deal. When they came out, they said they couldn't give me an estimate. They said they could only give me a minimum price, no maximum price. I didn't like the idea that the price could be as high $4,000 at any moment because they were talking about breaking a wall and going under the house. I ended up getting the job done with another provider for just $75.

An unexpected issue came up with our main breaker to our home on Saturday. We were in need an electrician so I called John Moore around 3:00 pm on Saturday to ask if it would be possible for someone to come out that day. They apologized that they didn't have any appointments available for Saturday but, could schedule an appointment for Sunday between the hours of 1pm - 5pm. I agreed with the time frame, I was then asked at that time for my credit card number to secure the appointment. I was told the overtime rate for a weekend call would be $69.00. At no point did they say they would be charging my credit card right then for an appointment that was to happen the following day. I received a call on Sunday morning at 10:00 am confirming that I still needed an electrician, which we still did. The dispatcher said they just had an electrician become available sooner than the original time frame. He would be coming from Galveston and the time frame was now 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. At 3:40 pm I called to see what the status was of the electrician. The dispatcher put me on hold and came back to tell me that the electrician was wrapping up his current job and would call me when he was in route. At 4:04 pm, I received a call from a dispatcher to let me know that the electrician would not be coming because his truck had broken down in League City. I received another call at 4:23 pm from the same dispatcher that called me at 10:00 am to let me know that the electrician would not be able to make it due to his truck breaking down and wanted to reschedule the appointment for Monday between 8:00 am -10:00 am. I informed her that both my husband and I worked, which was one of the reasons we were willing to pay the extra $20 for a weekend call. I continued to inform the dispatcher that we would not be rescheduling the appointment due to their extremely horrible customer service. We were held "hostage" all day long waiting for someone who was supposedly going to show up even earlier than originally scheduled and never showed up! Considering the late hour, I doubt that his truck was broken down, more like it was quitting time. According to the dispatcher, his 1st appointment that started at 8:30 am took much longer than expected. If that is the case, then SOMEONE from John Moore should have been monitoring their technician's progress on this 1st appointment so that they could have sent someone else out to our house to deal with our issue, and not keep us ?hostage? all day long. Had they monitored their electrician's progress, and called me earlier to apologize that it wasn't going to happen, I might have not been so irritated with them. Absolutely HORRIBLE way to treat a customer, no excuses. The other issue I have with them now is that they not only did not perform any type of service but, still charged my credit card for a trip charge of $69.00. No business should charge any customer a fee until you arrive at their door, no exceptions. I was also informed this morning by John Moore that it would be 7-10 days before I would see the credit on my credit card. I questioned them as to why they would even charge my credit card when they certainly did not do ANYTHING to receive $69.00. I was told that was how they handled service calls. I told them that was BAD BUSINESS on their part to even think of charging a customer for anything prior to actually SHOWING UP. I have made my credit card aware of the situation, which I should not have had to do. I will NEVER recommend John Moore for any type of service in the future, and will certainly be using another company to come take a look at our breaker issue. It is no wonder they have to advertise so heavily on our local TV stations, with their atrocious overall rating they need to take advantage of every customer that makes the huge mistake of calling them like I did!

Description of Work: John Moore Home Services completely replaced my air conditioning system (heat & cooling). They first removed the old system, were prompt, professional, and installed my new a/c system in about nine hours. They don't do good work and bend you over the barrel in prices.When I told him that I wasn't interested, the tech got huffy immediately. His attitude changed. It wasn't professional at all.
Description of Work: I had them install a part on the A/C and it took less and than an hour to do the work -- they charged me $600. Recently they estimated a compressor unit as $10,000 over another company's bid.

Great first time experience with this company! The dispatchers worked with me to get a plumber out at a time that was convenient for my schedule, and were good about calling me ahead of time to confirm when the plumber was on his way. The plumber arrived on time and was very nice and professional. Their guys all wear shoe protectors on their feet to protect your carpet and they all wear a uniform and look presentable. He quickly diagnosed the problem for our leaky toilet and patiently explained the issues to me and then again to my husband who was on the phone. John Moore Services may be more expensive than some of the other plumbing/electrical companies I have used in the past. But, they are more organized, knowledgeable and professional. So you get what you pay for. I have had two very knowledgeable technicians, who were great. The time and effort they saved my husband from having to perform the repairs made it worth it to us. I will definitely be using this company again in the future!

Far too many problems to list! Let's just say we had Bradbury Bros. come and they ended up having to RE-DO all the work that your company did. Recently had electrician to our home after we had a lightning strike in our backyard...found out that ALL our outdoor outlets that were replaced by YOU were NOT GFI outdoor outlets! This company may have numerous ads & clever jingles, but the focus should really be their service... WE WILL NOT "CALL JOHN" FOR ANY PROBLEMS AND OUR MANY FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS WON'T EITHER.

Service Technician made numerous misleading claims. He was careful to not promise anything, but NOTHING he said was true. No rebate from power company. No 0% financing on purchase. No sizable reduction in monthly power bill. No tax break on my next tax return. Well, I don't really know about that last one yet... but I'll come back to it. Installers showed up promptly the next day to do the installation... and then had to sit around for hours waiting for a part to be delivered to them because it wasn't on their truck. Otherwise, I had no problems with the installers. Bill came from a financial company with absolutely no wording on it to connect this bill to John Moore or even to the item being purchased. I called to find out who they were and then paid promptly. Being unhappy about the misleading claims AND that I had no documentation assuming that I might possibly get a break on my tax return next year, I called John Moore. I got apologies and I was told somebody would call back. Never happened. Called again a couple of weeks later with same results. Called a third time after two more weeks and got an EXTREMELY basic invoice emailed to me, but still never got a return call. John Moore obviously only cares about making big sales and will do whatever they have to do to do so. Once they have your money, you are dead to them. I wouldn't recommend them even to change a light bulb.

Add me to legion of those ripped off by John Moore. Called about the much-advertised $69 drain cleaning special and we were told line had to be directly accessible -- which it was. But plumber who came out said no, it had to be an EXTERNAL clean-out and this would require him to remove a P-trap to snake the line -- as if removing P-trap were delicate surgical operation, not a simple two-minute procedure. He then quoted a take it-or leave-it price FIVE TIMES higher than the original. We had guests staying so rather than prolong their inconvenience I very reluctantly agreed (and even now wish I hadn't). Sure enough, he wasn't on the job more than 20 minutes. Grabbed the money and ran. Yes, I raised concerns about misleading business practices to John Moore (via the and quot;officialand quot; web site) and here's the response I received: NOTHING AT ALL. Beware, beware.

Water line was replaced and leak was stopped. But the yard was destroyed and left in terrible condition. I realize that the work involved excavating and expected some damage. But we were told they would make efforts to save plants and the lawn. All plants in the vicinity they worked in are dead, grass is dead. Even plants that weren't near where any work was done are dead due to trampling. Dirt was piled up on top of grass that was at the time still in good condition. Most concerning is the fact that the in-ground sprinkler system was damaged and is no longer functioning. Clearly there was no attempt to repair it or even test if it worked after they finished the work. That means an additional out of pocket expense for us to get that repaired. We were told the work would be done in one day. For the most part it was but they were unable to get a city inspector so could not fill in the trenches. That is understandable, but they did nothing to cover the excavated areas over the weekend - a weekend with heavy rains forecast. So, we ended up with a huge muddy mess all over the street. The first technician who came out to inspect the work was extremely professional and seemed on top of things. We were impressed at that point. Not at all impressed with the quality of the work that was actually done, or the guys who did it. They need to get competent supervisors on site to maintain quality. ***** To be fair, I have to update this review. John Moore did eventually respond and sent out a quality inspector to review the work done. He was able to repair our sprinkler system the same day. There was not much he could do about the plants and grass, but did he make an effort to level the remaining dirt and fertilize the grass that was remaining.

Had a complete new central A/C system installed by John Moore Services 3 years ago (that installation was a nightmare also and there are still unfinished installation issues from that installation). On Sat., July 19th I called them because the condenser motor had gotten really loud and the entire condenser unit was vibrating like crazy. A tech (Steven) came out that afternoon, told me the unit needed a new hard start kit and fan motor, but the motor wouldn't be covered under the warranty till it completely dies. The parts warehouse was closed Saturday so he was going to call me Monday to set up repairs and see if he could get me a fan under the warranty. I gave him a week, till July 28th then called him. He said he needed the model number, which I texted to him, to find out about the fan being covered under warranty. About 2-3 hours later, the fan quit working so I called John Moore back. They asked who my first tech was, I told them Steven and they said he was out on vacation. They sent another tech (I don't recall his name) who seemingly knew nothing. He had to call someone every 5 minutes to find out what to do next. He tried moving the fan blades up and down the motor shaft for about an hour to try to solve the problem with no luck. At that point he stuck a screwdriver through the condenser units grates and shoved the fan blade with the screwdriver, getting it turning again. At that point, he said he couldn't do anything about it under our warranty because it was running fine. On August 4th the fan completely quit again and a third tech (Keith, our saviour) was sent out. Right off, he said the fan was toast, that the bearings in it were shot and that it was covered under our 10 year P&L warranty but it would be Monday before he could get replacement parts due to the warehouse being closed on Saturday. He said everything the previous 2 techs had told me was completely wrong and they were most likely seasonal techs hired for the Summer load. Keith said if a unit isn't running right, even if it is running, the warranty covers repairs. After a very hot two days without AC on Monday Keith had it fixed. It really upsets me that I try to be proactive and call them when the condenser unit outside became extremely noisy (when it was completely quiet before) to try to avoid having any time in the Summer without AC and I just got the run around for three weeks and then had to spend an entire weekend without AC. I think it was a warranty thing. If I was paying for the repair it probably would have been fixed the Monday after the first time I called them on July 19th.

First visit to spray came and went. No one showed up. After 4 phone calls, I was told a tech would be at my home in 2 days. Yes, he sprayed but the bugs never went away. Then I received a bill for 270.63. It took John Moore 2 full weeks to credit my account and apologize for the mistake. Second visit to spray came and went. Again, tech didn't bother showing up. I contacted the office on the scheduled day of service and they apologized for the mix up and said a tech would be at my home the next day. He was late. After 3 weeks, I still noticed significant pest activity. It's like the roaches were laughing at me. I called the office and spoke with Henry, who apologized and offered to send a tech to respray (free of charge) Great! When the tech arrived, he actually scolded me for calling him to respray, telling me that my problem was our doggy door. I asked how the bugs were even strong enough to get through the 3 flap doggy door if the outside of my home was being treated, much less the roaches partying in the bathroom, kitchen and bedrooms-------This after 2 visits! He and quot;resprayedand quot; and assured me the problem would be solved. Not even close. Last month, I received a bill for $55. I immediately called the billing department and spoke with Catherine. She told me she would get to the bottom of the issue and call me back (7/10) She never called. I called and left messages with her and she never called. (7/18, 7/19) She never called back. Then, I received another bill for $55 last week. (8/8) I called Catherine again (8/8) and she finally called me back. (8/13) She still had no idea why I was receiving a bill. She offered to find out why and call me back. I told her I would prefer to be put on hold, as she never calls me back. After waiting for about 5 minutes, she still had no idea what was going on and said, and quot;I will speak with my supervisor and I'm PRETTY SURE we can credit your account.and quot; Pretty sure? I thanked her for her time and hung up. Ever persistent, I called customer care and spoke with Jessica, who did a great job of patronizing me. She offered to transfer me to Catherine to figure out the problem and I asked her to please not transfer me to Catherine, or anyone else. I asked her to please make a note in my account that she spoke with me and I am requesting that no one from John Moore step foot in my home again, even though there are 2 visits remaining in the contract (paid in full). She put me on hold and Sam (?) picked up wanting to know how he could help me. When I told him to please transfer me back to Jessica, that I was not going to tell the story again, he laughed and said, and quot;I don't mean to be rude, but if you want this problem solved you're going to have to talk to me.and quot; When I told him I simply wanted to be transferred back to Jessica to make sure she terminated the contract, he raised his voice and started talking over me. Description of Work: Initially hired to rid our attic of pests. While rep was in our home, he recommended I purchase an all inclusive package, which included every other month spraying for roaches, spiders, earwigs, silverfish, etc... Technician successfully removed pests from attic. Then everything went to heck in a hand basket.
