They did not try to up sell me. They were great. They arrived within their window. They did the service for the price they said they said they would charge. Granted if there was something else that would be potentially wrong that it would have to be a different charge. I would highly recommend them. Their price was reasonable and it was within their advertised information.

The guy came out and in seconds told us we needed a new AC system. I told him it was not that old. He thought it was old because of the outside housing. It ended up being the thermostat. He replaced it and they later did some plumbing under the house and fixed a leak. They were very expensive on that job. We will not use them again.
Description of Work: We had them come out to fix our air conditioning system. They did some plumbing work as well.

The guy left his tools and had to come back. They called and told me he was on the way. Everything was good except when he left his tools. Their employees are specialized so they have air conditioning, and heating guys. They have plumbing guys, and they have drain technicians that come out. The guy was great and had a 120 day warranty on the drain staying clear, I haven't had any problem since. There was a special going on, it $60.

Not good at all. Mr. Herd had to call the manufacturer and order the part. This was on Friday morning, and they said they would Fedx it out the same day, and I should receive it the next day. Well, it's Monday, and it has not arrived. I don't understand how a brand new hot water heater can go out in 3 years, and I've owned houses where the hot water heater last 15 to 17 years before they were replaced. This one I already have trouble with after only 3 years. It's a Rheem. Not a good product at all.
Description of Work: The electronic ignition on my Hot Water Heater does not work. The hot water heater your company put in 3 years ago, is still under warranty.

I called them and they sent out a slick talking young salesman, rather than an actual plumber. In my opinion he was in his job to try and oversell as much as he could, at the highest prices he could. He lied, saying work needed to be done in my home that really didn't. His end bill quote was $1,650 ? which included a $40 charge for a bottle of drain cleaner I could have purchased at a local store for a few dollars. I didn't buy it. I called a different plumber and they completed all the work I needed for only $450.

I wasn't happy with them. It actually worked two weeks after they put it in and it went off several times. They left the bunch of trash and loose stuff around in the attic. We had a hard time finding. They didn't show up on time. I would not use them again.
Description of Work: I used John Moore Services in July. They do everything. I mean they do all kinds of work. What happened was it one of our ac unit went out on the weekend and we didn't really have a choice and when we were going to get it done and it was during summer. They replaced the outside unit and replaced the condenser and coils and air handles upstairs and side.

We purchased the air conditioner from them with a service warranty. They give you the verbal assessment of what they can and cant do right away. They will be coming out to do routine servicing. We will use them again.

They came out right away when we called them. We just renewed our service warranty service with them. They will come out even on a weekend when you reach them. We will continue to use them.

After the job was done we noticed that our microwave and our dishwasher had blown out. Now that’s a very odd coincidence to have when someone’s been messing with your electricity. So later in the day someone calming to be an inspector came around and looked at the box outside and them we were forced to repair the two appliances. I did not like it at all. Don’t let those people in your house. They come with the car sales man “ you need this and you need that and we can do that”. no way they will come into my house again. This was awful. They came in here and put the hard use car salesman on us. I didn’t like their attitude and we had a couple of problem with the job. The crew that came wasn't professional.

They are real professional and I know exactly what I'm going to pay ahead of time. I thought the price was good because I had a couple of other service contractors and they were slightly higher. They gave me a 2 hour window and were here within an hour and a half. They are every professional. It's a good company. They did what I wanted them to do. They were prompt and courteous and knew exactly what he was doing. He came in, didn't replace the burner but he cleaned it started working again and it's been working ever since. Then they put a 90 day warranty on it.

The plumber was very professional. Very nice man. However, the cost was ridiculous! I've changed out toilets before and even if you have to replace the mounting flange, which he did, it's not that labor-intensive. I am now paralyzed and wheelchair-bound so I can no longer do projects like this. I just feel that John Moore's charging $1500 to replace a toilet is ridiculous. Through their website, I disputed the charges, but they never contacted us. Unless you have money to just flush down the toilet, don't use John Moore. (I've been a member of Angie's list for years and this is the first time I've written a review).

It did not go well, at all! AC unit was out, called John Moore and paid the $69 service call. Tech arrived on time and within service window. He said the capacitor was out and changed it. After he changed the capacitor he told me that was not the problem and that the condenser was out. He proceeded to tell me that I needed to replace the whole system and gave me three quotes ranging from $6500 - $8000. I felt like I was being lied to and pressured. There were no options offered for alternatives aside from whole new system. He reminded me that John Moore offers financing and kept asking me what was keeping me from agreeing to the new system. He would not give me a detailed estimate and told me I needed things like a new electrical cut off for the unit, when the circuit breaker is 15 feet away. He told me that I would not pass an safety inspection if I didn't do everything he was recommending. I told him I would not make a decision today and I was getting a second opinion. I called Air Tech of Houston, they came, out replaced the capacitor and had me back up and running for less than $300. Tech had one concern and he explained it fully and his recommended replacement is going to cost me less than $700. I know everyone out there has their own experience with repair people but my experience with John Moore was extremely disappointing and I can't see ever hiring them again. I'd also really like my $69 back!

Service was absolutely professional. TECH offered us three options to resolve issues. Once we made a decision, tech made the necessary repairs and was done in about an hour.

I am completely disgusted with John Moore. I have been a customer for many years, paid them thousands of dollars for plumbing and AC work, including $5K for a new unit 3 years ago. We’ve had issue after issue on this unit. Presently, I have no AC upstairs because after having them come out a month ago, saying it was an insect in our thermostat, charging me a trip fee that they weren’t supposed to, it still not working properly, then when they came again wanted to recharge the unit for over $700 (which my husband who knows about AC argued the point that Freon could not be contaminated without a leak and them agreeing to do it for free) did not solve the problem, then sent someone out a 3rd time who said it was the capacitor which we paid $150 for the warranteed part that costs $15 to be replaced and again did not solve the problem, then the 4th guy now says it’s the fan motor which is also a warranteed part will cost $1200 to replace but he’d give us a 50% discount to make it $600. I’ve asked other AC people and this part would be changed out by them for less than $300. The part itself is only $127. And after all this, I’m not sure this would solve the problem. If they had their way, we would have no spent $1500 to fix a waranteed AC only 3 years old. It’s like, let’s just try everything that can cost you money and eventually we might find the problem. If not, at least we can still get you to pay for us to guess. I have no faith in them anymore. To top it all off, everyone we have spoken to on the phone and in our house all said our warrantee was 5 years for parts and gave me the run around for a week to get a copy of the original paperwork, which states 10 years for all parts. Why lie about it at 3 years? Prepping for me to be conned at year 6 to replace the unit again or what? So, I have a hot house and have to find someone willing to work on a warranteed part on my AC that I can trust won’t do what John Moore did to us.

My HVAC was not cooling enough and John Moore was the second opinion I sought out. I had not used their services before and decided to give them a try. They were going to replace the condenser and coil and install a new air filtration system. The work was supposed to be all completed within 4-5 hours on July 20, 2016 for $10,800. It was one of the most unprofessional and incompetent experience I have encountered. The condenser was not installed properly. It took two days and six different technicians to complete the job. This was after I had talked to two different managers. Their reception staff were unresponsive and refused to transfer my call to a manager. One technician, after spending two hours and not figuring what the previous two technicians had done wrong 8 hours previously, said to me that the house was cooling down as the temperature had went down one degree. I told him that was because the sun was no longer out and the outside temperature had gone from 97 to 94 and a 10k system should not be keeping the house at 87. Another technician informed me that one of John Moore's motto is that they will make it right. They would not have to make anything right if they had done it right the first time. They did offer up to $200 for a hotel stay after I spoke to two different managers, a field supervisor, and six technicians. Before that, John Moore did not understand that I could not sleep in my house with the AC not working after spending over 10K for them to install it. They never installed the air filtration system and never informed me when it would be completed. I cancelled that job. They charged me a $70 service call charge which they said would be removed if services were provided. I am still waiting for that charge to be removed.

Someone came out and told us that it needed to be replaced for $6000. He said that it completely needed to be replaced because it was going to completely shut down any day. He said that he would get me a written quote when he returned. When he returned, I was told "Oh by the way, it's going to be $8000+because it was such an old system". We told him to leave and called someone else who told us that the John Moore guy completely disconnected the wiring of the air conditioner!!!! The new guy fixed all the wiring and replaced a small part all for $200. The air conditioner has been working ever since.

They take advantage of elderly, I would never use them again ever, ever, ever, anyway they came in didn't have anything written up I said I would need bowel cap and he said that would be 225 and I said what about the senior citizens discount, oh they don't issue them and what really kind of hurt me one person was sent but he didn't do the work he just quoted the price and then two other men showed up and only one person did the work and the rest was on their phones again they charged me two twenty five and when I told my husband about the whole situation well he said next time any bowel copper or anything about a house you don't call John Moore for nothing because you just go and get you a new commot and put it in he prefer to do it that way.

They are a great company. They let their son take over and he retired, and it worked out as well. It's still a good company. We called them because they were members of our church. I think his father started the company and then he and his wife are members of the church that we go to. They were good except for that wall situation where they kind of did something to the wall, but other than that, they were good. John Moore retired and his son took over and I think his son was just too young. It wasn't good there for a little while but now it's really good again. I think they finally sold the company but they keep John Moore.

Based on our experience we would not recommend this company. We requested bid to have existing outdoor fountain wired directly to breaker box...tech gave that bid PLUS two other bids we never requested. The average bids we had received was $500, John Moore bid $2,200....HUGE difference. We called company to discuss what actual bid was for fountain as other companies were so much less, did not want to speak to tech that came out as that was a joke. Gentleman we spoke to said bid he was looking at made no sense to him, he would be turning over to customer service...another joke. All they seemed to want to do is have us talk to tech that came out, which we had already told them we didn't want to deal with him. VERY, VERY disappointed in John Moore....couldn't get helped with minor issue, kinda scares you of what would happen if they actually did job and had issue. Customer Service leaves A LOT to be desired.

Description of Work: We just had them come out for an estimate but the amount was way too high so we went with another service provider that gave an estimate about a tenth of the cost. Provider was courteous and prompt but we could not go with the inflated estimate.
