Our experience with Jack's Carpet was truly awful. We ordered a carpet the first weekend in May. I talked to them a week or two later to check on the status and was told that the carpet was in the warehouse waiting to be bound. After that, I never heard from them again. Two months later, we began calling repeatedly to see what had happened. Everyone we spoke with was rude and unhelpful. If our particular sales person wasn't in the store, no one else could help us, and anytime I was told someone would call me back, no one ever would. The worst part was that no one expressed any concern. If I had not continued to call, no one there would have taken the initiative to figure out where our carpet was. The lack of customer service was unbelievable. Our carpet will finally be delivered tomorrow, over two months after it was ordered and our credit card was charged. We will never use Jack's Carpet again.
Description of Work: We ordered a piece of carpet to be bound into a 10 x 11 area rug.

They were fine, but they don't service our area anymore so we haven't used them since. The floors that they put in almost immediately there were problems with it but it really wasn't their fault, we had water problem. It did scratch really easily so I wasn't really happy with that.

First, the product is not shipped to a Jack's warehouse. Instead, the independent contractor installer shows up the tile distributor. My tile came from three different distributors, so the installer went to three different warehouses. Because of the time involved, he decided he didn't want the job. So no one showed up. They found another installer, so he only did floors. The walls need to be done before the floors, so he could not do the job. The third installer showed up the next day late in the morning because he had to go to three different warehouses. Next, it was a large job. It should have required two installers. There was only one. So what was promised as a three day job turned into six. I had to reschedule my glass measurement twice and finally help on the last two days in order to complete the job. Third, I had to change what I wanted because although I had already waited three weeks, the tile I wanted was still not available.. Fourth, the measurer/salesperson did not order enough tile. Apparently she missed an entire wall. The salesperson was not competent enough to be measuring materials. Not only is nothing computerized so they can accurately keep track of materials ordered, there is no standard worksheet to keep track of measurements and materials. I should have left during my initial price quote because the initial job quote was $4,500, then I wanted to add 4 square feet of mosaic and then the job jumped to $7,500. After a lot of back and forth, I'm sure the $7,500 was accurate and the $4,500 was not. But because every was scribbled on a Big Chief tablet, I believe I paid for materials I never received. The manager assured me I did not because he was not told to order them. But he didn't seem to understand her Big Chief tablet scribbles. Whole process was a nightmare. The installer did a great job and the bathroom looks great. But the whole process was an absolute nightmare. The whole organizational structure and process is moronic at best. And customer service is a joke.
Description of Work: Sold the tile for a bathroom remodel. Mosaic for the tub surround, marble for the vanity, and porcelain for the shower and floor. I did not realize the company uses independent contractors for all installs

After giving us an estimate they came back and tacked on another 1,500.00 for some under lament that they said was necessary. The wood flooring downstairs was installed just okay but the carpet up the stairs and in all the rooms was a nightmare. The carpet installer got so frustrated because he could not get a seam to look good he just packed up and left the job. We never made mention of the seam even though it looked bad because we did not know he was done. During his frustration he left the hot glue tray laying on the carpet in the hallway and melted the carpet. After numerous calls to Jacks the man in the commercial came out and said it was deplorable and would be replaced. Due to the fact that they could not match the existing carpet I was promised they would do a wood hallway and staircase. We have made numerous calls and threatened to hire an attorney and we have had absolutely no results. I would not let this company lay carpet or tile or wood or paper in my garage. The whole situation makes us furious. We spent a lot of money and did not get our moneys worth and were told by our salesman Tim Woernley that the company was in terrible financial trouble and he was trying his best to help us. WHAT A JOKE. Do not use that place for one thing....

I used them through a big deal on Angie's List. It went very well. I was very pleased. It was above expectations. They were very thorough in their measuring and in their helping me. When they came out and measured, it was a lot less than what the other people that I had come out had measured. That really cut my cost drastically; it was a big difference. I would definitely use them again in the future.

I was very comfortable with the sales guy. They were quick and they didn't seem to pressure you into buying and they did a price point in comparison to other companies.

It was great and they did a good job. They actually did the job in the day. I didn’t have a lot of time. They started early in the morning and they’d asked me at around 6 if I wanted them to stop and come back the next day, or just continue through the night till they finish. So I told them if they wanted to stay all night, I too would stay all night till they finish the job. 1.16 to 1.18. So I didn’t have to worry about that one day having people in the house. They were good. The floor wood is beautiful and they did a beautiful job. It was well worth the money that I spent on their services. I would probably use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Jack's Carpet – Galleria for installing hardwood floors.
I had shopped around many places for new tile to replace the existing (read: ugly) tile in my town home foyer and wanted to extend the tile into a carpeted back room that opened up to the outside. Many of the showrooms/warehouses around Houston were unorganized, dimly lit, or had pushy sales people. Unimpressed with many of them. Jack's Carpet showroom (on San Felipe) was clean, organized and had a lot of tile to choose from. The salespersons were friendly and helpful but not overly pushy or over-the-top. They answered all of my questions about the different types, sizes, grout, etc. I chose my tile and and less than a week later (at my convenience) met me at my home to measure. A week later the work was preformed. Two workers arrived at my home at 8:30 am and were gone at 5 pm when I arrived back home. The second day the workers returned at 8:30am and were finished with the work at 1pm. The tile is exactly what I wanted. There are many angles over the area that were tiled and all were cut / set excellently. The installers even cut the tile into smaller pieces to transition into the smaller tiled bathroom. A very nice touch. The work was slightly more expensive due to the removal of the existing tile. That being said, I probably could have gotten the work done for less money (especially if I had purchased the tile separately and hired an independent contractor) but I found the higher price was worth it for the quality of the tile, the experience at the show room (one stop shop for tile/installation) the speed of the installation and the quality of the work. Overall I am extremely pleased with Jack's Carpet and will definitely check with them for any of my future flooring needs.
Description of Work: Removed old tile in foyer/hallway and carpet in one room and replaced with new tile.
