I called on Friday, scheduled an appointment for Monday at 10am. At 10:09am I called the company only to find out that no one was coming out. I rearranged my schedule and no one from the company had the professional courtesy to contact me, I had to call them! When I asked why I was not contacted, I was told "the arborist (Josiah) had a tree emergency". I was annoyed no one had the professional courtesy to contact me or send someone else out. I demanded to speak to the owner, Desmond Allred and was told he was "out of the office." I attempted to contact other tree sevice companies only to find out they operate under several company names; i.e., Houston Tree Surgeons, Sugar Land Tree Service and others. After leaving them a 1 star review, they replied with vicious lies about what actually happened. Making up lies to cover up their incompetence and unprofessionalism. I have also contacted the Houston BBB and Angie's list. I would never recommended this company or associated companies to anyone!!!!!

I should have read the reviews before hiring this company. It seems like they have a reputation for missing appointments, not calling people back, and running off with deposits. Here is my story: My contact at the company was Ashley Allred. He is an owner of the company. Very professional guy, but I think more a coward since he cannot tell you a job cannot be done. I hired them to remove trees off my property in Richmond. They left three stumps and one tree. It took several calls to get Ashley to go out and take a look. He promised they would return. No one showed up. He was good about answering his phone and returning texts until now. When you call the office, they just tell you "he is in the field." As of this writing, I had been waiting four days for a call back. Reading all the reviews, I guess I should not waste my time. Everyone else here has painted an accurate picture of this company. Just be careful before hiring this company to do any tree work.

A crew of three came out with no shredder. They performed what they called a top off job making the tree look stupid, leaving stray branches sticking out. I was expecting them to seal the cut branches. They said they don't normally do that. But, they found some old cans of spray which they used. Only one person did the trimming work. One did not not climb in the tree but carried branches to their trailer. The third, spent most of his time in the truck in the air conditioning sleeping. Even though they did remove one or two of the branches I asked them to, they didn't finish and said they had to go. However, they clearly expected tips since they did "in excess" of what they intended to do. Their web site touts them as arborists. The ones I had contact with called themselves "tree killers". I will never use them again.

A couple guys came over with a ladder and a tree pruner and did a pretty poor job. They hardly got up into the tree at all and so left a lof the tree unpruned. They came over wearing really baggy jeans and looked very unprofessional. While they were hauling tree trimmings away they knocked over a stack of ceramic pots for plants and didn't even apologize. I would not recommend.

I just recently moved into a new development and one night after a freak storm, a dead limb fell and broke the fence I share with my neighbor. We were able to put a board in place until I could get a tree service person out to do the work. I called several places on a Saturday and when I called Houston Tree service a real person answered the phone. The woman was quite nice and scheduled an appointment for Monday at 4PM to have a person come and give me an estimate. I tried to tell her that I really did not care too much about the cost since my limb was in my neighbor's yard and that I was most concerned about getting the job done. Nope - the procedure is estimate first and then a crew comes out. On Monday, Ashley was supposed to show up but never did. I called the office and the woman apologized and said she would find out what happened. She called back to say that Ashley could not find the house so he did not show up. I was furious because I gave them my phone number and I specifically told the woman that the house is NOT on google Maps. So, now he was supposed to show up Tuesday. Imagine my disbelilef when he does not show up again. This time they got the schedule messed up and for sure he is coming on Wednesday at 10AM. Fortunately I am a consultant working from home because this is a scheduling nightmare. Ashley graces me with his presence on Wednesday on time and he is very nice and very professional and apologizes for not calling. He gives me an estimate of $300 to remove the dead limb from the neighbor's yard and to clean that tree plus four others in my yard. He schedules the work to be done on Friday. I asks him if he swears he is going to be there Friday because I know my neighbors have a party planned for their little girl and they do not need a limb in the middle of the Jump House. He tells me he will call on Thursday to confirm a time. Of course Thursday comes and goes and he does not call so I call Friday morning to confirm that the crew was coming and that they had both my phone number and directions that I had provided Ashley. I was told the would be there. Nope - they lied again!!!! Nobody showed up or called on Friday at all. I called and left message for Ashley and the main office. No answer and no return phone call. I am not a violent person but honestly I wanted to hurt somebody. I frantically started calling any and everyone I could find in the phone book and finally walked down and talked to the workmen building the houses and they gave me the name of a guy, Pedro Brito, of P.B. Tree Service who showed up at 11AM on Saturday and cut down the dead limb, removed it from my neighbor's yard and was done in 30 minutes with time to spare before the big party. I called Houston Tree Service on Monday and the lady was shocked to hear that Ashley never called and said that they wanted to honor their estimate minus the large limb removal. Today Bradly and he crew showed up on time and did a great job trimming the rest of the trees. They were polite and professional and got the job done. Moral of the story, I won't ever call them again as I believe they lack integrity and customer service is a foreign concept. Ashley needs some training at the very least.

During a massive wind storm last week, a very large hackberry tree in our back yard cracked and broke at the base. It was leaning heavily but would not fall due to being tangled in another large tree. This caused a major danger as another heavy wind could cause the tree to fall at any time. The tree was next to our pool and if it fell, it could crush our spa and damage the pool. We called Houston Tree Service due to earlier excellent services we received when needing our oak trees trimmed. Anthony Rico came out the next day (Friday) and surveyed the job. He said that they could have a crew out the next morning (Saturday) to cut the tree down, haul away the debris, and grind the stump. We accepted the bid as we needed the work done ASAP. He said that the crew would be available at mid-morning. At 11 a.m. on Saturday, a crew of four arrived in a pickup full of equipment and towing an empty trailer. The crew leader was Cris Hutchison, the same person that had earlier trimmed our oak trees. All of the workers were native English speakers so we had no problems communicating. They surveyed the job, stabilized the tree with ropes to nearby trees, and had a worker climb to the top of the affected tree to trim the large branches. They roped and lowered any limbs that posed a risk to the pool and spa, then cut the tree trunk in sections and carted the wood to their trailer for disposal. After cutting the entire tree to the ground, they raked the yard of all leaves and then blew the pool area clean. At the finish, the only indication that a tree had been there was the base of the stump at ground level. The entire job took one hour. All four workers were extremely polite, well spoken and hard workers. Houston Tree Service scheduled for the stump grinder to perform his work on Wednesday. I received a call from the stump grinder confirming his schedule to arrive at 10:30 (he was also a native English speaker). I received a call from him at 10 a.m. apologizing for the need to be late - he had a good reason. He arrived about one hour later and immediately began work using a brand new stump grinder. He completed the job in a matter of a few minutes, cleaning up the wood chips after completing the job. And again, he was extremely polite and well spoken. I highly recommend Houston Tree Services based on my two experiences with them.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. ONCE THEY ARE PAID, THEY ARE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND TAX EVADERS Matt came by to give an estimate and showed up on time. Stated they have been in business for over 40 years and his father started the company. The crew that would come out would include a trained arborist and all his guys speak English. He gave me a professional looking business card and wrote out the estimate on a nice estimate worksheet. The work was to cut down 2 trees and grind the stumps and trim 4 trees. He gave me the best offer I received out of 3 companies I had give bids for the work.He said if I paid in cash he would do the job for $900, but if by check or card he would have to add additional cost. After I left I noticed his estimate worksheet did not mention the stump grinding. I called him immediately and left a voice mail. He never picks up his phone only returns a phone call if you leave a message. I found out why later. He assured me the $900 dollar quote he gave me included the stump grinding. I made sure to ask again that everything would be cleaned up afterwords including the stump shavings and he told me they would. When I called the company's main number to book the work they did not have the have the scope of work correct and I had to explain what what is was they would be doing (should have been my first tip off to a future bad experiance). I book the work for a Friday at 1pm. They showed up Friday at 11am. Can't say they were late, but definietly not on time! They were lucky I was pulling into the driveway, when Matt called me to tell me they were there. However unlike Matt promised, only one person almost spoke English. He knew enough English to barely communicate with me. He did manage to tell me that the stump grinder would come the next day. I immediately called Matt and left a message about this, and he called me back and told me that it is not the same crew and it would have to be tomorrow. I told him that I did not plan on this being done over two days and it had not been mentioned to me that it would be a two day job. He told me that its not like I even had to be there, but I would have to pay each crew separately in cash. $800 for the tree removers/trimmers and $100 for the stump grinder. I would give payment to each crew when they finished the job. He must have juggled arrangements because I got a call from the stump grinder subcontractor they used for this job and he wanted to know when and where he should come. I basically had to make all the arrangements that Matt should have done, all he did was tell the stump grinder how to contact me and I had to organize when he should come based on when the tree removal would be done. The workers trimmed the trees very fast, but I had to asked them to go back a few times and trim more than they did. It seems compared to my neighbor's trees that were just trimmed by someone else, my trees did not have half the work done on them even after I asked them to go back and trim more. I was watching them out the window at one point when they were taking down one of the trees in the back yard when a branch fell on my roof hard with a loud and quot;Thumpand quot;. The guys working all looked at each other with a facial expression of, and quot;oh crapand quot;. They never said a word about this. I did not either because when the went to work in the front yard I checked out where the branch fell and could tell no major damage was done. Just a dent in the flashing. I didn't feel like the headache of speaking broken Spanish and English for a minor dent. The stump grinder came in as the tree crew was leaving. They did a good job and I have no complaints about there work. I think the sign on there trailer was Jand R Stump Grinding. Jerry was the one who ran the machine. His machine was very old and backfired a lot, but it got the job done. However, when they were leaving I asked about the tree grindings that were left covering my yard. He mentioned that they are not equipped to remove this and they only grind the stump, not pick up the shavings. I would have to call Matt to have him get a crew out here to pick it up. His stump grinder machine took up all the space on the tiny trailer and I could tell he was telling the truth; he was not equipped to pick up the shavings. The same day, Friday, I left Matt a message. But now that all his crews had been paid he would not return my call. I tried calling other times but each time it rolled to voicemail. He never once picked up his phone. I called the main office on Monday and the lady on the phone told me they would have Matt call me. He did not. I called the main office again Monday evening, the lady said he should be calling me that evening. He did not. I called again Tuesday at noon, she said he would contact Matt and we what was going on, but they usually do not pick up stump grindings. She called me back, said she talked to Matt and told me that it was not part of the deal or in the contract and they could come pick it up for an extra fee. I told her there was no contract only an estimate as Matt had me pay in cash. I told her in fact, the estimate did not even mention stump grinding but they did that work. The agreement we made was that it would be picked up. She said she was just a middle man. Well if Matt won't talk to me, all I have left is the middle man to talk to. In addition to this, I found they backed over my yard with the fully loaded trailer holding the contents of 2 trees leaving a rut in my front yard. I also find it interesting that their website states the company and quot;was started by Desmond Allred in the 60's and ran with Ashley Allred and Brandon Murphy today.and quot; If Matt Perkins' dad started the company like he told me, then they must have different last names.

I called Houston Tree Service.org on Thursday and Chris came out and gave me an estimate to trim my extremely large live oak tree in my backyard. He told me the price and said he could come and trim it on Monday of the follwing week. He called me the next morning and said he would be able to get to it that morning if I wanted him to, and I said that would be fine. He came with a helper and trimmed the low branches about 8 to 10 feet from my roof, also fenceline, and neighbors roof. He did a really good job and they cleaned up very well too. I would use and recommend them to anyone. Thanks

I sent a request via email for an estimate on tree service. I described the work in the email. I received a phone call in a day or two. They preferred to give me an estimate after viewing the work and they wanted the owner at the work site. They came the next day about an hour late. Matt explained what work would be done. He also indicated that tree trimming should be done every two to three years which seemed reasonable for a tree. They were available the next day. They needed payment upon completion of work so I left an envelope hidden by the front door. The work was completed the next day and it looked good.

I spoke with Matt and made an appointment for him to come out and take a look for a free estimate. I explained exactly what I wanted and why and he indicated it would be no problem and quoted a price of $275. I agreed and in less than a week he had his guy come out and trim back the trees. When I arrived home from work I was slightly disappointed as both trees had been trimmed (several limbs had been cut back), making the trees look nice, but the pine tree was still overhanging into the neighbors yard and the oak tree was only cut back 1 foot away from the house. I called Matt and discussed the results with him and he immediately offered to call the service tech and sort it out. An hour later the tech was at my house and he trimmed back both trees as requested in less than an hour. I was really happy with the service and quality of the job.
Description of Work: I had two young trees (~10 years old) in my backyard that I wanted to trim. One was a pine tree that was starting to grow too much over the fence and into the neighbors yard and the other was an oak tree that had branches that were starting to hit the 2nd story windows.
