A rep from the company came out and walked through the house and garage before giving a quote. I decided to pay extra and get the full pack. It was originally scheduled as a 2 day pack/move, and I was told there would be 2 trucks. Because I had to change my closing date, it then became a one-day move. I was assured it could be done in one day, and was told again there would be 2 trucks. Moving day the team of 7 got there around 7am, and worked hard. They were polite, helpful, and got off to a good start. However, there was only one truck. At some point in the afternoon, 4 of the workers left. The 3 remaining worked until we sent them home at almost 10 pm, because we were all worn out. When I went back to the old house the next day, the entire pantry and several other cabinets in the kitchen had not been packed, there were decorative items on living room shelves, items hanging on walls, an upstairs bedroom closet had been missed completely, and every other bedroom and game room had things left, such as keyboard drawer and mouse drawer from a desk. Despite receiving confirmation from the movers that everything had been gotten out of the attic, not one thing had been removed. It took me 14 hours to finish packing and moving what they had left. To top it off, the workers had clogged two (2!!!) of my toilets, had not attempted to fix the problem themselves, and had not told us about it. We were left to find it on our own. Totally disgusting. The job was clearly underbid and understaffed. I would have rather paid more and had it done right. I would not recommend them.

I described above how it went. start to finish. It went horribly.
Description of Work: I moved from Houston Texas to Woodbridge Virginia. It was a horrible experience, to begin with. I originally hired and paid $870 as a down payment to another company--and I will write a review for them separately. They cancelled on me on the day they were supposed to pick up my household goods. Instead, they subcontracted or "sold" my contract to Houston Movers R US without my permission. I thought Houston Movers R Us was an agent of QRS. They were not. Houston Movers R Us showed up at 9:00 PM and brought with them a crew of six packers. I was just relieved that they were going to pack me out, because I was supposed to be going to San Antonio to be with family for Thanksgiving. David and Ben from Houston Movers R Us met with me and were "so nice" and reassuring. They surveyed my one bedroom apartment and said that my estimate was "way undervalue" and that I should go with the guaranteed bid versus the nonguaranteed bid because it would definitely be higher since I had "so much stuff." So, it ended up costing me $1387 more than I was originally quoted. I agreed to pay that amount. The movers were moving fast and furious to get my stuff packed and on the truck. They got everything packed and loaded (the packed, I did not)...David was in charge of doing the inventory. He left at one point for over 45 minutes to go to the store to buy benadryl because of his allergies. Nobody took over the task of writing the inventory. Most of the boxes on the inventory had PBO. Since this was my first move on my own (I was married for 25 years), I didn't know what tha tmeant. It meant "packed by owner" which was a complete lie. I only had a few boxes that I packed myself. These packers folded my suits and put them in a wardrobe box instead of hanging them. then they put towels and blankets on top--shoes, books, etc. They put pots and pans on top of glasses and crystal. I took pictures. They DUMPED basketsx into boxes and just threw my stuff into boxes as they packed. This was so horrible. I couldn't monitor every packer because there were six of them. Ben assured me that these packers were bonded and qualified and they would "take care of my stuff. He also promised me he would keep in touch with me every step of the way...he's a liar. He looked me in the eye and I trusted him at his word. He is a liar. I have called him numerous times, and he had refused to return my calls. 1/2 of my boxes are missing. They did not arrive. The shipment was late (a day) I had just started my job, and they delivered it on my first day of work. The idiot driver started off loading and taking stuff into my apartment so I could not check the items off as they were being taken itno my apartment. The two crew he had helping he found on CRAIGS LIST!!! (they told me...they were the only decent guys in this move--but they were found on CRAIGS LIST...they could have been seriel rapists or murderers...). I was told at the 11th hour about the increased valuation--the other compnay never went over this with me. So, I did not get it. I couldn't afford it after learning that I had to pay another unexpected $1400 for this move (and I question how much of that was legitimate and went into Ben's pocket now). This has been a nightmare. I ended up with boxes that did not belong to me. Damaged and broken items. Missing items...and I have no idea what's missing because I did not have the opportunity to check items off because the driver was in such a hurry to leave. He was an idiot. This isn't over. But I wanted to get this on Angie's list so nobody else will have to go through what I went through with this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE company. They are the worst! They will look you straight in the eye and LIE to you. Get your stuff, get your money...and then forget you.
