Mark and his crew worked professionally, were considerate of neighbors and were helpful in all respects. The contractual offer was very competitive. The job was completed with in terms and schedule. The design and construction techniques were well within acceptable practices and city permitting codes. The work area was kept clean and safe.

Our backyard patio was originally poured directly on the ground. The yard had settled over the years and the patio did also. This created a little lake in the backyard when it rained. It had several major cracks that had been patched so our only option was to take the patio out, install a drainage system and pour a new patio. You could tell from talking with Mark that he knew what he was talking about and most important he listened to what we wanted and then guided us on the best way to go. He quoted several options which allowed us to make the decision on the final project. His crew is courteous, professional and always left the property neat and ready to start work the next morning. Mark replaced a fence connected to a gate leading to the backyard and repaired and power washed the gate. Looks new. The cost of the project was fair - the work they did was perfect and we have the most beautiful new patio. You'll not regret speaking with Mark before you start any projects like this.

The job was done correctly and was completed when Mr. Reyna said it would be. They even replaced a fence gate for us. The driveway, walkway and patio look fantastic, and are sloped correctly for proper drainage. The job they did was excellent all around. The new gate they installed for us was better than the one the fence company had originally built! I feel the price that was charged was very reasonable. Mark Reyna kept an appointment on 05/08/12 (5:00 pm) to review a request to replace a driveway at our house. We wanted to demolish the existing driveway and replace it with a wider driveway. Mark took some measurements and discussed the project we desired. Within two days, Mark sent an estimate by e-mail. The estimate was higher than estimates from other service providers we had contacted, so I contacted him to discuss the higher estimate. I did note that Mark's estimate used what I thought were higher standard specifications, including higher strength concrete and closer spacing of re-bars. During this discussion of the estimate, Mark stated that he applied the higher standards because of the type of soil in our area; he seemed to be very knowledgeable and professional in this respect. We also discussed a few other aspects of the project in greater detail. I then contacted some other service providers and asked for a new estimate using the specifications used in Mark's estimate. I found that the revised estimate was very close to Mark's estimate; thus, I concluded that Mark's higher estimate reflected the application of different standards to the proposed project. The other service provider claimed that even though their original estimate used different specifications, those specifications would be sufficient, even when the soil type was taken into consideration. The other service provider seemed to be flexible--they were willing to perform the job using whatever specifications I chose. Mark seemed to be a bit less flexible; his professionalism, and his desire to ensure high quality work, seemed to make him somewhat less willing to perform work at lower standards. Since our house is an older house that is likely to be torn down when we sell it, we did not want to spend more money than was necessary for a driveway that would not be needed too long. Thus, we decided to use another service provider for the driveway replacement project. I may regret this decision if we remain in this house longer than anticipated and encounter problems that might not have developed had we used Mark. I was very impressed with Mark's knowledge, professionalism, and courtesy, and would not hesitate to recommend him to others or to consider him for any future projects I may want to undertake.

Mark and his crew were great to work with. He was very helpful as my wife and I struggled with what we wanted. He came out several times for conversations and even checked out a concrete job we had seen someplace else. Mark takes pride in providing an excellent product. He and his crew did an excellent job, and we have been enjoying the fruits of his labor for over a year and a half. I am sorry for the delay in writing this review, but my delay does not detract from his excellent work.

This was, without a doubt, the easiest contractor I have ever delt with. Mark was always on time, explained everything fully, took the time to be sure we knew exactly what was going to be done, followed through with everything he bid, and cleaned up totally. There was an in ground sprinkler head where the new concrete was to be poured and they moved it, making sure it was lined up correctly. We will be adding a stand alone garage in the future and I will definitely call Houston Hardscape for the concrete work.

Mark, from Houston Hardscape, gave us an estimate on our concrete driveway and his price was comparable to others we had received. We were impressed with the reviews on Angie's List from other consumers and after meeting and talking with Mark, we made the decision to select him and his company to do our driveway. Mark gave us an estimated start date, but due to inclement weather was delayed a couple of days. He kept us informed of his daily schedule and if we had any questions, he would always return our calls promptly. Mark checked with us daily and at every phase of the work to make sure it was exactly what we were expecting and wanted. He and his crew were very professional and did an excellent job. The finish and clean-up work was above and beyond. Mark has even followed up with us to make sure everything is okay and we are still pleased with the work. How many contractors do that? We would not hesitate to recommend Mark and Houston Hardscape, Inc., to anyone needing concrete work, whether a large or small job. You will get an excellent job from a very reliable, knowledgeable, and professional contractor.

They did a great job. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and they did good quality work. The people that came out to do the job were professional and courteous. They were timely and clean. They were the most competitive in terms of price. I’m happy with what they did. They were the first to respond and they were on time. They were good. It went great. Mark kept in touch as weather was an issue. The workers were only here for 2 days, digging and setting the forms and pouring/stamping on the second day. Mark came out one day to wash it down and inspect it and a second day to seal.

They did a great job. They came on time. They came out after the job and followed up. I was very happy with their work.

They were much higher priced than other bids I received. However, I thought they were friendly and followed up well. I really appreciated how nice the office staff was over the phone.

I looked in Angie's List for concrete work and based on their information page I went with Houston Hardscape intending to get a bid on the job and then get other bids. The owner came out promptly and gave me a bid on replacing a section of our driveway and the price was so reasonable and he was so thorough in explaining what the job entailed that I went with Houston Hardscape. The initial start date was delayed due to another job. They came and broke up and hauled away the concrete and put down the framing. The pouring of the concrete was delayed till the next day because of a truck issue. They arrived always on time in the mornings and poured the concrete explaining instructions on staying off the wet concrete and when it would be able to be driven on. They came back the next day and removed the frames and finished cleaning up debris and ended up giving me a break on the price because of the delays. Super nice people.

They are the leading bidder out of three firms that I called but I have not done the project yet. He was very punctual and was on time for our meeting. He did a very good estimate and was quick; they have a professional organization. If I do the project they will be the ones to do it so I will use them again in the future.

I had narrowed it down to this company along with another that is highly rated on this list but chose Houston Hardscape based on the detailed answers they provided about the underlying preparation they would do before laying forms. If I had been doing just a patio and was more interested in a decorative finish, I probably would have chosen the other company. Unlike most contractors who can be hard to contact, Mark kept me informed every step of the way and returned all my calls promptly. Minor changes were performed with no push-back and I really felt as though my satisfaction was their most important goal. Their price was in the middle of the three bids that I received but the differences in the bid and in the actual work performed convinced me that I had chosen the best value based on my criteria. I am especially happy with the effort Mark put into the layout of the forms, reducing the amount of angle between the driveway and the street and making sure that all surfaces had the proper slope to drain away from the house and prevent standing water in the heaviest downpours. After the work was performed, Mark has called back to make sure that everything was satisfactory and has been out to perform a minor clean up missed on the initial job with no hesitation.

He responded to me in a timely manner. I haven't had the work done yet because my schedule changed and I haven’t started the project yet. I have a dimensional drawing of what I want done so nobody actually came out to the house but I didn't ask anybody to come out. I asked for a general quote within 20 percent based on my drawing showing what I wanted. The experience was good. They called and we talked it out. They didn't do anything wrong but they didn't blow my socks off. I wouldn't have any reason not to use them.

They were professional from the beginning. Mark Reyna, the owner, came to our house with a photo album of previous jobs, brought us samples of pavers to look at, and was very patient as I made up my mind (a long process). Work was started when they said it would be and finished on time. Here's true customer service: In this summer's drought, the bricks have separated a bit as the earth moves under them. When we called to ask how to handle that problem, a crew came back out to our house the next day and swept more sand into the cracks. They did not charge us.To sum up, I think their prices were quite expensive, but they did a great job, giving us a quality product and good service.

I found Houston Hardscape extremely professional and knowledgeable. They knew what they were talking about in order to create a driveway that should withstand the expandable clays of Houston. We ended up going with another company that we also liked because of their patio design and the cost was somewhat lower. I would feel very comfortable with Houston Hardscapes.

From the first meeting Mark presented himself and his services in a very professional manner. He exceeded all my expectations. Cleaned up completely and left the site spotless. Work was done exactly when promised. He suggested raising the front porch so that we would no longer have roll-back of rainwater and suggested that we tie in a smaller repair than we had intended on the driveway to reduce cost. I have had multiple compliments on the work since its completion.

He gave me a detailed description of what needed to be done to fix the driveway, including options for making it work in with the existing landscaping. He gave a thorough itemized estimate, and an estimated start date. Once I gave the go-ahead, he pulled all of the necessary permits and was ready to start within the promised timeline. I was happy to hear that he estimated the job to be complete within three days. Once they started work, each phase happened exactly on time as promised, and the job was completed on schedule. Mark was very good about keeping me posted on weather, and any resulting adjustments to the schedule. The crew was a pleasure to work with, and they were very considerate of the neighbors and surrounding street activity. When the job was complete, Mark did a prompt followup with inspectors, and made sure the site was left clean and neat. The end result made a huge improvement on the entrance to the property. The work on the curb and driveway was superior to any I had seen, and I was VERY glad I went with this company for the job. The end result was well worth the price of the job, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
