Mark Reyna provided a thorough assessment and estimate of the project, including a breakdown of the costs. The project cost was competitive with other contractors, but the quality proposed was what convinced us to use Houston Hardscape. Specifically, they used 12 inch on center reinforcing rebar for the driveway, compared to others at 15 to 18 inches. The project also provided for 4 to 6 inch concrete depth as well as different finishes. We chose the 4 inch depth. Driveway was expanded by 3 to 4 feet in width for approximately 30 feet near the garage to fit 2 vehicles. The front walkway has a curve and is highlighted by a line on either side that provides a simple but decorative touch. Our front entry time was replaced with 1/2 inch rough surface tile and set with an attractive design and perfectly matches the house brick. Mark was involved with every step of the project. His crew efficiently demolished the driveway and walk and removed all materials on the first day. While equipment was left on site, the crew carefully secured it. The next couple days involved grading and setting of the forms to eventually pour the concrete. The concrete was poured in two phases and there was a one day delay due to weather concerns. Overall, the project took one week to complete. We were completely satisfied with the results. While Mark was not onsite at all times, he routinely checked in at least twice daily. He solicited any questions we had, and always made certain that we were completely happy with the day's progress. All permits were effectively handled by Mark. He worked with us to provide documents that our homeowners association required. I would highly recommend Houston Hardscape for your project. Mark Reyna is exceptional, highly professional and completely honest and straightforward.

We asked Mark Reyna of Houston Hardscape for a bid for replacing our old driveway, which was uneven and badly cracked. The job was complicated by the presence of a large tree right next to the driveway and by our desire to widen the pavement to the maximum extent possible. Mark made several trips to the house before we could decide exactly what could be done, consistent with city regulations and the need to preserve the tree. He proved easy to communicate with and deal with, and he was very patient with our dithering. The final design included a strip of gravel across the driveway, to allow water to reach the tree roots, and a strip of pavestones between the concrete and the property line. Mark's dealings with the City of Houston, which consisted of getting a building permit and several inspections after work started, seemed to go smoothly. Once the contract was signed, it took about six weeks before construction started, but part of that delay was due to our being away for ten days. Once the job started, it was completed very efficiently. It started on a Friday and was finished the following Wednesday. The crew worked all day every day except Sunday, and Mark was there working with the men almost all of the time. The crew did a good job of cleaning up every night. They really made every effort to minimize the inconvenience for us. Houston Hardscape charges more than some competitors, but they give exceptional attention to details. They put in more elaborate wood framing than is standard in our neighborhood. For example, where the driveway comes right up to the slab of the house, they put in an extra wooden divider about two feet from the house, so that it won't be necessary to tear up the whole driveway if the house needs foundation work. Mark was also exceptionally responsive to any questions or concerns we had. One glitch occurred when, a day or so after the work was finished, we discovered a broken sprinkler pipe at the edge of the new concrete. Mark immediately agreed to fix the problem, and it was fixed within a couple of days Overall, we were very satisfied with the job and will certainly call Houston Hardscape if we ever need concrete work again.

Mark showed up when he said he would. Mark provided quotations in a timely manner. Once the job began, Mark made sure that we were satisfied with each step. The crew cleaned up after every day which included hosing off the dirt and mud from our existing driveway. Upon completion, Mark followed up with us to see if there were any questions or if there was anything that was not satisfactory.

Houston Hardscape Inc really delivered what they promised. We recently purchased our 1930's home in the Heights and it needed significant renovations. Mark Reyna and his crew replaced the sidewalk and walkway in front of our house. They were clean, efficient, and extremely professional. And his pricing for the services performed was very reasonable. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. I plan on calling on him again to re-gravel and extend our driveway when the time is right.

Mark came over on time and had a lot of questions about what exactly we wanted, he ran through all the options and his ideas and explained in detail what they would do. Job started on time and went exactly as planned. Finished on schedule. They were very professional and easy to work with throughout the whole process. We're happy with the new driveway.

Houston Hardscape did a great job replacing my small old deck with pavers. Mark helped me plan the patio. He brought example pavers to my home so I could select the style and color I wanted. He checked in regularly while we waited for the permit. As soon as we got the permit, his team went to work. Mark listened to my concerns about drainage and sprinklers and designed the patio accordingly. He was flexible when I requested large rocks to be included as seating for the patio. The patio was done in time for Fourth of July. I am very pleased with the service Houston Hardscape provided.

Mark came over and provided an estimate very promptly. Mark was very knowledgeable and we could tell he knew what he was doing so we hired him. It took 2-3 more weeks before we could arrange a time to do the actual job. I felt he kept pushing us to the back burner (I know it is a small job) and I had to keep calling him to reschedule. Once we finally were able to arrange a time, Mark and his crew did an excellent job (granted, my husband had to be home so he could cut the power to the lamp post and be available to answer questions, etc.). They dug the holes and poured the mailbox base (approximately 18" x 18" x 2ft deep) and the lamp post base (2ft. x 2ft. x 2ft deep). Mark also provided the proper bolts to fit the base of the mailbox and lamp post. They even took away the old mailbox and lamp post! And I was so happy that they cut the pavers to fit around the lamp post (which is located in the middle of the paver sidewalk). Crew cleaned up the work site. Mark was there for most of the job which took all day and said that he would come back if we had any problems with the bolts not being set properly. Of course, we had to wait a couple of weeks before we could install the mailbox and lamp post. With a couple of minor adjustments we installed the mailbox and lamp post. Mark was professional and did an excellent job and we would recommend him.

He was prompt, courteous, and professional. I would never hesitate calling him again for any driveway/concrete work.

1. Houston Hardscapes started the work on time and kept Sandra and I informed each step of the way. Mark answered any questions that Sandra and I had in a very straight forward and understandable manner. I plan to use him for future concrete and outside lighting and fencing projects in the future. 2. The professional work that Mark's crews provided was excellent in every detail. They worked as quietly as they could given that some heavy equipment had to be used to break up my badly cracked driveway. 3. Mark obtained all City of Houston permits and coordinated with the City Inspector both before the sidewalks were poured and after the sidewalk work was completed. Both inspections passed with no problems. 4. The work was initially scheduled for seven days but took nine days because of rain that we had at our home for two days. This was out of Houston Hardscapes control. In fact, they came on two Sundays to manually shovel out water that had accumulated from the prior nights rainfall. 5. Houston Hardscapes cleaned up after themselves very well at the end of each days work. This made it easier for Sandra and I to gain access to our home from either the front door or side gate. 6. Mark left two orange cones plus a yellow tape in front of our drive way for a full week after the driveway was completed so that no one would accidently drive a car on the new driveway for one week after the pour was completed. This is allowing the driveway to cure properly.

The morning of my scheduled visit, I received a call asking if I still need them to come out and give me a quote. I said yes! duh! Why would I make an appointment? - then I was inform that it would be pass the time I original was given because the rep was across town. Then he went on to say he misplaced my number as this was the reason for not getting to me the original time he was scheduled to be at my place. After I said yes that I still needed a quote. He went on to ask for my address again. At this point, I was getting upset because I felt like he did not take the time to write my information down the first time. There was no reason for me to repeat myself as it just went to show me that he was more interested in the job making money vs. coming to give me a quote not knowing if he would get the job. At this point, I just told him I would look for someone else to do the job and hung up. It's unfortunate, because I seriously was looking for someone to redo my driveway, and sidewalk.

I worked with Mark Reyna throughout the entire project. I asked a lot of questions because I had never constructed a culvert before, and Mark was very responsive to all of my needs. He did a nice job of listening to my goals for the project and responding with a design that met my needs and the building code. Mark was onsite and directly supervised his crew through the project. He also updated me regularly after the pour regarding the status of inspections and the days when the sidewalk and driveway could be used. I live in the Heights and get a fair amount of pedestrian traffic. Without being asked, Mark installed signage to inform pedestrians and barricades to secure the work site and my yard. The quality of the driveway, sidewalk and culvert is outstanding. He really did a nice job on sloping the driveway over the culvert so that water drains appropriately and that a "ridge" is not noticeable over the culvert. The crew removed all debris and left the work site very clean. I would strongly recommend Houston Hardscape.

They were wonderful and so reliable. They met with us 2-3 times before they started work and shared samples and photos of other projects so they knew exactly what we wanted. They were on time and professional throughout the job, paying close attention to the pitch of the patio for drainage. The finished result looks great and I would highly recommend them. In fact, I have already let some of my friends know about them.

I have nothing but good things to say about Mark Reyna and his company, Houston Hardscape, Inc. He is extremely professional and thorough. He takes care of the city permitting process. He arrived at the scheduled time with his crew and equipment, reviewed the proposed work with me and quickly got to work removing the old driveway and sidewalk. He laid the forms and rebar for the new work and had it inspected. His rebar installation for the new driveway exceeded code. Then the concrete was poured and inspected. All this in less than three days! His finish work with the curbs and surface is perfection. It was a hassle-free perfect job and I couldn't be more pleased. I recommend him without reservation.

We wanted a modern walkway up to the house and replace the grass on the side of the house so we didn't have to water. Along with that we had a very old front porch and wanted to add a modern look. Mark Reyna worked with me to design 3 parts around our home that we wanted to change that had the look, functionality, and material we liked. Mark is extremely accessible throughout the life of the project. Mark came out when I first called and we went through the entire perimeter of the house and we communicated back and forth about design changes, etc until everything was clear - very easy process with no pressure. He explains everything that he is going to do and use down to the nth degree - it really is an excellent way to do business. It took 6 days for Houston Hardscape to: 1. Dig out areas pre concrete pouring 2. Design and lay out for all areas requiring the floating pads and pathways 3. Pour cement and design with a smooth finish 4. Hammer and saw out old tile in front porch area 5. Design, cut, and saw new modern tile for the front porch 6. Mulch and design a new modern front area ready for spring planting. They left everything clean as a whistle after the project was done.

My husband and I were completely impressed with Mark of Houston Hardscapes. We recently purchased this house and knew the driveway was in bad shape, but were completely surprised to find that it was so badly torn up and shifted by tree roots that whenever it rained water would flood our garage. The French drains installed by the former owners were useless. I called several other companies on Angies List and they were not helpful on the drainage issues and suggested they pour the driveway where water would flow toward the backyard with the French drains. I told them the drains were basically useless, but they insisted it would be fine. I called Mark and was encouraged by his professionalism and promptness. He looked over our driveway and told us it was in such bad shape because there was no rebar. He said he would replace about a third of it (by the garage, we have a long driveway) and grade the driveway where the water would flow away from the garage and also grade the side of our front yard so water would flow away from the house to our ditch. He quoted a price for concrete demo, new concrete, and grading and I found it reasonable. Mark was there every day and did most of the work himself. It took about 5 days because we had some rain. He answered all of my questions and kept me updated daily. He demoed the old driveway, graded the driveway and yard, and poured a new driveway which was bigger than my original. He did a beautiful job, cleaned everything up, and because of his grading using a little Bobcat, our French drains are not necessary. We have had many hard rains and everything drains away from the garage and the house, exactly as he promised. Mark was not the cheapest quote, but he did an excellent job. Not only is our old buckled driveway replaced, but he fixed our garage and yard drainage issues. He was very professional, prompt, patient, and honest. I would not hesitate to hire him again in the near future to replace the rest of our crumbled driveway. I am 100% happy with his work.

Mark Reyna was professional and easy to work with. He was conscientious about keeping me informed about the process and often asked if I had any questions. He returned phone calls and was reliable. The work looks good. I was initially taken back by the cost, but other quotes came in at about the same rate...the price of concrete has gone up!

My husband and I had been wanting to install a new patio for many months. We interviewed about 7 landscapers/designers. We decided to use Mark based on his professional attitude and competitive pricing. Mark was very professional from the start to the finish. Work was completed on time to a high level of quality. The crew cleaned up after everyday of work. Mark worked with us on all the details to make sure we were happy. Final price was as quoted, no surprises. Also, Mark was here working everyday along side his crew. We would highly recommend Mark for any job.

We are very happy with all of the work. Good design, completed at the bid price and provided constant updates of work progress. Very professional and arrived on time each day - in fact completed the job ahead of schedule.

Mark did an excellent job. We were impressed with his customer focus, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done right. He was very patient with all of our questions and long list of requirements. The concrete paving was done fast and expertly and at a great price. The paver stone work was a little pricier relative to other bids, but well worth the slightly higher cost as the craftsmanship was superb. The workers cut and fit the stones with precision and carefully chose each stone for the best pattern effect (we used a combination mix from Pavestone that had color variation and 3 different sizes). When Mark saw that the grading wasn't turning out just right in a couple spots, he did not hesitate to tear out the work and redo it. The drainage was installed well, with a particularly nice job done where the drain pipes are cut into the curbs. We've seen too many concrete jobs in our neighborhood where the driveway apron or the rebuilt curb has started to crack almost right away. Not so here. Almost 6 months later and the work looks like new.

Left message for company, asking for quote on damaged driveway. They called back a few days later, came that day, 4/11/13 to view job. Contractor was courteous, made suggestions, and said that quote would be emailed from office. This is now a week later, and no quote, no call. If they were too busy, or did not want job, they could have told me so. I have now given job to another firm.

I have only sent a request to receive a quote. I have yet to hear from them.

Houston Hardscape did an excellent job with replacing our driveway. Mark came and discussed our project with us and described the process very well. His estimate was fair and competitive with two others. His proposal was very detailed and thorough. The specifications of his construction and materials was better than the other two contractors and that helped in choosing him. They began when they said and completed on time. He and his crew showed they were very experienced professionals and had all the tools and equipment to do a proper job. Mark communicated very well throughout the project. Each day he would contact me to discuss what they did that day and what was planned for the next. They were very respectful of our property and our neighbors and they cleaned up and marked off the area each day before leaving. Mark and his crew made our driveway replacement a very positive experience. We have received many compliments from our neighbors and I would hire them again.

Mark was very professional and dealt with all aspects of the driveway installation from design, to permits and completion. He won our bid because of his knowledge, experience and professionalism. He wasn't the cheapest but his price points were VERY close. It was worth the few extra dollars to have him be our contractor. I plan to use him for ANY concrete design we have planned for the future. I have already been asked by neighbors and friends for his card to do their work.
