I was initially confused about the type and color of mulch delivered. I thought I was going to get a darker mulch for my purchase. Initially, I was concerned and not happy about the mix up. I cannot say enough how impressed I was with the service and attitude of the owner. He was ready to stop his workers and have them remove the large amount of mulch that had already been installed, just to meet my request and make me happy. He explained very well, how all his mulch products are only organic and he does not deal with anything of lesser quality. The mulch that was being installed was a better quality and better for the environment, than the "chemically died" dark mulch that I thought I desired. I was impressed how he was explaining this to me, without trying to convince me. He was already instructing the men to stop their work, shovel it back into the trailer, and instructing another to go pick up the mulch that I desired. IMPRESSIVE. His professionalism and courtesy impressed me. I decided to listen to his professional opinion. I, on my own accord, decided to keep the mulch that he had brought. I am very pleased to know that I have a top quality, organic product in my lawn, versus a "died" version of mulch. I also love the finished product. Peace of Green also built a small walkway through my flowerbed, made from my existing flagstones. They leveled the area, re-sized the flagstone, added crushed granite, and small grass "clumps" to make it transition from flowerbed to lawn. The landscaping idea was theirs, and I love the finished product. We now have a wonderful stepping path into our lawn and it looks like it has been there always. Peace of Green was a joy to work with. I was impressed with James' professionalism and courtesy. All of the crew was efficient and professional. They cleaned up all areas 100% and left the place spotless. I LOVE my new flowerbeds, my flowers, and my walkway. Thank you Peace of Green for your patience, professional attitude and courtesy. EXCELLENT. James was wonderful and very friendly.

I called and scheduled about a week ahead of time to have my garden areas in my front and back yard cleaned up and mulched. They were very pleasant to work with on the phone and I never had a problem with communication. On the day of the appointment though, I received a call and was told they had an unexpected meeting thrown into their schedule and asked if I would mind re-scheduling with a discount for the trouble. I wouldn't have minded except that I had family visiting and wanted the yard looking nice for their arrival. Instead of re-scheduling, I asked if they could squeeze me in the next day and just take care of the front yard instead of the front and back. They were able to do that and gave me an estimate over the phone using my estimated square footage to determine the amount of mulch and work that may be needed. On the day of their arrival, they came at the end of the day and the work done looked very nice. They removed the weeds, trimmed the bushes, and put in mulch. They cleaned up after they were finished as well so that the front yard looked very nice in all.

Bought the $49 deal for weeding the beds and an amount of mulch. Was very hard to get them scheduled, would schedule and then not show. After about three tries, finally got them out. Did not know the weeding was supposed to be included in my price and as I suspected would happen, ended up charging me $60 more to "finish" the job. $109 total was no better of a bargain than I could get anywhere else.

Smooth and on time. Service performed in time constraint and finished early.

They e-mailed me promptly. They kept me informed over the telephone when they would be able to come. They arrived early and performed the work.

When I called to get an appointment found Priscilla very helpful and delightful to speak with, she arranged an appointment for me a week later. James arrived on time. I went over my needs and possible future needs for my yard. Since I've never bought sod before or have any experience with sprinkler systems I just listen while James explain how things were to be done, including preparing my yard for the grass . He measured and said I would need 3 plats ( if that is the right word) and that due to the trees would use a kind that only needed 4 hours of sun, which I thought was a good idea. With my recent tree trimming and shaping I think the area gets over 6 hours now, but may not be the same when tress grow back some. I have a hole where I removed a pond and James told me they would fill the hole for me too. We also talked about some future projects a new patio which he gave me some price ideas. All in all I was please with the meeting and excited about the project. I called back Priscilla to give her my credit card information they require half up front so we could get started . Crew arrived around 1030 in the morning and started working on the yard. The guy who came to the door told me he still had to go and get the grass but someone would be working on the sprinkler system and getting the yard ready. When they started laying down the grass well I've never seen such pretty grass. I did notice they occasionally threw some dirt and debris in the place the hole was but began to wonder if they were going to fill the hole. Due to sprinkler system dug they removed some of the brick borders from the garden and dug up some of my poor pitiful grass in the other half of my yard. I went out a couple of times to check on things, and offer the guys bottles of cold water. The guys laying the grass had put some of in the other part of my yard where they dug up. Now this section wasn't in the measurements for original grass, but it was a small area. It became apparent they were out of grass with still a lot of lawn to be done. The one guy who I did speak too, I regret I don't have his name, he was friendly but I do think we had some language problems. Anyway now he tells me there isn't enough grass, that when they went to pick it up they only had 2 not the 3 plats for him and they would have to come back Monday to place the rest. Fine with me. Again I just was in awe of how pretty what was laid down looked. He then told me they would be there a couple of more hours working on the sprinkler, it was after 4. Another crew arrived I'm not sure what for but then 20 minutes later they all were gone. Surveying my yard I thought I wouldn't mind buying more grass to fill in some of the spots on the other half of my yard now that looked even worse for the digging up for the sprinkler system. If I had some kind of point person I would have paid for more grass since they had to come back on Monday anyway, but didn't know who to speak too. I guess I should of asked when anyone was coming back on Monday, but then it went from 2 hours to everyone suddenly gone, no one knocked on the door to let me know they were all leaving. I waited all day and was cutting my front yard, when they showed up just before four. They got right to work putting down the rest of the lawn. So much so, I sweeping my side walk from cutting my grass and realized they kept dropping dirt and grass so gave up sweeping. When they were done , there was still grass in the truck. Again the gentleman who spoke with me told me he was done, but some one for the sprinkler still had to come to finish. They had mounted the box on the wall but the wires where just hanging on the wall. He indicated the sprinkler worked. I asked the guy if I should fertilize the grass or how long to wait. I don't think he understood me. I told him I didn't know how to run a sprinkler system. He told me it was already set up. We did look at the box together and I could see how to set it. I asked the guy if he had a booklet and he said yes and went and got it for me. Only later did I realize it was in Spanish. This same guy told me it had actually take 3 and 1/2 plats to do my lawn. He told me I could probably get the rest of my yard done for 2 more plats. I can't tell you how pitiful it looks next to my new grass. I also mentioned I needed some fencing and this guy explain how he could replace the fence and explain to me what a good fence would need. He told me he could do it just to call James. So he left and told me he was done and some one would come out to finish the sprinkler. No one showed up that night. The next day someone did show up and cover the wires going to the box, but they are still laying on top of my garden along the edge of the house. Since I was working on Tuesday night I was attempting to sleep, did hear the dogs barking but didn't get up. I never saw this person. The major problem I had with Green Peace was there was no real person that seemed to be in charge for me to talk with during the work. If it was the guy I refereed too above, he was nice, but didn't really seem like he was in charge. The hole was filled, but not completely so it is much better, but not done. I have brick borders for my garden weren't replaced and I was missing a section which I found partially buried in the hole. I still have wires laying above ground in my one garden. I still have questions about my new lawn and sprinkler. I did ask the guy about what about the pipes above the ground when it freezes, but I don't think he understood me. I didn't realize there would be two pipe sticking up on the side of my house. I got a call and email about the second payment. When I talked to Priscilla about my many questions she was quite concern and tired to get hold of James. She wasn't able too, I had to go to sleep I'm a shift worker. She gave another phone number for James and told me to call in tomorrow and tell James a good time to get back to me and he would call me. By the next day well I didn't call. After about two weeks is when I noticed an area by my fence line and by my house my new grass is dying. I went out one morning after the sprinklers were off and found those area's dry. The sprinkler also doesn't water my gardens by my house. I know I have no idea how to adjust the sprinklers. I don't do well with confronting people about things and my issues are little, well my new grass dying is concerning. My assessment is James is really nice but the company is growing so fast it's hard to keep up. He told me he has a lot of business since Angie's list. But if he is unable to follow up on jobs he needs to have some kind of supervisor person to deal with the client. I don't know but wires laying on top of the garden don't seem right and if you have to remove things when putting in sprinklers put them back. It would of been nice to clean up the sidewalk once you were done with placing the grass. It would of been nice to have someone walk around the yard with me and explain what was done and explain what things are to me. Besides the pipe on the side of the house there is some circular covered area that seems to be some control for the sprinkler system but I don't know. The reason I didn't call James back was I wanted someone to see my concerns and I think once Priscilla told him I had some questions he should of tired to get back in touch with me. But in ending my new grass is beautiful.

Wonderful! They even cleaned up the bushes and landscaping wh/ was not part of the job!

I called on a Monday to see if it would be possible to have fall flowers planted by Thanksgiving (the next Thursday). James made an appointment to come give me an estimate on Wednesday. He was on time, gave me an estimate, and had all the flowers planted the same day. Great job! Great service!

They came out the next day. They worked around my schedule. I now use them on weekly basis. I was so happy that they worked me in. James is very easy to talk to. They also checked my sprinkler system, which they didn't charge me for and I wouldn't have even thought to check. They are just excellent.

My back yard had developed drainage problems, the city water main had blown 4-5 times over a 6 year period and between the flooding and the tearing up of the back yard by the city in patching the main I started having a problem with rain water not draining from the back yard and going into by outside buildings. Earth Ideas was one the the three companies that I had come out and give estimates on repairing the drainage and they did a wonderful job of fixing the yard. They installed a new french drain, and determined that I needed some drainage boxes in the yard as well, they tied in my gutters in the back of the house to the french drain as well. My yard no longer has standing water and none of my building have flooded even with the tropical storms since then.

James and his crew were top notch, and the end product was amazing. I initially called Peace of Green because of the good reviews I saw here on Angie's list. When I called to schedule an appointment for an estimate, the first opening for an estimate was about 1 week out. If you have to wait a few days or a week for the estimate, be patient and you'll be glad you waited. I am so glad I waited for Peace of Green to be available. These are the guys you want doing your work. James listened to what I wanted and put together some photos to illustrate the concept. I could tell he listened to what I was asking for, and he filled in the blanks perfectly. I had shopped around a few estimates before calling Peace of Green. I found the estimate very competitive. James was also able to articulate his vision of the final product better than the other landscapers I spoke to about this job. James and his crew were courteous and professional at all times. I was also pleased with the pace of the work. I couldn't have been happier with the final product. The landscaping is awesome, and I have gotten many compliments from our neighbors. The irrigation system is also great. Overall, this was a great experience. I would definitely recommend Peace of Green to anyone.

I called James office on a Thursday and attempted to schedule an appointment, unfortunately my schedule didn't work with his so he offered to come out Saturday morning. James was on-time and had a estimate done in minutes. Over the weekend I received a formal estimate from his office and by Monday afternoon I was on the schedule to have my project done. James team came out about a week and half later and completed the job in two days. It was a great experience and the finished work looks better than I originally anticipated.

I found Peace of Green here and was intrigued by the photos of their work and philosophy, so I called on a Friday afternoon to schedule an estimate. James made himself available the next day - first thing Saturday morning. We discussed ideas as to what would work and a price range. A few days later he provided a plan, which was refined after a couple of discussions, and we scheduled a start date. I was out of town while the work was being done, and wasn't sure what to expect in terms of how complete the project would be when I arrived back home. I was very pleasantly surprised that the entire project was complete and looked fabulous -- it only took a few days. After living with an unsightly area for so long, I was thrilled how quickly James was able to transform it. James extended the slate patio, removed a walkway that didn't match anything, created raised rock beds for some plants, and put down some grass and a crepe myrtle tree. It is simple yet elegant, makes the area seem so much larger, and works with my lifestyle -- taking into consideration my dogs who have been known to destroy plants and landscaping. I am very pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend Peace of Green. They are highly responsive and easy to work with!

I would recommend Peace of Green to anyone who wants a great looking lawn and gardens. When the old lawnman was cutting corners and using dull blades, we switched to Peace of Green because of the great report in Angies List. We simply couldn't believe how they transformed our yard! It was amazing, and, they are conscientious enough to take care of edging, trimming, and dead growth removal. We are very pleased and will continue using them.

Boy are these guys fast! Once my deposit was paid, the team was out the very next week and the job was completed just as I expected. The team was professional and made sure I was happy with their work.

Peace of Green was excellent to work with. James came out a day after I called and walked the yard with me and provided recommendations to improve my landscaping. I also had water pooling on the side of my house so we talked about digging up the grass and putting in stones to help the irrigation. James gave me and estimate and sent over the invoice the next day. Then James and his crew were over at the house two days later and all of the work was finished in a day. The yard looks excellent! The price was probably slightly more than some of the other crews that will come out, but the quality work that James performs is unmatched and totally worth the money. We are thinking of updating some landscaping in the backyard and will be sure to call James and Peace of Green when we need that work done. Everything was very professional and explained to me in laymans terms. I would recommend James service to anyone!

I contacted James, he gave me a verbal estimate and then followed up with a picture that reflected our discussion. I asked for a few adjustments and he provided me with a new picture that was exactly what I needed. James then provided me with an invoice and a scheduled start date. James began the work ahead of schedule. The landscaping, retaining wall, and the sprinkler system exceeded my expectations. James was available to answer my questions and the final result is excellent. I would recommend Peace of Green if you are in need of quality landscaping and responsiveness.

We had a very mixed experience with Peace of Green: we liked the quality of their work but dealing with both their office staff and the work crew was quite frustrating. My husband first met James for the estimate and immediately liked working with him. For the next couple of days, we attempted getting a written estimate from them, which proved to be unnecessarily difficult: our last name was wrong three times in a row on the estimate and already by that time we thought about walking away considering the sum of money we were planning to spend. During a phone call trying to resolve this issue, James' office assistant refused to speak to me about the issue and the services we wanted done and, to my great displeasure and annoyance, insisted instead on speaking only to my husband. After completion of the work at our house, we were informed that this person had severe health issues at that time that impacted her work. However, we did not know this at the time. We hoped this lack of professionalism would stop in their office, but it unfortunately extended to the crew who worked on our yard. We came home two evenings in a row to finding trash strewn across our yard, soda cans and water bottles carelessly thrown in several flower beds (and which were not picked up by the crew after their evening clean up), and most surprising of all for a landscaping company, the crew repeatedly coiled the hose right on top of a small camelia bush, thereby significantly damaging it. I spoke to the workers about not putting the hose on the plants, but they persisted in their carelessness. I then put a tomato cage and a sign on the camelia plant, only to find the hose thrown on the next plant in the flower bed the next day. I can honestly say that the company who re-roofed our house did a better job at preserving the existing plants in our yard than Peace of Green. Lastly, the crew had an inexperienced driver driving the truck with the trailer: he managed to back the trailer straight into our front fence and damaging it on the first day, and on the second day, he backed the trailer into my husband's car which was parked 2 houses down. To be fair, James responded quickly and fairly to these last 2 accidents by having the crew repair our fence at no cost and paying for the deductible for the car, but all of these are incidents I was not expecting from a company so highly rated on Angie's List. It also made us loose time dealing with car insurances and having the car in the shop for several days. We were pleased with the actual end product and the quality of the work, but all of the incidents around the work put us off of Peace of Green. We will consequently not be using them again as we are confident another company could have done as good of a job with less destruction to our property.

I recently contracted with Earth Ideas Landscaping, Houston, TX to install a new sprinkler system in my yard. Initially Brian Blalock (owner) came out to give me a quote on the sprinkler system and some additional work I was considering. I chose to accept the lump sum quote on the sprinkler system only. Although taxes were listed on the original quote, I believed that was on the yard work items only. However, the final quote also listed taxes so when the down payment was picked up, I asked about the tax and informed the company person that according to Texas law (seehttp://www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxpubs/tx94_112.html), taxes are not added to a lump sum contract for new construction (new sprinkler systems). The office staff person told me that they always tax on lump sum contracts for installation of sprinkler systems. I then sent them a copy of the Texas law on this topic. Consequently, I was sent a split invoice that listed the labor and supplies separately using the original lump sum. Because they clearly just split the initial lump sum into two parts, I suspected that the amount assigned as materials may not be accurate. After this, I repeatedly requested a copy of the warrantee and an itemized list of the materials used. When I refused to sign off on the job until I received an itemized receipt and a final inspection and necessary adjustments were made, Brian Blalock called and became belligerent with my request for an itemized receipt, stating that he was not obligated to give me an itemized receipt. At that time he informed me that he had subcontracted out the work and the warrantee was with the subcontractor not Earth Ideas. I was under the impression from what is stated on Angie’s List for this company that they did not subcontract out their work. Brian also led me to believe that Earth Ideas was the company responsible for the work during our previous conversations. On August 11, 2012, the subcontractor and Brian Blalock met with me to make the final adjustments to the system and give me the warrantee. I again requested an itemized receipt for the materials. According to the subcontractor, he cannot find the receipt and did not deliver a receipt to Brian. This brings into question how Brian came to the amount that I was charged tax on. To date, I still have not received a receipt or heard anything else about this. I believe that Earth Ideas is illegally charging taxes on this type of work and taxes are not based on the amount of materials used.
