The rep was here at the agreed time. He made notes about the job as we walked the property. The company had a quote to us with in a day of his visit.

It started off not so well because of some miscommunication about the design and layout of the garden. The team did not leave until the work was done to my satisfaction. Everything turned out perfectly. Their professionalism impressed me the most through the experience.

James showed up with an iPad and was able to show what each option would looks like with pictures of the plants superimposed on photo of our house. This certainly helps visualizing the outcome. Along with the decent price compared to others (not cheapest but not most expensive) and Jame's good suggestions on plant choices; we chose them for the job. They have been very responsive both during and after the work. The night after they put in sprinkler system, my wife noticed water all over our lawn. We call James at 8pm and he showed up an hour later to fix the leak caused by a contractor not waiting for sealant to dry completely before working with the pipe, While it's their mistake, the fact that the owner showed up at night to fix crew's mistake is a nice mark for me. 6 months later in July, we noticed a 1 yard x half yard dry patch in the middle of our lawn. Turns out the rotating heads on corners of our small lawn didn't really reach the middle (perhaps the water pressure is now less than when first installed). I sent a picture to James, wondering if I'll be asked to pay to add a nozzle in the middle of the lawn. He sent Scott to take a look and was able to fix it by raising the height of 2 of the sprinkler heads, making they reach farther. Now the spot is gone. All in all, the work didn't go without a hitch, but in our opinion James and crew more than made up for them by their promptness in address the two mentioned issues. My wife is happy with the choices of plants suggest by James, and we will use their services again as well as recommend it to anyone.

Project went as planned; seems so far to be effective.

Called the number solely based on Angie's review and no one answered. Left a message and didn't get a call back until 3 days later. Upon mentioning Angie's List, I was offered 5% off. Want to schedule for an in-house estimate but won't happen until weekend. I proceed to schedule for Saturday morning with a little hesitation. But later the week, I called them to cancel the appointment. I'm not happy with no one answering phone calls, slow return of calls and long wait for estimate. Not living up to their Angie's List reviews. Same as the other irrigation company in my other review, they may have forgotten that this is a family business and we are the foundation of their success. Focusing on customer service and you will go a long way in any business.

Overall a very nice job. The drainage worked great and was less than another quote we received as well as a better design. The stone work on the flower beds were top notch. My only complaint is that they took our deposit and we had to wait for several weeks for them to start. I know this company is busy, but don't take my money and hold it for 2 weeks. Other than that, we like them so much we hired them to do our lawn maintenance. So far no complaints.

The guy that came out was able to show designs for us to choose from. They did a great job as our landscapers so we hired to them to maintain our yard. They were really nice to work with during the landscaping process but they dropped the ball when it came to our weekly visits to cut our lawn and maintain my garden. The company responded to the emails or calls quickly but they were not reliable. I would not use them in the future.

We ended up paying them extra for additional service that they provided me. The guy that came out was nice and polite. They have fair prices and they provided me a good service.

It all began with Jennifer in the office setting appointment for Mike to come out for a bid for concrete work,root barrier,garden design and tree removal estimates. I changed what I wanted done a couple of times so Mike had to come back out. In the end all I hired them for was the concrete work. The job was delayed by rain and when I called to reschedule I decided to add another piece of concrete to the job,which resulted in Mike having to come out again. Mellanie scheduled him and he did not show.Apparently it didn't get on his schedule.At that point the scheduling and communication became a little difficult. I called Mike and asked if he and I could just do this between the two of us and he agreed. First the demo crew showed as scheduled and I requested they not use the Bobcat for the walkway and tear up the yard.Mike called and offered to re-sod that side of the yard,but I declined and he said no problem,we will do it by hand and jackhammer. After that George the concrete guy and crew showed as scheduled,did a great job and took time to do a great clean up as well. When the job was done George asked for a check andI said I would call the office and put it on a credit card. Mellanie said there was a 3% fee to charge because "that is what they charge us".It was the first I had heard of this,and being in excess of $3000 I was surprised.She said maybe I can get the fee waived and asked what the job price was. Mellanie wasn't sure so she looked it up and quoted the price from the estimate whish is a few hundred more than the final bill.I was beginning to get upset and she put me on speaker,then either hung up on me or I got disconnected.But none ever called back. I went out and paid George by check.Mellanie tries to be pleasant,but is confrontational and maybe should leave the phones to Jennifer.A week later she sent an email trying to apologize but didn't,instead blaming weather and her having to do the "grunt work". All in all,Mike,George and the crews all did a great job,and everything thay said they would do.And at a good price.I would have given all "A"s in grading if I had not butt heads with Mellanie,for which I will take responsibility for part of.But the customer is always right,no?

I called James on Monday morning. We set up an appointment with his company for later that afternoon. Scott arrived on time and was extremely nice. Scott then called back on Tuesday to set up an appointment on Wednesday to have their "sprinkler guy" come take a look at our system to determine the repair cost. So far, after dealing with much less professional individuals, I am extremely happy and have a really good feeling about this company. I will update you as the work is complete. I noticed that this particular company had a great deal of reviews on Angie's List which was really helpful.

We had discussed the work and were scheduled to have work done on a particular date. However, we had company that was coming prior to that date and needed the work done earlier. I spoke with Stephanie, and she worked out the schedule. The guys showed up and got the job done in one day. The yard looks fantastic. They did everything that was discussed just as we had expected. They did a great job in a timely manner and cleaned up everything when leaving.

Company was originally hired 9 months ago to do regular weekly law maintenance. Over the time, the service quality has declined. James, the owner, provided that his higher cost for service would be reflected in predictable, timely visits and additional service, such as organic fertilizer and weed killers to be applied regularly and as needed. This was not an extra charge. During the 9 months, they NEVER applied any lawn products and merely cut the grass and trimmed the edges, many times in 10 minutes or less. Since I have dogs int he backyard, James was notified up-front that regularly scheduled days was important so that the dogs could be locked inside. While the company was timely in the fall and winter, starting this spring, crew would show up on completely random days and times. FOUR times, they left the gates unlocked and THREE times the dogs got loose. Had I not been in the area, the dogs would not have been caught quickly. On the final visit, the dogs got loose and the crew made absolutely NO effort to try to stop or catch the dogs. Seeing that there is no "premium value" for the extra cost that they charge, I have decided not to use the company any longer.

Peace of Green was very responsive and did a great job. They were very knowledgeable and went above and beyond the original scope. They are a little expensive, but worth it.

The experience was great. James and his company will also be doing the weekly maintenance on the lawn. I cannot express how pleased I am with the entire process from start to finish. There are a few minor detail items to complete but I have full confidence everything will completed to my full satisfaction. I have already referred James to two of my friends and he has already met one of them. I spoke to three (3) other landscaping companies, got their designs and quotes but I chose James over all other. I felt very comfortable with James and I am 100% convinced I made the right decision to go with Peace of Green and James Hill the owner. I feel he cares about his customers and his business. I have evern asked James to make a sign to put in my front yard as I am proud to display a sign for him. The front yard of the house looks great but the back is fantastic. It feel like a little oasis back there. I wanted the front yard to look clean and simple. It turned out just the way I wanted it...not too much or over the top. I can't say enough about the back yard...it is just outstanding. I would highly recommend Peace of Green to anyone. With James, I feel confident if something does go wrong, he will be there to correct it. Just give him a chance. He does care in my opinion. What more can you ask.

They put down pavers in my backyard and on my walk-through there were pavers cracked right in the middle of the job. It was a large area and there were pavers cracked in the middle. If I hadn't gone out there and caught it they would have said the job was completed. They had to come in and dig it out. It was right in the middle and they continued to put pavers down around cracked pavers. So they had to come in and literally chip it out with mechanical tools. You couldn't have missed that, so overall, I wouldn't recommend them. The owner's wife and two kids came up and finished the installation. I got several estimates and their price was the lowest, which does not always mean it's the best thing.

Researched landscapers on Angie's List. Called several. James, owner of Peace of Green, actually showed up when he said he would to discuss my project. We talked about what I wanted and he gave several good suggestions. James sent a quote with a computer generated picture showing what the new landscape would resemble. We discussed and I agreed to get HOA approval. Workers showed up to take down fence...with no advance notice. Not optimal, but the work began. The next week the crew began taking down the fence and replacing with a horizontal cedar fence and gate, demolishing the existing sidewalk and pavers, adding dirt and leveling the front yard, adding plants, a tree, mulch, and a landscape paver path to the gate, as well a placing boulders all around the perimeter of the yard. Even with a few hiccups from the HOA, the job got done. The work is very well done. The only area that I would advise Peace of Green to improve on is communication with the client. Good job! July 18, 2013 update: After just 2 months of very minimal use, the back gate literally fell down. The hinges were nailed in, not screwed, and pulled right out of the fence. I emailed Peace of Green on May 31st and got a response back that they had some free time the following week to come out and look at the gate. On July 1st I emailed Peace of Green again and received an email stating they'd be out "tomorrow". No one showed up or called. I had surgery on July 3rd, so I'm not exactly sure which day Peace of Green showed up (3rd? 5th?). My friend/caretaker was appalled at my gate situation and called them and demanded they come out to fix the gates. Someone did come back and put screws in the hinges and fixe the wood that had pulled out of the fence when the gate fell down. There was a header board that was also warped like crazy and they screwed that down as well. Although the gate is operational, it still isn't going to last. Just looking at the way it was attached to the fence tells me that. Both front and back gate are warped as well. Currently I am looking for a company to repair the front gate and rebuild the back gate.

At the front door there's a place for seasonal plants and I had asked for the soil to be turned and some fresh soil and mulch to be worked in. When I started planting seasonal flowers only then did I realize that mulch had be lightly spread across the existing hard soil. Also, they said that they would be here to do the work on a certain day and on that day called and said that the existing job they were on had to go over the original time line due to the customer wanting more done than originally contracted. This happened 2 times and every time they called to let me know what was going on. Contracting a time line after a job walk is part of a job scope, if a job goes over then it's cutting into the next customers schedule. I happened to be the next customer, so I had to wait, which wasn't the end of the world BUT left me thinking Peace of Green might not be as organized as I first thought. I rearranged my schedule. A final bill was left for me on the front porch. I picked it up and put it in my file to be paid when I was to pay the rest of my bills. I received a ph. call stating that they needed my ck. right away, could I please pay them the balance because they needed to pay their workers. Calling me and asking for the money just didn't seem very professional and wasn't discussed with me at the original job walk. As a paying customer, I had already paid almost 2/3rd's of the contracted amount, so I am confused with the idea that they thought I might not pay the final amount, which made me grimace. I just wanted to be done with the whole job and move on, it had already taken more of my time than I had originally planned on so I wrote them a ck.. I have put off writing this review b/c I thought James and his mother were very personable people and I knew my review wouldn't be a stelar review. I did like the work the workers did, they did work very hard as well as got my job done w/in the time we talked about before the job began....just started later than I put on my calendar.

I contacted the company on Monday for a total yard cleanup on my deceased father's vacant property. I spoke with an older lady who asked a multitude of questions. She seemed quite unfamiliar with the workings of the company and how jobs were scheduled. After spending 6 minutes on the line, she stated she would have Jim give me a call back. She assured me there should be no problem servicing the property since there were others lawns they maintained in the same 77019 area. Today is Friday and still i have received no call back from the lady or Jim.

I was very disappointed at the lack of professionalism.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with James of Peace of Green. The entire process went smoothly. Initially, I interviewed a total of 4 different landscape companies in order to find the right group of professionals. James and his crew showed up on time for every appointment - can't downplay how important this is. The crew cleaned up after themselves everyday and were extremely hard working the entire time they were on the property. James' ideas and design elements were the best out of all the other highly rated companies I called out. He was very knowledgeable about his craft and knew exactly what I wanted and was looking for. Courteous, respectful, on-time, budget conscious and very reasonable with his prices, if you are looking for landscaping I would highly recommend giving Peace of Green a call. I will definitely use him again with my future projects.

For the past few years I have used several landscaping services in Houston area. Some were good but unreasonably expensive and the cheaper ones did a lousy job. A Peace of Green was reasonable in their pricing and did a fantastic job. They were on time and finished the job as promised. I was impressed enough with the initial work that I asked Mr. Hill to expand the job. I intend to call on him again in the Spring for additional work. James you do a great job! Don't change a thing.

Overall this was a straight-forward project and this company was easy enough to work with. We had an engineer recommend an herbicidal root barrier (Bio-Barrier brand) to mitigate some foundation problems at least partially caused by trees in our front yard. We contacted Earth Ideas, and they came out and gave us an estimate. After scheduling initially they had to reschedule due to some recent heavy rains, but on the appointed day they showed up on time and set to work. The crew worked diligently and had the job completed relatively quickly. Afterward they cleaned everything up neatly, and even hauled off some unwanted shrubbery gratis. The bill was what they quoted me; there were no surprises. I would have given them an "A" for professionalism except for the fact that 1) they were supposed to give me a quote broken down into two projects and just gave me one quote (not a big deal) and 2) I'm having to keep after them for a copy of my final invoice/bill (again, not a huge deal, the work is done, I just want to have the record of it). Overall I'm happy with everything so far, and I'd hire them again.

The job went very well with a beautiful result. James' bid was very competitive and he was responsive to my concerns about the project. He had a professional stone mason do the actual installation of the flagstone. They installed a flagstone walkway/courtyard at the front entrance to my home and a gravel circular driveway. A rock edge was placed around the driveway and flagstone. Drainage issues were taken care of and they even installed a drain to go under the walkway at no additional charge. Gutters were connected to the drains as well, again at no extra charge. A larger drainage pipe was installed running from the side of our house to the curb. The crew worked very hard and were business-like with no fooling around or wasting of time, while also being friendly and responding to our questions and comments. After completion the area was left very neat and clean. The only negative is that I didn't always know when they were coming or not coming. Communication with James could have been better during the work phase, but that is minor considering the high quality of the work performed and the reasonable price. We are very pleased with how the work turned out, the appearance of our front door entrance is much improved.

The intitial installation of the drainage system appeared to go well with all work being performed in a single day. James was unavailable to do a personal inspection at the time of installation but came by at a later date. Prior to Jame's inspection we had noticed one drain that appeared to have been placed a little too high. During Jame's inspection he corrected this issue and also noticed additional work that did not meet his standard. He uncovered the drain pipe and was not satsified with the placement and immediatley arrranged for a crew to come out and correct the issue. This was done at no additional expense to me even though it took almost an entirte day of a full crew to correct the issue. James also stated that if we had any issue with the system to call and they would gladly fix the system at their expense. James takes a high level of pride in the service and work he performs and takes it personally when there is an issue. He believes in satisfying the customer and living to the quotes and estimates he proivides for the requested work. I would recommend James for any landscaping task and feel confident that he would not take on a task that he is not confident in performing above the clients expectations. It is good to know there are companies that understand the concept of integrety, accountabilty and demonstrate a true Texas work ethic.
