 + -1 moreWork was completed sooner then promised. It looks brand new. With bleaching, they were able to change the color to closely match a color I picked out on their color chart. I have the following complaints: 1. Pick Up and Delivery Fee, Their rationale for it is that they are losing time and staff from the work site to provide this service. I do not feel it is justified with high cost repairs. Mine was $2930.00. I live 17 mi from their work site. It only took 2 people to pick up and again to deliver. It took approximately 15 minutes each time.

 + -1 moreAwful. The first time the had it over 3 months. Never answers the phone, phone message mailbox always full. Doesn't answer email. Finally getting it back it had an awful film on it. Called them and they said they had a bad batch of refinishing liquid and they would redo it but put us off for months. Then took it. Had it 6 more weeks. Had to push very hard before a big event at our house. Terrible attitude and service. Looks just ok. Not great. Go at your own risk!!

 + -1 moreThey picked up my coffee table on 9/29/2014 to refinish it. They refinished it and I was unhappy with the work. They took it back and told me they would refinish it again. Darla is the person that I have been dealing with for the whole process. It is now 2/25/2016 and I have been trying to get the table back since December of 2015. I told them that I would come and pick the table up and Darla threatened me and told me that I could not come and get my table. She told me she would bring it to me, but that she would charge me $200 to bring it to me - I OFFERED TO PICK IT UP.

 + 0 moreI have cherry stained Kent Moore maple cabinets in my kitchen. The cabinets had faded pretty severely around the areas where we opened them. I tried several DIY fixes I found online that only made the cabinets look worse. I talked to a couple of cabinet companies, including one that came to my home to look in person, who told me that nothing could be done other than refinishing my cabinets to restore their original beauty. The lowest quote I received was $2900 to refinish my cabinets. Then, I found Griffith Furniture Refinishing. They came to my home and were able to make my cabinets look brand new using mineral spirits and many different colors of spray stain. I was thrilled with the results and the low price of $400. They went the extra mile and cleaned all of the cabinets as well, not just the portions they had to touch up. I wish I could post before and after pictures here; the results were so good.
Description of Work: Dan and a helper came to my home and touched up all of my kitchen cabinets.

Description of Work: I had a smal spot that needed to be fixed. In the process of fixing it when was almost done, the technician damaged my furniture. He needed to schedule a pick up of the dresser and take it to the shop to fix his mistake. When they returned it, we have notice the poor quality of the job, and when I called Darla to explained it to her she was not pleasant at all. We ended up paying just portion of the invoice. I would NOT recommend them to anyone.

 + -1 moreI can't say enough about the craftsmanship and wonderful work done by the Griffith team - once they were finished I wasn't able to detect where the problems had been - the furniture was in wonderful shape and looked brand new. Darla was very prompt with communication and kept me in the loop throughout the process. The work was completed on time and within the estimate which, for the amount of work that they did, was very reasonable. Mr. Griffith and the rest of the team were very professional and I could immediately tell they knew what they were doing - they are truly craftsman who appreciate good furniture and know how to take care of it. I highly recommend Griffith Furniture Refinishing and I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: This service provider did an excellent job of repairing some deep gouges in a cherry credenza as well as taking care of numerous scratches and other issues with a cherry desk and end table.

Description of Work: I called the people at Griffith Refinishing to refinish my family's dining room table and chairs, which have been passed down to me from my great-aunt and parents. This set is quite old and had been refinished and re-upholstered before. Griffith came out to look at the set and quoted me a price of $3500 for the repair (some of the chairs were coming unglued), refinishing and re-upholstery of the set and the and the making of one leaf that had been lost over time. We agreed to have them do the work, and they came out the next week to pick up the set. This was at the end of July. They said that it would probably not be done until just before Thanksgiving. I was to provide the fabric and trim for the upholstery. A couple of weeks later, I called about delivering the fabric and was told that they were beginning the work and would probably be done early. They communicated with me by text, including photo's, about the progress of the work. When I was nervous about the color of the finish, they were quick to suggest that I come out and see for myself and were concerned that I be happy with the work. It was beautiful! And, two weeks later, the chairs were re-upholstered and they delivered my table and chairs back to me. I am still waiting for the leaves, but the work they did was very professional and they were quite enthusiastic about the old wood and style of the table, which makes me feel that they know what they are doing and appreciate craftsmanship and preserving these things for future generations. I am very happy with the communication and level of service as well as the finished product and would happily use them in the future!

Description of Work: They refinished an antique whiskey cabinet that belonged to my great-grandfather. They did a great job and it looks beautiful! They were careful not to break the original glass in the doors. Punctuality was not an issue because if you want restoration work to be done correctly, you cannot be in a hurry!

 + -1 moreThey showed up on time to collect the chest of drawers It was in a bad way with glue clearly having died over the 200 years or so since it was built. Several decorative pieces were just missing. They took it apart, got everything fully back together again, nice and tight, remanufactured the missing decorative pieces, found a matching handle to replace one that was missing etc. It looks as good as new. They completed the job when they said they would (about 2 weeks) and got it delivered back to me, up in my living room. This is not the only time I have used Griffith to refinish / fix up older furniture. He fixed up my dining chairs (that were getting so wobbly they were dangerous) and he refinished a small dining table for me as well and recovered an old ottoman for me. I am always impressed by their workmanship and reliability. I will certainly call them again if I need furniture restoration work doing.

I have these chairs that were in a painting by Degas that came from the New Orleans Cotton Exchange; they are really one of a kind. My husband brought all six of them home, thinking we could salvage one chair from the six; that's how badly damaged they were. They put all of them back together; every single one and we use them every day. They are just wonderful. The father did Abraham Lincoln's high chair for the White House. They don't advertise and are all by word of mouth. The pricing is competitive and their work is just superior. Their store is in a subdivision and they are family oriented. They have refinished 9 pieces of furniture for me in the past seven years. My mother-in-law is an antique dealer and I have worked in antiques since I was 14, so I have seen a lot of people who say they do restorations, but nobody could have done what this man did. He put together chairs that had 16 pieces. They were water warped and falling part, every time you touched them another piece of wood fell off. He took all of them and put them all back together. It was a puzzle and they look magnificent. They are my pride and joy and I brag about them all of the time.
Description of Work: I used Griffith Furniture Refinishing to fix six antique chairs that were water damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

 + -1 moreI was happy with the service and the timing, but I had a hard time with the $600 bill. That just seemed really high to be to fix a leg on a nice piece of furniture. But I didn't shop around for a better deal and just wanted someone who could come to my house to fix the piece. I have full confidence that the leg won't be breaking again.
Description of Work: They fixed the leg on my faluty media cabinet that had been fixed incorrectly twice before. They offered a great solution to keep this from happening again.

 + -1 moreThere was a bit of a problem with the scheduling of the delivery when the job was completed the first time since they like to deliver the finished product when they're in the area (Galleria/Memorial) and it didn't co-inside with when I was at home. Mr. Griffith made a special trip on a Saturday to deliver the end table. Since he did such a great job with the refinishing of the first end table, which had been water damaged, I had him refinsih it's twin and also refinish the top of a small bureau and replace a broken foot. Since there was a a bit of a problem scheduling the first delivery, I went to pick up these two pieces since they were fairly small. Mr. Griffith and his daughter Darla were very accomodating. Mr. Griffith does a wonderful job and appreciates working on good furniture.
Description of Work: Mr. Griffith beautifully refinished two rosewood end tables and refinished and repaired a small bureau.

 + -1 moreThe piece is now gorgeous, and the refinish cost a fraction of what a comparable new desk would have cost. They also provided pick-up and delivery service, which was essential since I couldn't fit the desk in my car.
Description of Work: They picked up and then delivered when finished) a wood desk that needed major refinishing. They removed several coats of paint to discover that the top was actually laminate and not wood, as expected. However, despite this hiccup, they managed to create a beautiful stained finish on the top which blended beautifully with the new finish they applied to the bamboo legs.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. They are very affordable and the quality of work is unspeakable.
