OH MY GOSH! IF ONLY I HAD NOT BELIEVED HIM! I believe his "company" consists of only himself (the salesman) and one other person who runs the office. I believe all the actual "work" is contract labor for which he carries no responsibility or liability == even though he promised me his company and the work were "TOP QUALITY WITH TOP QUALITY PRODUCTS AND ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED TO MEET MY COMPLETE SATISFACTION. He also told me his company was listed on ANGIE'S LIST! ALL NOT TRUE! He did not pay attention to the landscape of our yard. He put in the system improperly, causing dry and excessively wet areas. He did not calculate proper coverage of the yard or consider high and low areas of the grade. It does put "water in the yard but not in a systematic way. We have had to turn off some sprinklers while other areas of the yard are dying due to lack of coverage. He put 8 sprinkler heads in two pathways that I told him were going to be rocked in and would not need watering, AND THEN CHARGED ME $200 to have a man come out and disengage those 8 heads. He told me that "disengaging" was not part of his "installing" job. He also wanted me to pay extra for a head to be placed in the area not receiving water but I would not so it remains dying. He placed the control box in the LOWEST PLACE in the yard so that when we get a lot of rain it fills with water and does not drain out. He told me to get a jar and scoop out the standing water.....that it was not his responsibility. He also had the audacity to tell me that he suggested that I have the back yard "regraded" so that there would not be low areas to become marshy due to the over abundance of water being applied. The electrical box was improperly installed as well and he told me to do the wiring and put the box where I wanted it would "cost extra" ( about $179, I believe). I will now have to pay an electrical contractor to do this install for me. To top it all off, the turf he installed was infested with SEDGE. (I researched it to find out what kind of "grass' it was because it was surely not St. Augustine over all.) It has taken me a year to get my yard "feeling" better. It is still not what it used to be.
Description of Work: My lush and beautiful back yard died due to our recent drought. This "company" was to remove all the dead turf, put in a complete sprinkler system (front and back yards) and reinstall top grade St. Augustine grass.

I'm still debating whether to take him to small claims court.
Description of Work: 1. Tree trimming and removal - 2 of the trees are back 2. Fence repair - overcharged, did not clean up and now the gate won't open (5 months old) 3. Landscaping - did not do all of the work contracted and 5 out of the 8 plants that he did supply died.

I know you've heard this type of thing thousands of times, but here is another fiasco that happened because I did not use Angie's List FIRST. DON'T USE GREENTHINGS LANDSCAPING FOR ANY JOBS!They were to remove all dead sod, install an 8-station sprinkler system and install new top-grade sod. 1. They installed only a 6-station sprinkler system.2. The original price was not adhered to. [An increase of $1000 was requested in the middle of the job. The back yard had been stripped, the sprinkler system was half way in place and there was no sod at all one day when I got home from work. When I told the representative, "Charles", I could only afford $700 more he took my check and continued with the sod installation but used poor quality sod (full of weeds), which he had promised me would not happen with "Greenthings Landscaping." 3. They do not answer my phone calls. 4. The electrical box is not installed properly. [The electrical box remains hooked up by my own extension cord instead of being wired to the garage electrical system as I was told it would be.] 5. The sod is poor quality. [The yard is over 50% nut grass.] 6. I did not get a written estimate! This is my fault but I doubt that it would have made any difference in the way things worked out. As I mentioned above the back yard was stripped down to dirt and the sprinkler system halfway in place when I got home from work. I was not informed that work would commence while I was gone nor was I told on what day it would be done. I paid 1/2 of the cost quoted to me ($3400.00) before the job started with the other 1/2 due upon my "complete satisfaction" of the completed job. This is where I went wrong in the first place. ( Actually not true, I should have joined Angie's List right then and checked up on the lies he had told me.) On the day I came home from work to find the job already under way, the representative, Charles, made me pay ALL of the cost UPFRONT, + the extra $700, because "he had expenses" and was giving me such a "good, unheard of in this area - deal." I didn't see anything at that desperate moment that I could do but to continue onward and give Charles what he wanted. No other company would repair the mess they'd made of the yard. Charles, was extremely rude when I confronted him. He turned his back on me and walked off smoking his cigarette thus leaving the job incomplete and me wondering what was gong to happen The yard is over 50% nut grass. I imagine I will have to resod the whole back yard again to get rid of it.The electrical box remains hooked up via the extension cord instead of being wired to the garage. This complany is NOT "5 star" as I was told it was. In fact it isn't listed on any service list that I can find. I was told they were on Angie's list but that was a lie. I could go on but this is a summary of the horrendous experience I had with Greenthings Landscaping.
Description of Work: Remove all dead sod from back yard and replace with new.Install sprinkler system for front and back yards.
