This morning, I awoke to find our electricity shut off. The fridge was off, the stove, etc. We couldn't cook anything or see anything. We called to see if there was something wrong with our account, and found out that our automatic bill pay didn't go through when my credit card got updated. I receive emails from Green Mountain all the time showing what my current bill, costs to date and projected bill is. But I received NO notification that anything was wrong with my payment - either by email, by paper or by phone. When I contacted them, they told me it's not their policy to notify customers when automatic bill pay doesn't go through. I guess they think it's better customer service to just shut people's electricity off. But I have a problem with that. If I had left early enough that I didn't notice, I would have come home to a fridge full of spoiled food. How about people who need electricity for life-saving equipment? Reliable customer service and providing electricity is not a joke. I thought that perhaps we owed thousands of dollars on the account and perhaps this is why they decided to shut off electricity without giving notice - But no - we owed just $90. There are plenty of providers that take their job to provide electricity seriously. I paid the bill immediately and switched providers the second I came into work. I was surprised to find a plan that was also 100% green, but costs $0.12 per KwH instead of the $0.18 I have been paying Green Mountain for 10 years now. So in the end they were a rip off as well.
Description of Work: We have been customers of Green Mountain Energy for 100% Green energy for about 10 years. They provided electricity to our current home and our previous home.
