GONZO PLUMBING

Description of Work: I had met with Gonzo plumbing and we had gone over the details of the work and I received an estimate and a starting date for Gonzo to manage the replacement of our homes entire leaky steel pipe with a Wisbro Pex plumbing system. This was a big plumbing job and I was paying cash. He said that he had done this type of work before. I had some concerns that it was perhaps over his head on this but he convinced me that this was right up his alley and that he had the experience to do the job right. I also made it clear that the schedule we had was critical because the home was being re-sided and a room addition was being added and this would create exceptional access to the plumbing in the walls during the two week period planned for the work. I am an engineer with extensive home renovation and project management experience and was taking the two weeks off to assist and supervise the work and the other contractors had bought into the complete project as part of their bid. We went through my detailed drawings for the work together and I purchased all materials necessary myself. Gonzo did not seem familiar with working with plans and drawings and I realized I was going to need to closely supervise the overall work, but still thought he could do a good job. The home is a two story 2400 sq. ft. residence. On the morning of scheduled work commencement, Gonzo was a no-show. After several calls, he finally showed up and told me that he could not do the work. No reason provided, no warning provided. With this level of professionalism, I had no desire to 'push' him to do the work. Gonzo was obviously a mistake to depend on. To keep projects on schedule (including my vacation time taken for this) I ended up hiring a manual labor assistant and doing all the work myself. This detracted from my supervision of other work and the total project quality. Gonzo is probably fine for little home projects; fix the toilet, install a faucet, clean the sink trap or replace a pipe or two. Big projects are way out of his league and his lack of professionalism cost me dearly on this project. As evidenced by the final plumbing result of my work, I could have directed him well for a quality job if he had been willing take direction, I would rather have had the experienced pro at PEX retrofit that he declared himself to be, but dropping the ball on the morning of work commencement was very unprofessional.

Description of Work: the drain side of the house was completely re- plumbed (ie, permitted, dug up, and replaced).

Description of Work: Completely re-plumbed hot and cold supplies in 2 bedroom/1 bath home. Removed original galvanized plumbing and replaced with PEX. Added hose bibs and water shut-off.
