I purchased a door from another vender but the hardware was a Buffalo Forge Cast Bronze Handle Set. The set looked great when it arrived but during installation it became apparent the internal mechanisms were of the quality you would expect on a much cheaper door set. At a retail price of $1395 for a door set, I would expect a much better quality. Additionally immediately after installation, the finish began coming off. I would not recommend Glasscraft door H/W

I warn you from doing business with this company. I attempted to purchase an as-is door from their showroom today. The door was in near-perfect condition. I requested they install the door. They told me the door was an as-is purchase, which I fully understood. After I told them I expected the door to be delivered in the same condition it was in on the showroom they said they couldn't guarantee it would be delivered in the same condition and the sale would be final. I wasn't comfortable with this business practice. When I asked to speak with the Manager to discuss further, the salesperson told me they didn't want to do business with me. Be warned and google the reviews on various other consumer review websites.

My contractor picked up the doors for installation. They were covered in plastic wrap and cardboard so they could not be looked at. When he got them back and the installer came, they were a complete mess!! Stain and glue all over the panes of glass. It was pathetic. I would have never allowed for something looking like that to have left my store without some sort of check list. Then I noticed that each pane of glass (6 lite doors double paned which equaled 24 paned of glass) had four lines of etching on it saying tempered glass, etc. I was never told this would appear on the glass, the doors in the showroom did not have this etching on all pieces of glass and the sales book did not have a disclaimer saying that each pane of glass would have the etching in the corner by the bevel. I would have NEVER ordered these doors if I had known they would look like this. I went back and forth for several weeks with some of the ladies up there asking, begging for someone to come out and look at these doors. They are hideous! Finally they sent someone out to clean the glass of glue and stain and he scratched the glass after spending almost three hours cleaning them! It was such a waste of my time. Because I am not a home builder I am a lowly residental customer, I was not given any consideration for the issues. The panes of glass look like there are smudges where the etching was done so negligently and haphazardly, it isn't even straight or even consistent etching on the glass! To put this in every single pane of glass 24 times is ridiculous especially for the crappy job of etching that was done. No one would help me, no one would make a trip out to visually inspect my doors and no one would return my emails other than a customer service person. No one cared. They took my $3800 and basically just hoped I would fade away. Well, I am reporting this company to the BBB and Tx State Atty Genetal. No one should have to spend that kind of money and get treated so badly. Worst company ever in my books. Highly disappointed and you will be too if you spend what I did and got what I got. I have never given a company an F but if it could be WORSE than an F, they would get that rating from me. Residential buyers BEWARE!!!
Description of Work: I had ordered two mahogany, 6 lite, solid wood doors for my front entry. They had them built within two weeks.

My wife and I went to this establishment on Saturday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m.. There were two women sales persons on duty. The store was not busy. Both women were at the front desk when we walked in. We were there at the very specific recommendation of a neighbor who bought her door there and provided the name and address of the store. We had a photo of the neighbor's door, but when we gave this background information, showed the photo to the sales people, and said that we were interested in buying something similar, the sales people insisted that Glass Craft did not supply the door. They were certain of that and seemed bemused to think that we might believe otherwise. They walked away, apathetic to the possibility of a sale, and offered no further assistance until we asked again, at which point they implied that we were interested only in what was in their and quot;reducedand quot; stock. Perhaps this was in response to our casual Saturday-morning attire. They appeared to be snickering at us. One was much more intent upon cleaning doors than helping us. As we were leaving, my wife stopped to say that she did not think that we had gotten good service, felt that we had been dismissed, and just wanted t register that complaint. Her tone was calm, restrained, and respectful -- too much so, I thought. Neither sales person apologized. Instead, amazingly, one of them immediately response, with a smile, and quot;Okayand quot; and stood there looking at us as if anxious for us to leave. At that point were were anxious to oblige. Glass Craft will not get our business.

No work performed, Glass Craft agreed to refund the charge, but after one week haven't received any info on the refund.
Description of Work: Front Door on new home had weathered to the point of needing re-finishing, contacted builder since door was out of warranty, Contacted Glass Craft, and they gave me estimate and I agreed to have the door re-finished, When the worker showed ( he was on time and professional) he advised that the door was split and he could not re-finish, upon further examination and talking with the builder, the "split" was the seam between panels, I feel the company was trying to sell a new door. I am looking at Angiies List to locate another vendor

$189
Response from Glasscraft Door Co
Dear Member, The refund for the amount of $189.44 was processed by GlassCraft on Sept. 25th. It usually takes a minimum of 3 days for a bank to post the credited amount. Please check with your bank and let us know if there's anything else we can do to assist you. We apologize for any inconvenience on your part. GlassCraft Door Company stands by the quality of its products. Based on the photos of the door that you submitted to us and our technician at your home, it would have been wrong and misleading to proceed with the refinishing work. Your wood door is located in an area where it is hit by direct sunlight and is exposed to extreme UV light and we feel that it has passed the point of being able to be refinished, and that the door refinish will not last a substantial amount of time after the refinish work is complete. And we feel that the split would only progress given the location of the door, the extent of heat and sunlight it receives and the state of damage it already has. It is based on these facts that we made the decision not to perform the service work as requested. Thank you for your feedback . Your comments are important to us. If you have further questions or requests, please contact us anytime. Best regards, Matthew O'Shea VP of Operations

Glasscraft had the best selection of anyone we looked at in the area. They were helpful and answered our questions. They even directed us towards a discounted door that was already on the floor. It was exactly what we had wanted (from looking at their catalog online) except for one thing, and we decided that the price difference made that one thing unimportant. Their online catalog deserves another word of praise - it was very complete and easy to use and helped us figure out what we wanted. They came out and measured and were very professional. They could have explained things just a little bit better - once we were making the phone calls to finalize the deal, we found out a few other details that we hadn't known before, but they weren't a big deal. When they came and installed the door, they were punctual, very precise, polite, and cleaned up their mess. The door is beautiful and seems to be very good quality. It is a huge improvement on what we had before. The price is a little high, but apparently all good quality front doors are expensive. Overall we were very satisfied. I would definately recommend this company.

Bought door. They did not deliver on first 2 tries. I did not like door when it came. Got my money back.
Description of Work: I bought a door from Glass Craft's outlet which was on clearance for $350. Solid wood, I could choose the finish. I scheduled delivery 2 times and they never showed up. On the third time, the door was not to my liking. There were drip marks in the finish and the door. They did not install and said they would fix it. I wanted to have a second opinion of a friend when looking at the door after they re-did it and tried to go out there on Saturday to look at it, but that area was not open then. Finally, I asked for a refund and received it easily. Some of the problem was me dragging my feet. I would probably buy from them again, as they had a good selection, but probably again only items on sale because of cost.

We went to their showroom and viewed the available doors. After choosing a door, the sales associate informed us how the process worked. There was a bit of a delay to install the door. The installation turned-out very well. I was somewhat concerned since they had to cut out the orginal door for the frame, but the two men did a great job. They had to match the stain on the frame to the door that we choose. I couldn't have asked for better work.

Sales staff was easy to work with at the showroom. The items on the floor were reduced due to slight imperfections. The irregularities were well worth the savings. We bought a $1500 door for $500 (plus installation and tax). This is quite a savings over ordering the same door from them. As a bonus, the one we chose was unfinished so we got to choose the stain. The installer was on time and did a good job in a reasonable amount of time.

I request Glasscraft to refinish a new door that they had sold and installed at my house a month earlier. This was because the outside finish had gotten some spots on it either from some pesticide spray or the lawn sprinkler. Their charge for the service was $250 plus tax. They told me that the charge to refinish the door on site was so high because it took their technician 3-4 hours to do the job. After some scheduling delay the workman arrived a couple of weeks later. He used some quick spray can type product to spray the door with clear urethane and left in less than a half hour. When he was done the outside door handle and lock set were covered with urethane overspray and the door had a very dull finish. He also sprayed over the dirt and dust that was on the door. A few phone calls later the technician was sent back out to redo the finish and clean the door handle. The guy cleaned half the handle and told us that nothing could be done about the door finish.

They were a little hard to get a hold of on the telephone. He also had to reschedule the time of installation because the door wasn't ready. All the other work was well done and I was satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: They installed a solid wood door to the front of our house.
