 + 0 moreDuring our first meeting with Jeff and Rita, they sketched a plan, created a list of plants they proposed to use, and gave us an estimate before they left our house. (The estimate was the most reasonable we had received.) They started the work as scheduled and finished on the 4th day (we were told it might take a week). The crew worked hard from the moment they got to our house until they left in the evening. We couldn't be more pleased with the work performed by Fresh Start Landscaping ... what they did far exceeded our expectations. Our neighbor (who has an impressive yard) described our new yard as "stunning" and, indeed, it is.
Description of Work: Extensive landscaping (new beds, plants and borders), flagstone, removal of old patio which was replaced with new pavers and a covered pergola

I am not sure whether the company has been sold and the new owner is in over his head, or whether the owners who I spoke with once before (Doug/Cricket) have hired someone who is not representing their company particularly well. In any case, I would not recommend working with Jeff, whose priorities seem to be elsewhere.
Description of Work: I wanted to work with Fresh Start based on the reviews I found on Angie's List. The morning of the first scheduled meeting, my point of contact at Fresh Start, contacted me to tell me he couldn't make our appointment. He was on the other side of town, the rains had been heavy, etc. I thanked him for the heads up and we rescheduled several weeks later. On the morning of the second scheduled appointment, Jeff called again, spent a few minutes trying to build rapport with light banter, then told me he couldn't make it again, because of the rain. This time I said that the rain shouldn't be an issue - we are not doing the work, we are just looking at the yard together so that we can discuss the scope of work and develop an estimate. Jeff got upset, and rather than offering an alternative time to meet, he said, "I don't control the weather". I agreed with him, but suggested again that with or without rain, it should be possible to sit in his car and look at the yard, or we could put on jackets/boots and walk the yard. He was plainly upset, and said he'd have to see whether his guys could get the trailer out. I told him that I didn't understand what a trailer would be needed for, since we were, again, just looking at the yard and discussing needs. He said he'd call me back, and hung up. 30 minutes before the appointment, having not heard back, I called but got no answer. To be safe, I checked out of work and drove 30 minutes home. I called once more, and again no answer. Jeff never called, and never came to the house. After returning to work (waited at home for 45 minutes), I received a text that said, "Thank you for calling. Don't think we will be able to meet your landscaping needs. Have a great day".

 + 2 moreI give Jeff, George and Cricket a big thumbs up, we accepted Fresh Start?s proposal. The work was done in a timely manner and I was totally satisfied as my wife was too with the results. Then we noticed a flood in the front yard. I called and Jeff came back out it ended up to be my main water line was leaking and not the sprinkler system that they had put in. Jeff had dug out the area and pin pointed for me where the leak was at no charge which I felt he had all the right to expect for his service. But, that was not the end I am sure that I was not one of their typical installs. I guess you would call me a problem child because Jeff had to come out two more times. You know when the television won?t work and you call the tv man and he comes out and after a few minutes tells you that it wasn?t plugged in. But he still charges you. I just say that because Jeff came out right away both times and did not charge anything at all. Thank you Cricket, George and especially Jeff for a wonderful job and the peace of mind that I am working with a company that follows up. VERY STRONG ON CUSTOMER SERVICE and Design.  + 1 moreThe team at Fresh Start Landscapes was great. They were very fast to respond and were able to get the job done very quickly. They came out for an estimate after comparing them with the other 2 quotes we received we decided to go with them and we are so happy we did. They were able to schedule our work for the next week. The day of the project they were at the house early and got right to work. When I came home at 5 the patio was in and they were building the fence and adding the side gate. They had all of the work done in 1 day - we were so impressed! We have received so many compliments on the patio and fence! We will definitely be calling them again when are ready to add the pergola over the fantastic patio.

 + 1 moreAfter getting about 6 estimates for porch extensions, I saw some good reviews for Fresh Start Landscaping, so I decided to give them a call to see if I could finally get an estimate within our budget for the work we needed done. The owner came out promptly to give us a free estimate. He actually gave us an estimate on the spot after surveying what work needed to be done. I was so happy, FINALLY it was in our price range!! All the other estimates were RIDICULOUS for the small areas we wanted to extend. As for the work, everything went very well. The owners were great and the staff was very professional and got the job done in only 2 days. We had our front porch extended and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. On the back we had the existing porch extended and they laid flagstone to make one cohesive back porch. It also turned out great. If we ever have any other landscaping work that needs to be done by a professional, they will be the first ones we call! Great job!

After hiring them, I usually dealt with Doug's wife Cricket in hammering out the details of the job ,such as dates, modifications, etc. Both of them were extremely helpful in answering any question or concern. The project was completed in the time frame promised, and it looks absolutely beautiful. Thanks to everyone at Fresh Start.

After they were done, we decided we wanted the lime tree moved, and they came right back out and built a new raised bed and moved the tree, at no additional cost. They are very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I will definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreThey were very responsive on the phone and came out and gave us a great explanation on the quote. He also answered all of my questions very thoroughly and went above and beyond. Once they started the work, they were also very professional. Once the work was done, there was one corner of the flagstone that I was not happy with. We called them back and they were able to come out and fix it right away!
Description of Work: Fresh Start Landscapes covered our existing concrete patio with flagstone and extended it out further. They allowed us to pick out the general color of flagstone that we liked and then picked out the exact stone from the stone distributor for us.

End of conversation. I have since gotten bids and the job will cost around $6,000. He didn't even bother to ask the size of my yard, just said "No Thanks".

When we decided to use them, Doug was able to schedule the job in the next few weeks. He talked to my husband and answered any questions and concerns he had. The job took two days and after it was complete, we had a concern about one of the stones they used on the corner of the patio since it didn't flow with the rest. They were able to come back and fix the issue, completely replace the stone and refinish the edge. Overall, we were satisfied with the service and would recommend this company to a friend!

 + 2 moreFrom the first contact, this company was extremely responsive. I believe my husband called on a Saturday and though she was out of town, Cricket returned the call and set up an appointment for Doug to come out and meet with us. Doug was on time and we presented him with a rough idea of what we wanted. He took measurements, went to his truck and sat and came up with a drawing within an hour and a half. My husband and I talked about it for a week or so and wanted to see what a scaled back version would look like. Doug came back out with a new drawing but we decided to go with the original plan. That was on a Thursday. Doug's crew showed up at 8:30 the following Monday and worked til dark everyday through Saturday and finished the job. Three guys did the work and were consciences, respectful, and deligent. They took great pride in their work as they were taking pictures of it when it was complete. I cannot speak highly enough about our experience and would recommend them in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: A total redo of our backyard. We had nothing back there. They made it beautiful. They removed grass and old shrubs. Installed waterfall with stream leading to pond for fish, a swing arbor, trees, beds, park lights, flagstone walkways.

 + -1 moreIt went perfectly from beginning to end of project. When I called, Cricket answered the phone with a warm friendly yet professional voice. We talked, she asked me about what kind of budget I was thinking of, and we scheduled an appointment for Doug to come. He came on the day and on time from when he was scheduled. After hearing our wishes, he drew a rough sketch and bid the job an hour and a half later. Doug asked for no money down, only payment in full at the ed of the project. The job started on time and was finished in the time projected. I now am enjoying a beautiful yard, and it was all so painless. It was a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend Fresh Start Landscaping.
Description of Work: They removed almost all of my old plants form landscape, redesigned the beds, and planted all new plants in the front and back yard. They moved only about three that I wanted to keep. They also gave me a water feature in the front. In the front he installed rock around the beds; however no rock in the back. He finished the landscaping with nice black mulch.

The owner came out and listened to what I wanted, designed a landscaping layout that he thought would work the best and had it in my hands in less than two hours. The bid was a little higher than a couple others I recieved, but; the design was very good and the professionalism they showed was above the others. The work was started on the day they projected and it was completed without delay. I would recommend them highly..
Description of Work: Completely took out my front flower beds and put in new plants and stone, going from a drab, hard to maintain flower bed, to a southwestern theme that will be easy to maintain. Ran all new sprinkler lines and layed out flagstone.

She explained that she was very busy that day and wanted to try and schedule something later in the week but we declined. We were very disapointed.

 + -1 moreDoug came out to give an estimate within 20 min. He is punctual and professional. His crew is professional and English-speaking. Did not leave any debris or trash considering how big mounts of wood/trash. The back yard looked like a brand new yard with no evidence of over ground plants. Fresh Start is a little pricey when we compared with 3 other quotes but Doug was the most professional one of them all.
Description of Work: demolition of an old wooden deck and abor. Also emoval of brushed and trees. Added grass and level the back yard. Cleaning up and planting new trees.

This company is very professional, not only with Doug who gives you the original estimate (right on the spot I might add) to the workers who show up on time and work long days, but also to their knowledge and understanding of landscape, pavers, plants, etc. I had called no less than 7 companies trying to get my job bid on and completed and Fresh Start came through. You will not be disappointed in this first-rate company!

 + 2 moreThe crew of four guys showed up exactly as scheduled on the first day. A few set about installing the sprinkler system additions that would be needed while the others set about removing all of the roots and vines left behind by the tree service company in preparation for flower beds and sod. This was slow tedious work over about 1/3 of an acre making sure there was no residual roots and that the ground was level. Next moss rock was brought in to outline the flower beds. While this was being done, electric power was being run from the house to the lower back yard to install three 3-lamp park lights. The workers were cooperative as we made a few on the job changes of bed shapes and lighting placement after the work began and the cost for these changes was fair. A property fence line flower bed was installed and built up above grade. Not expecting that the bed would be above grade, the dirt in the bed was against the fence which would have caused it to decay prematurely. So at no additional cost, plastic flower bed edging was installed on the back side of the bed to protect the fence. The plants were planted and all of the beds were fully mulched to prevent weed growth. Finally over 25 pallets of empire zoysia grass were installed by a subcontractor. This was problematic as the subcontractor installed a lot of apparently dead grass and left a lot of trash behind. But once I called Doug, he stayed on top of the grass subcontractor until the job was done right. We have more plants to be planted in the back yard and redesign of the front yard that needs to be done in the next year. We will just call Fresh Landscapes to do the work.
Description of Work: We just moved in to a new home with no rear yard landscaping. We had about 1/3 of an acre of trees and underbrush removed by a tree removal service. Now it was time for flower bed and grass. Doug came out and listened to what we wanted which required a high level of hand work to remove the roots and vines the tree removal company left behind. He designed out flower beds lined with moss rock, a fence line bed for privacy, flags tone walkways, park lighting, grass, and irrigation system.

I had checked into the storage sheds offered in my community, and I determined that I desired a shed that was constructed much better than any of those sheds. So when I contacted my landscaper, Fresh Start Landscapes, about my upcoming project and my need for them to relocate the sprinkler heads, Cricket, the Office Administrator, asked me if I would like for Fresh Start to construct the shed. I decided to have them do that, and I'm very happy I did. Not only was the entire project in the hands of one company, but I was also able to add another desire (to have electrical plugs installed under my house eaves for Christmas lighting). Five years ago, Fresh Start Landscapes installed my flower beds, sprinkler system, and lawn in my back yard. Over these years, I have really felt that this Company does quality work and has great customer service. I trust them fully. This time was no different. Fresh Start Landscapes completed my work in four days, and I am very happy with the result. I not only have a shed that is built on a cement slab and is constructed with high quality, but I have the assurance that Fresh Start Landscapes will back up their install, as they did my previous work. I am truly happy with this Company's performance. Doug and Cricket, the owners, are wonderful people and their main man in the field, Noe, is awesome in what he can all do. I am fortunate that I found Fresh Start Landscapes on Angie's List five years ago. They have been a great Company to do business with.
Description of Work: Built an outdoor storage shed, installed electricity for the shed and two outlets under the eaves of my home, relocated sprinkler heads to accommodate the new shed, add rocks and plastic sheeting behind the shed, add cement between the shed and the house.
