This is a difficult review to submit. One person was great and the other was horrible. I will start with the good. Mr. Grayson came to the house and looked at my trees. He provided me with a lot of good information and gave me a quote. Mr. Grayson was wonderful! My problem was with the lady who I spoke with twice on the phone. I did not catch her name. She was extremely pushy and rude. When I was trying to tell here where I live and how to get to my house she kept naming off streets that are not in my neighborhood and I was trying to explain that to her. At one point she even told me that I need to "explore" my neighborhood to get to know it better. OMG!!!! I have lived here all my life and I DO know my neighborhood. She actually argued with me on the phone for well over 5 minutes about this. After getting off the phone with her I looked at a map myself. The streets she was talking about are industrial roads, NOT the neighborhood roads. Anyway... this whole conversation was so upsetting and actually quite stupid. All she managed to do was **** me off. Needless to say I went with another company.
Description of Work: I contacted Foster's Tree Service regarding three trees I have that have been loosing their leaves and not looking very good.

Because of work, I got tied up and couldn't make it home to meet with Mr. Grayson. Mr. Grayson still showed up on time, and inspected all the trees in my yard (have some mature oaks and a magnolia tree that I was convinced had a fungus issue). Mr. Grayson then called me and informed me that our oaks were doing well and that our magnolia wasn't sick. Our mangnolia had just suffered from a very bad pruning several years prior (and maybe the drought conditions of a couple years back) and that it would never fully recover to be as beautiful as mangolia trees can be. Mr. Grayson answered all my questions over the phone and even game me advice on how I could rehabilitate my magnolia. He seemed very knowledgable and extremely personable. When I hung up, I told him my mom who takes care of our son would pay him. My mom apparently did not have any change (just several $20 bills), and Mr. Grayson accepted $40 instead of his quoted $45 inspection fee. I was extremely grateful when I heard this. Competence and concern for the customer are just so rare these days. I will be mailing in the $5 I owe and he has more than earned my future business. I wish Fosters continued success. Very impressed with Mr. Kenneth Grayson and his expertise.

We have a live oak in the front yard that is around 40 years old, and a Bradford pear. About every 2 years we have TNT Tree Service come trim out our trees in the front yard. We had noticed a lot of dead ends on the branches of the live oak. Tim Jennings with TNT said he wouldn't trim out the dead branches because he felt there was a problem with the tree and recommended Fosters Tree Service. We called on Wed 06/19 and scheduled a consultation for the next day. Kenneth Grayson who is the arborist came out on Thursday 06/20 and checked out the tree. He called us on Friday 06/21/13 to tell us that the tree had a fungus infection and insects called tip borers which were causing the tips of the limbs to die. He recommended a course of action, faxed us a quote and we scheduled the tech to come Monday 06/24/13. The office called to let us know that the tech was on his way about 30 minutes before he arrived. He arrived on time and was extremely professional. I appreciate the fact that the treatments they use are organic and I don't have to worry about chemical pollution. Foster's recommends that they treat the tree again in January, and we plan on calling them to come back out then . When I asked about having the dead ends removed, they said it wouldn't hurt the oak in any way to trim off the dead parts. Because they are arborists, they don't trim trees, so TNT will be back out to trim out the dead ends. Between Foster's and TNT our live oak is on it's way to regaining it's health.
Description of Work: Treated the root system of live oak, liquid aerate, added organic soil conditioners and a systemic insecticide. Also injected the trunk of the live oak with a systemic fungicide and insecticide.

When other pines in the area have suffered, the treated trees have gradually improved. I like the organic nature of the services.
Description of Work: The root systems of our pine trees were treated and organic soil conditioners were added to help strengthen the trees over the last 3 years of drought conditions in our area.

The technician arrived and was able to quickly determine the status of the tree. He was very patient and answered all of my questions regrading the options, probable causes of the problem and next steps.
Description of Work: Kenneth evaluated our oak tree and quickly concluded that the tree has a fungus disease that cannot be cured, and warned that the tree would continue to deteriorate over the next several years. He didn't recommend trying to treat the disease, as he said it cannot be cured and that permanent damage has already occurred (he could have tried to charge us to extend the tree's life, but instead recommended taking the tree down and planting a new tree in the fall).

We have a Shumard Red Oak, about 13 years old, which for some reason did not leaf out for the first time ever on parts of the tree. After a visit it was determined that there was a vascular problem with the tree and treatment was recommended. The treatment was done promptly and we have seen some benefits, with some branches leafing out. We will treat again in the fall to try to give the system a boost and make it ready for spring budding and leafing and hope it comes back all the way. Fosters was recommended by the gentleman who has trimmed/removed trees for me for 20 years (Tommy's Tree Service--also excellent, fairly priced and prompt) and in fact Fosters agreed with Tommy's assessment. All in all a good experience.

Prompt efficient service.
Description of Work: Tree arborist only. No tree trimming. Had arborist review all our trees. He is attempting to save an old magnolia. He indicated the other trees are in good shape, and did not try to sell services not needed. We had major sewer work in our backyard that could affect one tree which we did not want to lose, so we decided to authorize fertilizing treatment for the backyard (which will benefit several other trees). We really want to save the magnolia, which requires extensive work. The magnolia ran up the price. He said it will take 18 months to see if the tree can be saved.
