We have had work performed by Empire Today in the past, in a different state, and were very very pleased. So the bar of expectation was already set high. Our sales representative was friendly, knowledgeable and was able to provided next day service for installation. The two man installation super team was on time, professional, efficient and did an AMAZING job. They even went out of there way to hand stain quarter round to properly complement the flooring, nice threshold work too. Our new Brazilian Cherry LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) looks and feels wonderful.

The sales guy was very nice although new to the company (3 mos on job). He measured, show my wife samples, extolled the virtues of Empire's tile selection over Home Depot etc. We asked for a written estimate and measurements. After much salesmanship, we finally received a verbal quote, $16772. My wife let him know this was totally out of budget and accidentally told him we were thinking $6k (the budget is actually $5k). He made some calls to the office and after giving us the sales points of Empire a couple more times, said they could do it for $94xx BUT we only had 1 hour to make a decision. We were already tired and hungry (ready for lunch). WE DID NOT FALL FOR THE HIGH PRESSURE 1 HOUR TACTIC. We went to Home Depot and Lowes. Home Depot sent out a measurer. Turns out we were talking only 778 sq. ft.. Seriously, $16772 for 778 sq. ft?!?!?! A WHOPPING $21.56 sq. ft. or even after 1 hour $12.08 sq. ft. I WILL NEVER CALL EMPIRE OF DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. If they are the last flooring company in town, I will go with dirt or concrete.

We recently moved in to a new home. The earlier owners had a cat and since my husband is allergic to cats, we had to removed the carpet and replace it with a new one! We checked out a few places but decided to go with Empire Today after watching their commercials offering discounts for carpet installation. The consultant visited us to get the measurements and show us the different carpet options. We met with him again later to make the payment and book an appointment. For the installation, three guys showed up in a truck. The commercials show uniformed guys who are extremely professional looking. However, to my disappointment, three youngsters in ultra casual clothes showed up with their cell phones in their hands. They were very slow to begin, took some measurements and realized the earlier measurements by the consultant were incorrect and that they needed to get some more carpet! One of the guy left to get the carpet while the other two got to work removing the old carpet and installing the pad for the new one. Their entire installation was good and they also cleaned the place after completion. My only concern was the guys' attire! I expected people from such a well known company to be professionally dressed before entering customers' homes. Also, when the main guy was talking with us, the other two were busy on their phones, which is something I absolutely disapprove of !!!

The first team came on time early Friday morning to do the install. They quickly realized that the salesman had measured improperly and they didn't have enough carpeting. We made arrangements for them to come the next day instead. That was kind of annoying but luckily I didn't have that much going on the next day so I was ok with it. When they did come the next day the 2 man crew did a very, very nice job and cleaned up very well. The carpet looks really good but has snagged in a couple of spots already. That was one of the things I specifically asked the salesman because we have a dog and a couple cats and i was afraid to buy one they could snag and he assured me that it was not going to happen with that particular carpet... I'm bummed and may call them back to see if there's something we can do.
Description of Work: The salesman came to my house with samples for my master and two big closets. I did not realize that I was going to be pressured to make a decision on the spot once I found a sample I liked. I would have liked to think about for a day or two but he said he would have to drive all the way back to my house from Kingwood or something like that so I went ahead and made the deal. It was somewhat unprofessionally handled.

It went well. The sales person who showed the samples was very knowledgable, timely and patient. The two laminate installers were very professional and worked all day to remove the carpet and complete the installation. They also gave me some helpful hints regarding furniture pads for all the furniture so my new floors would not get scratched. I went to a local hardware store to purchase them and the two installers placed all of them on my furniture. The floors are beautiful. I am very happy with them.

They were way out of price. I do not know if I looked them up on Angie's list but we found an advertisement in the paper and we did get some work done. They were fine but the pricing was high. Customer service wise they were very good. They arrived right on time; I think even earlier for the appointment. They were in and out of there within maybe an hour and a half. They worked very efficiently and they offered to move our furniture back in. They took the furniture out and also put it back in. They made sure we were satisfied. They even made a follow-up call a few days later. I would say it was a good product but it was just overpriced. I understand that the sales person works on a commission but he was acting like he was giving us the greatest deal ever. I rather have a sales person who did not really fight for the price so much, like here was the price and let's go from there but they had their views.

The gentleman that came out to give the estimate arrived on time and prepared with samples and was very knowledgeable in his field of work. He was very friendly, thorough and patient with me. He also listened to my needs and worked well with me. They wanted to charge me $1700, but I had another estimate from another company for $1500. I called Empire and told them I had a lower estimate from another company so not only did they match the price, but they took off an extra $25.00, that made me feel like my business was appreciated and I was happy to start working with them. The day of the project, a dad and son team arrived to do the work and they were punctual. They worked well together and did a great job. Not only that, but they went above and beyond expectations and offered to install a toilet seat that I had difficulty setting up myself. Empire Today also called twice while the dad and son were working on my floors to check-in and make sure everything was going well. I am very pleased and am looking forward to working with them again in the future.

Sales person was knowledgeable and professional. Installers were cordial and on time. They kept busy and explained along the way the process; they set up work station outside. They helped to move the heaviest pieces of furniture out of the living room and back in place. Clean-up was done, and they were in and out in a day. It was a very pleasant experience. One little area of the trim came away the next day, and they promptly came back to re-nail the area. We were very satisfied with the work of all involved, and we will definitely use them again when we can replace some carpet.

The price included removal and water resistant padding, labor (even moving furniture). The carpet looks great and has a warranty. The representative they sent out was very knowledgeable. They told us if there was anything that we were not satisfied with they would fix it. They were quick to come out and get the job done. They quoted us a price and stuck to it. I was really impressed with this company and would definitely recommend them!

Empire Today came out and measured the floors and after I chose the laminate flooring I wanted they gave me a quote of $12,000 for 600 square feet of laminate and instillation. After I dropped the bedroom from the quote and showed them a quote from a different company they dropped the price to $4700. They pressured me into signing the papers then and wanted the installers out that week to install the flooring. I had them come out in two weeks. I also took their bid and went to My Flooring America and asked them how much they would charge. For similar flooring they would do everywhere I wanted plus the bedroom for $4500, but I didn't get approved to finance the whole thing. Also, My Flooring America only does 1 year no interest financing and Empire Today has 18 months no interest financing. The day of installation the workers showed up at approximately 9AM and started working right away. They worked through out the day until about 6PM and left for the night. They hadn't finished the flooring so they came back around 730AM the next day, which was a Sunday and finished off around noon. THey finished up and cleaned up and left. I noticed several days later that there was fine wood dust on some of my furniture and picture frames left from whenever they cut into the baseboards, and lots of sawdust in my garage from when they did the cutting there instead of outside because it was raining. Also, the carpet in my bedroom hadn't been cut right so they had to come out at a later date to stretch the carpet and make it fit under the joining piece where the carpet meets the laminate. They had previously cut the carpet too short and it was sticking up and getting shredded. Also, there is some buckling of the laminate next to the wall so I have to have them come out and fix that also. All in all it was a decent experience but I would recommend to everyone to get several quotes of laminate instillation and don't be afraid to try and get them to match or beat competitors prices.

Overall I would give them a ' B.' Pluses were (1) showed up on time, (2) worked hard, (3) helped move the furniture back into place and (4) were friendly. Cons were: (1) their bid was not the lowest, and (2) did not show up with all the equipment they needed to do the job. I had some heavy furniture that they were not equipped to move. I anticipated that and brought a dolly from work, but I felt they should have been better prepared.

They did the demo and installed the new ceramic. The service was good. They were accommodating and they did exactly what I asked them to do. The only negative I could say about them is their work hours were not very study. They ended up not showing up until ten o'clock in the morning. It probably took them about a half a day longer than it would have if they had a full work day. They were there the next day and no problems.

They come to you house with your samples so you can check it against the wood work. They do all the measuring for you. I like their personal service. A lot of companies make you do it all yourself but they come to your house. I probably paid more but I wanted to make sure I had the right color. They explained the tile they were giving me, I ended up getting tile that was made out of recycled coke bottles and it looks like regular tile. I wanted something very well kept. I thought it was very green that the company came up with a way to do that with their carpet and tile. Everything was from recycled material.

I like the product and the results with one annoyance: the laminate on the tread was not raised to be flush with the nosing. I asked about it at the time and the installers wouldn't offer a resolution.In every other respect, I'm happy with the job. But when I look at the stairs, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go back at some point and take up the laminate on the tread and put in something to raise the laminate to the level of the nosing.
Description of Work: I had laminate laid down replacing carpet and ceramic tile. Part of the carpet replacement was on a single staircase.

I've never used them, or tried this, but as I'm doing research for having wood floors installed, I came across something that mentioned Empire does not offer broken down quotes. I'm not sure of this, and I have never tried it myself, but I'm saying that if you do decide to contact them, make sure to ask for an itemized quote that breaks down material, labor, taxes, ect. Who knows, they may be great! Just make sure to ask for that detailed quote.

I spent about $700 on that service. I liked that they came to my house on New Year’s Eve. The crew that was sent was quiet and professional and they cleaned up after themselves. The thing that I did not like was that they made two holes in the wall and told me about them, but did not repair it. They also knocked my medicine cabinet off the wall and cracked it.

overall, I would say that they did a fair job. I had to ask the servicemen to seal gaps in the edges of the hardwood floor where it meets with the baseboard of the wall. they only did this for a few of the sections where the edges did not meet with the baseboard. the rest were not sealed. I would not use them again.

I contacted Empire shortly after Hurricane Ike. Getting an appointment was no problem. But the sales man was awful. It almost cost Empire the job. The sales man was rude, condescending, arrogant and grandiose. He and I had words about his attitude. I almost put him out. The tile layers were wonderful. They were courteous, professional, quick and were more than willing to accomodate my needs. The tiles are nice and the tile job has held up very well the past 2 years. I would consider using Empire again but not if I have to deal with the same salesman. I am planning to have more tile work done but I don't think I'll go back to Empire because of the saleman.

The entire experience was unusual but ended up being great. We recently purchased a home. While visiting our "new" home but before moving in, I got about half a dozen flea bites. My husband treated the carpet to kill the fleas, but I soon broke out in hives. We thought I might be allergic to something in the carpet because I'd never gotten hives after getting flea bites. Suddenly, getting the old carpet out became a big priority. After doing some quick comparative shopping online and opting NOT to try a do-it-yourself flooring installation, we decided to get Empire to come out to give us a free in-home estimate. We figured we could compare their prices with Home Depot and Lowe's. We were thrilled that they were going to bring samples to us, rather than our having to go to them. On the day before someone was supposed to come out to give us a quote, I was hospitalized due to a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis). Empire has a policy that all decision-making parties have to be present at the in-home estimate. That meant I was supposed to be there with my husband. Obviously, with me in the hospital, I was not going to be able to make it to the meeting. Because of my severe reaction, however, we felt the need to remove the carpet was even more urgent and did not want to cancel. I called Empire and explained my situation, and they said it would be ok if I missed the meeting. (Looking back, I realize they couldn't have said anything else...I was in the hospital, for crying out loud.) Anyway, the salesperson came the next day and I made my husband go to meet him (even though he wanted to stay with me in the hospital). They ended up calling me from the home while I was in the hospital and describing all the different flooring options so that I could be a part of the process. The sales guy (can't remember his name) explained all the options and was even able to describe the color choices better than my husband could. They guy was very nice and understood what I was going through because he also had severe allergies. We scheduled to have our floors installed on the upcoming weekend. My husband had to be at a meeting all morning, so I was to be the one to greet the people who were to install our floors. The men who came to install our floors were amazingly kind and professional. After they removed our carpet, they discovered that our sub-floor was woefully uneven. They unexpectedly had to level the floor with a sort of cement (at no extra charge), so this delayed their timeline because they had to wait for the cement to dry before laying the laminate. The men skipped lunch because of the delay, so I ordered pizza for all of us. They were very appreciative and even a little shy about eating. Once my husband was done with his meeting, I went back to our apartment to rest and get away from the dust. The installation ended up going into the night, but the men worked non-stop according to my husband. We had the carpet on our stairs installed a few days later. They same guys who installed our laminate installed the carpet. Both after the laminate installation and after the carpet installation, they made sure to clean up after themselves – that is, they vacuumed and removed debris from the installations. In conclusion, the quality was amazing, our floors and carpet are beautiful, and the price was right. Every single person we interacted with, from the salesman to the men who installed our floors to the customer service woman who called to ask what we thought were fantastic. We highly recommend them. Oh, and if you're wondering why I had anaphylaxis, it had nothing to do with the carpet. Turns out, I had become allergic to a medication I was taking. I'm ok now.
Description of Work: Laminate flooring installed in master bedroom, 1 large walk-in closet, 1 small walk-in closet, linen closet, 1 guest bedroom, and office. Also had carpet installed on stairs. The price included old carpet removal, hauling away old carpet, laminate and carpet installation, molding, and vacuuming up the dust and debris.

They did an excellent job and with no extra charge. They took everything out and moved the furniture. They did one room in a day, and two guys came and finished the 3 rooms in a day and a half. They arrived on time and worked with good quality. They were also very responsive and professional.
