They were terrible to work with. unreliable, impossible to reach, never returned phone calls. our pool is turning green from the maintenance being so spotty and we have had a leak for months and they have not followed up with us to find or take care of the problem. would not recommend them whatsoever.
Description of Work: weekly maintenance was what the above price reflects. also did some repairs.

Overall, our experience with Kevin Young has been worse than we could have imagined. ---- We employed Kevin Young for over 5 years. When he worked for a landscape contractor, his work was good as he was supervised by other people. He later went into business for himself. We hired him to help his business as we believed in his integrity and work quality. When he came over and did the work himself, the work was good. After he started hiring people, the work became inadequate requiring my time to clean the pool and make multiple phone calls to inform him of the problems. ---- In the last three months, the pool was neglected but not the bills. Kevin's employees left the skimmer baskets out of the skimmer wells, multiple times for over a week, which ultimately clogged the skimmer pipes. We had to make multiple phone calls and emails to get their attention about the problem that their employees created. Later, the pool turned pond color from neglect: the workers didn't backwash or maintain the chemistry of the pool. We had to make multiple phone calls and emails, again, to get Kevin and Tiffany's attention. After 5-6 weeks, they finally cleaned the pool. ---- We received a bill for unclogging the skimmer pipe that was created by Kevin's employees, which was over 400 dollars. In addition, Tiffany and Kevin charged us for pool maintenance, in spite of the fact that the pool wasn't maintained adequately to use for over a month, either visually or physically. We continued to write Tiffany and Kevin regarding the problem in the billing for over 3 weeks. -- Finally, Kevin responded to let me know that he had been out of the country for several months. He claimed that he wasn't responsible for the skimmer clog and I was due the bill in spite of evidence submitted in text and email messages. We terminated the contract. ------ The skimmer is still clogged and we have to hire someone else to fix the problem created by his employees. I notified him that he's responsible for the bill.

We had to end our relationship with EcoQuatic Pools after the decking had been installed without the proper slope to drain in several spots. We had really tried to hang in there and complete with EcoQuatic despite many disappointments. We made our down payment on 4/19/12 and were assured numerous times the project would finish, absolutely by the end of June. Young, the owner continued to assert the same when it was readily apparent we weren't going to make it by our big planned event at our home on July 4. He was relieved (fired) on 7/02. Family had to cancel plans for the party at our house, which was a major inconvenience to many. Yet, Young never apologized (not even when the wrong color tile arrived a day prior to scheduled installation and my wife and 4 yr. old daughter had to cancel a vacation plan so we could meet at the tile store to select an alternate color. Young refused to accompany us, either. I spent a great deal of time inspecting the work of the subs and hiring the consultant to do the same as Young wasn't doing the quality control work and would respond to my questions, with a "you just don't understand. This is common in the pool industry and among pool builders". Yet, our pool consultant disagreed with much of the "common" applications and methods. We advanced EcoQuatic $2,000 ahead of the draw schedule after he shared stories of his wife having to go and collect from others and that they were financially stretched. Also, his was the most aggressive on the front-end of all draw schedules so we knew when he was terminated we would lose financially, yet it was necessary as we spent a week correcting the un-level installation of deck jets, umbrella sleeves, tile/drain repairs, etc. I believe the depth of the pool problem is a result of his never preparing a detailed elevation plan despite my request for it throughout. We asked for an IntelliTouch system and he installed EasyTouch. He didn't tell us about the difference (though their cost is ~$750 different), until asked over a week after our consultant mentioned it. Another example of his failure to plan, I had asked for the electrical panel to be down the wall enough for us to construct a safety gate hiding the equipment and gutter, yet he ignored (or forgot the request) and never apologized or attempted to correct. We were very disappointed he wasn't honest with us about the completion date and how this negatively impacted many within our family from a personal standpoint, but the remainder of our criticism relates to his lack of on-site presence, failure to inspect the work of the sub-contractors and lack of commitment/professionalism to the job.
Description of Work: Kevin Young, Owner of EcoQuatic Pools has a nice sales presentation utilizing Pool Studio software, which appealed to us in selecting tile colors and the layout for the pool in relation to our home. He appeared to be knowledgable and his early responsiveness was inviting. However, in one sentence, I would share that EcoQuatic Pools is as good as the subcontractors utilized. We failed the City's electrical inspection and had to hire another electrician to correct so we could pass. Young ordered the wrong color decking tile, b/c he didn't inspect the order. His presence was minimal, quality control review of their work was nonexistent at the time we discontinued his services. We had to hire another pool builder to finish the construction of our pool. His business faced a hardship when his maintenance employee had an automobile accident totalling the truck and preventing the worker from continuing, according to Young. However, he continued to take vacations (or go out of town each weekend), despite our construction project falling further and further behind. During the week, we were told he couldn't come by, except to pickup a payment, to check on the work as he had his maintenance guy out injured and he had to cover that responsibility or his business would fail. Then, when we persisted about the work continuing on the weekend (as we were several weeks behind schedule), he would only say he had a commitment with his family. As a result, I was forced to hire a pool consultant to inspect the work and myself to inspect almost daily. The sub-contractor was rarely around, too and he just left his guys to run the job with very little direction and plans to follow. They knew their work wasn't being inspected and we went through 1/2 a roll of painter's blue tape labeling tiles with no or too little thinset behind them; the height of the benches (2) and a wall between the spa and pool were off by more than 2". The depth of the pool in our shallow end wasn't constructed according to our wishes and with two kids under the age of 6, this was important. Over 100 sq.' of decking had to be replaced as it weren't sloped correctly. The consultant discovered this & the other areas. The day of concrete pouring, he said nothing to the subs as me and my neighbor were left to identify rebar which wasn't tied, insist on expansion joints and work with his subs. Our deck jets, aerators and umbrella sleeves weren't plumb and had to be corrected. Our electrical inspection failed the City inspection, yet Young always blamed others & took no responsibility.
