Rating should be less than a Zero for a crook. For years, David Powers just keeps taking money from numerous people and leaving them with losses, then close that business, start a new one and do it again. I don't understand how this person can live with himself. My loss occurred in 2008. Other websites have years of bad reviews. In 2008, we lost $5,000 when he refused to refund our initial deposit when he could not get a construction loan from his banker even though we had agreed, in writing, to put down 25% which left David Powers to obtain a loan for only 75%. David Powers could not or would not agree to this with his banker who was in Arizona. For some reason, he had no banking relationships with any Houston area bank. Although he had our initial deposit, he never started construction. David Powers did not even acknowledge receipt of my fax or my certified mail requesting the refund. He would not take calls from me. At the time, I talked with numerous other potential home buyers who had been screwed by David Powers, many with amounts far greater than my $5,000. It has been a long time since 2008, but before I die, I wanted to warn others about doing business with David Powers.

We have an awkward lot, and they worked several iterations with us to find a feasible plan. The smaller plans had a higher price psf. We loved their plans, the quality of the finishes, and they had some marvelous suggestions that we wanted to incorporate. They also had a good command of pricing for add-ons. They were less flexible on certain options - e.g using spray foam insulation, or using our own vendor for cabinet hardware, Ultimately, we wanted a more custom solution, and we have found a custom builder that we are working with. We did find them easy to work with, and would recommend them.
Description of Work: They worked with us on Build On Your Lot estimates. We had several iterations with different floor plans. Prices ranged from 500s to mid-600s, around $175 psf and higher.
