Description of Work: They came out Tuesday evening to assess the job. Our warranty company was closed so they could not verify it at that time. Two days later, they showed up at 6:30 am, the agreed upon time, to replace my water heater. They fixed two faucets as well.

+ -1 moreIt all went quite smoothly. Robert is a friendly guy who clearly likes what he does and his cheerful manner rubs off on you. We scheduled his visits through the office at David Hicks and Robert called in advance to let us know he was on his way. Some of the jobs he needed to do were dependent on bits of work that I was doing or the tiler was doing and because i had not organized a project like this before there were some delays, but I bear responsibility for that myself. I did notice a slight leak on a couple of joints but Robert came back promptly and fixed that. Everything is working fine now and our bathroom looks a lot better.
Description of Work: (The $1,875 mentioned above was for labor only. We bought the various items that needed to be installed.) Robert Gomez of David Hicks Plumbing handled all of the plumbing work on the remodeling of our small bathroom. This involved coordinating his work with a tiler (total expense for tiling and prep for tiling: $3,200 labor only) and some jobs that i did myself. (I took care of demolition, carpentry, replacing a window, taping and applying joint compound to drywall, painting etc.). We ripped out an old cast iron bath tub and replaced it with a tiled shower stall. Robert put in a new drain for the shower and installed a PVC liner for the shower stall. He also replaced the rusty old galvanized steel pipes to the shower and wash basin and fitted a new shower valve (that's the bit that regulates the flow of hot and cold water) and shower head. He fitted a new wash basin that we bought and replaced the damaged drain on the old one. He fitted a new toilet, replacing a broken flange (that connects the toilet to the floor over the waste pipe).

+ -1 moreExcellent service. I called after office hours, and the company had a plumber on call. I explained the problem to him, and he offered to come out, but said that I'd have to pay the overtime(i.e. time and a half)rate. He said the problem wasn't urgent, and that he'd recommend leaving a message on the answering machine at the office. He said they'd call me first thing the next morning and should be able to come out the same day. I got a call at 8:15AM the next morning, and they said they'd have someone at my house by noon. Mike called around 10 and said he was on his way. He replaced the part and fixed the problem in 15 minutes. Then told me that it's an hourly rate, so he'd be happy to stay and fix any other problems I was having. He also gave me some helpful tips on how to keep algae from growing in the pipes. I'll use them again for any plumbing needs.

+ 0 moreA service person was able to come out within an hour of my first call. He was very professional, worked quickly, and repaired our problem. He had to have a piece of our existing gas line re-machined with new threads. He was able to leave to get this done and return within an hour. He also checked our water heater and furnace to make sure they were properly re-lit after turning our gas back on. Overall, a very good experience and I highly recommend this company.

+ -1 moreRobert called a few minutes before the appointment time to tell us he was on the way. He looked at the problems and immediately went to work. Obviously he has been doing this for awhile. In fact, when I looked at my records he first came here in 1998 and then again in 2001. He repaired all of the problems. He went back to the company to get the part that we needed. We live in an old house with old plumbing. I was glad to have someone that had some years of experience behind him. He was friendly and polite; we will call David Hicks Plumbing again.
Description of Work: We had little hot water pressure coming from the sink faucet; Robert had to replace the diverter stem. Hardly any hot water at all coming from the lavatory faucet; he flushed and cleaned it out. Slow draining shower drain; he used the auger.

+ -1 moreI would use them again and again with out a doubt. He knew what he was doing. He didn't come in to give me a quote. He came to work. Unlike the prior group I had contacted. He did an outstanding job.
Description of Work: This guy came in he replaced both my spickets in record time. Included in record time was a commode replacement. He also corrected a little mistake on a commode I had replaced early out, it was rocking he fixed that. I told him I wanted to replace my tub, he said my tub didn't look that bad. He said it would be cheaper to refinish my tub. He recommended a company. I didn't even know a company like that existed. He said what I wanted to do was very expensive, and said I would come out cheaper to refinish it. Which a prior plumber should have advised but didn't do that. I wanted him to tell me if I needed to replace a base bowl on a sink. He said let me repair it and let him put the spickets in. Come to find out he said it was leaky. I ran to the store and got another base bowl and he installed it. He arrived at 9am and was done by 3pm on everything.

The plumber called 30 minutes before he was going to be at my house, as promised. Plumber was professional and fixed the problem without making a mess. I wouldn't hesitate to call again - it's hard to find a good plumber in Houston (I've used many I would never call again).

+ -1 moreI originally set up an appointment to have them come over at 8 am LAST Monday. They called and left a message in the afternoon stating that no one was there to answer the phone when they called. Someone was there the entire morning, when they were set to be there. Then, this morning (Monday, a week later), I had set up another 8 am appointment. I confirmed the appointment (they were sending someone right over). At 11 am, they left a message to call them back, which I did immediately as I had just missed their call by seconds. The operator told me that the service person was on a call and they could not help me. Then, they tried to reschedule for a later date and insisted that it was my fault that the appointment was missed. I was at the house waiting the ENTIRE TIME. I cancelled and will never use them again. I called another company that was able to come out within an hour.
Description of Work: I had a problem with my sewer line at my house and called to set up an appointment. David Hicks has done work for me in the past that had been satisfactory.

+ 0 moreTechnician came soon after our (same day) call, which was important given that this was somewhat of an emergency. Worked quickly, neatly, and efficiently. Clearly knew what he was doing. Didn't ask us to do a bunch of stuff; didn't suggest any added repairs were required by "Code." The technician discovered one additional problem and repaired it very quickly and economically. He was polite and respectful; he did the work, charged a fair price and left. Will definitely use again.
Description of Work: We called because we had a leak in the in-take line into the water heater (where the in-take line connects to the water heater.)
