Installed in one day went well

I've had one of their heat pumps for about two years now and it cut my heating bill almost in half. I'm very pleased.

We hired a local plumbing and heating professional to install a Daikin air conditioning/heating system in our home in May of 2013. The cost of the equipment and labor totalled close to $13,000. Air conditioning was perfect; when it came time to switch to supplemental heating in December, it didn't work. After much time and inconvenience, we found an authorized Daiken repair serviceman (the installer knew nothing about repairing the system) who concluded there was a bad circuit board in the outdoor condenser. The service provider spent several hours diagnosing the problem, then installed a new circuit board that he neglected to test. It, too, failed. Finally, after several visits to our home, the service provider installed a 2nd replacement circuit board which fixed the problem - imagine our surprise when we were billed for the repairs. Long story short: we worked with the retailer (FW Webb) who agreed to pay a portion of the cost (high praise for this retailer!!). We contacted a representative from Daikin who said it was his priority to ensure our satisfaction; however he didn't deliver on that statement. He neglected to provide the promised follow through. We are holding a bill for $1090.45 for the installation of the 2nd replacement circuit board. We agreed to pay the service provider for the initial repairs (257.45) but are going to battle regarding the return trips and additional charges because the first replacement circuit board was no good. When the Daiken system works, it's fantastic. But if it fails, heaven help you! There are only 2 authorized repairmen in the state of Vermont, and the one closest to us spent the entire time on the telephone with Daikin tech support. For these reasons, I would NOT recommend the Daikin system to anyone. There are other choices out there, and we'd suggest purchasing a product that the installer can service, and will stand behind.
