Joe Culpepper was very professional and he did everything on time. He was prompt and he returned our calls. He seemed like he would be capable; he sent us drawings of everything. We chose not to hire him because of the cost; it was a little high for us at the time.

Joe is a good carpenter. Did great work on a tricky trim job and installing some unusual recessed lighting. Came-up with good solutions to problems that arose during the project. Avoid using his painter. He is slow and sloppy!! I plan to use Joe again on an upcoming project (but not the painter).

The whole process went well with good communication between us.

I had sent him a picture of the area that needed to be worked on. He came out the same day I called. He said that it wasn't really necessary to shorten the cabinets. It made more sense to remove the cabinets and install a board covering the whole. I wasn't going to need woodwork. He was very nice and honest.

Joe gave us a great estimate and got to work quickly. He even followed up before we selected him which was nice considering several other Angie's list carpenters didn't call me back for days. I liked Joe's old school style and selected him for the work. The good:Mr. Culpepper began work very quickly and worked with my wife and I to schedule things when we would be home. He took measurements and had about half the new cabinet doors completed within a week. He finished all of the cabinet doors, the new cabinet , and the dishwasher cabinet installed withing 2.5 weeks. The new cabinet was exactly what we wanted and the dishwasher cabinet was a huge improvement. The quality is very good and we are pleased with how it looks. The quality and price would be very hard to beat. The not as good:Mr. Culpepper quoted me to paint the cabinets as well but I never gave him the go ahead on that work. I found someone else to do the painting and let him know the very next day. Unfortunately, he had already primed about half the cabinets and he ended up charging me $50 extra on the final bill. In addition the the priming charge, Joe also charged us an additional $50 for a part he bought to cap the dishwasher water line. Apparently our main water line off position still allows water thru the line and he needed to cap off the dishwasher line to avoid a watery mess in the kitchen. My wife actually paid the bill because I was out of town. If I had been there I would have disputed the charges. Big picture, it wasn't a big deal. My wife also had some disagreement with Mr. Culpepper on some of the levelness of the knob and pull holes. In the end, everything was fine. Despite these hiccups, Joe did a good job. Be very clear in your communication with him and you should be fine.

Before we found Joe, we had hired someone else to measure, order and install new kitchen cabinet fronts, drawers and slides, and it was a disaster! What he ordered didn't fit, and his work was of poor quality. We cut our losses, fired the first guy, and found Joe Culpepper. Everything went great once Joe started the job. He completed everything in a timely manner and at a fair price. We were so happy with the quality of Joe's work that we kept finding other cabinet work for him to do. We have used him since then, for other cabinet work, and will use him again. We recommend him very highly. He is a true craftsman.

Joe provided a detailed quote for the work and explained how long the job would take to complete. He followed up with us and and he completed the job in a timely manner as per his quote. He was very neat and organized and I felt comfortable leaving my home when Joe was working on our project. He is hardworking and honest. I am a designer and I have recommended Joe Culpepper to clients for their carpentry projects.

I really like Culpepper but we have put the project on hold for right now. If we decide to do it, Culpepper is on the top of my list. I felt like he was an expert in what he did and that he knew what he was talking about. He listened to what I wanted as far as style. I felt like we were on the same page as far as what I wanted. I will use him again in the future.

Overall everything went very well and I would recommend Joe to anyone.

The cabinets are sturdy, well built and beautiful.
