Mark came out on Tuesday. he was on time and very nice. I showed him where the squirrels were getting in and then he went into the attic to check further. He came down and I went up with him to see what he had found. Turns out I had a heavy rat infestation. He went over the procedure to get rid of the squirrels and take care of the rat problem. he wasn't sure how soon they could get to me, but after a phone call I was scheduled for the very next day. On Wednesday I got a call they were on their way and they arrived promptly. Breck explained what would need to be done and they got right to work. So far I am very pleased with this company. They are prompt polite and caring. I would recommend them judged on what I have seen so far. The job is done and everything is done per what was discussed on Tuesday. I am very pleased with the work that was done and the personnel that were at my home. everyone did their job and were very polite and kept me abreast of how things were going and when they would be finished. I would highly recommend them. They are not the cheapest, but I feel you get what you pay for and if you want the job done right, choose Critter Control !

It was supposed to kill mosquitoes. But the product that was used seems to produce more mosquitoes. We have more mosquitoes than ever. It's time to forget about all these services and install a misting system.

Excellent. They were professional all the way. Did what they promised and followed up the next 4 weeks to make sure problem was taken care of and no more critters. They emptied the attic and put fresh insulation back in. Closed all the entry holes and ways for critters to get into the house. They are expensive, but they get the job done.

The signs of the infestation were pointed out, which were obvious when my attention was directed to them. Recommended procedures to get rid of the problem were explained in understandable detail. The procedure involves removing and replacing the insulation in the attic and with the cleanup and entrance proofing is expensive (costs about $4-5 per square foot of attic space) but this seems to be the right way to solve the problem. The new insulation is supposed to be to an R36 level. If you are considering adding insulation anyway, that would mitigate some of the cost. The representatives have always been courteous and knowledgeable. While we yet to have the current work completed, I have no reason to expect anything less from this company.
Description of Work: We have had a couple of Raccoons in our attic over the years and needed to get them remove. We had the house sealed for pest entry. Recently we were hearing gnawing and called Critter Control out again. The problem with gnawing turned out to be caused by squirrels gnawing on the hardy plank exterior at the second story level of the house. While here, an inspection was performed which showed rodent infestation in our attics.

Definitely noticed a large decrease in the number of mosquitos. Before, I couldn't go into my back yard without mosquito spray, and even then I would get bitten several times. Now, after the first treatment, I don't need the spray. The technician was courteous and professional and let me know when she was on the way to my house. The only downside, which I didn't think of before, is that the spray pretty much kills everything it touches, including lizards and other yard habitat you may not want to get rid of.

Mark arrived on time and called about 30 minutes before arrival. He was very professional, friendly and respectful. He was patient and explained all aspects of what was would need to be done in order to remedy the infestation. I was working from home and he allowed me to continue my business calls while inspecting and reviewing the infestation. He waited several time and politely let me know when he was around so as to allow me to finish my business and respect my personal space. He offered to wait several times and showed a great deal of respect. He completed his initial inspection and brought me to the attic to point out the signs of infestation that were obvious once I saw them. I had seen the signs before but did not realize what they meant until it was explained to me. He reviewed all the steps that would be required to completely remove and prevent future infestations. He made it clear that this would be a complete solution. He also made it clear that it would not be cheap but would be fair based on the amount of work and the level of service. I believe he was wanting to be sure we were serious and had a good understanding of the work involved before completing his estimate of the work. I had a great deal of respect for his behavior and professionalism. He them spent a good 20 minutes or more reviewing the external opening, area of the attic and all aspects that would effect the estimate of the work. In the mean time I continued working. When he returned he waited for me to finish up before describing his estimate. He showed me photos of all the areas that would need sealing and gave a complete explanation of the costs for each phase. He was very professional and complete. There was no "let me check on that' kind of replies. He had an answer for every question and when we ask about when the work could be done he was ready. We explained each step of the process and how long it would take. I could work from home during the work but there would be a 2 hour window that would require the house to be empty. I believe he was very prepared for every possibility and I found that very comforting. We have the service scheduled for tomorrow and I will update the review once the work is done. At this point I am very happy with the level of service and professionalism and would highly recommend this company in the future.
Description of Work: Mark Inspected house for animals in attic. He found evidence of rats in the attic. He showed me the signs of long term nesting and discussed the issues involved in removing the pests completely and permanently. The Critter Control crew arrived on-time and the crew chief reviewed the scope of work with us again. The team split into inside and outside assignments and got to work. They worked all day and into the night and completed the entire scope of work. We were impressed with their work ethic and the quality of the work performed. They seemed to take care of our home as if it were their own. The crew chief performed a quality inspection with me before leaving and an inspector has already been back to make sure everything is up to standard. The work includes a five year warranty and it is clear that the company believes their work will stand the test of time. All-in-all the company and its personnel performed in a highly professional manner and we are quite satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: Our home is in the woods and we have constantly fought to keep small and large "critters" out of our attic, with almost 7,000 square feet under roof. Critter Control offered animal removal, repair of any animal damages, installation of screening, metal flashing, caps and other state-of-the-art entry prevention techniques, decontamination and remediation of the entire attic. The remediation was to include removal of all the old blown-in insulation and replacing it with an eco-friendly cellulose insulation containing boric acid to an R-36 standard, repair of any damaged ductwork and wiring and finally, removal of 19 years of "stuff" from the attic.

Description of Work: Initial assessment of our pest problem was thorough and honest. Mark was very helpful as well as comforting in his explanation of tthe best action for our needs. They were exceptionally professional, from the initial representative who came to our home to the team that performed the work. They did a wonderful job with the whole project. They made sure our home was protected during the work and kept everything clean and safe for our family during the process. They were extremely thorough, and we would absolutely recommend this company for any sort of animal removal. It was costly, but we have a large home and attic covers a large amount of square footage they had to deal with. When the team ran into some minor issues, they handled it professionally, and worked with us to exceed our expectations. This is the company you want to handle any sort of rodent or animal removal. Excellent job!
Description of Work: After we were hearing noises in our attic, we called Critter Control to come out and take a look. They determined that we had roof rats and gave us several options to address the issue. We chose to do a full removal of contaminated insulation (any rodents present at the time are also removed with this process), using industrial vacuums. They used a sanitizing agent to decontaminate and sanitize all the surfaces in the attic. They found all possible entry points around our home and sealed them to prevent future entry of rodents. They then replaced the insulated by blowing in a new insulation treated with Boric Acid to repel any rodents from wanting to nest there in the future.

After moving into a new home, we discovered evidence of rats in the attic. Critter control responded within 24 hours, provided a thorough inspection, and showed us each of the indications of the extent of infestation. They removed the rats, all of the insulation which was contaminated, treated with a disinfectant, rat proofed the roof, dormers, vents, and brick to prevent re-entry, repaired chewed wire and vents, and monitored for three weeks to ensure no activity. Although expensive, I would hire again because they were thorough, professional, and we have continued to be rat free.

Prompt service. Issue not as major as first thought. Taken care of in less than hour. Friendly technician. Down side was that the first rep was more interested in selling us services and not specific to what we at hand. Don't mind options but this was more of a sales pitch and not service providing.

We first came across the idea of calling a pest control company after hearing non stop scratching and hissing through our walls. After deciding we needed to take serious actions we searched through the internet and found a different pest control company that required us to leave a message and they would contact us back. We waited for over an hour and found a different company to attempt to contact. Thankfully through google we found good reviews for the company of Critter Control for wild life removal and we proceeded to contact them immediately. They instantly answered and had one of theyre professionals to our house within 2 hours. Mark Miller was the professional who contacted us 20 min prior to notify he was on his way. When he arrived he introduced himself and proceeded to immediately hear our concerns and issues going on with our pest issues in our attic. After our conversation i gave him access to our house where he further went to inspect to see what he could find. To our surprise he found a host of serious issues going on. He was very thorough and up front with taking pictures and explaining the severity of the pest problems. He was also very good at explaining how and why certain things can go on with out our knowing or control. After bringing all of this to our attention he then went ahead and explained how they could thoroughly resolve our problem in only one day and always asking if we had any questions and making sure we understood exactly what was going on. After agreeing to our problems and wanting to take action with our permission he then went ahead and took an estimate of our house and presented the amount along with several different payment options we had. He also took further action to contact his company to see if they could schedule something within the week because of the hazards and the extent of damage that is going on with our home. Sofar this company has proven to be nothing short of honest, professional and very concerning with helping us as soon as possible and making our home a safe and comfortable place to live again! We are very pleased to accept theyre services and recommend them to anyone who has any kind of pest or wild life issues.

It went well. The BAT team with lead, Guadalupe were awesome! It could be that I provided them with extra water and Gatorade, but I'm okay with that. I felt like they were doing me a huge favor by taking care of my problem and in the 90° heat at that! They deserved all the extra hydration I could offer. They were a great team, courteous, and cleaned up everything when they were done. One of the guys stepped through the ceiling but the repairs were made quickly. It may not look like before, but at least they took care of it. My only concern was the pipe that the guy stepped on. At first they said there was water leaking from the pipe, but then after looking at it, they said it was fine. They never fixed the pipe though. I will make sure there is a follow up though. Thank you BAT team, keep up the good work. And Craig, the gentleman that have me the initial visit, thank you. I was able to text him of any issues and he talked me through it.

The inspector was very thorough and explained everything clearly. They were able to schedule the job on short notice to meet my needs. The workers showed up on time, they were very professional and courteous. They treated my house respectfully. They wore shoe covers, covered carpet, stairs. They used an upstairs window as an entry point so that my pet's wouldn't escape. They vacuumed the carpets before leaving. They completed all of the work in one day. I particularly like their service because they do all of the required work, there is no need to call in separator contractors for the repairs and insulation. I also appreciated that all of the work is complete in one day; it's much less disruptive. I am very happy with the work. The whole house smells great, not like perfume or chemicals, it just smells clean and fresh. Team BAT did a fantastic job!!! Thanks,

The service to our attic occurred on June 2, 2015. The crew arrived about 9 AM as scheduled and spent about 14 hours completing the service. That's right, the crew chief was the last to leave about 11 PM that night! We were initially very impressed and pleased with the entire experience and had drafted a glowing review on Angie's List. Although one worker had stepped through the ceiling in a bedroom during the process -- as we were warned might happen -- a contractor came out that same day to repair the hole with a follow-up visit a few days later to texture and paint the repair. We began writing the review that evening, but because of the lateness of the hour decided to finish the next day. For reasons I will explain below, the review was not completed the next day. On the day of service, we had to evacuate the house for a few hours when the crew completed a sanitizing step after removal of the old insulation from the attic. After the crew had left, we were aware of a chemical odor in the house but assumed it was normal. Over the course of the next few days, it seemed the odor just got worse. After leaving the house for a few hours and then returning, the odor seemed overwhelming when walking in the door. Being elderly and somewhat sensitive to chemical odors, it caused us to have constant headaches. Assured there was nothing hazardous in the blown-in insulation, we were able to confirm that with a review of the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). However, a review of the MSDS for the sanitizer revealed that it was "corrosive to the eyes, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and respiratory system" and that "high vapor concentrations may cause central nervous system effects. Symptoms may include headaches, dizziness, and drowsiness." Those were the symptoms that we experienced. The first home inspection was on June 6 -- four days after the work had been done. Even though we complained about the irritating odor to the inspector, he claimed he did not smell any objectionable odor! We also complained that the crew did a terrible job of cleaning up the mess made when they blew in insulation above a storage room in the back of our garage. The morning after the work was done, I entered the garage to find that blown-in insulation was covering everything stored against the wall of the storage room and on the workbench along one side of the garage. The front-end of my car was also covered with the insulation. It had been parked in the garage when the work had been done. Unfortunately, I did not document that mess with pictures and cleaned it up myself without complaining to Critter Control. On June 6, while checking the work done in the attic above the game room, the inspector discovered the crew had left their MicroGen machine above that attic and removed it. Unfortunately, we did not document the position of the MicroGen machine before he removed it, but later that evening when we accessed that storage room for the first time since the work had been done, we noticed a large stained area on the ceiling of that room - right above where the MicroGen had been left. Upon further investigation, we noticed a yellow stain on the insulation in the attic above the ceiling stain. This was apparently the tool used to spray the sanitizer which the MSDS described as a "clear, colorless to straw colored liquid." On June 8, one week after the work had been completed, we called Critter Control to officially complain about the lingering odor and also discuss some other issues we had discovered. We sent a follow-up email with detailed concerns and pictures documenting those concerns. But the irritating odor and on-going headaches were by far our biggest concern. Critter Control assured us the odor would go away. Convinced that Critter Control was going to do nothing about the odor, we began our own investigation. Even though there had been some damage to the insulation around the air-conditioning duct work in the house attic -- which the inspector repaired with duct tape -- it did not appear that the actual duct work had been compromised. However, we felt like the odor had to be coming in through the AC system in some manner. We checked the main AC return air vent which is a column about 2 foot by 2 foot from attic to the floor. There was about 2 inches of the blown-in insulation at the bottom of that vent - just a few feet from the bedroom. Upon further investigation in the attic, we determined that a section of the AC return air column in the attic where it attaches to the AC had been dislodged and was open to the attic. No wonder we continued to smell the odor! We called our AC service company, and they repaired the damaged return air column on June 14, 2015 with a charge of $85. The odor and headaches went away after repairs were made. Critter Control did agree to refund the $85. We further discovered that an access door to the bathroom plumbing near the floor level was slightly dislodged and that blown-in insulation had fallen down through the walls and blown out into the bedroom in an area behind a desk. Upon further investigation at this access door, we found that the blown-in insulation was all around the bath tub. I did document this with pictures and complaints and cleaned up the mess inside the house myself. During the inspector's second visit, he did vacuum out most of the insulation around the bath tub and agreed to repair the dislodged frame for the access door, but he never did. In all fairness, I do not think that Critter Control caused this dislodged door frame, but it did allow entrance of the insulation into the house. Another issue we noticed was that the small utility room with our washer and dryer would become unbearable hot when the dryer was running and the utility room door was closed. The dryer was on an external wall and the crew had replaced the dryer vent with one that had an external door flap that closed when the dryer was not operating. I had mentioned the increased heat to the inspector on his third visit, but he assured me that the only problem was keeping the door closed to such a small area -- even though we had never experienced this increase in heat during the last 30+ years before. It was not until after the inspector left that I discovered the problem. The crew had replaced the dryer vent but had failed to check and make sure the dryer hose to the external vent was still connected. It had fallen off so all the heat from the dryer vent hose was coming into the utility room. One would have thought that the inspector might have had experience with this before. I ended up repairing this problem myself although moving the dryer in such confined quarters was no small task. On the positive side, on the same night that the service was completed, we again heard critter noises in the attic! We were really beginning to have second thoughts about how good an idea this was. But apparently the critter was able to find its way back out of the attic - which had been an access hole in the bottom of a box window at the back of the house. Critter Control had left a one-way out trap at that location that allowed the critter to get out of the attic but blocked re-entry. When we called Critter Control the next day, they explained the critter had probably been hiding down in one of the walls during the remediation and crawled back up into the attic when things got quiet. We never heard any other noises from the attic since then - and it has been almost a year since the work was completed. The night the work was completed, we were very pleased with the experience. During the next few days and weeks our opinion changed from being pleased to being not so pleased (with the lingering odor and headaches), to being frustrated with the new problems we were discovering and Critter Control's failure to take any action except to send an inspector who did not find any resolutions himself. Before it was over we were just plain angry. I was so angry I would have given the whole experience an "F" rating if I had tried to complete a review at that time. So I procrastinated -- until now. I provided an overall rating of "B". I cannot argue that they did everything they said they would do in a professional manner. We have had no further problems with critters in the attic and we have a lifetime warranty. But it has taken a year to be able to say that without getting angry. Had we known all the "after" problems we would have, we would not have used this company, but perhaps we were an exception.
Description of Work: Critter Control addressed a problem with animal control in the attic of our home and detached garage through these steps as described on the invoice: 1. Decontamination - apply a sanitizing agent to all affected surfaces to disinfect and treat the diseases associated with rodent by-products. 2. Remediation - removal of contaminated (batting-style) insulation using a safe vacuum system to prevent dried fecal matter from becoming airborne. 3. Entry Prevention & Repair - blow in eco-friendly cellulose insulation containing 15% boric acid to an R-30 standard. Repair animal damages and implement state-of-the-art prevention techniques. 4. Breezeway - screen breezeway access between garage and house. As a follow-up to this initial service, three home inspections were made by a Critter Control inspector over the next few weeks to check and make sure no remaining or additional critters were a problem. Those visits occurred on June 6, 16 and 24.

The company sent a representative out to our house to go over the different plans and answer all our questions. We were given the total cost, and we scheduled service. Not long after, work began. In one day they had removed all the dirty insulation and duct work, cleaned and disinfected the entire area, replaced the ducts, damaged seals and wires, and added a new, treated insulation. They sealed up cracks and crevices around the outside of the house. It all took just one day. The crew kept my home clean and tidy, even though it was a very nasty, dirty job. They were friendly, pleasant, and respectful. The price is high, but I feel it's absolutely fair for all the work that was completed. And its guaranteed!
Description of Work: We were hearing animals in our attic and walls. They would scurry, nest, and chew all night long. Going in the attic you could see evidence that animals were up there. Traps didn't end the problem. Other exterminators hadn't solved the problem. Critter Control of Houston got rid of the problem. Now we have a clean, pest-free home that is healthier and quieter!
