+ 0 moreAwful! WOULDNT RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY. I trust nothing they have to say after this! Perhaps it's just the tech I got but I've been hearing stories from my neighbors with similar experiences with Critter Control.
Description of Work: We had someone come to our home after we noticed a strange smell. Obviously a rodent of sorts, died in our attic. Hoping that was the extent of it, the tech informed us that while he didn't find the critter, he did find a "rat infestation". Interesting since we live in a newish uncluttered, clean home, that I do most of my work from. I'm thinking an "infestation" might have given off some sort of clue, other than a faint dead animal smell, right?! I'm no expert, though....so I listened to what the guy had to say. The tech claimed we had at least 100 rats living in our attic! "Wouldn't we be able to hear them?", I asked. "Perhaps, but they are nocturnal so perhaps not," he replied. Red flag number 1. During the entire inspection (starting after he saw one rat turd in the attic) he kept saying "I'm just going to tell ya, this won't be cheap. I'm just going to be honest (then he'd say something that sounded a lot like a lie)". Red flag number 2. He then told us that the issue was so bad that we shouldn't run our ac or heat until we correct the issue (but never said anything about the vents being chewed through, nor could he show us more than a few turds and 1 trail that "something" had made in our insulation). He also told us that our children probably have respiratory issues from this and that all of our insulation would need to be removed and reinstalled. Red flag number 3 since he is not a doctor and ran no tests of the air quality in our home. But the grand kicker is when he told us that it would cost us $12,000 to fix our "rat infestation"!.....yep that's right....In my home that had been inspected 2 yrs ago when we bought this place in an affluent newish neighborhood, and has shown no sign of any kind of infestation?!! RED FLAG NUMBER 253 (or so it seemed)!!! After telling us the cost and seeing the look of horror and disbelief on our faces, he proceeded to pull out all the stops to get us to sign in order to start the work. He even invited us and our kids to his "ranch" to "ride the horses". Wth?! We immediately searched Angie's List and found Omega who has a Grade of A. The Omega tech inspected for 45 mins and said that we have 5 rats max, we get to keep our insulation, and the cost to fix this problem 1/6th of Critter Control's cost! Plus we got 10% off because we found them on Angie's List. We only told the Omega tech that another company said we had an infestation and we wanted a second opinion. He checked out our issue, and walked my husband around the inside and out to show him all of the issues....and explained everything with great detail including our cost. No gimmicks, no scare tactics, no lies. I have NO CLUE how Critter Control has a grade A on Angie's list!!! Consumer BEWARE. If you had a tech from Critter Control quote you in the 9-15k range for an "infestation", used scare tactics (like telling us our children probably have respiratory issues it's so bad), repeatedly tells you "look, I'm just going to be honest...", and then calls you everyday to get you to sign and agree to pay 10% upfront....you may want a second opinion. Omega is a great start, in my opinion.

+ 0 moreWe live in a 7 year old David Weekley home and had roof rats living in our attic (possibly for 2 years?). We did not think the problem was extensive, placed poison in the attic and the house began to smell. NEVER do this. We needed professionals. The rats (dead and alive) needed to be removed and the 2600 square foot attic needed to be completely redone. The attic needed to be cleaned and reinsulated with boric acid treated cellulose, and all house entry points had to be closed (roof pipes meshed, weep holes meshed, siding gaps sealed). Brandon and the 8 member work team arrived on time and completed the work as contracted in a timely, professional manner; it was a remarkable 1 day job. Clean-up was also well done. Follow-up checks of the attic will continue for the next 2 weeks (we heard them outside last night) and once/year thereafter to confirm that no rats remain or are gaining entry, and the work is guaranteed. We're very pleased with the result (assuming the attic remains clear) and will continue to use and recommend Critter Control.

+ 0 moreThe crew who came on the day of the treatment was extremely professional and courteous and attentive to all our needs. They worked from 8:00 a.m. to late that night, and the work was completed in one day. Since then, a technician has come thrice to check out the cages placed in the attic to make sure that the problem is resolved. The price was way beyond anything I expected, even though insurance picked up the tab after our $12,000+ deductible. The technicians cleaned up after the work was completed and even came back the next day to clean up. Now that I have ventured into the attic again, I am disappointed that the flooring areas in the attic were not swept and tidied up.
Description of Work: Our regular exterminator suggested that we contact Critter Control. We had been hearing loud noises from our attic and could detect a lot of activity above us. The technician who came to check out the attic found evidence of extended raccoon activity and waste. He worked with our insurance company and provided them all the information required. On the day of the actual work, a large crew worked from early morning to past 11:30 at night, removing the contaminated insulation, disinfecting the entire area, and then blowing in new insulation. In addition to this, the technicians screened all the vents, installed chimney caps, and closed potential access holes, throughout the house.

+ -1 moreScheduled to get estimate of work to be done between 8-10 am on the 27/Feb/2015. Company did not show up during scheduled timing. Finally called 45 minutes (10:45am) after scheduled timing. Stating that he was running late. I had to take off work to meet him - he never called to tell me that he was running late during 8-10am. We agreed to meet around 11 am the same day. The company calls me back to ask me where I was? The Representative informed me that he was at a TOTALLY DIFFERENT address which was about 45 minutes away from my house. I had talked with the office a couple of days before our appointment. I made sure I not only repeated the correct address twice, and also repeated the scheduled time for the appointment at least twice. And they still the whole thing totally wrong. The representative said they would call back to reschedule. To date they HAVE NOT made an attempt to call back to reschedule. I would not recommend them. It has cost me a WEEK of scheduling and a FULL day of WORK. This job order started out in the NEGATIVE.
Description of Work: Scheduled to come to property to give estimate on removing squirrels from attic. Never showed up to the appointment. Never called to said they were going to be late. Showed up at a totally different property 45 minutes from my home for the appoint 45 minutes after the scheduled time.

Description of Work: Critter Control came out to my house within hours of my initial call. Craig performed a thorough inspection providing exact details of what was in our attic and a full plan for eradication. It was hard to believe what he was telling me was actually true; however the next day the full crew came out and stayed very late to finish the job and low and behold Craig's prediction on exact count of the animals in my attic was correct. All the workers had a strong work ethic with positive attitudes. The only complaint I have is that they were a little messy around the yard and in the house with drinks, but as soon as I mentioned to Brandon he fixed it.

As we learned that we had a rodent problem in our attic, we started reaching out companies that could solve the problem...permanently. Kenny Wells from Critter Control went to the house and developed an estimate. He has been extermely helpful in explaining different steps of the process this company uses to erradicate animals from the attic...essentially convincing us to proceed with Critter Control. While the service is not cheap, they seem to provide the most comprehensive solution to erradicate unwanted animals from your home...and they commit to getting the work done in 1 day. Tabitha, Melissa and Mike have also been very polite, assisting me with the contracting process and walking me thorugh the various financing options that are available. The service has been contracted for Monday, Feb. 23rd. I will write another review once they complete the work. We expect thorugh and a professional job!

They patched up the trim and eaves around the roof of our home to prevent rodent re-entry. They also added extra insulation to our attic. They are absolutely amazing and their follow up is on point. They set traps after wards to make sure they were not coming back to our home. They came out every week to check and re-apply a solution to disinfect the entire area where the rodents were at. They are very professional and they were able to handle the situation very well.

My attic is heavily infested with roof rats. The necessary treatment steps are especially needed by me since I have COPD. I am told I will notice a big and better difference in my home. Ben Pullen and his crew arrived at my home at agreed upon time. Ben went about checking out my home, managing his crew and going over details of services to be performed. He answered any and all of my questions in a gentlemanly manner. My last look before leaving my home was the crew going into my attic in hazmat suits. Ben has kept me apprised of all details regarding critter control by texting me throughout the day. Because I agreed to all 4 steps, I have a Lifetime Warranty with Critter Control of Houston. This includes inspection at least once a year. Also, there will be an inspection at least once a week for 3 weeks beginning next week. The process took longer than expected but I'd rather have a thorough and complete job performed. The good old "Satisfaction Guaranteed."

+ 0 moreBen, Brandon, and crew arrived early on December 22 to begin work eliminating our critter invasion. They were professional and informative. After preparing the area, they got right to work removing the old insulation, disinfecting the attic space, and blowing in new insulation. All possible entry ways were closed up so a reinfestation would not occur. They worked a total of 13 hours, which included replacing all the screening under the eaves, and painting the trim. They cleaned up after themselves and I was very pleased with the work. The next day, we realized that a squirrel was still left in the attic! But Manuel came out and installed a one way door under the eaves so it could escape. The work is expensive, but extensive. I really appreciate the lifetime warranty, and their courtesy and professionalism. I would highly recommend them to my friends.

+ -1 moreThey were very responsive to our immediate needs and showed up when indicated they would. They worked in a very professional and timely manner, considering the magnitude of the job. This was a crew of 11 people, probably ten generators were in use, huge inflatable "collection bags" and many, many feet of plastic tubing. Although we did experience people's feet falling through the ceiling, this I assume is a common occurrence as it was corrected the same day to its original condition. They had people clean the interior of the house where new insulation blown in had come through the cam lighting fixtures. Their office staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for a permanent solution to a critter problem.

I called them on a Thursday and they were here the very nxt morning to at 8am. They were extremely professional, pleasant, knowledgeable, thorough, hard working, detail oriented, efficient, and extremely fast. They were completely done in about 6 hours or so...and made it possible for me to return to a clean completely disinfected and rat free home. They Were definitely not cheap, but when it comes to your well being and the safety of both you and your beloved pets why would you want to risk things not done properly just for a cheaper price. In addition I feel that they did an incredible job with everything so to me it was money well spent and their services were well worth the $$$ I appreciate peace of mind which I was left with thanks to Critter Control. After six hours of work, they finished. Mark then walked me around and had me inspect their work. We found a few places, and he willingly dealt with my concerns. I am very impressed with this company. Although not cheap, in my mind, they earned their rate.

I'd rather pay this price to get rid of all the rats and fecal matter instead of other providers just trapping and poisoning the rats which still keeps you living under this hazardous stuff!!
Description of Work: We had roof rat issues in the attic of the house we just moved into. I had a few companies provide me estimates. Some from a few hundred dollars to $9500 which I paid critter control. I agree $9500 is a lot of money and initially I thought $9500 was very high but after watching what they did, this is a very reasonable price. When you hire other companies, they basically trap/poison the rats which still leaves fecal matter in the attic along with dead rats which are health hazards. Critter control vacuums out everything in the attic including all the insulation, disinfects the attic, fills it in with new insulation and fills all gaps around the house so there are no more animals coming in. In addition, you get their life time warranty! Nate, Manuel, Melissa from the office and all the workers did an excellent job. Manuel came in for the last check up on October 8th and everything is all good. 120% satisfied with the job and I'm thinking of using them for insect control as well.

I was totally freaked out when he confirmed that we did have rodents living in our attic and very worried they would come into the house before they would be able to get back here. But he assured me that they are just in the attic right now and they would take care of our situation very promptly. He did a very thorough check for all possible entry points and made sure the team coming to do all the work would have everything they needed. I'd hire them back again if I had to but this is a lifetime guarantee that we will be critter free so I'm hoping I don't have to have them back again. They will be coming for the next three weeks just to confirm that no animals were missed. Great service!! I would recommend Manuel and Critter Control to anyone that asks! I will also use them BEFORE we purchase another house in Houston if we ever get to that point. Thanks for helping us to sleep at night again.
Description of Work: Checked our attics for rodents as I was hearing noises. + -1 moreAll you really need to know is that they tried to charge us 42,000 dollars to eliminate a rat problem. That's right 42k. Apparently they thought we are exceptionally stupid. We got three competitors in (all rated A on Angie's list) to provide estimates as well, and the average bid was well under 4,000 dollars. I had lots of fun sharing their estimate with their competitors (the reactions were extremely amusing - I suspect it is hanging on several break room walls at this point). Long story short, if you want to be taken for an (expensive) ride, and told scary things about problems which may not exist, hire this company. If you like to spend your money wisely and deal with honest people, stay away.

He explained the process and began working outside. When the outside pest control was applied, he came inside (after donning booties - thank you very much) and took care of the interior preventative pest control. After he was finished, he explained all about what he had done and answered by questions fully. I was offered a quarterly pest service from Critter Control, but didn't buy this time.
Description of Work: Treated perimeter of house on the outside, put roach bait in the attic, and hit the areas under the kitchen and bathroom sinks.

+ 0 moreThey first said they had to block all the openings or holes in the house that animals may have access to. We were given a quote to accomplish this. though expensive it is what needed to be done. Then they set traps for the animals and will check them on a monthly basis (for a fee). Overall, it solved the problem and they did a great job.
