It hasn't gone well. Tamara sent me a letter through her attorney saying that she owes me $73.08 due to an auditing mistake, not to contact her, and to go through her attorney for any questions - her attorney who was also her significant other. The check was supposed to be included with the letter, but it was just a photocopy of the check. When I contacted her attorney he said he would only talk through my attorney. I don't have an attorney. Also, it was also stated in the contract that she was supposed to provide me with carbon copies of the receipts from the sale, but she sent me photocopies with multiple things scratched off. She's breached the contract in many places, and she would not allow me or my daughter to be there for the sale. We have no way of knowing what they sold anything for. I would not recommend her to anyone.
Description of Work: I hired Compass Rose to run an estate sale for me. She was to receive 40% of the gross sales, and I would receive 60%.

Response from Compass Rose Estate Sales & Appraisals
The goal of reviews on any online business forum should be to help others make better choices on whom to hire, not to punish a business or service provider. Angie’s list is a highly respected online service and should not be used to exaggerate or misrepresent a customer’s experience. Otherwise the whole point of the reviews becomes tainted and could leave Angie’s List and any like-kind online business forums unreliable. The “Member Comments” are false and misleading. On November 29, 2013, I received voice messages from [member name removed], [member name removed] daughter who has power of attorney to act for [member name removed]. In the messages she requested copies of all sales receipts with an itemized list of all sales. She concluded by saying I had 72 hours to respond or I would be hearing from their attorney. I contacted [member name removed] to let her know I was out of town when her message was received and would respond upon returning to Houston. In all my contacts with [member name removed] and/or [member name removed] they were accusatory and disrespectful. Since it appears to me at this point that it had become a legal dispute and the reputation of Compass Rose Estate Sales and me personally were at stake, I decided to proceed through my attorney to make sure that the communications from our side were clear and to avoid being the recipient of further personal abuse. His law firm is well known and respected and is the second oldest firm in Texas. On December 5, 2013, our attorney sent a check for $73.08 to [member name removed] via Certified Mail/Return Receipt Requested (CM/RRR) along with copies, as requested, of sales receipts. Also included was a summarized breakdown of sales by category and an Excel spreadsheet prepared by a Certified Public Accountant showing individual sales day by day. She failed to pick up the CM/RRR letter from the post office and it was returned. A full copy of the check and above information was mailed at the same time as the CM/RRR package via regular USPS mail to [member name removed]. Apparently, she received that. On March 18, 2014, I received a letter from [member name removed] stating, in part, “I am out of the hospital now and have consulted an attorney”. ON Angie’s List’s “Member Comments” she said, “I don’t have an attorney.” However that was at minimum the second time she and/or her representative said they had an attorney. The information that was redacted were credit card/CVS numbers that will NOT be given to [member name removed], or any client, as this would be a violation of our customer’s privacy. The contract states “If requested, we will issue receipts to customers for all items sold at a price above $50.00 and will provide you the client with carbon copies of the receipts.” Neither [member name removed] nor [member name removed] requested at the time of signing the contract nor any time prior to the estate sale that carbon copies be issued for any particular amount. If they had, we would have used triple carbon receipt books as we have some customers who want their carbon receipt for their own record, be it personal purchase or re-sale business purchase. We do not has for people’s names at the checkout desk unless they are claiming tax exemption. There are often long lines at the checkout desk. This is one reason why we have this clause in the contract. If detailed receipts are required, customers often put their items down and leave in frustration. During the “staging” process of the estate sale I made the decision to suggest to [member name removed] that Compass Rose stop preparing the house for an estate sale. This suggestion was based on [member name removed] and her daughter being challenging and insulting to me as well as my staff. This, of course, would have been at no cost to them. I said she should find someone else to conduct the sale. Her response was “Oh no, we like you!” along with other assurances of being pleased with the way the staging process was handled. I suggested that they not be at the sale, as we do with all clients, as it can be distracting to customers as well as an emotional experience to the client seeing their “memories” being purchased and then owned by someone else. [member name removed] came each day of the sale. Prior to the sale both she and [member name removed] went to the house for various reasons. Her statement “she would not allow me or my daughter to be there for the sale” is completely and utterly false. Suggesting and not allowing are two separate things. This is an emotion and personal business at times. Compass Rose Estate Sales take this into consideration when working with clients. However, when [member name removed] threatened me with an attorney this became a legal issue. It is a wrongful act for her to cause harm or defame by business for me personally in an online format. The check for $73.08 will be re-sent to [member name removed] via CM/RRR. If she wishes to review the sales books in person she will need to contact my attorney and make arrangements with him through her attorney.
